I am around next week. Monday ideally to avoid being here with the decorator here, but could do Tues pm, or Thursday.

spongebrainmaternitypants · 02/04/2009 19:00

Neenz, yuck, that sounds unpleasant - hope it's just a very passing bug .

P&P, sorry for giving you nightmares! And Rolf, lol at my new nickname!!

Essie3 · 02/04/2009 20:10

Five I forgot to comment because I looked at your photos yesterday, and you made my day with the little lamb! (Also you make pretty children!) Anglican Easter is much the same, although we wouldn't dream of mentioning the word 'mass'... You and Rolf would be quite at home at All Saints on Easter Sunday - incense and all. My favourite service of all possible services is the dawn Easter service. It's so wonderful. Couldn't go last year (5.30 am and morning sickness - no thanks) and probably won't be able to this year (get up at 5.30 if Iestyn is sleeping? I don't think so!).
But can I comment on the horrible juxtaposition of Five's Catholic Easter, and Neenz's porno thing! Yuck! Cups of tea have now been ruined for me. But can I just ask...Sponge, what kind of freaky threads do you visit where these terms are bandied about?

Puree, excellent (and also a good plan seeing as you're looking after Iestyn!) - you're in my neck of the woods (ish) anyway. So far, my week is very empty except that I'm having my hair done in Wimbledon on Wednesday, and will need to fit in a trip to IKEA on one day (but that's not a whole day, even for country bumpkins who don't see shops like me!) Ali totally free on Monday if you want to do something then, and get yourself away from the decorator. ( btw).

I have decided that I'm going to get Iestyn a swing for his first birthday. (Yes, I know, I have a bit of time!) He had his photo taken on the swing in nursery - loves it!

Amberc · 02/04/2009 20:12

Rolf Mark said he'd felt a few bags in his time.

Thanks so much everyone for caring about josey and I, it makes me feel lovely to know that you guys all worried for us. I thought about MN going to bed last night but we were tired and I hoped josey would be on, I wont do that again! (But there better not be any more crashes).

Am way behind as we're busy entertaining - I skim read so prob missed way too much. neenz, hope E's feeling okay.
systems glad you found a good dr who didn't just throw you on anti-d's, support is a big thing and it's taken for granted far too much
essie and amber I didn't like the baby stage too much either - the good thing is that the second time around you've got a fun toddler or child to keep you company when the baby is at the dull and demanding stage (I know some people love it, but for me things get fun at about 6 months).

Amberc · 02/04/2009 20:33

Oh Essie - I tried!

Upsidedowncake · 02/04/2009 20:42

IN brief, Abdn, Jsoey, glad everyone OK. Thinking of ypour communities though.

Love to all

UDC

DebInAustria · 02/04/2009 21:04

UDC - nice to see you

AH and Josey - so relieved to hear from you

Rolf - lol, I was googling Space cake today to give me inspiration for Stefan's star wars cake - I got re4cipes involving magic mushrooms and Marijuana (sp?)

whinegums · 02/04/2009 21:17

Can't leave you lot alone for five minutes... Filthy websites and Deb making a 9 year old a space cake for his birthday! Goodness me!

AH and J - I thought of you both when I heard the news - so very sad. I think we all forget how dangerous working offshore can be. Glad all ok with you two, but thinking of the families.

I'm going off to my mum's for a week tomorrow, and then meeting DP and his DDs on Good Friday at a cottage we've rented on the coast. Looking forward to a change of scene.

Systems, it does sound like you hit lucky with your doc, not that you're lucky to be suffering, but you know what I mean. Burbling again...

Rolf, dungarees are great aren't they, I've just bought some more for B - soooo cute. In general though I'm pretty underwhelmed by boys' clothes, the ones for girls are much nicer.

Neenz, hope you're back on form soon.

I've forgotten everything else I was going to say. Anyone seen Hedgehog lately? And Drama Queen has been a bit quiet too.

Hope everyone else is doing well x

Essie3 · 02/04/2009 21:18

Speaking of recipes - on a total whim I just made those cheese flapjacks, above right. My God, they're delicious! Rather low in fat too, and dead easy to make.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 02/04/2009 21:24

Now you see All Saints is NOvember 1st.

Have some more photos to put on tomorrow.

