Hiya, chocka weekend with singing workshop, fab night out with DH and lots of NCT newletter delivering. We went to see the Smiths tribute band on Sat and OMG it was my bets night out EVER!!! Have never been to gig where I knew and loved every single song, we danced and pogoed through the whole set, then walked home so my feet were agony yesterday. And because everyone else there loved the Smiths the atmosphere was great too, you could almost smell the joy.

Sambo Good to see you so chirpy and that DP saw for himself that food doesn't instantly equate to sleeping through the night.

Poppy I'm sure it's just the babyness that's getting him down, most men prefer kids to babies - it's us women who are biologically programmed to respond appropriately. Well done for not going nuts at him though, try and remember to let him know what a great job he's doing anyway because he probably feels v guilty about his feelings. And maybe work is hard too atm so he has no escape.

Cyteen Can you afford a trip down South to stay with family for a night or two? Give you both a break and a chance to phrase what you want to say politely?

Miamla Could you arrange to meet them for lunch somewhere on their route maybe?

Oh and can I just clarify from prev thread, I am NOT a Roxette fan but I defy any woman not sing her heart out to that Pretty Woman song if it came on the radio while she was alone.

Apostrophes! Makes me mad when you see it on professionally-made signs - FFS there are pedants everywhere, surely you just don't start a signwriting business unless you can access the brains of at least one a day!

I've managed to clean my kitchn while ds has been asleep . It's been regularly cleaned in the bits I use/see and occasional moving of things (and floors has been mopped) but I did a proper one for first time in ages. feel like I have achieved something!

Got mega sore throat/ ear ache / headache / achey neck. not a happy bunny

LoveBuckets · 02/03/2009 14:21

Oh I got 2 stalkers fans yesterday! One was a bloke at the singing workshop who I'd met at one last year and he'd stared at me and hovered the whole time, did the same thing again, had to make a quick getaway at the end. The other was at the Smyths gig, danced next to me the whole time, tried to hold my hand (I feigned a dippy deafness), didn't seem to notice DH and followed us out early, missing the encore. I wouldn't have minded but he was such a freaky dancer (bit like an orangutan.) I seem to be exuding "Come and get me, freaks" vibes at the mo.

LoveBuckets · 02/03/2009 14:22

Albs, no more cleaning this week please. Next nap put your feet up with some paracetamol and a cup of tea (caffeine makes it work better).

alittlebitshy · 02/03/2009 14:22

buckets sounds a fab night out! we enjoyed our theatre night last week, though have said i will not do again for a while as ds was in a state when we got back. Went to bed fine / happily/ as usual for Grandma but waking up and finding it was still grandma made for a screamy ds as we walked in the door. grrr.

Oh meant to say - remember a few months ago all the debate about putting them down aake and i doubted ds would EVER do it? well, suddenly he does. He likes a cuddle then wants to be put down, grabs his little bear turns onto his side (facing the wall) and sucks sucks sucks his bear!!!! Am amazed and finally believe the phrase "it will come" .

alittlebitshy · 02/03/2009 14:24

buckets ah pants - most of the tea in our house is decaf!

LoveBuckets · 02/03/2009 14:34

Oh that's good news Albs. Sunny weather, self-soothing babies, food-induced sleep improvements, things are slooooooooowly coming together for us all aren't they?

PetitFilou1 · 02/03/2009 14:38

buckets I can almost hear your boinging with energy and excitement from here. Sit down and have a cup of tea. You are making us all look OLD

cyteen · 02/03/2009 14:56

FAIL

13 minors so would have passed (had it been a real test) were it not for the following:

  1. shittest 3 point turn I've ever done
  2. braking issues (too jerky, apparently)
  3. not checking my blind spots when pulling away, although this is my instructor's fault as he has never mentioned this since we restarted lessons - I pointed this out to him and he apologised, saying his teaching is obv not perfect as with all things in life (just so you know I'm not making excuses).

The most annoying thing and the thing that has left me feeling most like shit is that, as I was coming back into the test centre, there was a load of examiners walking out, all blundering over the road - I got a bit a flustered and stalled, and the fuckers laughed at me. Very professional.

So yay. Today sucks.

alittlebitshy · 02/03/2009 14:58

are you booked for a real test? Don't panic - the 3 issues are easily dealt with and the feckers hopefully won't be there in the real test, and if they are you will cope better!

cyteen · 02/03/2009 15:06

Yes, my test is next Thursday Ha ha.

