Correction. My son is not 6 mths old. He is 5 mths old. You guys do know what I do for a living, don't you? Shame I can't count. How embarrasing

ellielou02 · 16/03/2009 09:44

Morning all,
coolkat is £10 ok I just they are not here yet I paid 15 for them yesterday before I realised highchair past it, just let me know They are light blue!
choco do you mean you bought 6 more ittis? I am a total novice of the cloth nappies but quite excited and have been on the other thread to get some advice I take it its a bit of trial and error! Where do you get the extra inserts?
I think I am going to look into BLW a bit more M has been on purees for about 2 weeks now but she only seems to need I meal at tea time is it too late for me to think about BLW? I was trying to hold off but this seems to satisfy her she has not dropped her milk at all still takes 5 x 7oz of hungry baby?

ellielou02 · 16/03/2009 09:45

LOL at obs couting just had a look at your job

LadyBuzz · 16/03/2009 10:05

Coolkat sounds alot like Jay at the moment. I took him to the docs and they have said his chest is clear and it is just a snuffly cold. Can't hurt to check if you are worried.

LOL at Obs

Daisy how are you feeling?

Vbab hope DS is better soon.

I am enjoying a peaceful half hour, DS1 at Nursery and Jay is fast asleep in his pram.

londonboots · 16/03/2009 10:44

obs no wonder you were shocked!!

sausage if it makes you feel any better, M (bf) has never slept through (by which i mean 7pm to 7am). In fact, the last few weeks (about 15 weeks to 18 weeks) have been really bad - at least 3 but usually 4 or 5 wakings per night - like being a newborn again! although on the bright side, he feeds for about 10-15 minutes and goes straight back to sleep and occasionally just wants a cuddle (we've tried leaving him when we think it's just a cuddle but it's hard to tell and that's another post...) however, last night we had only 1 waking at 1.30am and then up for the day at 6.30 which was a first! yay! unfortunately DP also woke me up when he started patting me about midnight - I asked him what he was doing and he said 'i thought you were a baby and i was trying to soothe you' of course he has no recollection of this today!

ChocOrange05 · 16/03/2009 10:46

ellie I have 6 ittis in total - the all in one snapper's, and I bought 6 extra booster pads from here. They are £5.75 each and means you can reuse the outer part twice (unless its pooey!)

morning. house of tantrums here this morning. DS when he got rumbled watching jetix before school when he was expressly told not to, bumble when we put him in the bath, bumble when we took him out of the bath, bumble when we dressed him, DD when we took her out of the bath, tried to dress her, tried to take bumbles dummy fronm her, wouldn't give her sweeties, gave her sweeties but not enough, shut the office door so daddy could make a phone call, opened the office door so she could get daddy......she driving me nuts.

coolkat, I'd get her checked out just to be on the safe side as babies can go downhill pretty quickly, especially where chests are concerned.

oh arse, I've just asked DD if she would like a chocolate sandwich....durrr!!

obs, bumble is 19 weeks now. I can't believe where the time has gone either. and lol at the horror of the first weeks that seemed never ending, now it seems to have gone in a blink...let's do the time warp again......it's just a jump to the left and then a step to the riiiight.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/03/2009 11:34

bumble is coughing and wheezy too and covered head to foot in a viral rash. will take him back to docs if it gets worse.

Dozymare · 16/03/2009 11:40

hello all.

I'm home and up but very weak. Apologies for not reading what has been going on, I hope I am not interuppting one of our good discussions with me post.

Anyway, felt under the weather Mon-Weds last week, but put it down to training quite hard at the gym and a long run Wednesday, started feeling a bit sore throaty Weds night and by Thursday morning I knew I had tonsillitis. (DH took day off, went to Dr who prescribed AB's) Nothing unusual there as I often get tonsillitits. Slept most of thursday and friday, then 5pm teatime couldn't breath properly. Immense pain and so went straight to A+E who put something in my throat to aid breathing, and dripped me up. Bloods came back v.bad so then had to be transferred by ambulance to a London hospital where I then have had over 21 bags of IV antibiotics, 8 shots of anti inflamatories up the arsenal, plus numerous drips for dehydration. Was a shocker.

Also testing for Glandular fever but won't know results until tomorrow. Have to have my tonsils out ASAP (but I am pushing for June as I have my 10k run place confirmed in May and really want to do that) which infuriates me as have always suffered from Tonsillitits and they have always said no to taking them out. Seems you have to be in breathing difficulties before they consider that now days.

Anyway, begged to be let home, I like my creature comforts so got lots of "wacko Jacko" masks to wear around house, although am staying away from kids until they confirm NOT glandular fever.

Am incredibly weak, tired and my body has taken a real hammering. Plus, since friday I have GAINED 8lbs. This despite not eating a damn thing. Surely can't all be water retention.....Must be only person to go into hospital, not eat and put over half a stone on. Gutted about that, really I am.

Anyhow, just wanted to catch up, I will do my best to read, but obviously won't be posting at my usual rate.

Hugs to you all xxxxxxxxx

LackaDAISYcal · 16/03/2009 11:50

oh, dozy, you poor thing
i hope you are feeling better soon. do you need anything sending? books, puzzle books etc? you must be bored rigid. I hope you get the op sooner rather than later, and think you should forget about the run until you are well again.

if it's any consolation though, I've hardly eaten since last week, have raging squits and have still gained five pounds as well......i am blaming the gas used in my op, but DH keeps pointing out that it probably weighs nothing. I am in denial about that!

