DD sleeps with us at night which is fine for us both as it least disturbs us and it is proving to be one preventive measure against SIDS but we just wanted her to get use to sleeping in her crib any time we are at home and she falls asleep. the crib is right next to our bed. i have discovered that noise seems to be a good way to keep her in her crib longer. i left the music on the same volume and left the bedroom door open so she could hear me puttering about. i have noticed though that all the carrying of bubs has been good for my waistline.

i'm starting back running next week. for real this time. yes. going to do it. i'm slowly getting the motivation. yoga is great but i now need to get moving more. i'm walking an average 5 km 4 days a week... well, to the grocery store and back and most days i take the long way because it is a path through the woods along a creek. its really lovely and makes me want to walk however i alway get a latte. well, we need the fat for baby i guess. a little fat is good. i think i may be rambling somewhat. going to bed. night night

EachPeachPearMum · 14/03/2009 05:27

dog- sorry you had such a crappy day.
tree- such good news at last! and for real nappies... try Flamesparrow- she runs bum fluff nappies... v good service and lovely person (from my other p.n thread)
missj- enjoy your day out. Watch out for the rear door on crv- doesn't it iopen in a funny way?
chef- hi! she'll learn to sleep in the crib eventually... then get too big for it a week later
moose- dragon sounds gorgeous...

DD won a prize at nursery for dancing! and she won pass the parcel, so she was over the moon this evening.
My car passed it's mot (with a couple of advisories) so I can go to my meetup tomorrow with my other post natal thread! YAY!

DH has a weekend of fun lined up for DD while I'm away- don't think they'll fit half of it in... he's going to put our teeny backpacker tent up in the sitting room, so they can 'camp' out tomorrow night- she's going to love it

Spink · 14/03/2009 08:20

has anyone been following the BPA/Pthalates stuff in the news and has it affected which bottles you're using? I'm not sure.. trying to look into it some more...

EachPeachPearMum · 14/03/2009 09:01

stripey... where do you live then?
chef- beware of too much exercise- it can make your body release toxins, which then enter your breast milk.

treedelivery · 14/03/2009 09:51

Morning all. Lovely sunny day here.

Feel no urge at all to go for a run nor even a slow meander. Are you feeling fit to run! All power to you. Be aware if your joints aches after, the relaxin in your system may not be back to non-pregnant state yet and your ligaments won't provide their usual support. Just a thought.

Am so so tired. Yawn. dd2 has done 2 smaller poo's in 2 days, instead of the one whopper that breaks all our hearts with the pain it causes. Maybe this is the start of something better!!
It stank. Thinking of giving her infant probiotics. ANyone any experience of this?

Spink · 14/03/2009 09:56

lol eppm, I will be quoting that at dh when he next encourages me to exercise. how much is too much?

I've posted a very long and to anyone but dh & me probably very boring vid of Rosie chatting, on facebook. in case you're interested

it's really sunny here, dh has just taken ds for a walk to the marina, I'm about to get back into bed cos very little sleep since 3am. Hoping Rosie stays napping..
..what are you all up to? is it today you're heading to London missj?

Spink · 14/03/2009 10:00

tree I gave Rosie some when I was on anti-bs for the mastitis. The kellymom site has some good links for guidance re dosages. I basically broke open a capsule and put a little of the acidophillus on the end of my little finger which she sucked off. She didn't get the squits so it maybe helped, certainly didn't have any ill effects...

treedelivery · 14/03/2009 10:17

Thanks Spink, will check it out. Now go to bed, you don't want the time to fly by on here with no nap!!

Go. Go now!!

stripeywoollenhat · 14/03/2009 10:55

eppm - we live in dublin but dp is english and i have dual citizenship because i was born in n. ireland. legislation is supposed to go through next year on civil partnerships but given the whole economic crisis i am not holding my breath....

spink - i've been vaguely worrying about the bottles, but haven't really looked into it yet. dd has only ever had a few mouthfuls of anything from a bottle, but given that i am now trying to find time to express so that i can go out for an hour or so from time to time, i think it's time to get some definitely non-toxic plastic for her to turn her nose up at (not keen on bottles)

i am relieved to hear that my failure to get off the couch and do some exercise is not just cos i'm a lazy sod, but because i am protecting dd from toxic milk/myself from ligament damage...

moosemama · 14/03/2009 11:23

Morning

I have Born Free glass bottles and love them. Somehow it just feels nicer giving her her EBM out of a glass bottle than a plastic one.

