ChocOrange05 · 29/03/2009 11:21

Well M woke at 1.20am and was back in bed 15 mins later. He woke up at 7.30 (which was really 6.30 with the clocks) so now I am in a pickle - do I:

  1. continue with waking to feed at 10pm - we keep him up for 1 hour as this helps him sleep till 7am better OR
  2. let him wake whenever and feed him - potentially only a 15-20min feed but at 1/2/3am. (BTW he is in his own room so this means me going downstairs to his room to feed him)

I'm not sure which is best - WWYD?

Buzz sorry I was not your SS. Hope she reveals herself soon!

Good luck at your NCT sale today Daisy - I am off to the one in Tolworth (any local to Kingston ladies interested?) and hope to nab some bargains. DH is playing golf all afternoon so its just me and M fighting for all the good stuff!

Greetings hope the NCT sales go well sound like a superb idea. I am trying to get rid of some stuff but the only 2nd hand place give is credits for stuff not cash - thing is that there is not that much actual good stuff there toys are tired and clothes a bit iffy. I might have to try E bay and post when I come to the Uk.
DD still has a runny bum but we did go to the party yesterday as she seemed fine - Another child from here nursery threw up there and then poor thing .
I hate this hour change as we seemedto be getting into some form of routine will see for how long she sleeps now !

cricri · 29/03/2009 14:59

Hope you all grabbed bargains at NCT sales - our local one was yesterday but we'd arranged to go out for a walk with friends and their DDs at a local country estate. In the pouring rain It was nice between two showers I suppose... And they did give us all their weaning pots so that was very generous and saves us buying some. E slept in her buggy for over 2 hours too which was a result!
I was hoping with the clocks going forward that she would sleep a bit longer this morning (she's been waking at 7am all this week after weeks of waking between 7.45 and 8.45) but no such luck - 7.30am, which was the equivalent of 6.30am
I had a lovely time in London on Friday but my boobs were so sore by the time I got home! Fortunately E was starving hungry by then so she helped me out. A question for those of you who express - how are your LOs with defrosted EBM? E has rejected it a couple of times now, which is strange as I always freeze it on the day I express it after storing it in the fridge. It makes leaving her for more than one feed a bit difficult as I can't express enough for 2 feeds in one day.
Daisy Hope you feel better soon. I had a nasty cold a couple of weeks ago with a really bad throat and it took ages to go so hope it's not the same one. Lots of nasty bugs around atm.
Merry I'll put you out of your misery - I was your secret stork I'm impressed that you guessed it was me, I don't have a clue who mine was. But if she wants to out herself then please do - E's record book is lovely and I've started filling it in. Must add some photos to it too.
Meet-up A whole thread meet-up would be lovely. I can't believe we southern ladies still haven't managed to sort out a second meet-up! Perhaps we should just come and gate-crash the weekly coffee mornings Choc, Obs and Pink have
Emmanj Whereabouts in Essex are you? I'm in north-east Essex.
Ladybuzz Glad you had a lovely time with DH last night Once the velcro baby stage has passed DH and I are going to make time to go out just the two of us. Can't wait!
Love all the rhymes by the way! DH sings "Hokey cokey" to E, along with "I'm forever blowing bubbles" He's a West Ham fan and is trying to subliminally (sp?) influence her. I sing the French nursery rhymes to her, as does my Mum, but we tend to stick to the usual words. Must try to be more creative!
Hope everybody is having a good Sunday!

LackaDAISYcal · 29/03/2009 16:42

woohoo...got a swing for DD and bumble (although it can go up to 10 years) for £8. I saw it at the same time as someone else and we both had a hand on it. She suggested tossing a coin, which one of the NCT helpers did...and I won the toss . Felt a teeny bit guilty, but as it was the only thing I was actually after, the guilt didn't last too long. Funnily enough when we dropped our stuff off, DD was shouting ping ping and I had no idea what she had seen. When the box came out the car, she was screeching with excitement..."ping ping, emmy ping ping", so i guess I did the right thing!

Met jaunita with a big bag full of loot, but she had handily brought her mum to help carry everything, where I was trying to humph this big heavy box around and look for bargains. I had DS1 with me as he had spied some action man stuff, but he is a useless bag carrier; too whingey!! I saw that some of my stuff had been sold, but not the big pram which is the one thing that we are deperate to get rid of. DH has gone to collect all the unsold stuff just now, so we'll see.

Feeling a bit better today. Wound is looking better, although the skin around it has gone a funny colour and my throat is a little better....but I'm dosed up on paracetomol. I'm pretty sure the fever is to do with the cold ellie, but if it hasn't improved vastly tomorrow I'm going to tryt and get an appointment at the docs. DH has made really fearsomely garlicky humous so hopefully that'll help kill of some throat bugs.

Glad you had a good night out LB. DH and I need to do something like that to try and re-connect as we are more like flatmates who pass in the night than a couple at the minute.

Walk sounds nice Cricri...in spite of the rain.

I hope your night wasn't too uncomfortable emmanj

Emmanj · 29/03/2009 17:07

Well dome you for winnign the toss, i would have felt exactly the same daisy but pleased u got some bargains! Glad ur feeling a bit better.

