Cyteen Know what you mean about the magic. How about this place in York? I've started looking up vegetarian hotels on the theory that they might perhaps be more thoughtful and make more effort. Stereotyping, moi?

If anyone wants to read something really scary but also fun, well-written and with characters to fall in love with, try Phil Rickman.

Right. Have hidied, bought bathroom lino, baked muffins, mini dairy-free pizzas from scratch and roasted a chicken to have cold for tea. Baking done whilst entertaining some of DH's friends (with DH) and feeding kids. Stopped briefly to talk live on local radio trying to get someone to take my bloody bath! Off to deliver some more NCT newsletters (and get DS1 to have a nap in the car) when DH gets back from B&Q. But first, some mindless Facebook games...

alittlebitshy · 08/03/2009 16:45

Evening. Both dcs asleep.
dd within 10 min
ds within hour

left to cry whinge a bit, then went up,burped, put him on tummy, left him to settle. no cries since.
vg impressive, bless him. It does sound yummy though.
s&M how is the feeding going?

I am doing a mix of puree and blw. ok so I know on mn it is one or the other, so shoot me...
Felt so frustrated seeing him struggle to pick things up, I gave him a helping hand. (perhaps if his weight gain was not such an issue I would have left him to it.

Doing well though, went to sisters today who cooked a lovely roast chicken dinner and ds happily had some too. He really loves chewing on chicken. My dsis was amazed as she jokingly told my mum she wanted to take Marcus off me as I had been giving him sticks of carrot, sweet, rice cakes etc... they do not get the BLW and can't get their heads around not doing the gradual build up of puree, mashed, then finger foods.

Just wondered if all babies who are established on solids have dropped many milk feeds and if so which ones??

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/03/2009 19:54

x post vg can I just say I never knew there was any sound on MN ads, I always have sound off and have just turned it on and jumped out of my seat when the kids at the top started shouting singing.

LoveBuckets · 08/03/2009 20:04

Hi No1, glad you've had a good weekend. I've been doing BLW by sheer accident because Kurt has only recently (ie today) worked out he needs to keep his mouth open long enough to get a puree spoon in. OMG the Cow&Gate 7m apricot puree pots with tiny lumps in are delish! Could whip it up with cream and put in a pavlova...

Top weaning tip today is plain pocorn! Kurt ate several pieces all by himself. He also discovered the joys of "Ram, Nose, Kiss" which was something I invented for DS1's affection training. OK, perhaps others have invented it off their own bat too LOL but it's very cute having him lean his forehead over ready for a ram.

Hi No1 - yes, all going okay (I'm saying it quietly in case he hears me and decides to clamp his mouth shut in protest at my smuggery) and he's managed to put a bit of weight on so hopefully the consultant will be pleased with him.

I'm pleased to hear Marcus liked the chicken - I intend to try ds on some tomorrow so really hoping he goes for it in the way he has in current faves parsnip, banana and yoghurt.

Good luck with the chasing call tomorrow - it's tough worrying and second guessing your own intuition - I'm thinking of you.

cyteen · 08/03/2009 20:31

Not sure if Joe has dropped any feeds as such, he has some days where he feeds less (like today) and then other days where he's ravenous for milk, still others where he just wants everything the world has to offer . He is definitely feeding less in the night though, which I guess is a good thing although a tiny part of me is a bit sad.

Haven't given him any meat yet - tried salmon at teatime today, it was not a hit

S&M really glad the chipolata is gaining and enjoying his scran

Buckets great tip about the popcorn. I agree that your posts are always recognisably you...I frequently have to sit down after reading them, you make me feel tired and slack with all you do

pertelote · 08/03/2009 20:45

That sounds good S&M. No1 . Thinking of you, hope you can get some answers tomorrow.

I had a couple of days of feeling as if I'd had a slight reprieve - now the sinking feeling is back with a vengeance. Perhaps because my lovely sensible DH will go back to work tomorrow and my mum will be here - I am really glad that she loves DD and is worried about her but it can be difficult for some reason. I can't either keep a completely brave face or completely let it all out, if that makes sense.

Curry sounds wonderful VG. We had a lovely chinese pork dish but it was a bit heavy on the soy sauce so DD just had some veg. Must knock up a curry and try her on that sometime. I don't think she's dropped any feeds - maybe more often two rather than three at night but far from reliably.

dizzydixies · 08/03/2009 21:28

is anyone else watching a series on BBC2 just now about a bloke who has decided to set up life as a crofter in Scotland? I think having watched Candleford doing the ironing and then this I'm about to embark on a chuck out of all technology not by that I mean all the fecking noisey V Tech toys people have given the girls etc - the laptop for MNing emergency purposes is NOT included

had worst night of my puff last night I believe. DH was on nights, Dylan up having a feed about 1am, DD2 up violently sick at about 4am and then refused to go back to sleep, point blank refused Dylan up for a feed again at 6am, DD1 up just before 7am and DH home at 7.30 - needless to say we've been grabbing naps where we can inbetween gymnastics/tesco/visitors etc DH bless him away to nights again and I am about to head off to bed

sorry for crappy me me me but am seriously tired and feeling very sorry for myself

no1 we're also doing a mixture here. the leader of my bf group is so pro blw it's quite tiresome. She preachesit non-stop. Either way. Tonight he's had pea & Potato puree. Other nights he has cooked green beans or sticks of carrot. He's a big fan of farley's rusks as well. Oh and baby rice cakes.

dizzydixies · 08/03/2009 21:37

Sazzles she was fine seconds after it which I cannot believe as anyone who has several kids will know there is a lot of vomit involved with child rearing - this was NOT pleasant by any mean manner or form and there she was yap yap yap yapping away. I put her back to bed this morning with DH so she slept it off and was on sterling form all afternoon

DH and I on the otherhand are like death warmed up!

glad to hear all well on your drive through, typical for the wee one's appt coming through for next week.

