disneystar1 · 20/05/2009 10:39

M2L your right there.....

we know he has only limited time left as hes had his cat scan and they have seen how much room his brain has left to grow.

the operation is to try to re build his entire head and face open the skull and allow his brain to grow, this is the theory.

it takes approx 10+ hours and after he wont be able to see for a while as you can imagine with a op like that what its going to be like for him.
but i want him to live or at least have a chance to live and in the hope if it works that new technology will be advancing all the time to allow samuel to live a good life.

all i know that if samuel is ever suffering i cant allow that i love him way too much to be selfish
but trust me im going to fight with him as much as i possibly can i cant lose him not now, we all need him all of us....
samuel dying is not an option if i allow myself to think like this i will be in a terrible way,
he needs lots of care now and im not missing a day with him
im still in shock i guess and i didnt know the news was going to be as bad
but we are determined to fight with him thats all we can do.
thank you all so so much for your kind words and your support.
PJR give you dd a cuddle for her thinking so much of others what a wonderful compasionate girl (what a good mummy you are)
got things to do here
collecting car from garage
shopping ......etc.
see you guys later

pigleychez · 20/05/2009 11:49

Hello all,

Disney- What awful news. Lets hope that the operation helps and Little Sam is with you for much much longer. Keep Strong- We are here for you

Getting my new Oven today Been waiting 6 weeks for it to be delivered and cant wait to have some oven dinners as opposed to just using the hob.
mmm Nice crispy chicken and ham Pie for tea!

Rather pissed off today though as my car has gone into the garage today. It has got really jumpy and juddery.. Like im a learner driver!
Anyway mechanic has called, Sounds terrible and is going to easily cost a grand minimum!

Hes not going to do anything today, just change plugs etc and we will have a chat with him later about whether its worth repairing or better to by a new one. Really cant afford much though having just paid out for the frigging boiler!!

Why does it all happen at once!

bebejones · 20/05/2009 20:48

Ponto - I am fine really, just having a low & crappy day with the MS playing up, sometimes it plays on my mind & I feel really low about it. Am better today though!

Pigley - about your car, things like that always come in three's (or so my Grandma always tells me) Fingers crossed it isn't as bad as they think!

We bought a VTech walker for P which was delivered today, she took some steps which was very exciting! When we put the batteries into the noisy panel on the front we discovered it doesn't work! Don't know if it was the batteries, am hoping so coz I really don't want the hassle of packaging it up & taking it back to Bristol!!!

Have been chatting to a mum on NM for a while(shhhhhhhh don't mention the other site ) and it looks like we are going to brave a local toddler group together! Fingers crossed it works out I know hardly anyone except family locally! I went to music class with Phoebe again today & she seemed to actually enjoy it this week, did lots of clapping & laughing so at least she is starting to relax a bit more. I do need to make an effort to socialise her, just need to be a big brave girl!

Sorry for the long waffle. Have a good night all!

TJuice · 20/05/2009 21:30

hi disney and all

i am so sorry to hear about samuel. i feel like we've been going through this with you, since well, before the beginning. but i don't think any of us can really imagine what its like . . . i really hope and pray that all goes really well and that little sam continues to defy all expectations and go on to be a healthy little boy. fingers and everything crossed for all of you.

xoxoxo

its been a while . . . i am busy with work and really loving it, actually. its nice to have meetings, wear heels, have opinions etc but still leave at 2pm and go get elodie. I take her to nursery on the back of my bike - she looks so funny with her massive helmut in. It sounds scary but I only bike a few minutes through the park and they have big, separate bike lanes here. On sat, we get our cargo bike - they are v.popular for carting kids here www.copenhagenize.com/2007/10/kindergarten.html

she is loving nursery and i don't blame her. They go out to playgrounds and parks daily, have an onsite organic cook and sleep in cosy little cots on an outside terrace! She is such a character now and quite wilful but good-natured and social. She never really crawled but butt-shuffled pretty fast and is now pulling up and furniture walking. We are yet to completely baby-proof the apartment. . .

i have been back and forth to the uk recently to see my parents who both got ill but are much better, thank goodness.

that's my news. hope you guys are all doing well, certainly sounds like it.
best wishes from dk

Poledra · 21/05/2009 00:01

Pigley bummer about the car. Would just sy, think carefully about what you spend on the car - we once spent £1200 repairing a car (we had to, it was a liability on the road ). We sold it 6 months later, and only got £2500 for it. I sometimes wonder if we would have been better scrapping it rather than repairing it (we knew we were going to have to sell it as I was pg with DD2 and it was too small).

Why on earth am I on here when DH is away on business and I have the bed all to myself?? Well, at least till O gets up at 4am.

Sleep well, all.

Momma23 · 21/05/2009 08:43

Morning all,

Pigley,
Sorry about the car trouble, it never rains but pours! Bad luck comes in 3s, so they say!

Bebe
Hope it is the batteries, that drives me mad when that happens!