Elizabeth slept for 7 hours, fed for 10 minutes, then slept for another 3 for the third night in a row last night. Dare I hope there is a pattern emerging? She also seems to be going longer between daytime feeds with the majority being getting up for 3 hours apart. I am concerned that this might result in her dropping a feed and only having 7 a day. Is this likely to be a problem?

I don't know why I'm obsessing about the number of feeds a day, I never did with the boys. They both just fed every three hours with a longer gap at night almost from day 1.

Hoping to get back to walking next week once the end of my virus has gone. I was just starting to get into it again and build up some distance when I came down with it. The only problems is I need some new MBTs as my old ones are pretty tatty now and I just don't have a spare hundred odd quid for a pair of trainers. The walking is great for general weight loss, but helps so much more with toning the legs, bum and abdominal muscles if I'm wearing my MBTs. I'm convinced they are the reason my tum has shrunk back so quickly this time around, as my abdo muscles were stronger to start with.

books at your DP.. does he know what he's done? I hope he is now making it up to you! Yay for your little girl's smiles and boo to the boy with the rugby ball. I think I might go for the MAM bottles too, tho I've read they can be a faff to clean. Where did you buy yours?

Tree thanks for packing me off to bed! I got a 15 min catnap before we were off again with a feed... think the mastitis is coming back AGAIN, new big red patch on the boob and feeling rotten. Anyway, I've gone off on a self-absorbed tangent, meant to say hurrah for your dh's job, must be a real relief. nice too to have some pressure taken off you having to go back to work - when do you plan to go back?

moose really interesting to hear about the MBTs, I bought some for dh a couple of years ago as he has back problems and they helped with that, but I hadn't considered them for post-baby tum toning...
I wanted to ask, are the Born Free bottles sturdy - I mean, do you have to be particularly careful because they're glass?
anyway. I hope you shake off the poorliness soon, lady, it must be horrible feeling so under the weather.

treedelivery · 14/03/2009 13:55

Can I just add a note about Dr Brown's bottles. Work of genius. Totally fab imo.

Love glass bottles - are they heavy?

Books - bless you. urgh!!What a week. Send dp here for firm telling of if you haven't time to do a proper job yourself.

God that would be great wouldn't it - a 'partners who need a good flame' thread. That is what is need!!

Spink - get working on that boob girl!!Am now planning to go back end of Oct so Harriet 9 months. Sure beats May!! I'm having a macdonalds to er...provide vitamins and nutients and assist in slimming. I think it will work just fine.....
Books - I turned 30 2 days after dd1 was born. Now thats how to age in a day. It Felt more like turned 70 to me. Without the bonus of having retired or paid the mortgage

Oh Dog!! 'Baaaaaaad idea' as in you might be appearing on another antenatal thread shortly.......? I had to tell someone she was pregnant at her 3 month perineal follow up appt. I was not popular.

bf can delay ovulation but can't be relied on.

Not on the group - I am on fb I think but am a bit of a no hoper when it comes to modern techonology and the new fangled ways of youf. Have you pics there?

I had merina coil and milk continued fine. I dunno what the general vibe is. Maybe start a thread?

Harriet is properly miserable. She sounds like she is having blood taken or something. . With dh cos he calms her best. Hardwired into her from his night shifts with her in the 1st 4 weeks.

MissHairspray · 14/03/2009 18:09

Evening ladies, have been keeping up to date with the thread but never have enough time to post, but have finally got an hour in the house on my own for first time in 6 weeks.

Yey for all the weddings, we got married 18 months ago and it was the best day ever. rray that dress is absolutely gorgeous. Top tip for anyone - if you don't want to spend a fortune on bridesmaids dresses you can try them on in UK shops and then order yourself from USA sites - you still have to pay import tax but ended up being about a 3rd cheaper for us, great when you have 4!

Can't believe some of the attitudes to feeding whether bf or ff - I never realised how judgmental people can be about feeding until I got pg.
Incidentally, a bit random but has anyone realised how fab lansinoh is to use as a general moisturiser? Apparently its got v. similar ingredients to some really expensive estee lauder lip balm so i've been using it on lips and hands and it is fab!

Have a good evening everyone, grandparents are babysitting so while we really just want to go to bed we're off for our first night out in months.