PiggyPenguin · 02/04/2009 21:39

Really quick post as have lost broadband at home and am doing this on dh's laptop and 3g card. Could be a while before I get online again, and need to change providers, so happy easter to everyone!

DebInAustria · 02/04/2009 23:09

Whinegums - have a lovely time away

Sybil - Happy Easter to you too.

Cake made (without the magic mushrooms), balloons blown up, have now had to make 2 lists of things to do from my original one. I now have a list to do before the party (tomorrow at 2.00) and a list of cleaning/tidying/etc etc jobs to do before viewing(Saturday at 2.00)Feeling just a little overwhelmed, fingers crossed that Ethan sleeps for 2 hours in the morning!

systemsaddict · 03/04/2009 06:37

Good luck Deb and I'm extremely impressed! We are probably joining you, Amber etc on the viewings front - have booked estate agent to come to prepare brochure next week for putting house on the market - finally. Terrible time to be doing it really given the way we're feeling right now but it was actually 5's mention of primary schools that did it, I looked into it and realised we have to make our selection for ds by this coming November and the choices here are pretty polarised in quality, so where we are living may well become important. I don't imagine anything will happen quickly anyway but it will at least force us to tidy up the house.

Yes, I thought hang on, All Saints is November, too! It does entertain me to see the things different people have in common on this thread - B&Bs, offshore husbands, Catholicism (current or lapsed), academic / research work, lawyer husbands, sheep, etc etc ....

AliandHerScallywag · 03/04/2009 07:47

Essie - Monday sounds good. Let's move over to email to sort out the details. Penguin are you around (and anyone else too of course)?

parofleurmapu · 03/04/2009 08:12

Morning!
Thanks for comments on feeds seems i am doing ok! But we cannot get away with feeding her at night so thinking of re introducing DF or bad idea?
I am sure it is hunger aand not a reaction as it doesnt seem to have any pattern of food relation But id prefer we were in charge of when she has feed rather than she demands it at 3am! Ive tried introducing a feed at pm but it made no difference and we dont have oatibix here but ive given her some cereal at 7pm but no help!!

Debs - ah ok! DP says good luck too!

Glad both AH and Josey family ok for other familes

Neenz im looking into childcare at mo in Holland seems you have to put childs name down b4 they are born!! only places for some days of week and as we dont know when we will be woorking bit difficult!! But seems we have to a get a place now! So think we will book few days at nursery and a childminder for other days. Ah and hope its a bug if you see what I mean!

Hi UDC Nice to see you popping in

On another note how are you coping with bumps and falls dont know if we are being OTT but here floors are all concrete/marble Fleur plays on rug but pulls herself up to sofa so ive put cushions on floor round outside so she doesnt bump head but just now she has missed cushion and fallen on floor and hit head on concrete floor. She screamed and then Moyles played COldplay and now she is fine!!
right have had tea back off to bed as fleur seems tired so off to catch some sleep too

mellymell · 03/04/2009 08:53

allnew and vivaglasvegas - we've been looking round the Wilmslow/Prestbury(if we can afford it)/alderley Edge areas. Got to find a school first then will decide on where we're going to live. Quite extraordinary area - have never seen so much ostentatious wealth in my life and am booking myself if for fake tan/boobs just to ensure I fit in at the school gates!!

Essie3 · 03/04/2009 09:31

Systems, Five, brain was in a lower gear clearly - I did wonder why you discussed All Saints. I should have said that the church is called All Saints church! But we do celebrate All Saints day good and proper there. I'm not Catholic, but I'm a medievalist by trade (!!) so I'm rather good on obscure facts of Catholic practice...!
Ali will e-mail.
mellymell I'm also familiar with that area - my SIL worked there but she and my brother couldn't afford to live there! But ostentatious wealth aside, it's a lovely area. But to be on the safe side I'd do tan, boobs and nails. I think you then get the hair extensions for free.

Paro we have hard floors here, and I got some foam mats from B&Q. A whole load - it's like I've carpeted my room with primary coloured foam mats! They're great though. You can get them from Argos but only in lilac, and also ELC, Tesco etc etc. But I've got away with it - Iestyn's play area is by a radiator, and he's not crawling (forwards) at the moment, so by the time I get back after Easter the heating will be off , so the radiator won't be a hazard. He's like a kitten though, and is drawn to all pieces of string, wire, cable...

