Ring the actual department that deals with it all, might be at hospital or pct type place. Do not trust the referral process, in my experience referrals end up in some black hole.

Having chortles at chefswife antics. You must really want to do it!!

elkiedee · 01/04/2009 18:06

I'm another one who often can't put baby down during the day, he usually has a good sleep in his moses basket in the evening. He does go to sleep on me but wakes up again. Now, I've started to put him down when I have to and go to the bathroom, sometimes I'll be back down before he cries, sometimes he'll just have to cry. The trickiest thing is my morning bath/hair wash etc but I've found he cries less lying on his changing mat in the bathroom with me than in another room - hopefully by the time he starts moving around he'll be less insistent in sleeping on me.

Not being able to snuggle under my duvet is what puts me off co-sleeping most - his moses basket is next to me and I do sometimes feed him lying down and doze off a bit.

I'm quite impressed by everyone else managing to maintain a sex life, it makes me feel a bit rubbish really.

PatTheHammer · 01/04/2009 18:13

elkiedee trust me DO NOT worry about this at all, you are not the only one

treedelivery · 01/04/2009 18:24

In fact it's the others that are totally abnormal

stripeywoollenhat · 01/04/2009 20:23

sex? obviously some of you are allowed to put your babies down....

nasty head colds to follow up thrush here. poor c has a sore throat and is hoarse and miserable. and my throat is suddenly suspiciously sore... oh well. delicious sweet potato curry for dinner, and c is asleep. on my lap, but asleep. and i don't have to make easter bonnets - now there's something to look forward to

went to get her nibs weighed yesterday - 10lb 11 - a weight gain of 10oz over the last two and a half weeks which is still on the low side, apparently

stripey - it's not bad though! 4 oz week within 'normal' limits. Damn them and their bloody graphs.

Not taking dd's anymore - problem solved!

moosemama · 01/04/2009 20:34

Hi all,

Well, 2 hard boiled eggs plus craft stuff, 2 pound coins for easter eggs, 2 completed posters and 2 easter bonnets plus homework later, I have finally resurfaced! Phew!

Am completely knackered. DD seems to have started disturbing a lot in the night. She doesn't seem hungry just really restless and noisy. Then she wants to sleep late in the morning, but I have to get her fed before I get the boys ready for school otherwise she wakes up just before we go out and wants a feed then.

I have to go to an easter parade at the school first thing tomorrow and the school easter service on Friday morning, really want to do it for the boys, but truth be told I'm dreading it. I think I will put DD in the moby as there's nowhere secure to leave a pram, but its always so hot in the school hall I'm worried we'll cook. Also, going by recent experience she is likely to be wanting a feed about halfway through the proceedings, breastfeeding in the school hall is a definite no-no and taking a bottle of ebm is such a faff - I wasn't going to take the change bag as we live across the road from the school. Daft really, I've been fretting about this since the beginning of last week and still can't decide how to handle it.

Not sure if I'm looking forwards to the easter holidays or not. On the one hand it means no more school runs for two weeks but on the other it means 3 kids all day every day! We also have both the boys birthdays one on Easter Weekend, on the weekend after. We are going to the Think Tank for DS1s and DS2 wants to visit his cousin near Norwich and go to the seaside AND have a 'Rocket picnic'! This has ended up as a weekend away for the whole family and all three dogs, which I fear may be like mobilising a small army!

No bedroom antics going on around here and wont be for a long time yet - DH knows the score - poor sod!

rrrayray · 01/04/2009 22:29

Chefswife Lol at you sneaking off to DD's room to get it Onnnnnnnnnn

Fym Sex at one week?? My hat off to you! We have been doing "stuff" but not full intercourse until really recently. Have just gone onto mini pill.

missj No, Weekends are the busiest time of the week. Matches are saturdays, sometimes tuesday too, trains mon-fri, and if they don't win they are called in for a warm down on sunday too. So its often 7 days a week!! So the time off in the summer we grab with both hands.

Esme was very out of character. She is a very contented baby and happy in her little routine, rarely crying, after her late afternoon nap (she takes about 30 mins 4.30-5pm ish) when starting to feed at 5pm suddenly started howling on the boob, and was howling for about an hour, eventually fell asleep on me about 6. I have no idea what was wrong with her, i'd done everything for her, i can only imagine she was under the weather.

teeth When do babies generally get their first tooth? As i'm a little concerned, Esme has been drooling alot, and putting her hands in her mouth ALL the time.... shes only 9 weeks (10 on friday!!!)

elkiedee · 01/04/2009 23:53

Stripey, my mum and I looked up "normal" weight gain and found references to 5-7 oz being average in the first 4 months but that 4 oz is ok.

tinkhas2scrummygirls · 02/04/2009 09:32

hi

moosemama · 02/04/2009 10:24

Morning

Made it through the Easter Parade with no crying or nappy filling! In fact she slept all the way through thanks to her waking late for a feed just before we went out. Had to dress her in a shortie romper though and she still cooked in the moby!

Boys were soooo cute with their little hats on and really pleased to see me so it was worth it. Forgot my camera though - doh!