Could u not put the pram on e bay - they usuallys ell well, esp if it BNIP as you said. we bought our apple I Candy pram off e bay 2nd hand, and you wouldnt even have known, for £230. might be worth a try?

Yes, noghts out sound great, also feel like 'ships that pass int he night' with DH at the moment i have to say.
The parents in law have just gone, it wasn ttoo bad and nice for them to see DD, however MIL has annoying habit of trying to clean my house (which i knwo i should b grateful for ) but it winds me up! came down this morning to find her cleaning out my kitchen cupbaords, went to the shop and came back to find her hoovering behind my sofas!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

cricri - not sure about frozen EBM, sorry? but i do know DD is going through a v fussy stage with all bottles at the mo so i sympathise! Days out in London and country park sound fab, nice to get out even it is crap weather!

Right, off to the gym now (im sooo not committed, and cant be bothered but i pay monthly and feel like im wasting my money if i dont go!, and esp since maternity pay is making things tight to say the least!)

x

ChocOrange05 · 29/03/2009 17:21

As requested, I shall out myself as Cricri's SS - I searched high and low for a keepsake so I'm glad you liked the book .

LackaDAISYcal · 29/03/2009 17:27

cricri...missed your Q about the defrosted ebm. Does it separate really badly once defrosted? If so it could be due to excessive lipase which makes it taste a bit odd to the baby. Mine is like this at times, but not at others and bumble definately rejects it. It can be cured by scalding the milk before freezing. more information here

LackaDAISYcal · 29/03/2009 17:31

I did have the pram on ebay before....and had five people watching it with an hour to the end of the auction....then someone bought it on the BIN price, then f***ed off and never paid for it and never responded to the emails etc from ebay about it.

Dozymare · 29/03/2009 20:25

Hello everyone, hope you all had a lovely weekend. Our was filled with non stop parties, albeit the 5 year old kind

Tiger been a superstar today, totally got into the swing of the 1hour time difference routine and everything remained the same! She is now sitting in her Trip Trap at the table although showing not the slightest interest in food yet! She is 5 months, and 4lbs lighter than DS1 and 3lbs lighter than DS2 who at this age, were on 3 meals a day! She had a bit of potato but was not impressed!!! Still, was lovely to have the while family around the table rather than her in her bumbo!!

lacks what was your final tally at the sale???? I did an NCT sale once but after them taking their 3rd found it was more profitable to ebay....although I have started selling some stuff on MN (well 3 things, but it's a start) Trouble is, I am now also buying on MN so not in profit! Story of my life!!!!!!!!!!

juanitad what was your booty??!

I am jsut waiting for my weekly perve fix of Sawyer on lost, not long to go now and think it is going to be a good 'un!

ladybuzz I was your SS!!!!! Now, go on then...who was mine??!! Still think pinky, am I right??

(also still can't believe we are outing each other!)

Have a good week everyone!¬

ChocOrange05 · 29/03/2009 20:34

Personally I can't believe it took this long to out each other - we did well to last till now!

LackaDAISYcal · 29/03/2009 20:38

We sold about £160 worth of stuff dozy. I asked on a thread on here about selling stuff and was told that bedding always sells well, so I completely pared down my cot/crib/pram bedding drawer and it all went!

the thing that has sold it for me was the fact that it was so easy. I had half a day spent labelling stuff, then just dropped it off and picked up what was left after the sale. None of the taking photos, spending hours doing listings (and it would have taken me days and days to list it all on ebay), packing it, posting it etc etc that ebay involves. So although we lost a third of it to the NCT, I think it was worth it for the time and effort it has spared me.

Scarily though, it's only the tip of the iceberg of baby crap in this house.

bumble has been in his highchair for a few days as well and although we have tried him with some food (ie soft cooked carrot and mash) he sucked on the carrot a bit and then just dropped it. It's nice having him at the table, although he does get a bit fed up before the end of the meal.

Ceebee74 · 29/03/2009 20:39

Dozy lol - just read your post and, at first, thought you meant that Tiger was sat in her Tripp Trapp right now - I was thinking to myself that staying up until 8.30 wasn't very GF

The hour difference doesn't seem to have affected Sam either - but I did make sure we were up at 7 (which was actually 6am which is a bit of a killer on a Sunday) this morning to make sure the boys' routine was kept the same today. On days like today, I am glad we have a routine for the DC as it means we can keep the day the same and they don't realise that anything has changed - although DS1 was not keen on going to bed tonight as it was light - he told me that I had not turned the light off properly .

LackaDAISYcal · 29/03/2009 20:45

ceebee, we have had the annual "I can't sleep, it's toooooo light" whinge from DS1 this evening.

Anyone know where I can get those velcro blackout blinds that cover the entire window?

I thought Dozy meant now as well but didn't register!

Took my CLBB to the NCT sale today, and asked for it to be donated if unsold .......will never know if it did sell or not though!!

