rrrayray · 31/03/2009 12:25

morning ladies.

Tree Sorry about Rug saga, afraid i don't have any stain removing tips, got nail polish on our carpet a few months ago and could only lighten the stain. That said, i know you can hire those Carpet Cleaner things... stain devils or something for about £30?? Maybe worth a shot?

missJ OH gets 1/2 may and june off, so we have to make the most of the "off season" as he's in every other day of the year- Christmas day included!

We were thinking of going to Aruba as its only 6 hours flight. But, have decided to go to La manga instead only because my best friend and husband are out there, so it means that their daughter and Esme can play in the pool together!! Plus, i think we might do Aruba for our honeymoon!!

Esme seems to be finally over her growth spurt and back into her routine.

Although the last two nights shes woken at 5.45am. BOOOOOO!! She usually sleeps through until i wake her at 7am!!!!

PatTheHammer · 31/03/2009 12:45

This maybe to late for all those in need of a hurried easter bonnet/basket type thing but just been down to my local Tesco and they have got some fabulous, cheap little crafty bits in their Easter section. Bought a load of stuff to keep DD occupied in the hols.

Moose This may be my ignorance on all things primary education wise but it sounds like your DS's school expects a lot of help from parents as standard. Not really fair I think, especially for those like you with young baby and other children to cope with. You kind of expect that sort of thing from pre-school, which relies on parents a lot, but shouldn't a school supply craft and stuff if they intend to do these activities? I can just imagine the reaction of the parents at the school i teach at if asked to do all this. Mind you , think most 15 year olds would tell me to sod off if i suggested making an easter bonnet

Zach had 12 week jabs this morning and once again didn't notice a thing. Could be his fatness but did have me thinking WHEN is this child going to get upset about someting.
Very at all this talk of holidays abroad. Just a week in the Lake District booked for us, always beautiful just hope it doesn't rain much in June

missjackson · 31/03/2009 16:42

Easter bonnets etc - all sounds like a lot of work! I guess I have all of that to look forward to...

So yesterday at my postnatal check my GP assured me the bleeding was nothing to worry about - then calls me up at 7pm to tell me I have an appt with the gynecologist for 9.30am this morning! Spent the evening worrying that it was something awful and I would never be able to have another child! Got to the hospital this morning with OH along to hold the baby, and 3 hours, 1 nurse, 2 docs and 1 scan later, was given the all-clear. They were worried about 'retained products' (sounds like a supermarket!) but everything looks hunky-dory and apparently my ovaries look like they are getting ready to release eggs again- so had better get going with the mini-pill! Have to admit I had a scary moment when they did a pregnancy test - just routine - thank god it was negative, can you imagine?!

ray lovely that OH has a clear 6 weeks off though - can he drink beer and get fat in that time?! Surely he gets days off in the week though? Because his business is horses, we never really get a proper weekend - but lots of chunks of time here and there, which I will have to get used to!

Hope everyone is doing well - quiet on here the last few days - hkz are you busy planning your wedding?

elkiedee · 31/03/2009 17:49

I'm no more knowledgeable but I agree with patthehammer about your kids' school, Moose. We took in cooking ingredients to school, and I wouldn't object to supplying the eggs, but I do think schools should buy (and have the funding to buy) arts/craft materials. I suppose it's a way of ducking asking parents for a financial contribution but it would actually take less money and time in total for the school to buy suitable paints etc for all the kids to use. And what do they do if kids are unable to bring in stuff as asked for whatever reason?

I'm falling asleep at the computer, think it's C's constant feeding, I find that sucking very soporific.

tinkhas2scrummygirls · 31/03/2009 18:18

rrray - glad esme back in routine
think bracken mite b having a growth spurt is feeding more often was 10 wks monday. getting her weighed tom

pth - glad zach managed 12 wk injections

miss j - glad u got all clear @ drs

elk - sleep well

chefswife · 31/03/2009 18:30

ah tree, the rug! the only thing i can suggest is whatever you use to clean it, use an old toothbrush and work from the outside in of the stain and dab a lot with a clean dry towel, preferably a white one so you can see how much stain is coming out. if the carpet is white, use some diluted bleach and dab using a cotton bud and dab again with the dry towel.

boo on all the school stuff that seems a never ending battle of trying to remember it all. i'm not looking forward it.

DD is doing great. the head cold seemed to come and go quickly. she wasn't too fussy either. i'm really lucky. i hope the next one is as easy. DH is playing with her right now. its been great lately. she really has taken to him. she is almost sitting by herself and so very aware of her surroundings. off to the pool again.

treedelivery · 31/03/2009 23:02

Rug ok, stain now down to apricot - so have high hopes of sun bleaching the rest out. Works on the nappies!

