Well done on the jeans ceebee hopefully Sam is back to normal soon.
pinky just wanted to say that your profile pic on FB is just gorgeous.

We are just away to baby massage, think DS is going to be grumpy though as we have been up since 5!

PinkyMinxy · 19/03/2009 11:23

Thanks CHoc . It was quite a big thing for me to do that.

PinkyMinxy · 19/03/2009 12:14

Ceebee well done on the jeans, and hope Sam is ok after his jabs.

Mimi is still spotty but a lot better in herself.

Rosa · 19/03/2009 13:20

Apparently it is a week for results as they are testing for some virus. Yesterday we had 2 green and 2 yellow and this morning one huge mustard explosion so am hoping its better.
Well done on the jeans - not a hope for me!
They wouldn't do minirosas jabs with her poo stuff she had no temp but they said no !!
Fathers day here and ddd1 said ' Daddy come and get your chocolates I did for you ' - She decorated a box for him - nothing like a surprise

chocolategal · 19/03/2009 14:14

Aww thats cute rosa, hope the poo situation is starting to get better.

Advice needed wise ladies, my DS is definately teething ( that almost sounds like i know what im talking about!?) let me rephrase that, i think he is definately teething
It has been going on for a little while, rosy cheeks, lack of appetite, lots of drool, sudden screams from being happy one minute, chewing fingers etc..

Today seems worse though he has screamed for an hour this morning, 20 mins of which i cried with him whilst cuddling him
I have given the teetha granules and bongela and various cold teethers, muslins,my fingers to chew on. He is now settled and sleeping.
At what point do you consider giving calpol and/or ibuprofen? If at all? Would either help for teething pain?

It is really heartbreaking seeing him so upset and i felt helpless

coolkat · 19/03/2009 14:26

Choc I have same question, I always wonder when to give calpol. Becca seems to be giving me a run for my money since we been home.

I admit to having tried baby rice today. Ifroze breast milk in ice cube trays the other week and did one ice cube with bit of rice powder. She really liked it. Was tempted to do her a bit more as it was such a small amount but didn't. Iwanted to see whether she would take from a spoon.

My reasons were that we have been having real bad nights. If was a growth spurt this would have passed. Its not.

Shopping was a total disaster. Me and Dh huge row. Still not speaking. All over fecking where to have coffee and lunch etc.
I love him to bits but this time I am so cross.

Well done on jeans ceebee, I did manage to get some Skinny ones today.

Sorry for me post feeling mighty fed up. x

Rosa · 19/03/2009 14:49

I tended to give calpol when I can see they are in pain - If you are sure its teeth then I would give some - I can remember when my wisdom teeth were coming through it hurt like bugg*ry. Minirosa is not there yet or at least I don't think so she has got some patches of rough red skin so am bunging on the E45 and hoping.
Cool cat sorry about your argument it always happens over something so simple..Well done aboutteh jeans I would look like lollipop / only very top heavy one...

chocolategal · 19/03/2009 15:29

So if i was to give some medicine, calpol is better than the ibuprofen stuff?
Just that when i have toothache i always take ibuprofen as it is an anti-inflammatory?

coolkat sorry your feeling so fed up, i think when you have had a run of bad nights everything just sees so much worse and harder to deal with.
I have really tried not to snap at DH this week as he is working really hard but i think between the hours of 11-7 he thinks DS is not his responsibility! Which i would normally deal with fine but we have had a few bad nights and very early starts to the day i am tired too!
Rant over as i know it could be a lot worse!

Ceebee74 · 19/03/2009 16:05

Coolkat glad the shopping went well I wouldn't worry about arguing with your DH - as Choc said, the interrupted nights etc would test even the best relationship!!

Btw, my jeans are lovely comfy boyfriend style ones - not a chance of any skinny jeans ever coming near my rather large bottom and thighs

Re Calpol - I would give it if you think they are teething and the granules haven't really made a difference. Not sure about the difference between Calpol and Ibuprofen - I have always used Calpol for DS1.

I have come to the conclusion that Sam is not ready for weaning just yet - he has had Calpol a couple of times these last few days and he has choked/gagged on beeing spoonfed like you would not believe No chance of getting anything down him even if I wanted to!!

juanitad · 19/03/2009 17:09

I've just left P for the first time with someone other than DH/mum and dad. Decided to go to the gym and put him in the creche there. Not sure why, but it didn't even occur to me that it was his first time being left with someone else, until they said to me "we'll call you out of the gym if he gets distressed". It was only then I realised he might not be too chuffed being left with strangers for an hour, oh dear, bad mother! Sure enough, after about 20 mins I was called out as he had got himself into a state, and it made me realise that for a baby, its mum really is its whole world. He calmed down enough for me to risk finishing my workout - and the creche staff said he was quite happy after that. I know now that I'm going to have to get him used to being looked after by people other than me, otherwise he could get an unpleasant surprise when I go back to work in September - if only I didn't have to!

LackaDAISYcal · 19/03/2009 19:32

poor P . I'm sure he'll be fine once you are back at work though. But maybe a good few settling in sessions might be in order so he gets used to your childminder?

bumble is happy to be left with anyone....not sure how that makes me feel, other than a bit redundant

jaunita, I was meant to text you this morning, but we had another really bad night and DH let me sleep in (bless him) till nearly ten oclock and I just forgot.

