Not had a chance to catch up just wanted to wish MRSWEETKITTY good luck for the marathon today!

sweetkitty · 26/04/2009 18:59

Thanks for all the well dones, I am proud of him, I know he is a bit disappointed with his time but he did have that bug.

SIL was up for her sleepover which was nice, DD2 now has the lurgy, DD1 still not right and DP said he feels a bit under the weather (despite running 26.2 miles today).

B has spent the last few days playing with Little People A and T had them all out and bless her she has been copying them playing.

Better go change her nappy

libralady · 26/04/2009 20:17

Hi all,

I am still around but don't get the chance to catch up any more. Have I missed anything significant?
Life is still as hectic here as usual, although DH has been off work for the last 3 weeks, which is really strange. 1 week at Easter as I couldn't get any time off work, and then the last 2 with pneumonia. He's been as weak as a kitten, so I've been having to deal with all three of them.
Hope everyone is alright and the little ones are thriving. Can't believe Luke is 10 months already. He's crawling and pulling himself to stand and it seems he is no longer a baby and I had a little tear in my eye earlier as becase he's my last, I'm going to miss him being dependant on me IYKWIM.

Mummywannabe · 26/04/2009 20:25

Hi all. Not been on for months . Max is so so much better now asthma is under control, sleeping fairly well and eating so much better. No crawling, lazy little bugger! But first word is flower (bless him!) Being back at work ok but hate leaving him. Hope your all well.

bebejones · 26/04/2009 21:16

Congratulations to Mr SK, very impressive, I'd still be there now if I attempted it so am in awe of anyone who does it!

P is currently having teething pains as Number 2 tooth is STILL trying to push through, can see/feel it under gum, poor little thing is really miserable

After the cold she has gone back to being a nightmare with food (and we had been making real headway before the cold struck, despite teething) she pretty much is refusing EVERYTHING unless it is a. something we are having (she had masses of pasta off my plate & garlic bread yesterday) b. something she can hold herself or c. something sweet, and even then it's a battle. She will eat something one day then not the next & thrashes her head from side to side & screams if yo come near her with food/spoon, I have pretty much given up. She looks so pale I am starting to worry about her iron levels. I'm not forcing her to eat & trying not to fret about it but she is getting more & more worked up despite me being laid back with her about it. She had been avoiding savoury in order to get dessert but now she won't even do more than a couple of spoonfuls of yoghurt which was her favourite. I know I sound overly dramatic about it just feel like I am fighting a losing battle, she only wants what she can't have....typical girl! I'm just trying to give her a balanced diet. DH & myself are both overweight (but losing weight) & I really worry about her being the same, I know that is sounds stupid coz she is only a baby but I want to give her a good start but it feels like I am destined to fail! Today all she has eaten was half a rusk & a small bite of prune, everything else we offered her ended up being thrown on the floor or screamed at!!Think I am just overthinking things coz I am tired, 2moro will be better...I hope.

Poledra · 26/04/2009 21:19

bebejones, try just letting her eat off your plate then. You can even put her food on with yours, if she's having something different but it could be that she just wants it off your plate, IYSWIM. DD2 went through a phase like that at about 14 months, so I just gave myself a bigger helping and we shared . She grew out of it.

minipinkscottish · 26/04/2009 21:29

Well done SK's DH most impressive

Abbie has the sick bug Poor wee thing she has been soooooooooo miserable and this is thie first time in about 24 hours that I have not had her clinging to me. I hate it when lo is not well...feel so helpless
Told boss I would have to change days next week so i can be at home tomorrow to make sure she is ok.

bebejones · 27/04/2009 07:37

Minipink - poor A, is horrid when they are poorly, hope she improves.

Poledra - with the pasta she def wanted it off my plate. She had the same thing but swiped accross her tray & screamed so it went on floor! Picked her up out of her chair & she helped herself to mine! Tried feeding her on my lap yesterday in same way but she was having none of it! Will see what today brings!!

Momma23 · 27/04/2009 08:29

Well done to Mr SK.
Hope girls are feeling better today and Mr SK.

Bebe
My DD1 was just like this, I would be soooo fustrated with her like you only trying to do good for her.
I lost the battle with her and let her do her own thing. I found the more i forced the more she just would not have any. Let her pic of your plate, DD1 now is the best little eater, fruit to beat the band, Veg, meat, all good foods. Hang in there its not an easy stage but she will improve.

minipinkscottish
Hope A improves soon ...

