Evening all, finally had time to catch up, had a lovely sunday here. Jude is a lot better, but still has an awful cough which is keeping me awake at night, somehow he just sleeps through it. It seems like he has woken up from his newborn state this weekend, he's suddenly much more alert and smiley.

Had friends over for late lunch and ate delicious rack of lamb. Then had a bath with dd and ds which was really sweet, dd was washing him and showing him her tummy!

Even managed to go shopping this morning, am back to pre preg size again and am turning 30 next week so needed something nice to wear out. Couldn't find anything, but ended up getting a load of stuff for dd and ds in H&M. I really love thier kids stuff, first of all it's cheap and lasts well, but its also quite funky, not the endless pinks and blues of mothercare etc.

Ray- Hope Esme is ok. Its awful hearing them struggle for breath. The doc gave Jude saline drops for his blocked nose and they helped with his breathing. Steam and raised bed helps too. The crib is currently propped up on a pile of books and seems to be working..Hope she is better in the morning.

Haven't had any funny looks when breast feeding, I'm normally to busy trying t o contain my enormous boobs to notice!
DS is a guzzler too, normally downs a boob in ten! He's been feeding every 2 hours today...is 6/7 weeks another growth spurt time? He makes the cutest little mewing sound when he's finished, like a kitten trying to growl!

Moose- hope your nipple has recovered from its trauma! owie!

MissJ- love your pics of Nye on facebook. He's gorgeous and has a fab wardrobe to boot!

Agree with those who like their baths hot. I normally run a shallow tepid one, sit in it with dcs for 5 mins, hand them over to dp, kick them out the bathroom, fill up on hot and shut the door!

Right, I'm going up to bed to finally attempt to read yesterday's guardian without interuption.

EachPeachPearMum · 09/03/2009 03:35

Sympathy for all the lo's colds. We have one, but DS hasn't really got it so far (fingers crossed)

hkz- read the newspaper?

tinkislittlemissshopping · 09/03/2009 08:38

poor esme

hope she gets better soon

getting implant fitted @ 2:40am not looking forward 2 it

rrrayray · 09/03/2009 09:39

tink 2.40 AM???? Hope implant isn't painful (don't know much about it i'm afraid)

EPPM Esme took ages to get our too i'm afraid, but i don't think there is much you can do, as i was OTT with the antibac hand stuff, etc and she still got it!

Hkz shes a BIT better this morning, despite being horribly wheazy in the night, just had a roasting bath, filling the bathroom with steam, so let her kick on her mat while i bathed to enhale lot of steam! Great stuff, steam for her, lovely ssoak for me!

Moose Hopefully the antibodies will help her fight it off, i guess in the long run it will strengthen her immune system so some positivies.

missJ yes that was the worst part, her struggling to breathe and being helpless.

Its almost mothers day, Strange thought for us firt timers that we are actually Mummies on Mothers day!?!?

tinkislittlemissshopping · 09/03/2009 11:16

oops 2:40pm after lunch

EachPeachPearMum · 09/03/2009 11:42

treedelivery · 09/03/2009 14:50

Hi everyone. been to a christening weekend, night in a hotel with dd2, dd1 complete with the vomits and dh. Ho what fun!!

treedelivery · 09/03/2009 15:29

And off to 6 week check now. Where did the 6 weeks go?

Will catch up on thread I hope, but hope all the sicky babes are getting better? No vomits here for a while. Yay!

heron22 · 09/03/2009 16:42

i succumbed to hot spicy noodles last night and this morning LO did the most disgusting smelly explosive poo ever!!!

it is hard going without spicy foods...

i am completely out of touch with all the posts, just got no time to read them all!

hope ur all well, if a little sleepy.

LO will be 8 weeks tomorrow !

elkiedee · 09/03/2009 18:37

This one will be 5 weeks old tonight. Tomorrow I'm going to phone up and try to arrange our 6 week checks and registration of him with my/ds1's GP(me and him, that is).

tinkislittlemissshopping · 09/03/2009 18:41

wow 6 week check tree hope it goes well.
i have my implant it was fine just hv a tite bandaged arm now.

stripeywoollenhat · 09/03/2009 20:09

dd was seven weeks yesterday - weird the way time is flying by - but also it seems like she has always been here... i am going to organise her two month vaccinations next week!

glad the implant wasn't too bad, tink.

missjackson · 09/03/2009 21:23

Yey for swings! LO is fast asleep in it now... spent usual hour trying to put him down from 7-8pm, then gave up, put him in the swing downstairs, and BINGO, he was asleep within 5 minutes... leaving us free to eat dinner.

ray hope Esme is feeling better.

hkz hope you got to read your guardian! I've given up buying the weekend papers because I've got a stack dating back 3 weeks! Great to read while BF-ing though.

Nice day hanging out at the farm with DH - he took Nye off in the sling for tractor rides etc in between feedings, and even cleaned my car for me!

treedelivery · 09/03/2009 23:01

Hello people, 6 week check ok. No cure for the troubles to be had, and I'm continuing the treatment for ductal breast thrush. Boobs feel less on edge, so hoping it's working and that the diagnosis is right. Am one week into the course. Harriet seems extra extra windy and gripy which others have said can be an antibiotic side effect. It will be worth it [repeat 1000 times...]

Have chiropractor tomorrow for abdominal release for the little woman, so hoping that will get us over these recently worse windy troubles for another little while anyway.

