Oh my gosh what a morningso far!
DP didhis million snoozes of the alarm thing, which meant that Seb and I were awake and out of bed before hewas Then when he DID get up, he faffed about for absolute ages. By the end Iwas just willing him to get on with it and GO for pete's sake. i know that sounds bad, but I'm not used to having him here in the morning. I felt at a bit of a loss, as I couldn't potter about the way I usually do. He finally left after 9

no1 what a relief for you that your lovely Marcus is ok. Stupid about the urine test though. Incompetence and inefficiency really annoy me.

AnnVan · 10/03/2009 11:47

ack. I've killed the thread again.

TwilightSurfer · 10/03/2009 11:51

YEAH No1!!

Good night here. Reese woke only once at 3 to feed. (that's a good night in my book)

Busy day ahead. Will check back later. I really wish I could read and respond to MN on my blackberry....would make life much nicer.

ann, you only killed it because you hadn't offered any breakfast so they've all gone to the cafe!

expectant velcro? how strange! does that mean you can put velcro on the things you don't want him to touch?!

VG shall always recommend white chocolate cheesecake as a huge crowd pleaser - its SO easy to make, can be done the night before and everyone I've made it for loves it - tis my most requested its not a baked cake though, would that matter?

Miamla - dentist phoned and the first fecking apt I can get is for 14th April as she's on hoiday then we are throbbing away as I speak

have also booked my smear, had MIL mother's day present delivered and called to arrange to see a place for the christening tomorrow so am feeling all virtuous

Dylan grizzly today of course when I've tonnes to do,

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 10/03/2009 13:42

dizz, can't you see another dentist? its crazy you've got to wait so long

longwayfromhome · 10/03/2009 14:41

do you live near a university with a dental school? I had my wisdom tooth taken out by a dental student. You need a bit of time to wait around to be seen and for the student to be supervised (clearly this was pre-DS) but it is free and they did a good job.

longwayfromhome · 10/03/2009 15:15

oh and does anyone want a nice simple thing to do with your DCs ... blowing bubbles has proved to be a big hit here.

dizzydixies · 10/03/2009 16:21

LWFH am glad you had a good experience of yours, I went once to ours when I was a student and came out butchered

miamla - its because of holidays so its a PITA but if I'm careful with what I eat (i.e not too cold) I should manage - I had a tooth dressed when I was pregnant with Dylan and the dressing has come away, funnily enough as there not really meant to last 32wks so she's finally managed to take the x-rays to see what exactly needs doing and as long as I'm not a muppet with the sugary/hot/cold stuff on the left side I might manage - if not I'll be in seeing the other burd that works there

lonway - meant to say bubbles are HUGE in this house, we have the best bubble machine ever, and we know this having had to try them all practically! if you get fed up blowing you can't beat the Early Learning Centre bubble maching

VG hugs - shall berate you later for your put down but for now am afraid its all about me as am off to this meeting and papping it

no offence taken about farking Lent and if you like you can have my wine quota for tonight? does it work like that?!?

oooohhhh ahhhhhhhh meep fingers crossed ladies

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 10/03/2009 19:09

vg.. if you haven't been drinking wine on sundays as well, you're allowed a glass tonight. my logic is as follows (not sure where i read it but here goes) there are 40 days in lent but actually between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday there are 46 days because "sundays don't count"

ooh, i read it on ALBS's status so it must be true!

and if that logic doesn't strike you as a good idea, i haven't given up wine and won't be having a glass tonight so my wine quota's available as well

cyteen · 10/03/2009 20:00

Good luck at your mystery meeting dizzy!

VG if it makes you feel any better, you do for a living something which I have always longed to do but for which I have always squandered my talent in favour of watching crap telly, rereading old books and generally loafing around feeling useless.

(On which note, I really will get that thing done that I promised . Tonight!)

Am in a state of mild shock. Today DS slept for two hours in the pram and then put himself to sleep this evening with no fuss whatsoever I put him down in his cot wide awake and off he went without a murmur. Wondering if he has a doppelganger...

TwilightSurfer · 10/03/2009 20:01

VintageGardenia inertia has a way of helping us. Sometimes what "appears" incredible is better looked at through the shop window and not brought home. Your perfection is your present. When it is right inertia will crash you into it full throttle. Life's tricky like that.