Dozymare · 29/03/2009 20:45

cebee love DS1 quote of not turning the light off properly! very sweet! Are you ready for our weekly perve of Sawyer I am hoping that he is all down and diiirrrttttyyyy tonight !

daisy that's not bad for a days work eh! I have so much that needs to go, I found 2 Boden skirts in my wardrobe, never worn but luckily sold on here, plus a MB carrycot (never used). Am really going to get it together as am sure could make enough for DH and I to go away for the weekend! (that is my plan anyway!)

my cousin has just had a baby - I am broody............BUT don't htink we will go for another.....

cricri · 29/03/2009 20:49

Choc I did wonder if you were my SS after reading something you posted recently The book really is lovely and I've kept the little card you sent too of course and will be telling E exactly where it came from. Thanks once again!
Daisy Thanks for that link - I'll try scalding one or two batches of milk and see if it makes any difference. Glad you won the toss and got the swing at the NCT sale! Can't wait to hear what Juanitad came home with!
Dozy E has been sitting at the dinner table with us just now (so non-GF around here!) and was eyeing up the food. DH put some potato in front of her but she just looked at it quizzically! Perhaps not quite ready for BLW then.
Am I the only one going to be watching the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency tonight then?? I love the books and I think they've done a wonderful job with the TV series.
Have a good night all!

LackaDAISYcal · 29/03/2009 20:51

dozy...step away from the baby .

tis just hormones and newborn baby loveliness...remember the sleepless nights, the sweating, the pain and discomfort of being heavily pregnant, the chronic fatigue and sore nips of the early days.......

I might try selling some stuff on here forst and then if it doesn't go, I'll ebay it as a last resort.

If nothing else, it gives me a genuine excuse for sitting in front of MN for a few hours

MonkeyMargot · 29/03/2009 20:52

Oh ChocO - your "dream feed" dilemma is what I was pondering a while back.
All I would say is that in our case, not giving her the Dream feed has meant her middle of night feed has got later and later, and indeed she has even done 2 x 12-hour sleep throughs this week. I think it's a more natural way of them getting to the 12-hour sleep point. Otherwise, you will never know when to drop the dreamfeed, IYSWIM? But that's me. I don't mind doing one night feed, but our nursery is on the same floor so no stairs!

LadyB glad you had tipsy fun day out!

Clock change - made no difference here. She woke at 7am (so really 6am - pretty normal).
I was worried when I put her down tonight that it seemed much lighter, plus our next door neighbour was using the opportunity of extra light to do some very noisy banging of nails into a fence. However, Plum sleeps on.

criCri glad you had lovely day.

We went to watch boat race today - was fun! We also put Plum in the grown-up "Buggy" of the Bugaboo, rather than the bassinet, for first time. She likes! Can be nosy as she wants now!

Right - must concentrate on Antique's roadshow. Laters all!

LackaDAISYcal · 29/03/2009 20:57

We'll be watching it cricri as DH is a big fan. I never really got on with the books; I have real issues with men writing as women, but that said, I really like his Sunday Philosphy Club books. Maybe it's the Edinburgh connection there though that piques my interest.

Anyone up for restarting the book club or starting again now we have time to read!! I have two books here, Pinky's and another one called Young Wives Tales. I must send them back to their rightful owners!

MonkeyMargot · 29/03/2009 20:59

Lacks I'm up for book club.

Dozymare · 29/03/2009 20:59

Oh yes, Book club resuming is a great idea!!! Should we just start again????

LackaDAISYcal · 29/03/2009 21:07

I agree with monkeyM. We had the same thing with DD. If I fed her at 11ish she woulds wake at 1ish. We forgot one night and she slept till 3 and then this just got later and later.

Unfortunately bumble is still waking at 11ish and definately hungry....and 1ish and 3ish and 5ish

ChocOrange05 · 29/03/2009 21:20

daisy velcro blinds for you

OP posts:
barbareebaa · 29/03/2009 21:25

good evening!
I'm glad you're feeling a bit better daisy and that you made some cash at the nct sale!

dozy i too am broody and tried to sell the idea to dh by suggesting if we had another one soon it would mean I would be going back to work sooner (am going to be a sahm as I would not earn enough to pay for childcare) Anyhoo I don't think he bought it

Isn't it funny how you forgot how awful (well I thought so) labour is? I was seriously in 2 minds about doing it again - the mw who delivered W was like 'Ah, sure, we'll be seeing you next year Mrs V' and I was like 'you most certainly will not!!' but now I'm definitely up for it but do not ever want to be induced again and will avoid at all costs if poss.

ooh. Tangent - I went off on one!

LB Huzah for your lovely date! We need a date for sure!

Quiet day here, got nowt done despite dh being at home - get less done when he is here Will has 3 tiny teeth poking out and his last top front one looks like it won't be far off. This is good - get it all over in one do! Well for the time being anyway!

LackaDAISYcal · 29/03/2009 21:25

thanks choco...that's the place I was looking for

Honeymoonmummy · 29/03/2009 21:33

Hello all! I have been on your thread before, waaay back when I was PG, I was due in Oct but had my DD on November 5 so I thought I'd say hi! [tentative wave emoticon] Most of the Oct ladies are weaning and I'm feeling left out

Barbereebaa, you sound just like me re induction, I had a horrible labour and am already thinking about no. 2!
