mellymel I grew up in Wilmslow, am heading there on Sunday to see my parents! let me know if you want the gen on schools etc, I went to the local state school and my Mum recently retired from primary teaching in the area so I can fill you in if it's helpful. It's a lovely area to grow up in, and I turned out OK! (we don't have an aston martin though...)

whinegums BDQ is studying she posted on FB

viva puts her fingers in her ears and sings to herself during the rude discussions

Amberc · 03/04/2009 16:44

Neenz you made me laugh with the Foam tiles thing - Luke hasn't realise he can chew on them thankfully! Glad all the sickness has cleared up.

Hello everyone else - not got time to post properly but have got a night out with the girls tonight hurrah! Probably will be home by 11 though pissed up

josey · 03/04/2009 19:10

Hello
Very guilty of being super busy and havent been near MN in weeks sorry!

Thank you all for thinking of us and DH, I have been sobing on and off manically, being involved in the off-shore industry is like the unsung family IYKWIM. One of the men was from our village, he leaves behind 4 children the youngest 18months. He unfortunately is still missing A friend of a friends brother was also on the flight they have told us that they cant identify the bodies, its so distressing what they must have gone through. The mayday call has also been released as "Mayday mayday, OH F...."

My poor DH is still stuck off shore and I feel sick at the thought of him boarding a helicopter. Im on the BOND flight path as you will know AH the sky is busy with choppers but our skys have been very quiet. Thankfully DH flys with a different company.

Well the news here is, Olivia is being put forward for a day centre, its like a Nursery for SN children in this area they will recieve all there therapy there instead on me having the appointments etc. She will go 2 days a week on a BUS!!! How am I going to cope with my little baby being put on a bus with her pack lunch box????? Dont get me wrong Im delighted she is getting this opertunity and it will be fab BUT A BUS OMG!yes im a sap!

She has started making a few cooing noises now, maybe she will manage to communicate one day

Anyway love to you all. must find some more time

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/04/2009 20:01

josey sorry to hear of your ties with those who died.

On a happier note I love the idea of Olivia on a bus, she will be so grown up. There is a bus that trundles round here picking up children for our local SN school and they all look happy with their helpers if that is any consolation. Are you pleased she is going. It will give you a break if that is not too crass a to say.

spongebrainmaternitypants · 03/04/2009 20:21

josey, I'm so sorry to hear about those who have died - it makes it so much more real when you hear about the families left behind .

Fab news about Olivia .

pureeandpearls · 03/04/2009 20:54

Josey- I can't imagine how tough it must be for you and AH at the moment, but what great news about Josey!!

Sorry - had to get that out of my system!

OP posts:
neenztwinz · 03/04/2009 21:32

Oh Josey, what sad stories about those families . Great news about Oli though. She will be fine on the bus! Yes, how lovely that she might one day communicate with you - she has exceeded all expectations so far hasn't she so you never know.

Poppy, are you in Paris or have I read that totally wrong?

How you feeling Puree? Nice to see you back.

Sorry to keep going on about work, but I have just looked into childcare vouchers and they are worth more than I thought - I will save £75 a month in tax/NI so I will actually be left with £155 not £80 . Wowser.

Ironically, if I only worked one day a week I would actually be £25 a month better off, because on the second day all my wages will be eaten up by tax, ni and childcare which means it will actually cost me money (£25 a month in fuel) to go to work!

So I am going to give it till end of Sept and then tell them I either go down to one day a week or resign. No one could be expected to work two days a week for £155 when they'd get £180 for one day a week!

DebInAustria · 03/04/2009 21:49

Puree looks like you're feeling better

Josey - so sorry to hear about the man missing from your village, and what fantastic news about Olivia. She does seem young to be off on the bus but what an opportunity for her and also for you.

Neenz - I remember warning you all that they would chew those foam tiles Great news about work.

Poppy - in your opinion what's the best time of year for a visit to Paris? NIgel is taking me when Ethan isn't quite so boob dependent, but we won't want baby/child friendly - it will be just us! Boys will go to their Aunty.