Yesterday was a horrible day! had my sister and her DH for dinner and chilled. L is like a terrilbe whingie baby today and yesterday! Drives me mad when there like this. Hoping today will be a nice day and L improves on the winging front.
9-10 months i always find a change in the babys become more whingie and fed up.

pigleychez · 27/04/2009 10:42

Ahhh whats happened to the weather!!
We have been spending al our time in the garden in the sunshine and yesterday I dug out all the overgrown flowerbeds in scorching sun.
Its blowing a gale and pouring down today

SK- Well done to DP on the marathon. He did really well, especially not feeling tip top either!
Hope the girls feel better soon,

Libra- poor DH With you on them not looking like our little babies any more. They look so grown up crawling and standing at everything

Mummywannbe- Glad you and Max are ok. Hope hes settled inot Nursery well. How is it with him in the other room?

Bebe- id say the same.. let her pick off your plate if thats how she feels happiest. Abigail may dismiss something but if i take it off her plate and take a bite she wants it back and eats it! How about piling your plate then make a point in front of her of taking off your plate to give to her?
Abigail too prefers to eat tings she can hold herself. We are doing BLW so eats what we eat anyway- It defeinately helps you eat more heathily Abigail now shares her food with us and everyone! Has some herself then holds it out for you. Big beaming smile if you take a bite.

Mini- Poor Abbie. Hope shes better soon. Horible when they are ill

Momma- Dont you hate those whingy days!! They typically co-inside with when you want the to be little angels!

Well thankfully Abigail seems to be sleeping much better now I think the crawling and standing is wearing her out! Shes been doing 8-5 5.30 or 6 which is great. If she wakes at 5 she can usually be patted off again till 6.
Going to get black out blinds too to see if she can even go till 7 or 8.

Abigail managed to pull the highchair down onto herself this morning. She was completely hidden underneath it and could just hear the crys! Shes fine but was just abit shaken up.

bebejones · 27/04/2009 17:47

Bebe runs in screaming

Poledra · 27/04/2009 18:19

Congratulations bebejones - wait till she starts walking, you'll never know where she is

MinnieMummy · 27/04/2009 20:48

Hello hello hello, I am banned from FB in the evenings for a few days (bet with DH, he is giving up playing football games on the computer) so you might see me here more this week!

Congrats MrSK, I am amazed at anyone running for that length of time. I did a full 20mins yesterday (without buggy - felt so liberating!) and am EXHAUSTED today. Rubbish.

Pigley I was thinking the same thing - can't you somehow suggest to the previous owners that they shouldn't have sold you house with aa potentially lethal boiler?? Or is it really a case of 'buyer beware'??

Very basic crawling going on here and P doesn't bother if she can roll/wriggle her way to something instead. We have wooden floors so sliding around seems to be her main method of transporting herself! No standing or anything remotely like it here, congrats Bebe!

P has been teething the last few weeks, had some dreadful nights, I can see the two little white lines on her bottom gums (first teeth AT ALL, her brother was 9mths too) and then yesterday I saw the outlines at the top as well - 4 teeth all coming through at once, no wonder she's been suffering. Feel a bit guilty for not feeling more sympathetic at times, but then it's difficult to feel anything but knackered at 3am.

Raisins here too, we're doing mostly BLW so if she can pick it up she can eat it. Grapes too, I cut them in half but don't peel them. Recently though she seems to only want to finger feed herself 'hard' food and won't pick up food like mash for example, anyone else having this?

Well I've finally contacted work about a going back date (first week of June, booooo) and so we are trying to settle P at the childminder. She went for 2hrs today while her brother was at playgroup but cried everytime the childminder put her down - I know she will get used to it but she looked so sad when I picked her up. She's also going through separation anxiety generally.. we're trying again later in the week when DS will be there too so hopefully that might ease things.

Sorry such a long post!

bebejones · 27/04/2009 21:01

Sorry for the hysterically excited posting earlier...no one i phoned was in & i knew you guys would understand!

Food situation was improved today...although only gave her stuff she could hold (except fromage frais) gave her toast with pureed chicken & sweet potato on & she loved it! Think sneak attack nutrition is the key at the moment!!

Must go finish my dinner! TTFN

Isaidno · 27/04/2009 21:35

bad mummy here Poppy has had her first trip to a&e. We have these foldy snack tables and one fell on her face when she was lying on the floor. I was out of the room at the time when she suddenly began to scream. She has a bump, and a bruised cheek, but she's ok. a&e was just a precaution really.

bebe - standing woo hoo!
pigley - sleeping woo hoo!

sweetkitty · 28/04/2009 17:22

hi been reading just not had time to post, DP been to the doctors today and has infected eyes and tonsilitis, he is falling apart lol. The big two are feeling a lot better as is B we still have the snots aplenty but today is the first day no one has had any calpol.

