Hi laydeez

Thanks for get well messages for Louis, he's finished his antib's but not convinced the ear infection is gone- still pulling his ear about and shaking his head lots.

SK the symptoms you describe for Bethany (on/off/on/off boob, bite, cry, turn away, repeat etc etc) are exactly what Lou was doing before this ear infection reared its head. It was for a couple of weeks too, I was so concerned I even posted a whole other thread about it! I think that he may have had a sore throat, probably part of the same bug as caused the ear infection eventually. I had been suffering from a sore throat without any other symptoms since we went away for the weekend to cornwall in early march but hadn't put 2 and 2 together. Poor little chap, it was hurting every time he swallowed I guess- no wonder he had a love/hate thing with my boobs going on!

Ponto, good luck at work. The thought of going back after number 2 isn't quite as scary as first time round is it? I went in today for a while to talk about reducing my hours/the potential job share and it all looks quite promising. Finger crossed things go well for you next week.

Pigley I love Abigails room on FB! So pretty, and quick off the mark too

Am sleep deprived and work addled so brain won't let me remember what else has been said! Sorry. Hope everyone is ok.

Poledra · 22/04/2009 21:36

bebejones, have you tried variable flow teats? I used these with DDs 1 and 2 - they have a cross-cut on the teat, so the harder the baby sucks, the faster the milk flows IYSWIM.

pigleychez · 22/04/2009 22:15

Evening all,

Well the boiler man came earlier to check out any queiry we had, Looked at the actual boiler this time and was horrified! The boiler is about 30yrs (but still working ok) Trouble is it was fitted badly with lots of illegal pipework, no ventilation that the old type boilers need and is basically slowly leaking Carbon Monoxide!
The whole thing has been turned off now for safety! I'm scared to think what could of happened if we hadnt got it looked at! Thankfully as the weathers been nice ive had all the windows and patio doors open.
We now are having a boiler fitted, so bang goes the money we had saved to get the drive done- oh well.. Ill have to practice my parallel parking skills
Boiler is going to be moved from the kitchen to the airing cupboard so will mean one corner of the kitchen will need re plastering and derocating. I had started painting but will hold off now until its finished.

aahh what a night!

Anyway..

Poledra- Glad O slept better last night for you. Abigails been sleping better too lately. 8pm till 4/5 ish and when she wakes she can usually be patted back off till about 6ish. I think her new found crawling is wearing her out!

Jodie- The potty training sounds like its going really well Keep it up DS1

Sk- Yay for your good night Hope little B feels better soon. I had it when they cant breathe like that

Bebe- Well done P on the crawling Abigail wasnt very gracefiul at first either but boy shes got it now!!
Did DH see the right Therapist?? Sure it wasnt a sex therapist he saw??

Red- Finger crossed Louis is getting over it now

sweetkitty · 23/04/2009 16:44

where is everyone enjoying the sunshine some of us are in the rain you know?

Momma23 · 23/04/2009 20:49

SK
Rain here too this evening! How is B and the snotty nose doing.

Pigley
I bet you feel like yer throwing cash with the wind lately!

L still not crawling sont think she will. Got some rubarb plants today so going to sow them tommorw. Days just feel like there flying away!

ponto · 23/04/2009 20:59

Sorry SK, I have to admit to enjoying the sunshine - it was dd1's 6th birthday today and we had a lovely time. Bryony sat in the garden in her highchair eating a birthday tea of egg sandwiches, cocktail sausages, Quavers, chocolate cake and jelly! You should have seen her face, she was cramming it in and opening her mouth wide for more. Can you tell she's not a PFB??

Bebe, glad to hear you have a mobile baby. at your dh's reasoning on the sex thing!

Pigley, bad news about your boiler. At least the warmer weather's here so you won't freeze while it's out of action. Did you have your house surveyed before you bought it? Should the surveyor have picked up on that?