Hello to everyone else

Party is over - great success, boys ended up outside and very muddy!, house is nearly ready for the viewing tomorrow - some intensive tidying up was needed. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to keep it to this standard for the next viewing?I won't though and it will be the same panic next time!

Ridiculously warm temperatures here, 16 degrees today, gorgeous on the balcony, but we've got our last guests of the season arriving for skiing tomorrow, hope the snow doesn't get too slushy. What's the weather like in the UK?

josey · 03/04/2009 21:54

Thanks guys!
Fivegomad your right it is very good and much needed restbite for me. I think if she was pre-school going off on the bus I could cope but as this is likely to begin as early as this month, I just cant get my head round my little very needy baby "ON A BUS"(its also not the local school but the centre of Aberdeen) lol
I do want her to go I think it will be wonderful for her and she will benefit so much, she will have physio, OT, speech, swimming, use of therapy rooms etc more than I could ask for at this age. I will find it hard to let go, because Im the one that currently does all her therapy, with people coming to the house, but they also teach me.
Hohum will see how it pans out.

Neeze the fact she is making other noise other than just crying is a huge step of her interaction and communication Im so delighted there is some noise there

PP lol at getting the bunnies out your system

abdnhiker · 04/04/2009 09:30

josey my DH isn't with Bond either - which feels like a relief. Sorry that J is still offshore - the only reason my DH wasn't is because my parents are visiting. The front page of the paper had me in tears yesterday too. (Photos of the men killed with 'Dad' written under some of them).

systems and deb good luck with the house viewings (and amber too - you've got your flat on the market don't you?)

neenz we've done the calculations for childcare too - because of the vouchers and DS1's nursery money from the government, I will only make £80 less a month to work 3 days a week instead of full-time. It was part of my arguement when I applied for full-time work. Makes me feel sort of like a failure though that I'm paid so little.

poppy34 · 04/04/2009 11:00

yep neenz I'm in paris. and for deb its about 18 here, I've got windows open to let breeze in as too stuffy if not and going to take edie for a walk when she wakes from her nap (then we're walking to the shops later while dh goes to rugby [egrin]).

deb I think about now (through til June) is lovely (there is a reason why there is a song called April in Paris ). The weather is usually nice enough to sit out and you can make the most of fact that you can walk so easily in Paris. if not then, I'd go for late September/early October. sounds like the boys had a great time at the party

puree are you by any chance getting geared up for a creme egg bonanza next week?

sending positive vibes to all those that have house viewings today.

Edie bit better today but we're waiting to hear bit more re MIL (she went into hospital on thurdsay for op to look at state of her heart and had a minor result as a result) -they're doing CAT scan tests today etc. Although not unexpected (she is over 80 and been struggling with her health), its still sad as she is trying so hard to pretend she is not confused about stuff (eg kept calling dh by his brothers name). For that reason essie can I let you know tomorrow when/if I can meet up as not sure what plans are for seeing her this week.

poppy34 · 04/04/2009 11:01

and joseythat is such great news re olivia's place at the centre - sounds like it will be great for her.

neenztwinz · 04/04/2009 14:19

Oh, I must have missed that re Paris Poppy, are you visiting or do you and DH have a place there? Sorry about your MIL, it sounds similar to when my gran was in hospital, getting confused etc and having small strokes and not being able to even have the thing she went in to have cos she was just not well enough. Hope she pulls through OK.

Abdn, so are you going to work three days then or full-time? Don't feel like a failure, the most important jobs in the world are sometimes some of the lowest paid eg journalism ... I mean nurses, carers, teachers, social workers etc. And mothers of course!

Deb I missed your warning about the foam mats . E doesn't bother with them but for T they are his favourite toy! I wouldn't mind but they are not very clean now they have been walked all over and of course he always goes for the dirtiest ones.

The weather is just so gorgeous, we pick up our trailer tent in two weeks and DH is off for a week so if it stays like this we are going away.

Essie, yes I thought you meant British Library, but I thought no, surely no one would choose to go there for fun - what were you going to do there? Did you get the nanny in the end?