Swing works occasionally here, if she is in a deep deep sleep going in. Flatly refuses at all other times. Wish us luck for the chiro - have high hopes! Have a good nights sleep all of you!

Hope Esme improved. Pukes have left my dd1 - yay!

chefswife · 10/03/2009 04:54

all the baby photos posted to the facebook group are fantastic.

rrayray i've never had any looks but once while sitting with my girlfriend at a coffee shop patio on a gorgeous summer day as we sipped our iced lattes and she fed her (at the time) 6 month old, an older broad at the table next to us made a comment directly to her about not being so indecent in public when you can bottle feed. my friend told her that perhaps she should concern herself with her own business, like the size of her ass. it was very funny and the woman was a little shocked. maybe next time just make an incredible crazy face.

i've been trying to get DD to sleep in her crib (remember, she'll sleep anywhere but there), so every time she fell asleep, i put her to bed, where she would wake about an hour later. yesterday i think she caught on and every time i moved to put her to bed, she would jolt awake. the last time i put her down was 10pm. DH got home shortly after and showered, we snuggled for a bit before i decided to go to bed, and it was if she heard. she woke up! DH got her and went to change her diaper. i crawled into bed and must have passed out in the time it took to change said diaper because DH came back in at 2am. i got 3 blissful hours to myself. i was in a semi-coma, but nonetheless, awesome. today is the exact same. exhausting, the constant entertaining and holding of DD but it is worth it... occasionally. i still want her to sleep in her crib. i love co-sleeping but i miss spreading out.

hmmm... had something else to say but can't remember... no surprise there. when does baby brain subside?

hey everyone, tree it is brilliant to see you back, you sound like you're bearing up really well considering how hard it must be.

We're all ok, bits of colds but nothing big. Rosie had her best night ever last night, went to bed at 10, woke at 4.30 and then at 7.30. ds slept til 7.15, usually he is a 6.30 boy. dh and I were awake at 7am (a half hour lie in, woohoo!) and having a cup of tea before the los woke up, a very strange and lovely feeling!

We FINALLY made a double buggy decision and after nearly getting the P&T sport, but then discovering that I couldn't walk without banging my shins against the back seat, we went for the Nipper 360. It seems great, light and, well, nippy! Should be with us in a week or so, can't wait, going out with them both at the moment is hard work.

I'm with whoever else 'hasn't quite got around to' bedroom activities. Started to feel a little more feisty though so maybe sometime in the next month it will happen... no idea yet what we'll do about contraception. Want something long term and no-brainy, I used to always forget my pill. SO I guess it is copper coil, mirena coil or implant? Anyone doing the mirena??

Spink · 10/03/2009 10:16

books you ARE doing brilliantly, and it will get easier, so hang in there lady. my ds has just turned two as well and tantruming like a pro too. I do everything I can to avoid being on my own with both of them at dinner/bathtime madness hour. And going out with them both actually scares me. I guess there is no getting round it, a toddler in the terrible two stage and a newborn isn't a very easy combination..

moosemama · 10/03/2009 12:00

Oh Books you poor thing. I remember it well from DS1 and DS2 (there's 2 years 8 days between them). It does get easier I promise.

As for the only just keeping a lid on it there are quite a few of us feeling like that at the moment. Its probably to be expected really while we are all getting to grips with the extra demands on our time etc as well as the physical demands of breastfeeding whilst struggling with sleep deprivation. But if you do start to feel that you have hit that downward spiral and are struggling to come back up please contact your GP or HV sooner rather than later, there's no point in struggling on when you could get some help and start to feel better quicker.

I have finally succumbed to the dreaded cold and its a humdinger so am having a sofa day (at least until I have to pick the boys up from school). Its pouring down outside today anyway.

tinkislittlemissshopping · 10/03/2009 12:02

glad 6 wk check went well tree
books i am sure that things will get better.

hkz · 10/03/2009 12:03

Spink and Books- I feel your pain! DD is 2 next month and there have been a number of meltdown situations of late. DD is a stubborn little girl to put it lightly...when there are two of them screaming in stereo I seem to zone out to a different place where it is calm and quiet and children under two aren't allowed! I am managing to get them both to playgroup,(Playgroup is on the end f our street) but when DD is in full tantrum swing it is a nightmare. Doing anything more taking than a strip to the playground fills me with horror... wouldn't even dream of tackling a supermarket with 2 of them at the mo. I find the more I do attempt to do stuff with the two of them by myself the better it is getting though. I have taken to reading Toddler Taming while i am BFing at 2 in the morning!

The double buggy thing is a PITA aswell. Initially I bought a buggy board, but it doesn't fit on our maclaren. Go a P&T off ebay, which is ok, I just find it a bit heavy and not great for buses and folding up in the car and its a bloody nightmare getting it down the steps to our basement flat especially when it is full of children! Thinking about flogging it on ebay again and trying something else.

Tree- Hope chiropractor goes well and does the trick.

Hope all those babies with snuffles are getting better too!

Had a horrendous night's sleep. Thought DS had settled into a routine of waking for a feed around 2.30/3 then again at about 6.30/7. But last night he wouldn't go down in his crib. Then woke at 2 for a feed and didn't go back to sleep until 4.30, then woke at 6 again. He seems super hungry at the moment too, nit sure my supply is keeping up as when I expressed today I only got 1oz (normally get 4/5).

Right, need to get the poor neglected dog out for a walk before DD and DP return from playgroup.