RedSal, I'm not sure about the going back to work thing - you're probably right, going back after number 2 wasn't too bad, but now after number 3, I'm feeling worried about how I will cope with combining running the house with being out at work. I've been feeling quite down about my inability to keep the house tidy while I've been a SAHM. DH does very little in the house and never used to criticise, but he has been a bit critical lately. I feel about it all and I can't seem to motivate myself to change things.

Also feeling about the way I look at the moment. SK made a nice comment about one of my FB photos but I feel fat and frumpy. None of my work clothes fit properly and I'm reluctant to buy more in a bigger size as it just depresses me.

cass66 · 23/04/2009 21:15

AAAhhhh. Have just tried on all my non feeding bras, only 4 out of 20 fit, and those not really very well......

Oh, well, I feel a trip to Bravissimo in Leeds coming on...

(and yes, before anyone comments, I have a bit of a lingerie addiction....)

...but Ed is sleeping through the night now he's on 4-5 bottles a day!! I feel a bit sad, but I dont think he misses me.....

sweetkitty · 23/04/2009 22:32

Evening all update on my snot monster, was debating whether to take her to the GP or not but she seems a bit more perky still snot city thought. A friend gave me one of those Karvol plug in things to see if it helps her tonight, so have sent her to bed with some Calpol and that will see how she gets on.

cass - I used to have a Lingerie addiction as well, nowadays if it's clean and doesn't have milk stains on it, it's a bonus. Glad Ed is sleeping through the night too.

ponto - glad your DD1 had a nice birthday, so with you on the non PFB front, B had some white buttons today and was trying to swipe them out my hand. Am so with you on the inability to keep the house tidy, mine is a tip I have all these plans every day then the day runs away with me and I also fell guilty that I haven't spent enough time with the girls and think I haven't sat down all day what have I been doing??? You do look lovely btw

Momma23 - be careful what you wish for, in a few weeks when L is crawling you will wish she wasn't, B is in at everything and I spend the whole time picking up things the other two have dropped so she doesn't eat them, now she has her pincer grip mastered it's even worse.

pigley - forgot to say what a nightmare about your boiler

minipinkscottish · 24/04/2009 09:24

Hello all just checking in
hope all the babies with colds and sore ears are feeling a bit better

I have posted a really cute photo of Abbie on profile if anyone want a look

Momma23 · 24/04/2009 10:28

cass66
GOD i NEED new bras so bad! and need a fitting. I have been trying to get to town for the last two months but still not happening. I even think i have fropped a size.

minipinkscottish
SOOOoo cute, Its the way she is holding her hands. Love pics like that kinds caught in the moment ones.

True SK its bad enough she is in to everything in the walker alone and DD2 is still pulling at everything. Did the plug in carvol work? I use the capsul ones on L and even went for olbus oil the last time.

Ponto
LOL at B and the party food.. L is just like that, putting everything in at once these days.

Question
Do you give Lo raisins yet? L is mad for them. SIL nearly had a fit when she seen her eating them. She'll choke is all i was hearing, but i think she is fine as she loves them, there good for her, and she can manage to eat them no problem. She kinda made me think of my parenting skills and felt a little "your the worst mammy in the world" after.

Weather crap here today and i feel crap! was up to DD3 last night and felt so sick, have been feeling this for a while esp in the morning!! Im on the pill so better not be up the duff cause i really dont think i would cope...

Poledra · 24/04/2009 13:29

Aaargh, I am such a crap mum. I was having a great morning too. Dropped DD1 off at school, along with loads of bits and pieces she needed (and didn't tell me about till the last minute) then went to the local shops. Got home. stripped all the covers, hood etc off the pram and put them in the machine. Made beds, vacuumed all the upstairs, tidied the kitchen. Then looked at my watch and realised I had forgotten all about DD2's swimming lesson and she'd missed it!! She loves her lessons and I just feel so crap for concentrating so much on
the sodding housework that I forgot.

I'm off to bang my head off a brick wall some more

Hope everyone else is having better days.

ponto · 24/04/2009 20:14

Oh Poledra, don't beat yourself up about it, we all have moments like that. Could you take dd2 swimming at the weekend to make up for missing her lesson?