PatTheHammer · 02/04/2009 13:28

ray DD had first teeth at 14 weeks and started teething at 11 weeks. Zach is doing very much what you have described Esme doing so don't rule out teeth but they can take weeks and weeks to come through. With DD she always got 4 at a time so was extremely grouchy for about 2 days, refusing feeds and crying etc and then it was all over for a few weeks. Ask your mum and MIL when you and OH had teeth as found out my DH had teeth at 6 weeks . May help explain early teething!
Moose pleased your Easter parade went well.
books hurty sex is not my favourite kind either, better the second time around and thats as far as we've got in 12 weeks
Stripey Sorry to hear about illnesses, that weight gain sounds fine to me though .

Proper chuckles emitting from the little man at the moment, I feel like a number one children's entertainer, nobody ever finds me that hilarious! Sure DH will take my crown soon

LenniEd · 02/04/2009 13:56

Chefswife Maybe that extra month makes the difference, you are keen!

DS also drooling and chewing hands - I think it might be a developmental phase to be honest rather than specifically linked to teeth as my sister's DS is also doing it (he's same age as Dylan) so think it would be a pretty big coincidence for them all to be doing it at same time if it was teeth. Mind you I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong.

Are't the chuckles lovely Pat. I love this chunky thighed chuckling stage.

Sex okay here but not exactly right. Plus everything a bit dry [far too much information emoticon] so a bit too much friction about but keeping DH off my back!! In fact last night I managed to manually relieve him (techinical term!) without getting a speck of semen on me so no need for a bathroom trip after - result! Now that really is TMI!!!

tinkhas2scrummygirls · 02/04/2009 13:59

havent had sex here since trying for bracken
bracken is 11 wks mon and she is chewing hands and drooling too

treedelivery · 02/04/2009 15:08

i'm with Tink!

Moose - glad to hear the parade went well. you must be chuffed to bit, it's things like this that get us through.

We have a bonnet here too. phew! Also I have a streaming cold. Pants.

rofl at LenniEd. You have clearly nicked my energy/motivation. Give it back!

treedelivery · 02/04/2009 15:10

Pat - chuckles sound lush. Have had a few but not really.

Ray - wind attack? If high pitched scream? Maybe fists in mouth as had found out she can? Harriet is doing same, am thinking may reach and grab soon. Seem to remember going to a cafe to celebrate dd1 doing that.

treedelivery · 02/04/2009 16:03

Join me here for an AIBU? Do feel free to be honest!

missjackson · 02/04/2009 18:02

tree have added my opinion, my first AIBU, fun!

chefswife I seem to remember you and the chef were always at it during pregnancy too! Good for you. We sneak off to spare room too as can't really relax with LO sleeping!

LenniEd similar situation too, although it gets better each time we manage. It all feels different though. Last night had agonisingly strong let-down in right breast half-way thru and started leaking - luckily OH likes the taste of breast milk! TMI, sorry.

Ray Nye has found hands and is drooling big time - agree with LenniEd that it's prob developmental stage. I think with teething they get red cheeks?

Nye had his injections yesterday, then very under the weather in the evening, screaming at one point, so we used the calpol the nurse had given us - got first dose all over our bed! Today he seems to have a cold, prob picked up in the waiting room yesterday.. all he wants to do is nurse, so am letting him. Tomorrow we are going out for lunch with friends so leaving him for the first time! I have expressed milk for my Mum to give him, so I'm sure it will all be fine, but still a bit nervous for no rational reason.

missjackson · 02/04/2009 18:03

ps books LOL at OH being 'rugged and masculine' turning up at the health centre - he was just stinky!

stripeywoollenhat · 02/04/2009 18:46

tree, pat, elkie - i think you are all right. after all, she comes of small people and my mum says i had frighteningly slow weight gain when i was a baby and, really, there's plenty of me now...

re sex, i have to say that even in the three minutes a day when c is looking the other way, what with the exhaustion and the flab and the -um, changed architecture, i really don't feel remotely sexy...

stripeywoollenhat · 02/04/2009 18:58

also, c has started drooling this week too - i looked it up (google) and apparently it's developing digestive enzymes... she has also started grabbing the toys hanging in her baby gym, which is very cute

rrrayray · 02/04/2009 21:39

missJ i know what you mean about being itchy about leaving LO even though you know they will be fine. We left Esme with In-laws for an evening the other night (about 4 hours) and i was thinking about her the whole time, when i called to see how she was (we were away for bath time) i was a real mix when i found out she was absolutely fine and had gone to bed no probs, half- Thank goodness she'll go down with them putting her to bed, but also a glimpse of Oh... My baby doesnt need me as much as i thought!

Teething i think your all right, as Esme back to normal today, but still drooling (sometimes even bubbling??!) and putting her hands into her mouth. No signs of the red cheeks. Will ask parents when OH and i teethed.

Just had a brain wave and ordered a Wii fit. Havent managed to get to the gym as its a good 20 mins away, not a road runner, etc, so now when that arrives be able to tone up from comfort of living room. Sure Esme will have great fun watching mummy hoping around. Anyone have one? You like it?

baby massage again this morning. Esme loved it. Did legs last week, today was lower tummy (bellow belly button) suposed to help wind, although luckily Esme has been great at bringing up her wind to date!!

rrrayray · 02/04/2009 21:41

Stripey how old is your LO? Esme isnt grabbing out for things yet, if it runs accross her hand she'll grab it, but she isnt yet reaching out to tug on things...oh, appart from my hair!!!

hkz · 02/04/2009 21:54

Just checking in to see whats happening, been up in newcastle visiting ILs...