Isaidno - first of many bumps, hope she is OK

bebe - well done P, she looks like one of those babies who will bypass crawling and go straight to walking. It is strange how they all do it differently and at different times too but they all get to the same end point, i.e. running away from us Bethany gets in the most bits of whatever everyone else is eating too, she does like her food and rarely spits anything out.

minniemummy - aww poor P with all her teeth coming through at once, hope they all come through quick and not too painful for her

pigley - great news about Abigails's sleeping and

Momma23 - hope L is less whingy today, B isn't whingy just likes everything her own way, food not coming fast enough = scream, something in her way crawling = scream, bad Mummy takes something naughty off her = scream

minipink - oh no poor little Abbie hope she is on the mend soon

Hello to anyone else I have missed, better go sort the dinner out

Rumpel · 28/04/2009 20:19

Hi all - been really busy the last wee while so hope all the poorly babies are feeling better and all the sleep deprived Mummies are getting a bit more sleep - mind you summer mornings without black out blinds are .

Organising stuff for a maternity/kids car boot sale on Sunday, have VIP tickets for the opening of a high filuting softplay on Friday evening. Dh got home last Wednesday and it's been manic. Had an Anne Summers party Friday night - was a hoot and finally after 2+ years got around to buying a pole and am starting lessons again next Wednesday . Bloody hard work but great for toning and weight loss. This time I have a friend coming so it should be better.

still struggling with weight loss here although feeling a bit better - too much alcohol on Friday though didn't get to bed until 3.30am then was up at 6.30am looking after 2 2.5 year olds and Calvin

MOMMA - fingers x your not.
SK - your poor man sounds run down (pardon the pun) hope your DDs are behaving themselves.

JODIE - potty training going well here too although she keeps pooing in her pants! Had her at GP Friday - they reckon she may have a tear in her rectum due to the chronic constipation so gave her morvicol (?) It's so frustrating as she drinks masses, eats fruit and veg and is always on the go! Apparently it is hereditary and my Mum suffered when she was young to. How is your running going? What is your profession? I do hope you get a job soon and I'll be sending head hunting vibes your way

M2L - how are you? Are you in the Middle East at the mo'? Hope your well.

No crawling here, 2 teeth now though - 1 last Saturday and 1 this Saturday. Got him a babywalker on Sunday and he adores it.

CASS - I've missed bellydancing the last 4 weeks as DH was away and the Dcs were ill but I have a 2 hour Bollywood style class this Thursday - really looking forward to it!

Well am off to see DH

Sleep well littlies so us Mummies can too!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

pigleychez · 28/04/2009 20:51

Hello,

Like SK ive been catch up but everytime I go to post Abigail is up to some mischief or something happens that i just dont get round to it!

Bebe- Well done to P on the standing Do you mean pulling herself up to standing or standing unaided?
Glad the feeding is improving. Abigail is doing so well wth the BLW now. She loves joining in with us. She has great control with her spoon and fork now and partically enjoys my shepherds pie and fish pie

Minniemum- the surveys only deal with the struture of the building really. It does say a new boiler is advisable which we had thought anyway as it looked very old but just had not expected it to be quite so dangerous.
4 teeth- wow! We still dont have any!
Hope things go ok with the childminder. It will get better

Isaidno- Dont feel bad... Its bound to happen, At least shes OK. Abigail pulled the highchair down on herself the other day.

SK- Glad the girls are picking up but poor DP

Rumpel- Oh yes! Black out blinds are on the shopping list for town on Sat!
Abigail slept 8-6 last night and happily played in her cot till DH's alarm at 7. Thats the first time since her birth that we havent got out of bed till the alarm!
The pole sounds fun!! DH would think all his xmas's had come at once!!
Poor DD's bottom

Been busy painting still, currently working on door frames and the chimney breast in the lounge which is a suede effect thats looking really good. Having a busy week this week visiting or be visited by lots of friends with thier little ones.

ponto · 28/04/2009 21:04

Well I have survived my first 'week' at work - only 2 days, I know I am lucky. Bryony was fine with my mum and didn't seem to miss me, she was very happy to see me in the evenings though. I actually quite enjoyed having some time to myself for a change, and it means I can talk to DH about something other than the dcs in the evening.

Rumpel, where do you keep your pole? Do you have to take your own to the class? Certainly sounds like a fun way to keep fit , not sure I'd have the courage to go along though.

SK, glad the Calpol is having a day off, though sounds like your dh could do with some!

Isaidno, hope Poppy's bruise fades soon. Is it in a place where random strangers are going to come up to you and ask what happened?

