Welcome ladies

Well, there's no crawling going on in our house, but there's defo some separation anxiety bawling going on .... tears, screaming, the works - oh joy!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
potxola · 04/04/2009 10:33

I forgo to say, the Napsack is a Mei-Tai

imoscarsmum · 04/04/2009 11:28

"DD is rolling around on the floor bashing DS's blocks over at the moment , DS is suprisingly tolerant of it. "

Oh meglet i misread this and LMAO when i realised it was your Ds's blocks, thought you'd put a rudey word down!!

imoscarsmum · 04/04/2009 11:31

Btw, found a great finger food receipe here. gona try it today, after watching the National of course.

DebiTheScot · 04/04/2009 12:57

imoscarsmum my ds2 ate prawns the other day too, he seemed to love them, ate quite a few.

potxola we have the same thing here too, ds1 is eating things he wouldn't eat before because ds2 is eating them. And he always finishes his meals as he can see ds2 going after them.

Also potxola we've found that if its the middle of the night ds1 doesn't seem to wake if ds2 is crying- we thought he would but it's only the guy next door who gets disturbed (and then lets us know, )
Saying that though, we've had 4 nights in a row where ds2 hasn't been disturbed by us coming to bed and has slept until about 4.30 then had a very short feed then slept till 7ish and woken up happy rather than screaming.

Meglet · 04/04/2009 13:09

LOL imoscarsmum it could have looked rude couldn't it!!

We went to the garden centre this morning. DD was in the sling and DS had his reins on but sat on the huge flat trolley on top of the compost bags. He only fell off once, then learnt his lesson and sat sensibly.

I've had a very sheltered (mainly veggie life) and never eaten a prawn . Mussels look tempting though.

Ponymum · 04/04/2009 16:06

Meglet, we are having mussels for dinner tonight. Really easy and yummy, just steamed in a pot with a glass of white wine then served with oven chips and garlic mayo.

I like the bunnies , but agree that is a bit rude!

So sorry for people with neighbour problems. That's just an extra layer of problems that nobody should have to deal with.

Poor DD is still vomiting big amounts 2-3 times per day. We keep thinking she is all better, then a big waterfall starts flowing out of her mouth. She is really well in herself though, and often even really chirpy straight after being sick when we are cleaning her up! Babies are amazing.

In between the norovirus and the breast pump sagas this week I had some amazing news: I had a call from a national newspaper who want to publish an article I wrote! I can't believe it as I have been trying to get a side career in writing going for ages. Then had an unexpected call last night from the photographer (Fabio, truly that's his name) saying he needed to photograph me for the article today. So had a mad panic trying to find some clothes that (a) hadn't been vomited on, and (b) might be vaguely slimming for my moment of literary glory. Was quite hilarious, being a photo model for the morning!

Ooo, Grand National about to start! Horsies!

Ponymum · 04/04/2009 16:07

Sorry I went so overboard with the bunnies.

Ponymum · 04/04/2009 16:08

...

plusonemore · 04/04/2009 19:11

hi all, Alfie is really having fun with BLW, loves loaded spoons best so he can slurp off whatever. Has enjoyed messing about with sticks of broc, carrot, pear, rice cakes, organix biscuits, melon and really loved peedled grapes! (i held onto it and he munched away) Am sort of making it up depending on what we're doing but he is mostly having breakfast and tea- that OK do you reckon? Imoscars that link didnt work for me, I'm intrigued though, what is it?

Any babies talking? Was looking in ds1 s book and i have him down for 'dada', clapping and crawling at 6 months!! Think he may be crawling soon but not sure bout the others. Getting excited about booking a holiday in wales at the moment.

Had something to say but cant remember now...get back to you later when brain kicks in!

DebiTheScot · 04/04/2009 19:27

I looked back on mn earlier at what ds1 was doing at 7 months old and found it quite amusing. He was stressing us out because he wouldn't let us feed him anything except yoghurt and only wanted to eat finger foods and I thought that wasn't good! Oh how things change. Also he was on the 91st percentile at birth and at 7months so why on earth was I stressing about what he ate?!
He's not talking and I don't think he's as noisy as ds1 was at that age although he does like to copy ds1 when he starts screeching!

Booked our summer holiday today. Going to Portugal with the in-laws for 2 weeks at end July. They're paying for the villa so we just need to pay for the flights and they were only £450 for the 4 of us with BA! We're staying somewhere near Lisbon so should get a coolish breeze and will hopefully not be unbareably hot.
We're also going to Gibraltar in May to stay with friends for a week so we're spoiled for holidays this year.