Went to baby signing class with Bryony today, which we both enjoyed. She clapped for the first time while we were there, so it's encouraged me to think that she might be able to learn some signs. Anyone else doing signing? I didn't do it with the other 2 dds as I thought I wouldn't remember to use it all the time. This time I am less hung up on doing things 'properly' so I thought I would give it a go.

Momma23, fingers crossed you are not pg! My friend is about to have her 4th son, she is overdue and I was telling her to 'relax and enjoy your last few days without a baby.' Then I remembered she already has 3 dss, the oldest is only 6, how can she possibly relax! I am in awe of you all with 4 or more dcs, there is no way I am going there if I can possibly help it!

sweetkitty · 24/04/2009 21:49

Evening all well it gets better in this house, both DD1 and DP were off nursery and work today, both with temperatures and feeling rough, DP mega stressed as he is flying to London tomorrow morning for the marathon and theres no way he will not do it. SIL is coming up tomorrow for a gilry sleepover so girls mega excited.

ponto - well done on the baby signing, it's something I also think about but never get around to doing.

poledra - you are so not a crap mum these things happen, I am always feeling guilty about something or another, today I though once B is down for her nap I will clean the bathrooms but then DD1 said to me "Mummy can you come play with me you are always busy", the bathrooms remained uncleaned and we had great fun playing Bratz and Disney Princesses although I kept getting told off for forgetting their names.

Momma23 - I think the Carvol did help a bit, I think she may be getting over it a bit now, she is back to her normal self, she is so fiesty and if she doesn't like something she lets you know about it and then some. Doesn't like being cuddled, stroked, hands held etc but loves being thrown about and jiggled. Strange strange baby.

Oh raisins yes I give her them, I think your SIL is getting confused with whole grapes, raisins are smaller, I give B bits of grape without the skin too. You honestly think you might be pregnant

minipink - gorgeous pic of Abbie

Right am off to help DP pack, men are so useless at packing.

JODIEwantsanewname · 24/04/2009 22:04

poledra Don't beat yourself up about it, these things happen, I'm sure you'll make it up to her!

SK Oh no! poor DH, I hope he is OK for Sunday, will be thinking of him

momma23 fingers crossed for you.

Well I went to 'sign on' today. , it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it's still a shame. I've never been unemployed before . I drpped my CV off at all the resteraunts in town yesterday, I must have walked miles! hopefully something will turn up soon, I have £9.36 in my bank account luckily I have loads of Boots points for nappies!

Potty training going well, he even took himself off for a poo this morning (but not tonight!) The only thing is he wants to 'do it like daddy' and his aim isn't brilliant

Momma23 · 24/04/2009 22:10

Quick post as ramsey is on!

SK
Thats what i though on the raisins too, poor child loves them and SIL nearly had heart attack when she seen her.
Hope Dp and DD1 are feeling a little better.
No i dont think i am PG we i hope im not! You know that sickie feeling, have it all night and in the morning!!! Last AF was not a proper one. Not even thinking about it as i am to scared i am. Maybe i am not eating enough... O i dont know, not thinking about it (burrys head in sand)

Poledra
Hope you are feeling a bit better and no i can promise you that your not the worst mam in the world.

Have to go ramseys is on!

sweetkitty · 24/04/2009 22:12

Well I found a raisin in DD2's nappy twice when she was 3 months old, DD1 was feeding her them when I wasn't looking

Only thing is about raisins is they go through to the other end whole but swell up. If your SIL is horrified we are both Mums of 3 and think it is fine so there

Get a test and stop worrying, I had to do it when I had a "thought"

Poledra · 24/04/2009 23:27

Thanks for all the kind words, ladiea - I was extra nice to DD2 all day (loads of stories, trip to the park before collecting DD1 from school). Ponto, good idea to take her swimming over the weekend to make up - might try and get there on Sunday.