SHIT!!! Had forgotton Jess needs an Easter Bonnet for Friday, and there is no pm playschool so there goes my day of rest on couch with Harriet.

Hello to all, falling asleep [up since 4am with colicky Harriet] so can't chat cos can't think.

treedelivery · 01/04/2009 00:40

Can't put Harriet down. WhenI do she screams. Going to be a long night....again.

Thank God for internet. Thank God cashcard downtairs so can't buy anything in wee small hours when delerious with tiredness.

chefswife · 01/04/2009 07:29

oh tree do you co-sleep. thats what we do and i get loads of sleep. DD won't lay down by herself either so i don't get much reprieve through the day but at night i get sleep. she'll sleep from about midnight till 6, feed then sleep till about 10. i was told that at about 3 months is when you can tell if you are going to have a night owl, or early riser. we definitely have a night owl. which is fine because we are too.

fymmumoftwo · 01/04/2009 07:35

Morning - hope Harriet ok this morning

chef, we have an early riser in DS1!

Miss J - I know how you feel - I had to take the MAP after a little condom accident when DS was a week old - how awful would that have been???

tinkhas2scrummygirls · 01/04/2009 11:13

chesw - poor u with harriet must be a nightmare

LenniEd · 01/04/2009 15:31

fym - a week old!!?? Surely you weren't having sex after a week!!?? You have put me to shame. DS is 12 weeks today and we've only managed twice in that time!! A lot to be said for co-sleepers, excellent contraception!

I am absolutely terrified of getting pregnant again, I'd be really quite upset. I don't think I want anymore children, I feel like I am now at full stretch for what I can manage.

Also hope Harriet better today Tree. I co-sleep with DS from 4/5/6am to about 7ish chefswife otherwise he's happily get up after his feed. Perhaps he'll be an early riser. Shame DH and I are night owls though. DD used to be an early riser but is now a night owl so there is hope. She'll stay up to midnight if you give her chance.

DS sleeping through to 5/6ish again after a spell of waking more often. He's a little gem... I think I deserved him though after DD being such a terrible sleeper. I have an awful lot of sympathy for sleep deprived mums, it really is torture.

treedelivery · 01/04/2009 15:56

fym - sex? sex?Wha????

Have co-sleeping confession. I have woken up twice with harriet under the duvet at waist level. i just sleep too deeply.

It might be because its exhaustion fuelled [sp?], and not a decision I make and then go to bed iyswim? Because I know it is safe and that shouldn't happen. We go between the snuggle nest, amby nest and feeding/sleeping on my side.
Cheswife - like you I find the days a bit more a bugger really, I want t o do stuff. Like wee!

She just had an hour in her pram which is progress....

Oh Dog!! Rubbish!

Have you been on the SN threads here to get some advice? Sure you have.

Be positive - you have made a bonnet and been swimming - you're kids have had a great day! We didn't make it to preschool as I couldn't get my arse in gear and the baking we attempted burnt. No sign of a bonnet either. Crap crap crap panic panic panic....can't face shopping though. It would mean town and that means car seats, pushchairs, mad cafe runs for feeding and parking. Urgh

What's your sisters problem?

Maybe try another thread? I've found people love being asked their opinion, as they usually know more than the experts. Something like 'would diagnose this as....' might get a few interested.

It's 4:45 and I have done nothing about dinner.

Now our surestart has a speech person you can just roll up to. Have you thought of using surestart if they are in area?

I know what you mean about sooner rather than later.

Guess it's a pesto pasta night. Joy.

fymmumoftwo · 01/04/2009 17:13

lenni - me too I have all the DS's I can cope with

Its hard enough with DS1 3b years old - how do people cope with them less than a year apart

chefswife · 01/04/2009 17:20

tree don't worry about the duvet. we've done it too and i find that DD just kicks up a fuss when its too much. she loves to bury her head anyhow. kinda freaked me out the first few weeks but i've become use to her now. and yes, i know what you mean about going wee. i put her down and off she goes, well, most times. i've noticed in the last few days she seems ok to be left with her toys on the floor for enough time for me to get something to eat or do some housework... or do some mumsnetting. ya!

chefswife · 01/04/2009 17:25

and about sex... well, we co-sleep so we end up scooting off to DD's room because she is in our bed. its rather funny really. DD falls back to sleep, DH and i look at each other, slowly roll out of bed, and two naked parents scoot off to their child's room to get their rocks off. the bathroom is another place but not so romantic. our house is a bit of a fishbowl with large windows with no coverings. its not that the neighbours can look in but if you were coming to visit, you'd get an eye fill... sorry.