Dozymare · 16/03/2009 11:55

It's crazy Daisy (I like that!) I have literally eaten 1 yog since Thursday....surely all those drips/salines must have tons of sugar, it can't all be water/gas (I am gassy as well!)

ellielou02 · 16/03/2009 12:45

Glad you are home dozy hope you feel stronger soon hugs to you.

chocolategal · 16/03/2009 13:27

Sending lots of get well wishes dozy i have had glandular fever and it does sound a little bit like that (sorry)
Heres hoping you are fighting fit again very soon x

coolkat · 16/03/2009 15:16

Oh Dozy, sorry to hear how horrible you have had it. I think I told you before that I had my tonsils out 3 years a go. I used to suffer like you and they tested me for Glandular fever but thank god it was Neg. Look after yourself. X

Ellie I spoke to DH about the straps and he harped on about not needing them and me saying the other day I was getting rid of the highchair for a smaller booster seat, so sadly he wins that argument! Thank you for offering them though. X
I am looking at getting rid of it in a month or so and just having one of them boosters that daisy linked to as it is so big!!

Becca been a little better today so I am hoping for a better night, been for two long walks in the sunshine but now I ache like a 90 year old.

cricri · 16/03/2009 16:24

Dozy So sorry you've had such a rotten time, it sounds horrendous. Fingers crossed it's not glandular fever. Rest up and get your strength back - no gym or running for you for a while at least. Take care x
Sorry to hear about poorly and unsettled babies. E is teething again today after a few quiet days so is like a rabid dog and wants to chew everything in sight. I wish this tooth would hurry up and come through (although perhaps not as I'm bf )
We went into town to meet my mum for lunch and it was lovely walking through the park in the sunshine. Spring is definitely here

Rosa · 16/03/2009 16:57

Positive vibes for a seedy recovery Dozy and I am sure that the weight will drop off again soon.
Hope Bumble is feeling better and LOL at you offering your dd a chocolate sandwich . DD1 tries for one daily since we had a small carton of nutella in the house.... I refuse to buy it as it would not kast long in this house.
Spring is here as well and I feel really light headed very strange. Also a bit dizzy !
Still not managed to squeeze any poo from minirosas nappy as it is absorbed to fast. I put a layer of clingfilm and then paper to try and catch it and she went and weed and it all came out over me . Am going to try for the night nappy or the 1st in the morning as they are normally a bit thicker !

when DD was poorly laast year, the hospital had these sticky ended bag things that they stuck over her bits so that they could collect a urine sample.

just googled....it was one of these. Can you ask your paed if tthey have anything similar over there?

Maybe you could fashion something similar with a breast milk storage bag and some micropore tape??

Rosa · 16/03/2009 20:00

I have a wee bag and I think I might resort to that as I have had no joy - it is so runny it gets absorbed too fast - Also she does lots of little ones. I tried a warm bath and tummy massage tonight - and this is the first time she did not crap after her bath - Typical. She is fast asleep now and she will have a dream feed this evening as this often stimulates her .. DH will be at the ready to whip it off and see what we can get - we have the white duvet cover on again so it is bound to work as she will poo on that ( Rosa recalls the poo expolsion at 3 weeks took me 4 washes to get the stuff out !)

PinkyMinxy · 16/03/2009 20:24

hi All Dozy that sounds awful, you poor thing. Hope ou feel better soon.

lolat poo catching, Rosa, tis a long and unrewarding task!

Immi (who is actually now Mimi, courtesy of DD1) has been very unhappy today. Hot, very pooey and not happy bunny. SHe has had calpol, nelsons and has olbas oil as she is still snuffly too. No smiles today, poor love .She has a bit of a viral rash going on, too, so need to keep a check on that.

daisy you have my sympathy- that sounds like a stressful day.

love to all

PinkyMinxy · 16/03/2009 20:33

oblomov I thought I was losing it completely when yuo said Max was 6 months old! But 5 months still sounds mad to me! I can't belive it has gone so quickly.

barbareebaa · 16/03/2009 21:13

Evening

So sorry about you being unwell Dozy Hope it's not glandular fever. Take care x

Plah. may I just have a quick out pour... I have a lovely wee boy and I lost my temper tonight because he was crying so much with the tiredness and he's so lovely but I chucked a thing of E45 at the wall and caused a mess and it frightened him and I feel so bad. I frightened myself at how angry I got. I'm usually so calm. I can't understand what happened. Me and dh both got frustrated and we've both had a cry tell me it's normal. We have no-one here to ask and I don't want my mum worrying

W's got a rash on his tummy too altho I think it might be exzema - is it ok for him to have jabs with a rash (wednesdAY)?

Got an appointment re:tongue tie (finally) but should I still go as bf-ing is fine? maybethey would think I was wasting their time?

daisy sorry for your tantrummy day too, think you must have patience of a saint!!

barbareebaa · 16/03/2009 21:16

p.s on top of all that I feel so broody! tis completely nuts!! Crazy mother nature being all sneaky!

PinkyMinxy · 16/03/2009 21:22

barbs it's completely normal. Honestly,it is. WE have all ben there, don't worry!

barbareebaa · 16/03/2009 21:44

thanks pinxy just feel so sad that I scared him. Why is it so hard? We waited so long for this boy. Me and dh have to apologise to each other every evening for the days sniping - we are having to get used to this new element to our relationship. It used to be me and him against the world, now it feels like we are 2 seperate entities