Hello to everyone too - I've probably missed lots of important things!

spongebrainmaternitypants · 03/04/2009 10:32

Essie, would you believe that dragonbutter is actually someone's username?! She swears blind she didn't know what it was when she chose the name but, well, how on earth would you come up with that name otherwise? Yuck, that one made me want to barf!

The other one was from an AIBU thread where some woman had been asked to do something by her husband which she thought was disgusting - she was given a really hard time for being sexually naive and then all these terms were being bandied around that I'd never heard of! I didn't post!!

paro, she was probably screaming cos you were listening to Moyles - he always has that affect on me!! Seriously though, we have tiles in the kitchen and conservatory and we do our best but Alex is repeatedly hitting his head now he's on his feet . I guess it's a stage they all go through . . . .

Hi to everyone else x

spongebrainmaternitypants · 03/04/2009 10:33

Oh meant to say, SA, good luck with the estate agents - we are also debating moving but are thinking of looking at an extension instead.

whinegums, haven't heard from HH but BDQ is busy studying x

Rolf · 03/04/2009 11:01

We have a slate floor in the kitchen and Thea has banged herself quite a few times. She's all over the place though so I'm just trying to keep an eye on her.

Mellymell that's real footballer's wife territory isn't it! There are big (8 bed) houses round here that are loads cheaper than they were a year ago - some for about £500k. I'm wondering if DH can earn that very quickly so we can snap one up without having to finish doing up our own house (the answer is no chance, btw!).

Essie DH's knowledge of Catholicism is pretty out of date (pre Lateran IV ).

parofleurmapu · 03/04/2009 11:18

Yes Moyles has that effect on Dp too sponge! I find his banter good wakr up noise at 7am!!

Thanks for reassurance re bumps seems we will just have to keep eye out but its a scary part of learning that they we go through!!!

Seems lots of us will be moving we are investigating areas too and it seems Tilburg has its far share of footballers houses!!

neenztwinz · 03/04/2009 14:30

We have those foam squares too on our slate kitchen floor but Theo loves to pull them up and chew on them . Why can't they just play with their toys?!

Well E was fine last night, I BF'd her and she wasn't sick and wasn't sick in the night and even slept till 5am. Even at 5 she wasn't really crying but I fed her anyway cos she had hardly eaten yesterday, then they both slept till 8am. Anyone else finding the babs are sleeping later since the clocks changed?

I have got a definite date to go back to work now - July 15. But me and DH were calculating how much I'll make and after tax, NI, childcare and fuel it is only £75 a month (for two days a week!), even taking into account my tax-free allowance, so it's absolutely not worth me working. DH has come round to the idea now so we have decided I will quit at the end of October (then I won't have to pay my mat pay back). Then when our youngest is about to start school I will look into re-training as a teacher. Till then I will be SAHM .

We are going to ask DH's second cousin (the student) to look after them until mid-September then ask DH's parents to have them one day a week for six or seven weeks and book them into nursery for the other day. PILs are looking after SIL's baby for seven weeks one day a week from May so surely they cannot turn us down? DH is spoiling for a fight if they do. I can understand why they don't want to commit to looking after their grandchildren but surely they can't do it short-term for their daughter and not for their son. We will see!

Mellymell, they are some fancy areas you are thinking of moving to! Very nice part of the country.

poppy34 · 03/04/2009 15:07

I've been off for one day and seems this thread has got x rated with all the sex and drugs talk ( I blame rolf sponge and deb wink]). neenz sounds like you've got a plan re going back (even if only til october).

essie I'll get my thinking cap on re where to stay - I might be biassed but I really like where we are (am typing from flat as we speak) as very kid friendly and loads of parks , cafes etc but still easy to get about. am assuming you want a nice mix of cultural things and baby friendly things.

Do you have a sling for iestyn? its not that pushchairs aren't feasible (its prob easier than london for that) but if you want to go on the metro its a bit of a faff (not impossible but just easier with a sling).

Edie been very unsettled -as has had a cold and didn't sleep very well so is being very fractious today (that said she was remarkably cheery round the shops [ewink])
