Happy birthday debi. Enjoy your wine .

Its someone elses birthday this friday .

I still haven't caught up on our thread as its too big to read on my phone. I've been so ill for the last week and I should have made an effort to put the pc on and catch up.

My dad put dd's cot down to the low level today. I'm sure she's about to start pulling herself up so thought I'd better sort the cot out asap, didn't want her falling out!

I got the date for my hysterectomy today, 21st july . Now its a race against time to get dd onto 'big' food (not just avocado on toast!), potty train ds and do yoga like a woman posessed so I'm fighting fit in time for the op, and so my stomach is flat again. The tragic thing is that the time in hospital will be my first rest in nearly 3 years. It comes to something when a major op seems like a treat . I'm worried sick about it and I'll miss the dc's terribly but I'm going to be positive and look on it as a chance to catch up on some reading. But nothing that makes me laugh!

Ex p is behaving at the moment, no idea why- possibly on happy pills. He offered to take time off when I have the op to help with the dc's. Very odd.

I agree that looks like they're almost the same seat! My favourite feature of the mamas and papas over the maxi cosi one is that you don't have to feed the seatbelt through the back of the carseat, instead you put the lap belt round the front, and the shoulder strap threads through two very strong clips either side of the head rest. Interestingly the link shows m&p rated at no.3.
Right, back to Kevin and another Grand Design

CarrieBo · 29/04/2009 21:56

meglet. I hope you really do get a wonderful rest and recover well. And if it were to be someone's birthday on Friday, what sort of cake do you think they would like?

splishsplosh · 29/04/2009 22:44

Looking forward topmeeting you too, Carrie (if any of us are decisive enough to choose a location )

Lolly - you wouldn't have to drive into London at all - just round the M25 to the M23 (J7 I think offhand), then north on M23/A23.And locations so far suggested are on A23, so very straightforward, if that encourages you to come

Eek, I have actually chosen a childminder! Just waiting for her to phone back and confirm that she still has the vacancy etc. I'm so incredibly nervous about leaving T with anyone, but I think she is the best of the ones I've seen. Totally going with gut instinct, as she's also the busiest (she has a variation, so has up to 4 children at one time, although will go back down to 3 in Sept when the oldest one starts school), but I liked her a lot.
Now I just have to decide whether to go with one or two mornings a week, and how many hours for each one.

Just out of interest, how many of you have still got waking at night babies? T is still feeding twice a night (the second feed is usually just before 6am, but still...), and usually needing at least 2 resettlings in between those feeds. Where are the rest of you at?

digitalgirl · 30/04/2009 12:22

ME! DS still wakes once in the night, on and off. Sometimes sleeps through, but not always. Since starting work I've just decided to feed him whenever he wakes as it's the quickest way to get everyone back to sleep (sort of guilt-feeding).

meglet you are a very brave woman.

Working from home this morning. Can hear little one burbling away downstairs with his DGM. Best of both worlds . I am very pleased to be working again. Feel like my old self, but older, wiser and mumsier.

Sunshinemummy · 30/04/2009 13:27

Me too! DD also sleeps through sometimes, but wakes for food sometimes too. She's had milk in the middle of the night for the last few.

Just got back from a few days at Gitcombe House in Devon - twas bliss!

HAPPYBIRTHDAYDEBITHESCOT

Thanks for the car seat advice, i guess it is something we will all be thinking about soon. think we will be going for a vw touran so will look for a seat that fits their seats.

Congrats on the tooth baby Erin, we are nowhere near yet, which is good, i don't want hwer biting my nipples.

lolly if you look on Becaroo's profile it will show you what she has been posting on and you can nosy.

DebiTheScot · 30/04/2009 14:08

We've got the maxi cozy priori in our 2nd car and I think I prefer it to the Britax one, its so easy to fit and get secure and tight without a lot of effort. (but as I said the Britax was the only one that would fit in our main car. Also none of the highback boosters with 5 point harness fit that car! And its a people carrier!!)

I'm not meant to be here. Should be packing to go to Edinburgh for the weekend (and then to my parents for an extra day so i can see my Granny). But it's not easy as both dss are in bed and so I can't get at any clothes.
Also meant to be making a dvd of video clips I took of the boys to show my Granny in hosp so I suppose I should get that done.

If you see me here again today shout at me and take my cake back.

Sunshinemummy · 30/04/2009 14:30

I have Maxi Cosi Priorfix for DS which DD is now going to inherit as have just ordered DS Maxi Cosi Rodi booster seat. It's a fab car seat - safe and comfy.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/04/2009 14:35

M is about half and half. Sometimes he sleeps through, sometimes he doesn't. When he does wake in the night it is often about 5ish, so I go and feed him and he'll sleep until 7.30ish. If he sleeps through he can wake anytime from 6-7.

OP posts:
notcitrus · 30/04/2009 15:38

Since 6 months A has woken a lot more - if he goes down at 7.30 then there's usually 2 feeds at random times before getting up round 8.30. Someimes 1, sometimes four... but usually he settles immediately... except when he has a cold. Again... I'm now trying to do more bf in the day without him demanding it, to see if that helps.

He's started needing some nighttime nappy changes again too.

Debs75 · 30/04/2009 16:14

Robyn goes up about 8.30-9 has a feed then i leave her in my bed until i go to bed at 10.30-11. If i mover her she wakes up and she hasn't mastered going to sleep herself without a huge screaming fit. Most nights she sleeps till 6ish but some nights wakes at 2 for a 'snack'. I don't think she is hungry but i just can't resettle her so it is easier to give her a quick feed. She isn't sleeping well during the day unless she is feeding.

Rod is inserted very firmally in back.

Don't kjnow how we will manage when i waen her

ninja · 30/04/2009 18:22

Since going into her own room, M just been waking up 3 times rather than every hour . One of those is at 6 so maybe doesn't count.

Happy Birthdays!!

Jenbot · 30/04/2009 18:23

Quite similar to you Debs75 -
C goes to bed about 7.30-8.00, sleeps on my bed until I go up at 10.30-11.00.

But she tends to wake up 2 or 3 times now in the night, she didn't before, grr.

Again similarly she hasn't got the hang of going to sleep without a feed.

:tucks rod back under T shirt surreptitiously:

I can't really figure out how you change that when you've got into that pattern. Do you just decide to stop one day then let them cry until they fall asleep without?

Don't worry leonie there's no danger of moving ds to be forward facing yet, he's staying re-facing until his head reaches the top of his carseat - I think most of us in the discussion already have dcs and are expressing our opinions on what we've had for them!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/04/2009 19:40

DS meets all of the criteria for a forward facing car seat. He could no longer be squashed into his baby seat as his shoulders were too wide.

I'm getting there with stopping the feeding to sleep. I started with the nap that is the easiest for ds to drop off for (the first nap of the day). It went a lot easier than I thought it would and he actually falls asleep quicker and deeper than when he is fed to sleep.

DebiTheScot · 30/04/2009 19:41

that's what I was about to say too. I don't think any of us are yet. DS1 had to go forwards at 8 months because he got too long for the carseat but that wasn't ideal. We had no choice though.

I agree with you leonie but we really didn't have a choice. The Britax 1st class is the only forward facing one of that stage to fit our car properly. But it only fits properly when facing forwards. We had to make a decision between rear facing in a seat that didn't fit properly and forward facing at 8 months. As he was very long and heavy and strong and could sit for hours and pull himself up etc we decided on forwards facing. I guess we will never know if we made the right decision but it worked out ok.

Thankfully ds2 isn't as big or heavy so he'll last quite a bit longer in the one he's in.