L is now crawling finally i thought she would walk b4 she crawled... Some teeth are coming up aswell. She is a right grump lately! Starting to refuse food, and in general being a little miss. Cant beleive there birthdays are coming up!! It has been a fast year!
House is like a tip and kids not dressed o well looks like another hectic day in this house....

pigleychez · 21/05/2009 10:17

Bebe- Abigail has the Vtech walker. Its her favourite toy! She loves the toy bit on the front and dances to the music.

Hope you enjoy the toddler group. I was scared at first but you soon get talking to other mummies I first took Abigail at 8 weeks and we now have a group of friends that we meet there every week.

Tjuice- Glad things are good for you and you are enjoying work. Sounds like you have a nice balance going on
Loving the new bike!

Poledra- Yeah that was by worry. My car is a 51 reg Rover 25 which are worth Nowt since Rover went bust! I was looking at new cars in Autotrader yesterday. Thankfully the mechanic has seemed to have fixed it The worry was it was the head gasket which is big money but he did something to the compression and changed various leads and plugs and it appears to be going ok. Only question is for how long?
Anyway at least it will give us some more time to save for something decent incase we do need a new one. Felt like crying after the call yesterday- Since we moved in its been nothing but big bills!

Finally got my new oven yesterday ( only been waiting 6 weeks! )

Momma- I too cant believe how quickly their birthdays have come around! I spent last night designing her party invites on the PC ready to send out to family and friends.
Now we have the oven I can start practicing her cake
Im desperately trying to get some more painting done before her birthday and everyone comes to see the new house. I was up till 10 pm last night painting the dining room!

disneystar1 · 21/05/2009 11:53

morning all,
pigley its always one thing after another isnt it, glad the car wasnt too much in the end,
i picked up my car (kia sedona) yesterday cost £100 to pass MOT. but with a big list of warnings on it we are now debating a new one or fixing i think it will be fixing it as dh needs to have time of as and when with samuel and i guess we cant be spending any more than we have to right now.

we have been offered a holiday through one of these organisations that help ill children but i feel terrible accepting it.
like another family could do with it more..... they organise it all and we just go and tbh i cant organise anything right now my head is a mess
still going through the motions like we all do but its odd and not the same and time is going too quickly .
he is ultra clingy to me like a monkey at the moment
he lies his head on my shoulder looking at at just says my mama with a big sigh
he says it all the time only thing he says apart from no and makes the sound pu pu pu and thats for bread and butter i say buppa hence the pu pu .
just has a lovely shower whilst he,s sleeping so nice and refreshed now,
ive got 2 of my friends coming for this afternoon for coffee which will be nice,
better go and tidy up a bit....
have a good day

Poledra · 21/05/2009 12:28

Disney, you grab that holiday with both hands! You deserve it and so does Sam and so do the rest of the family.

Momma23 · 21/05/2009 13:50

Pigley
Shed loads of painting that needs doing, just to find the time! For L birthday i am going to make her a home made one. Since i DD3 came along i have turned into a little mad baker for some reason!

Disney
With all you have been through lately you more than anyone deserves that holiday! Go and spend time with your family and enjoy every minute.

Potty training DD2!!!!!!!!!!!!OMG no wee in the loo yet! I can tell this is going to be hard!

bebejones · 21/05/2009 21:54

Turns out that the walker is faulty & it wasn't just the batteries...v , Cribbs Causeway on a Bank holiday weekend is not my idea of fun!

Disney - take the holiday, it would be good for all of you!

Phoebe has been AWFUL today! She refused to nap & screamed all day pretty much. Finally dropped off for an hour at 4pm after being up at 7! She screamed her head off for half hour this evening before going to sleep! She is fine and happy & sleepy then screams the second I leave the room. It's made all the worse by the fact she can stand up in her cot now! She just stands there shouting 'Mama', breaks my heart, she gets louder & louder until she is hysterical. Think it being light at bedtime is throwing her all off. We have blackout blinds but the light creeps in round the edges & her room is in full sun at this time of day/night!

Will catch up better 2moro, am off to enjoy some homemade cheesecake (Diet not going well! )Night all!

MinnieMummy · 22/05/2009 10:39

P is now saying 'mama', 'dada' and 'nana' for banana (her absolute favourite food!). DS was slower so I've been quite surprised to hear her talking, albeit not often!
Several friends loved the v-tech walker, although I refuse to get one more electronic noisy toy.. they absolutely do my head in!!

I had a cold last week and just got fed up with P sometimes going down fine and sometimes taking 90 mins, think the last straw was a friend coming round to babysit and then it was 8.30 by the time we could leave the house (DH had wanted to see Star Trek so we were too late). So... we've been doing some controlled crying, I've never been a fan and it never occurred to me that I would use it, but it's been fantastic... last night less than a minute to go down and the night before at my parents in travel cot only 20 mins. Hurrah, we get our evenings back! Plus I can foresee a time when both DCs are in the same room and we can talk and have lights on in our bedroom. Yey!

Disney I don't think you should worry about 'qualifying' for the holiday, the only question is would you all enjoy it and would it be a good way of spending some quality time with Samuel? If so, then go for it, absolutely no question.

pigleychez · 22/05/2009 13:41

Disney- Id take the holiday... Think of the lovely time you would all have and the memories it will make

Bebe- Hope you have a better day with P Homemade cheesecake sounds yum!