Raisins - arf! I remember DH coming to me in horror with one of DD1's nappies asking 'wtf is that??' 'Twas a sultana, bleached of all colour and rehydrated. I think he thought she had some terrible bowel problem. I certainly let Orlaith have sultanas/raisins. I don't peel grapes but do cut them into quarters for O so she doesn't choke. She's been a bit constipated this week, so I'm encouraging the fruit and also lots of water to keep her going.

Oh, some sounds from O - best get upstairs and get to bed. Sleep well, babies and mums.

Isaidno · 25/04/2009 07:40

poppy loves raisins (and crisps, chips, biscuits, cocktail sausages - she's not a pfb!)

Sorry to hear about your boiler pigley I have been painting the bathroom after hearing about all your decorating.

SK - hope your dh does well in the marathon today.

bebe - my dh would use any excuse for more sex!! He got a letter confirming his semen sample had no sperm so we celebrated with sex. (His idea, but it was nice knowing no more worrying about getting pg - sex purely for recreation from now on.)
momma23 - just do a test then you will know and can either stop worrying or deal with it! 4 dc is a nice even number....

nursing a hangover here; I should know better at my age.

Isaidno · 25/04/2009 07:42

cass - wore a no nursing bra last night - it was ok when I put it on but the cups were spilling over by the end of the evening!! I looked like a carry on character.

Poledra · 25/04/2009 10:05

Good luck MrKitty for the marathon today!!

sweetkitty · 25/04/2009 15:10

Marathon tomorrow but thanks for the best wishes messages.

Quite nice today so we have all been out in the garden just come in to put B to bed for her nap (could have quite happily gone with her but don't know what state the house would be in if I did), was up at 5am this morning to see DP off, counted that I had been up 5 times in the night no wonder I am so tired.

SIL coming up in a bit for a sleepover, girls are so excited they love SIL. We are going to watch girly DVDs.

JODIEwantsanewname · 25/04/2009 20:48

Good luck SK's DH

I;ve been up since 4.30 too, Sam woke (he's got a cold, so all snuffly ) Which in turn woke Oliver and DH was away last night as he climbed Snowdon yesterday (the long way round! ) so even when Sam went back off at 6am, Oli was up and raring to go [yawn] I;m off to bed soon.

I bought the DS's a small paddling pool the other day and we tested it out today, was fab (Sam couldn't go in as I was worried about his cold, even though he was desperate too!) DS1 loved it, DH bought him his sandpit today too (his belated easter pressie) so he's had a good day I think! I love the summer, I don't think I've watched any Ceebeebies for days!!!

I'm with you all on needing new bras, I love getting new undies, I'm slowly replacing all my manky old ones, one in one out!

OP posts:
ponto · 25/04/2009 22:03

Think I might have to try Bryony on raisins now after all your recommendations. I've tried her with half grapes but I can't be bothered to peel them and she chokes on the skin.

Good luck SK's dh in the marathon.

Have just been chatting with a friend about us both being 2 stone overweight, she has joined weightwatchers, I am in 2 minds whether to do the same (unfortunately she doesn't live near me so we wouldn't go to classes together). Has anyone else still got baby weight to lose? Jodie, Rumpel (as was), how's it going? Our support thread foundered - never a good sign!

Have had a manic day here, dd1 had her 'proper' birthday party at the leisure centre, so I was doing food and party bags for 30 kids (her whole class - I was quite disappointed that we didn't have more people who refused the invitation!). They had a huge bouncy castle obstacle course thing, which was great fun, but they were all so thirsty, I was asked for a drink approximately every 30 seconds all afternoon. Dh entertained Bryony by letting her sit at the bottom of the slide to watch, and feeding her pizza. Enjoying a glass of wine and a MN catch-up now (me, not Bryony).

JODIEwantsanewname · 25/04/2009 22:43

Ponto, I know our little support thread disappeared, but I joined another one and we are doing great guns, only 5 or 6 of us on there, but it's great, come over if you want I've lost just over a stone now, but still another stone and 4lbs to go! [Hmm]