DebInAustria · 04/04/2009 18:01

Viewing's done and I have a lovely tidy house, My Dad said send me a photo - I replied too late they've been gone half an hour! Doesn't take long to get messed up again. No idea how viewing went, he didn't say much.

Stefan's in bed asleep after refusing chocolate ice cream - most unlike him, hope he's not ill for his week's Easter holiday. He hasn't slept in the day for about 5 years!

Poppy - hope your MIL is OK , and thanks for the Paris tips.

Amberc · 04/04/2009 19:38

Hi all. Josey your SN school sounds wonderful - couldn't you go with her? Even just for the first few times? I also think that mixing with the other children will be beneficial to her development too.

It is AWFUL about the helipcopter crash - hasn't there just recently been another one?

Isn't the weather lovely today - I was sitting out on the lawn at Greenwich University. It was lovely although Luke had his first experience with grass under his naked feet (yes I know but I live in a flat and it's not been warm enough for bare feet yet!). He didn't like it and started crying immediately. He's not been himself today though - teething like a good'un. One ear was really red. I took his temp in one ear and it was 37.6 and the other ear was 38.7 .

Anyone got any good ideas of somewhere nice for us to go for the Easter weekend? Needs to be not too long a drive from London and with good childcare facilities (i.e. maybe a creche and/or babysitting service so Mark and I can go and have dinner together one night). Maybe a spa too - ooh am getting excited at the thought!

Poppy - Paris sounds divine darling!

Deb glad the viewing went well. We don't know if ours did as the stupid estate agent didn't give us any feedback!

josey · 04/04/2009 21:29

Dont think I can go, aparently I will get a daily diary, and I think if she goes then she will have a a full week where she will have loads of assessments for a programme. Then they will meet with me and everyone involved with her to discuss, then this will take place monthly.

There was an ambulance across the road from me tonight, the lady just had a baby a few weeks early last week,he was obviously well enough to get home, hope they are both ok, there has been enough tragedy here lately.

Just wanted to brag the I have managed to get my online shop going hehe

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/04/2009 21:49

Well done on the online shop. I love doing it with a glass of wine.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/04/2009 21:51

Can I also just say that my mother used to be chair of the governors at our local SN school which is in Weymouth and I went in a few times although they started at 4, and what an amazing place it was and is, and the staff are fantastic and all the children were very happy and loved and looked after.

Amberc · 05/04/2009 07:08

What's your online shop Josey?

parofleurmapu · 05/04/2009 18:57

Hello????????

Paro watches tumbleweed fly past

Where is everybody today?

spongebrainmaternitypants · 05/04/2009 19:42

Hi paro, the weather has been gorgeous here today so I expect everyone has been out enjoying it!

Hope you're feeling better x

DebInAustria · 05/04/2009 21:22

helloooooo, lovely weather here too, still got a poorly Stefan, high temperature and really tired, don't know what's up with him.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 05/04/2009 21:24

Weather great here too but have been sorting out stuff for EBay, DD had such an obscene amount of clothes so hopefully should raise some money.

Deb have you had any feed back yet?

Rolf · 05/04/2009 22:04

Deb are the other boys ok? Hope he feels better soon.

DS2 woke me up at 6am this morning saying he didn't feel well. He had a quiet morning so I took him, DD1 and DD2 to Mass and he and DD1 fell asleep on kneelers, poor little things. Then as we were leaving DS2 vomited spectacularly in the church porch. When he gets any sort of low-grade virus, he ends up vomiting. He feels awful, poor boy. DD1 has spent most of the day asleep and feverish as well. DH is horribly busy and stressed about work at the moment so I'm on my own with them. Hope tomorrow is sunny so at least DS1 can play outside if I'm confined to the house with the others.

DebInAustria · 06/04/2009 06:54

Five - no feedback as yet, will get in touch with the agent today.

Rolf - he seems a bit brighter today - certainly back to normal volume so he's definitely on the mend! Hope your ds2 and dd1 are better today poor things, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that the sun shines.