Still, at least when we got back DS did a poo for me that covered his entire bottom He's so thoughtful.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 02/03/2009 15:18

Hi evryone.
miamla that must have been quite a fright ds gave you,so glad he is ok.

buckets I just adore the energy you give off. Glad you had another good night out
cyteen My pre test lesson was shite,I had it an hour before my test in fact I did that bad my instruceter said your gonna fail and so I decided at last minute I wanted to take the test in my car. (which dh had bought me few weeks previous as a suprise)
It was an old fiesta, no power steering but I loved it and drove it perfectly in the test.
Good luck I am sure you will be fine.

Quick update.
Paediatrician I saw on friday rang me this morning, and asked me to go back in today.
just got home, they took urine and blood.
poor little man was not parting with his blood freely, so after getting several tubes full from his foot, it started to clot.so they decided to heel prick other foot, boy did he scream. Still not enough, they left him to calm down then came back and heel pricked again
They are doing a metabolic screening test.
Hoping for all results asap.

hi to everyone, sorry if i missed will go back and read thread.

pertelote thinking of you, hope being indoors is not driving you mad.

alittlebitshy · 02/03/2009 15:29

no1 oh your poor little boy poor mummy too. Lots of positve thinking and lots of love too.

PetitFilou1 · 02/03/2009 15:50

cyteen You'll be ok, that's why you have a practice test first!

no1 How stressful. Bet they didn't warm his foot up first for the heel prick test (like my very clever mw did) She said she hated repeating the test so now used hot water first (on a cotton wool ball) to make sure there was always enough blood. Here's hoping you get your results back pronto.

cyteen · 02/03/2009 16:51

no1 i've been thinking of you and M all weekend. hope you're enjoying lots of make-it-better cuddles this afternoon.

sambo/ann as promised here's the lentil things i made the other day:

you will need:

Some red lentils, cooked till you can crush a grain between your fingers
Some grated carrot
Some grated strong cheddar
A couple of cloves of garlic, finely chopped
An onion, chopped
Some ground cumin
A squeeze of lemon juice
A splosh of sweet chilli sauce, if you like

Basically, fry the onion and garlic till soft, then mix everything together into a nice soft-but-firmish smush. Shape into patties and chill overnight or stick in the freezer for 20 minutes if you're in a hurry. Shallow fry till brown on both sides. They are soft in the pan and a bit hard to hold together but once they've cooled down they go surprisingly firm, which makes them good out and about food.

i did him sweetcorn and potato cakes today, they went down a storm too. the kitchen looks like it was hit by a mash tornado

LoveBuckets · 02/03/2009 17:37

Cyteen Hey it was only a practise. For the test you have to do lots of v exaggerated head turning, it's quite funny really. I failed my first test after a year of lessons with my dad then had a 'crash course' on how to pass. Am adding red lentils to my shopping list now btw. Made some quinoa and mash burgers the other day, Kurt and me were the only ones who liked them.

Bouncy positive vibes to all who need them.

My valentines name is old hat, are we on Easter theme yet?

Hmm Buckets of Guinness all round I think...

New bathroom installation starts tomorrow (fingers crossed.) Seems v extravagant as many folks would kill for the one we have but DH desperately wants a shower and I said he couldn't have one unless the whole room got redone. It's just v badly designed, was obviously an urgent job for previous owners but now we've taken out the hot water tank we have more room to play with. I am queen of designing easy-to-clean bathrooms and kitchens on a budget (really miss my old house sometimes!) just ask!

pertelote · 02/03/2009 18:31

LOL Miamla! Don't think I sent my sympathies over your scary night, sorry. Good to see it has not dented your sense of humour

And Sibh LOL too! I might adopt FMC as an abbreviation of pertelote, which I'm sure must be annoying to type/spell all the time!

No1 it's horrid isn't it. Well done you for being there for him. When the needles come out nurses take one look at me and tell me to wait outside

Thanks for the recipe Cyteen. Sounds good.

PetitFilou1 · 02/03/2009 19:05

and there is your new MN name BucketsofGuinness lol

VG I think it is pretty usual to get heavy periods after pregnancy - however if it doesn't get better after a few cycles then see your GP. And if really bad, take something with iron to make sure you don't end up anaemic. I feel for you though, how horrible. Not looking forward to mine coming back....