Minnie- Im glad the CC has been working for you

Abigail is poorly today She has a runny nose and temperature. Really grumpy and whingy!
She had 30mins nap this morning then 2 hours later went back down to sleep. That was at 11 and shes still asleep now at 1.40!
The sleeping postition is also very interesting- Photo on my profile

Wondering if its her teeth coming through. We currently dont have any so no previous experience. If not then its off for our first Dr's trip with her.

Hoping shes ok as we have a big family meal out on Sunday for FIL's birthday and the following weekend its her cousins 1st Birthday paty!

Momma23 · 22/05/2009 14:21

MinnieM
I used the CC with DD1 & 2 and it worked. Got them into bedtime routine and it was great havin the evenings back. It is however so hard to hear mama from a whailing baby.

Pigley
How does A manage to sleep like that! I was looking for the other leg for a few mins. So cute bless her. Have you tried calpol/neurofen? keep temp down and might help if its teeth.. L is a nightmare here whinging all the time and nothing wrong just whinging!!

DD2 seems to be coming down with somthing! nappie training not going to well! L will stand not holding anything and thinks its great! till she falls over..

bebejones · 22/05/2009 14:34

Pigley - Phoebe's teeth are really hurting her at the momment (hence the behaviour yesterday) & she has had a runny nose (possibly from the screaming although I had thought she might have hayfever?!)....I would just keep an eye on her though. Fingers crossed she is ok & it isn't a horrid bug coming, just keep the Calpol handy!! Love the sleeping photo, they do get themselves into some weird positions don't they?! P has got into a habit of falling asleep on her front with her legs tucked up underneath her & her bum in the air...very undignified!

New TV stand has just been delivered so will hopefully get that up over the bank holiday, fingers crossed the TV fits I forgot to measure the TV before I ordered it!!

We have finally found tennants for our old flat!! YAY! They move in 1st June, it's going to save us £750 a month paying that mortgage! SO relieved, lets hope all the other areas of our life in chaos follow suit!

Just waiting for P to wake up from her nap before going out to take the stupid walker back! Will give her a snack before we go, but I am running out of snacks to try...any ideas? She would happily eat toast all day if I let her! She has rice cakes, banana, breadsticks, the occasional rusk apricots/prunes & yoghurt. What else can I give her that is just a quick snack that I don't have to cook/prepare?

pigleychez · 22/05/2009 14:59

Bebe-Congrats on the flat- bet thats a relief
Abigail likes fingers of cheese and cucumber.

I think it is her teeth. She woke after 3 hours! with bright red rosey cheeks.
Chomped her way through lunch, prefering hard foods. Thankfully in a better mood.

I tried giving her calpol earlier but she hates it!Sounds like you are trying to kill her not help her! Have tried spoons and syringes but she just spits it back out (usually back over me!)
Its a real struggle to give it to her and she only ends up with a minimum amount. May try the baby Nurofen see if she prefers that instead. Odd child- What kid doesnt like the sugar ladden pink calpol!

bebejones · 22/05/2009 20:46

Pigley - P used to HATE calpol too, especially in a syringe. I just put the spoon to her lip and let her slurp it off! It seems to be working a bit better! (Plus I get to have the bit that she leaves on the spoon...yum!! [bad mummy emoticon])

P likes cheese too although she sort of squishes it & it goes all melty and horrid and she loses interest. Cucumber, she threw at the cat last time she had some, will try again though, might be nice and soothing on sore gums I would think!

disneystar1 · 22/05/2009 21:22

awwww these poor babies and there teeth

pigley sure does sound like teething

samuel has number 11 poking through now and hes the same red cheeks lots of dribble runny nose....

bebe like you im running outta ideas for snacks and food in general.
he cant eat finger foods unless i suck/chew them first like a mummy bird
the muscles in the top of his mouth arnt formed properly so they are not there and most things he tries to eat get stuck and he chokes badly ( not repairable either)
or he aspirates and he hates that and panics.
well i would too...!

so he has sloppy foods puree things little tiny bits in
eg bread and butter known as pu pu (buppa) here by samuel....

i have to chew it up then give it to him he just loves it but cant chew himself people must think im disgusting when were out doing that
has soup with bread in for lunch sloppy style
made a fruit salad for pudding and he sat there with me holding pineapple and sucked the life out it piece after piece, then kept shuddering was so funny.

SK you went to centreparks didnt you?? my brain has been all over recently but id love to know what it was like.

well im in bed and have been since 8.30 pm samuel is in his room we have his breathing monitors on all you can hear all night is beep beep like in a hospital, i find it strangely comforting and wake up suddenly when it stops however a deep sleep i am in.

have a lovely weekend everyone. hope the weather is nice
were going to soft play tomorrow
got all my dc,s and my 2 lovely gc sunday
taking just my dc,s to chessington monday.
next weekend taking them to see the lion king in london im looking forward to that..sam will love it....