Both boys have just gone to bed earlier than usual and both dosed up with calpol. And I'm going out babysitting so hopefully neither of them will give dh any bother.

imoscarsmum · 04/04/2009 20:36

Bugger - the link is broken. They are called Grandma's groovy Cheese Flapjacks at www.mumsnet.com/Recipes?call=RecipePage&pid=3086

Ooh, ooh - I got the winner and 4th place at the National - I won £170!!!!!

imoscarsmum · 04/04/2009 20:43

plusone at the moment, c is having a 'proper' breakfast & tea and lunch is always finger good which she only eats bits of while she hones her blw skills.
I reckon if I gave her 3 'proper' meals a day, she wouldn;t get enough milk as she loves food but has a teeny tiny appetite. Not worried, i was tiny at her age (she's 6.5m and 16lb), but she is clearly meant to be small (where does she get it from??!! Oh yeah, I put on weight )
Ooh, pasta and anchovies calling, must go pour wine.....

Ponymum · 04/04/2009 21:23

plusone DD is definitely saying 'hello', and we think also 'dada' just in the last couple of days. Several times we swear she has said 'hello dada'! Or perhaps we are just over-interprative first-time parents.

imoscarsmum 1st and 4th!! Well done. DH said to me when the race finished - imagine if you'd put £10 on that 100-1 winner. I wish!

debithescot nice holidays! With my redundancy we thought we couldn't do anything fancy, but amazingly I recently won two free flights to anywhere in Europe in a Lufthansa competition!! We are thinking of walking in Switzerland or Austria, now that DD is happy in the possum backpack. Just need to find some cheap/free accommodation now!

DebiTheScot · 05/04/2009 13:37

ponymum can I come too? That's my kind of holiday (although I do like more lazy holidays too) but dh and his parents don't agree. My parents always do walking holidays (actually they've just got back from a week snow-shoeing in the Pyrenees) but I couldn't go on holiday with them!

DebiTheScot · 05/04/2009 14:42

when are you going to be in the paper pony? And what paper? You'll have to tell us so we can buy it. Well done for getting published

plusonemore · 05/04/2009 19:16

I know what I have been meaning to ask!!!! Anyone else still not had a period???!!! ^months on and only bfeeding first feed in the morning, on the mini pill...should they have started up by now?? Not that I'm complaining!!

plusonemore · 05/04/2009 19:17

thats 6 months...got carried away with the italics symbol

plusonemore · 05/04/2009 19:17

actually now I think of it, 6 months exactly right now I had a baby in my arms who was just 33 minutes old

digitalgirl · 05/04/2009 19:23

ponymum very impressed at 'hello dada'

A often says 'aoop' which sounds like 'help' usually when he's trying to get up off his back. Makes me laugh!

But really he's only just started babbling again in the last two days. I was actually beginning to worry before that as he's been so quiet apart from crying or just making that open mouthed humming noise (not using his lips or tongue at all).

Today he had butternut squash risotto. Very proud that he actually ate a dish I cooked rather than turning his nose up and making a grab for the breadsticks again.

He's growing up so fast. I still can't imagine that one day he'll be saying, 'Mummy Mummy, can you buy me that toy!'.

sunflower is the amber teething necklace working? Still no sign of any teeth in A's mouth, but he has a bloody good chomp on him.

digitalgirl · 05/04/2009 19:27

plusone - I thought I had one a few months ago, but it wasn't a real period, just a half day of spotting. Still breastfeeding 4-5 times a day, but have completely stopped nightfeeds. But, again, I think I'm about to start tonight, feeling very crampy and nauseous. Have sent DH for chocolate just in case.

My friend still hadn't had one when her DD was 7 months old and she'd given up BFing after 8 weeks. I suppose it's our body's way of protecting us while we still have a little one to care for.

becaroo · 05/04/2009 19:46

Hello all

Just popping in as I do most days to see what you and the little ones are all up to...dont post often because I live such a sad life I rarely have anything remotely interesting to say!!!!

Off to do housework now til "Lewis" starts at 9pm.....oh the excitement!!

(Not sure about these rather sinister looking bunnies )

ninja · 05/04/2009 19:49

I've also not had a period started at 4 months last time.

I'm getting babababababa and this morning gagagagaga and when she's upset mamamamama. She sings to herself and sometimes to my nipples when she's feeding!!

Getting a bit upset that I still weigh the same as before Christmas and have to roll around my middle. I just can't decide whether to buy nice clothes that fit or still to hope desperately that my old ones will fit me.

Baby ninja still not eating a whole pile

Ponymum · 05/04/2009 19:51

digigirl Yes, but it's not like she uses it correctly. She says 'hello dada' to me too.

plusone I have not had a period at all. I am breast feeding and on the minipill (well, until the vomiting virus last week - I have given up the pill now and have to think of something else.. ).

debi you can come on our alpine walking holiday with us! And thanks for the congrats. The article will be published in the Guardian Weekend magazine sometime in the next few weeks. So excited!

Ponymum · 05/04/2009 19:58

becaroo We are not even up to the excitement of Lewis.. it's Poirot for us tonight. So tragic.

On the contraception front, has anyone used a cap or diaphragm?
