Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bramshott · 03/04/2009 14:18

Hello everyone.

Well I've just had a big panic here - O fell off her ride-on on the patio and banged her head, promptly screamed and then went all floppy with rolling eyes (arggh!). Cue much panicked phoning, rushing to the doctors etc, but it transpires she is fine and is now polishing off chocolate Easter chicks on the sofa (I can see she's going to be allowed to get away with murder for the rest of the day)! Phew! So scary though.

StealthPolarBear · 03/04/2009 14:47

ooh bet that was scary! Glad she is OK, I can imagine your relief.
(I think she might need another chocolate BTW )

Eeek at the fall Bramshott, relieved she's ok.

Saw HV for weighinand practice nurse for jabs this morning (separate appointments in different places. He's gained 270g - more than 9 oz - in 8 days so that was pleasing. I found the jabs quite upsetting though, and they were running very late and I dozed off in the waiting room Xmas Blush (bfing has that effect on me). I think she's the same practice nurse who told me off for taking D in a babygro for his first jabs rather than jeans, after keeping me waiting 40 minutes from the appointment time. I was prepared this time and took C in pyjamas.

StealthPolarBear · 03/04/2009 15:03

at weight gain
Are you still doing babygros for the first few months with C? I can't wait to have someone to dress in babygros again

OP posts:
elkiedee · 03/04/2009 15:36

SPB, yes, absolutely with the babygros. There's a fun thread about dressing LOs in babygros not "proper" clothes. C has some really nice ones, some inherited from his brother and a few new ones we've been bought or given. D still sleeps in babygros at night and I couldn't resist a few matching ones, though I'll probably use pjs or just vests in really hot weather, and D is about to grow out of his 18-24 month babygros and only has a few 2-3 ones.

Actually, I think the nicest babygro designs have a lot to answer for, I'm already sniffing sadly as I pack away stuff C is too big for. I'm not sure I can send them back to Ilkley to store, as my mum seems to think I've made a definite decision to stop at 2.

Bramshott · 03/04/2009 17:37

Thanks for the kind words SPB and Elkie. I think it's ME who's needed the chocolate!!

liath · 03/04/2009 17:37

Hi everyone!

What a fright, Bramshott . Glad all is well.

Weight gain sounds good, Elkie.

I'm an auntie again . My sister had a lovely homebirth which was almost a carbon copy of mine down to the second midwife not arriving in time & my mum stepping into the breach again!! A little girl and no name yet.

StealthPolarBear · 03/04/2009 17:49

Wow - congratulations to your sister and to aunty liath of course!

CaptainDippy · 03/04/2009 19:40

Congratulations to your sis Liath - your mum rocks!!

Mad day here and now off out to Book Group. I have got to be crazy!!!!!!!!

Laters ....

CaptainDippy · 03/04/2009 19:42

Soooo glad O is all right btw, Bramshott. Scary stuff. Any choc chicks left for you tonight??

Northernlurker · 03/04/2009 21:02

Hi all

Dippy - adoption sounds scary but exciting!

Liath - your mum needs to retrain as a midwife or leave the country when you lot are due - you're just taking advantage of her!

Bramshott - how scary - glad she seems ok though.

Elkie - GREAT NEWS on the weight gain! You are doing fantastically - it's really inspirational you know.

All fine here, dd2 been to a egg hunt party today. Big girls are off to my parents tommorrow so as dh is away a bit next week it's going to be just me and little Miss Bea. I'm hoping to catch up with the laundry.......

leakyR · 03/04/2009 22:38

Evening all

I really must go to bed when I finish this.

Bramshott - at the fright you must have had. Glad all is well.

CD - Think it's wonderful you're considering adoption.

Elkie - at weight gain! Well done!

Congratulations Aunty Liath - your mum sounds like a good woman to have aroung in an emergency! What a lovely thing to able to tell her grandchildren.

Loving having my mam to stay, she is nesting on my behalf. Although she keeps talking about how much lower my bump looks this week. Doesn't think I'll be waiting until May!

Dh bit emotional tonight. His folks called to say that his grandad has been admitted to hospital. He's 92 and this will be the second time in 6 weeks he's been taken in. Last time his sodium levels were high and they thought he may have got his meds mixed up (apparently not) This time he has been unwell and off his food all week. GP took a blood test this am, results were due this afternoon but didn't come through. They decided to admit him anyway to keep an eye on him rather than wait until Monday. ILs don't seem too concerned but think with all the stuff with his sis this week and his awful medical phobia dh is just struggling a bit.

StealthPolarBear · 04/04/2009 07:45

Forgot to say happy birthday to Milo! Couldn't MN from work that day so knew I would.
Hope he had a good day

Leaky, sorry to hear about your DH's grandad - hope he is home soon.
Had a dreadful night last night after a week of pretty much sleeping through every night! Up at 2, 4, winge at 5 and then up at 6

OP posts:
liath · 04/04/2009 08:01

Urgh SPB. What a pants night.

Leaky, hope your DH's Grandpa is OK.

My mum used to be a midwife (in the 1960s....) but didn't like midwifery so stuck to being a nurse. She was just fantastic when I was in labour - I reckon we should hire her out as a doula .

Sexonlegs · 04/04/2009 09:41

Morning all.

Bramshott, how frightening for you. Glad O is ok.

Leaky, sorry to hear about your dh's grandad. Really lovely for you to have time with your Mum.

SPB, what a pants night indeed. Let's hope it is a blip.

Liath, congrats to your sister and family. Sounds a lovely experience.

Hope everyone is well.

All ok here. Was out last night for a meal and out again tonight Xmas Grin Poor dh!

Right, need to haul arse in the shower. Off for a cycle later as part of my training!!

Sexonlegs · 04/04/2009 09:42

eh?? Says put an f in front of the emoticon, but they have put a b infront of it..

MJreturns · 04/04/2009 10:45

Sounds rough SPB, hope you get some chance to rest up a bit today x

Congratulations to Aunty Liath, fab news

Elkie, really pleased to hear that C is doing well Think its a bloody cheek of the practice nurse to pass comment about what C was wearing though , none of her business!

Not much to report here, have been in work for the last couple of days. Ds is at my mum's as he slept over last night, dh is having a fishing weekend so it is just me and Fi today!

MJreturns · 04/04/2009 10:46

Enjoy your night out SOL

StealthPolarBear · 04/04/2009 11:43

I think I've been on MN too long !

Hope T has a better night, SPB & he's not coming down with something.

oooggs · 04/04/2009 21:37