Hello again all. Sorry for lack of breakfast offerings this morning we haven't got much in. Since then have been swimming, then seen hv, then internet stopped working so went round to mil's. Have not long been back.
VG have a hug from me too. I'm also not having any wine tonight, so you can have my quota as well

PetitFilou1 · 10/03/2009 20:32

Hi all
vg Why so gloomy all of a sudden? You sound exhausted. Maternity leave is not for achieving things - it is indeed for admiring the luminous beauty of your ds as you have done

Sorry I haven't time to catch up properly. Am spending some time with my dh as we reached a crisis point the other day and had to have an air clearing session. Things are much better and I have been bought books, he's coming home earlier, I almost got a lie in the other day (well he did try) etc etc so I better get off here before I ruin it all

btw for the BLW ers, Toby got given a big piece of salmon this evening and experienced it with great joy (and a lot of mess) - very little gagging as it is nice and soft and easily chewable

cyteen Could Joe manage chicken balls/meat balls etc yet? Easy to make and freeze and you can make them into easy to hold sausage shapes. I have some AK recipes that were favourites with ds1 and dd for a long time.

PetitFilou1 · 10/03/2009 20:34

Oh no1 glad to hear the news and hope you are feeling relieved although annoying that the urine test result is not through yet

sazzles I have nothing to say but

I have ds1 at home with me atm as he has impetigo .... arrgh he doesn't even feel ill

sambo303triesforScotland · 10/03/2009 20:37

sorry vg I did have my thimbleful of wine tonight so I cant offer my quota. Maybe a good thing as you're probably legless by now!!

re baking, the bakewell was a bit of a faff what with it including 300g fresh raspberries and I had to buy 3 packets of frozen summer fruits and extract all the raspberries thus getting purple stained hands and frostbite - do love my DB though

may I suggest chewy flapjacks instead?

1 6oz soft brown sugar
2 6oz butter
3 1 tbsp golden syrup
4 9 oz porridge oats

melt 1 + 2 + 3, add 4, put in 8 inch baking tin and bake 35-40 mins at gas mark 4. Cool 10 mins, mark into biscuits.

well can I just say at the introduction of solid food on DS's poo - QUELLE HORREUR!

looked after dnephew today , was successful apart from his nappies and ds's nappies. Amazing I managed to keep that bakewell down.

ps sweet potato has no effect on my ds's sleep (just his nappies)

sambo303triesforScotland · 10/03/2009 20:42

influence not introduction!! was a thimbleful, honest

a friend of dp's is pg - i am a tiny bit

vg somtimes I too think, god what have I done since being on mat leave, nothing!! Then remember, as pf says, mat leave is for admiring and experiencing this amazing LO, not writing that novel/taking up painting/reading all those books in my 'to be read' pile

TwilightSurfer · 10/03/2009 20:46

Have just given myself a pedicure. When asked in public I will say dd1 gave me a pedicure. Not very steady of hand today. Good thing I'm not a surgeon.

Will be up to my head in packing beginning tomorrow. Wishing all well. If something very very important happens please facebook me.

Taking my laptop and my blackberry so will be posting and uploading pictures throughout the beach vacation. Any last minute visitors?

Evening, trying to get more tv back into my life but had to pop on because I fancy the bloke on Freaky Eaters who is going to get upset soon and I can't bear it! He's so sweet and only eats tinned pies and brown sauce due to underlying paternal anger issues and of course they're going to make him deal with those.

No1 Maybe your mum feels like she's let you down in some way so she's now built up a fear of some big confrontation she thinks she deserves from you, the avoidance being a rut she's got into now. So if/when you do decide to talk about it you are going to have to sneak around to find a big slot in her diary and lock her in so she has no excuses. But if that's what she's really afraid of it would be a big relief (and you)for her afterwards. Big job for you though having to be the grown up to your mum, not to be tried til you're feeling really strong about everything else.
Great news about Marcus btw. Kurt did 2 wees over the potty today (was expecting poo both times so potty was in the wrong place) - you could always try catching a sample that way.

Baby cinema tomorrow - fresh cappuccino, sushi and Young Victoria. Heaven. Have a nice day y'all.