Re calpol etc.....with teething i try granules and bonjela as first line of defence and then calpol, but always give the lowest dose of calpol (2.5ml) as a first resort regardless of age.

Where temperature/fever is concerned, apparently ibuprofen is better at reducing a temp, but I always go for calpol first and if this doesn't help, then give ibuprofen. It's OK to do it like that according to the NICE guidelines, but they say not to give both at the same time these days (I was reading a thread about it the other day)

I was feeling a bit stir crazy today so got DH to drop DD and I off at Sainsbury's. We had lunch and then did a bit of shopping and were going to get the bus back. We had a lovely time just the two of us, but a rather unfortunate incident involving my dodgy innards and a long cardigan meant I had to get DH to come and collect us and PHSL at me like a bag lady with a carrier bag all tied up at the handles to try and contain the offending article. I failed to see the funny side of it at the time!

Ceebee74 · 19/03/2009 19:44

juanitad don't worry about P and when you go back to work - I am sure he will be fine. Before I went back to work after having DS1, I had only left him with 2 people (my sister and a friend), other than DH, for about 3 hours each time so he wasn't exactly used to it - he settled in nursery without any problem whatsoever.

Daisy lol at your 'incident' with the cardigan - glad you can laugh about it now though! I think I would have been mortified too! Other than that, your day with DD sounds lovely

Sam a little bit better - he has still not really eaten much today but has just had 6 oz before bed - not sure when to take him to the doctors as he seems ok in himself, apart from a bit more grumpy than usual (difficult to tell as that is ). He has got a bad cough so hopefully that is all it is.

LackaDAISYcal · 19/03/2009 22:22

oh dear, have I scared everyone off with my tale of woe?

AFingerofFudge · 19/03/2009 22:38

lacks I don't think you've scared anyone off!! It's just so quiet on here today. I braced myself for lots of catching up on what's been happening, but not much going on at all. Hope you're recovering from your incident!! Good job you didn't have to make your way home by bus!

M has been grumpy this evening, had his "pissed off" face on as me and DH call it (out of earshot of the other two DS's I hasten to add) He's 14 weeks now, is that too early for teething? Just that he has been drooling a lot and just a general grumpiness without anything else being majorly wrong. Mind you, I did forget to change his nappy for hours today . Poor thing, he was well weighed down!

PinkyMinxy · 19/03/2009 23:05

daisy sorry not ignoring you. Just in a bit of a strange place at the mo.
sorry about your incident, but sounds like you recovered it well and hope you and your soo sweet DD had a good time.

coolkat · 20/03/2009 12:38

Koo Eee, Where are you all?

Ou in the sunshine or clearing up snot and sick

Feeling much better today, even got washing on line. Me and DH made friends, he apologised and then blamed it on his lack of sleep He apparently does not know how I cope with such little sleep b e c a u s e we have to !

Daisy sorry about Sainsbo's incident. X Hope bumble feeling a bit better.

Pinky sorry your not in a good place right now. I know you have a lot on but I hope fresh air and sunshine will help brighten your day with you lo's today. I know when I am feeling shitty nicer weather makes me feel a little less shitty!!

So where is everyone, Vbab, Docs wife, Rutho, Pinkali, H2JM, Obs, Merry , Monkey. . . .

No more ramble from me, see I am talking to you all and no ones listening!!

juanitad · 20/03/2009 12:46

hi coolkat, i am here! You're right, it has been quiet on here for a couple of days..........must be because spring is here! I am loving the sunshine, so nice for P to see the outside world without being wrapped up in an enormous snowsuit. Not loving the light mornings though - just when I thought he'd cracked the night and day thnig, nature goes and confuses him!!

Rosa · 20/03/2009 13:49

SO much for spring Temps dropped by 10 degrees here overnight !!
I woudl love a pm in sainsbos with our without my dd...Maybe without teh cardigan incidentthough. How are bumbles spots ? Minirosa has a dry skin patch below her ear and lots of small spots round her neck round to her other ear . They vairy in redness. I tried E45 ( no joy) and aloe vera last night but they are still there. She is not dribbling that much . Also avoided collars and anything that could rub ...Boh no idea. If they don't go I will trot back ( again ) to the doc and see what he says.

Rosa · 20/03/2009 13:49

Blimey I really should spell check or at least re read the post before clicking ...Sorry ! ( am all excited my bee is here !!!)

ChocOrange05 · 20/03/2009 15:47

Rosa, Dozy recommended Waitrose Bottom Butter for M's dry skin on his face and it has made it super soft and smells lush! Its only £2.40 a pot so maybe worth a try? Its ingredients are Olive Oil, Camomile and Vanilla so its all natural stuff. HTH!

OP posts:
Rosa · 20/03/2009 16:03

ChocOrange05 · 20/03/2009 17:13

Rosa let me know how it goes with other stuff, otherwise I'd be happy to get you one and post it, it really is lovely!! Apparently a few years ago waitrose had low stock and people were buying it and then selling it for 15 quid a pot on eBay!!