Just popping on before going to bed. Good to 'see' you No1, will be thinking of you in the morning. It's my turn to be up at the crack of dawn so will prob be on MN quite early!

Pertelote hope your mum doesn't drive you round the bend. I wish you a happy week, a successful operation and a speedy recovery for DD. This time next week it should all be done and dusted and she'll be well on the road to recovery

All you lucky ladies who got more sleep than you were expecting last night, I hope your DC do the same again tonight. And all you whose babies still haven't got the hang of it, let's hope that tonight's the night. Are you listening Isaac ?

Night all xxx

Expectant · 09/03/2009 03:05

hp hope you got some sleep.

DH leapt into action at 11 when DS set of the motion sensor alarm as had crawled to the top of the cot and was sleeping horizontally. DH proceeded to try to move DS back down the cot upon which he woke up screaming. It then took us both about an hour and a half to get him back to sleep upon which I was wide awake. He did then sleep to 6.15 though so not too bad. I did point out to DH that maybe he could just have left DS where he was and turned off the alarm as obviously there was nothing wrong with him and he's always setting off the alarm because he's moved off the pad.

No1 good luck this morning

Cyteen that was a lovely thing to say and quite true too. I didn't really imagine how I would feel after having DS and although I get down at times I can't believe how much I love him. My main worry is that I don't ever want him to feel the way I do when I'm very down. I'm worried about this as I'm sure my Mum has suffered from depression although she won't admit it and I know it tends to run in the family.

I also want to have one more. Think DH would prefer to have 3 but think he may have changed his mind a little since Sam's arrival!

Having a few issues with the parents and MIL at the moment on when they get to see DS. Rather difficult as we are so far away. Problem is we've had so many visitors since he arrived I don't feel we've had much time just the 3 of us. Arguably if we still lived in London the GPs would see a lot less of him. Mum and Dad came out for 3 weeks in September, MIL for 3 weeks in October/November joined by SIL,BIL and dnephew for the second 2 weeks, Mum and Dad came back for a month in December/January, Brother and SIL-to-be came in February and my Aunt and Uncle just left this morning. Now both Mum and Dad and MIL want to come out in August for DS 1st birthday. Mum and Dad upset because MIL has already booked her tickets so now they're not coming and want to come later in the year. MIL then coming back again at Christmas....aarghh. Oh and of course we're coming back to the UK in April/May as well.

I want them to spend time with DS but that really is too much. It's really tiring having guests as well as having to work and look after DS. I would almost rather they all came at once at least it gets it over with and maybe DH and I could have a weekend away on our own whilst the GPs babysit (provided I can get him off the breast by then!)

Steaky was loving the pics of the properties. I can look for ages at property websites too. For anyone interested this is where we live www.river-place.com.sg/ I'm not too sure about being a 'Trendy Elite' though!

Sorry that was rather long....

TwilightSurfer · 09/03/2009 06:38

expectant what an amazing place.

dizzy {{[hugs}}}

it's 2:30am. i'm up. can't sleep suddenly. knackered so i really need to be snoring. dd1 had a go with me at bedtime which is probably the reason i'm up and worried. off to the doctor for her for the suspected uti. that will not make her happy at all.

reese is such the opposite of her sister. she's calm. she goes to bed when you put her to bed. she's happy all the time. she'll shriek if she's hungry and you haven't figured it out yet but otherwise she fusses very little. it amazes me how to children of the same parents can be so different. dd1 after 5 years still stress me like she did from day one. reese doesn't stress me at all. amazing, truly amazing.

Wow Expectant that looks spectacular! But sounds like you are overwhelmed with visitors. I'm sorry I can't offer any words of wisdom, we are almost opposite to you. My mum lives about 8 miles away, my MIL only 3 () so we see them all every week, but at least it's only for a couple of hours at a time. Is your DS the first grandson? It can make them go a bit loopy I think, but does wear off a bit over time

TS good luck with DD1 at the doctors. I'm at the difference of your two DDs, it's a nice treat for you to get the placid one second. I was the placid one as a baby, my little sister was a screamer (and still is a lot bit, lol!) Mum thought she was pg when sis was a year old, she totally freaked and made my dad have a vasectomy

Quite good sleeps here - accidentally woke DS when I went to bed but then he slept til 4 then came in with me at 6 and we dozed til 8. Looks cold and windy outside. Not sure if I'll be able to persuade DH to get digging again.

No1 hope you're OK

hotterpotter · 09/03/2009 08:49

Am being booted off by DD who wants her fishy game on anything for a quiet life. Be back later; hope you all have a lovely day. Plus an extra for Dizzy in anticipation of a successful trip to the dentist