Bebe, I know what it's like to find out your LO has got a new skill and nobody else is that interested - fortunately I have now trained the dds to be more appreciative. Cue dd2 shouting "Look Mummy, Bryony's crawling. She's crawling Mummy! MUMMY, SHE'S CRAWLING!" every few minutes. I'm hoping the novelty will wear off soon (though she has been crawling for 3 weeks now)

I am about to fall asleep with my head in my laptop (all my energy has been used up by needing to use my brain at work) so will go and lie on the sofa for a bit before starting the sandwich making for tomorrow's lunches.

bebejones · 28/04/2009 21:34

Pigley - she can pull herself up to stand, if you 'help' her up holding her hands & let go she will stand for about 5 seconds before she realises there is nothing there & her legs go wobbly!! Was so excited when she just crawled over to the sofa & did it as if she had been doing it for ages!

Rumpel - your poor DD how horrid for her

Isaidno - Hope Poppy recovers from her traumatic experience quickly. P got scratched (accidently) by the cat when she was a week old, I was hysterical & made the whole thing worse, looking back I don't think she was actually really really hurt just more shocked by it all!

Have spent the entire day tidying the spare room to make it more officey for DH as it is looking unlikely that he will be able to return to his job. He will have to work from home which is very hard for him (and me) just too many distractions. I love him dearly but I am getting a bit sick of the moping (I know he is not well but it is exhausting) we have been spending 24 hours a day 7 days a week with each other for nearly 4 weeks!! It is driving me insane!! I am taking Phoebe to a baby music class 2moro, & although I am nervous about taking her on my own it will be good to have a little breathing space from DH!!

Poledra · 28/04/2009 22:05

Evening all

RUMPEL sorry to hear about your DD's bottom. If it's any consolation, I've been there with DD1, and she is growing out of it now (she's 5). She has been on Movicol for 2 years, and we vary her dose according to how she is doing (or going rather). We saw a paediatric urologist, mainly as she had 2 urinary infections within 12 months. They think she has an immature bowel, and her constipation was causing her UTIs. It's so unfair as she eats loads of fruit and veg, and has porridge most mornings for her breakfast. DD2, on the other hand, will not knowingly eat anything green and has never had a problem with poos - go figure!

Isaidno, someone had to be first with the visit to A&E - I had to take DD1 when she was about 5 months as I banged her head off a door frame as I carried her through a doorway - I still don't know how I managed it

Got to go do my internet shopping - got a chest freezer on Freecycle, so that's up and running in the garage and begging to be filled! Orlaith has been sleeping through the night too - roughly 8.30pm to 5.30ish in the morning for the last 5 days - long may it continue

minipinkscottish · 29/04/2009 08:20

Morning......night??? not sure what it is...Abbie still poorly and not sleeping much and when she is it's on me Note the one handed typing...

Have had to take week off work because my baby needs me - my poor wee honey

ponto · 29/04/2009 22:33

Hope you and Abbie have had a better day minipink. Dd2 has decided today that she wants me to call her Abigail (her name is Alice). Still, she was happy with the name I chose for the first 3 years of her life

Bebejones, sounds like you need to get out of the house a bit more to avoid cabin fever with dh! Guess it's hard with your MS - how's that going now?

Anyone else feeling a bit concerned about swine flu? All this doom and gloom on the news is making me worry in case the dds get it , I'm not particularly worried about me or dh, I feel we're pretty hardy.

pigleychez · 30/04/2009 11:39

Well I must say ponto that Abigail is a very good name choice Well done DD.

Not majorly concerned about the Swine flu at the moment as so far it has only effected those who have just returned from Mexico and not been passed on but i agree it does make you think. Epecially when I heard about the baby in America who died of it

Minipink- Sorry to hear that little Abbies still not well

Poledra- Yay on the sleeping through. Sadly ours has been short lived as the past 3 nights Abigail has decided to wake around 2 am and not go back to sleep for a couple of hours!!

bebe- Well done P! Abigail was the same.. just did it as if it was a piece of cake and been doing it for years! Shes started making her way around the furniture now and venture towards the stairs so Stairgates are on the top of the shopping list!!

Well must get on... Abigails watching a baby Einstein DVD so I can get on with a few urgent bits (so why am I on MN!!)

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 30/04/2009 11:52

ohh hello all, how is everyone, looks like we have lots of movers amongst us now! (quick question how do you keep your TVs safe?)

I've been around but mumsnet is SO big and there is so much stuff to read along with being back at work and losing the baby weight that I have been neglecting this thread which is naughty of me as you have offered so much support.

isaidno - My DH is an A&E doc so hopefully I won't be making any visits unless absolutely necessary, but he says they love seeing well babies in there!

mini - hope A feels better soon.

poldedra - very jealous of the sleep, long may she continue sleeping like that.

bebe - baby music class sounds like a good plan - do you get a cup of tea and biscuit as well?

sorry just a quick catch up, I have read the posts and will try and keep on top of things from now on!
