Sorry about ballsing up the link.

Buckets, I'm glad what I said was ok. And thanks for the tip about the book too. I will follow that up and weigh my options again I think.

You are so right about the film by the way.
Even I, the queen of the scaredy cats, can't get freaked out. What was Gary Oldman thinking ... the only good bits have him in.

Sazzles - Tom Cruise's Irish accent is the aural equivalent of the violence done by the lovely Keanu to the English accent in Dracula.

Hope you all get on well with your children in the night (bad Dracula jokes aplenty here)

TwilightSurfer · 08/03/2009 02:42

Evening. Morning. Whatever.

I'm a little freaked at the moment. I think DD1 has a UTI. It was treatment for that last year that messed her whole body up. I don't want to go through that again. What are some natural child-friendly ways to halt a UTI in it's tracks?

morning - ooh am first on...
MUCH better night. One wake up at 1.15. Dh tried to settle; i ended up feeding and he then slept til sometime between 7 and 8 (not sure as i dozed off after dd got up and only woke when his chatter squawks got insistent)

We were in bed at half 8. I Was asleep by 9.15 so got a good 4 hours before the wake up; poor dh couldn't drop off til 11 though AND he was up at 6.15 for the 8am service today

LoveBuckets · 08/03/2009 09:03

TS In Chinese medicine eating kidneys and animal genitalia increases the burning power of the kidneys (which are the engine of the body). That the sort of thing you wanted?

Sibh I think the shock of being given a book for nothing might make them take the contents seriously!

CaptainCaveman · 08/03/2009 09:17

Pleased to report a great night for the first time in, well, forever really! I fed O when I got in from the pub, around 11.30, then he slept til 5am , then til 8.45 I feel like a new woman!!

buckets I wanted a 2nd child but had to badger persuade dh. I didn't want Tom to be an only child, I'm also the youngest of 3. I also couldn't bear to think of something happening to Tom and then having no children - does that sound weird? I would love a 3rd but dh has definately vetoed that one.

Hope your weather today is as sunny and lovely as it is here currently?

Glad to hear you sounding so much perkier CC and ALBS . No such luck re sleeping here, but was my turn for a lie-in today, DH took DC down at 7.30 and I went back to sleep till 9 . Still in my pyjamas too, sausages and dippy egg for brekker in about 20 minutes, what a lovely day

Loved that bin VG, just a leetle bit too pricey though!

On the subject of additional DC, I really don't see what's wrong with having more because you want your existing child(ren) to have more siblings. That's one of the reasons I'd like another (apart from another year off work, obv)- my two will probably only have one cousin and I wanted to make up for that a bit. Both DH and I had quite a lot of cousins growing up and it was a brilliant thing. Will just have to make sure we have plenty of time with our friends instead But, oh why didn't I start sooner, could have easy fitted another one in.

hotterpotter · 08/03/2009 10:00

It's a lovely day here too, although rather cold. Am hoping to persuade DH to get digging again in a bit; he put in one pre-formed pond yesterday, we have another that needs doing too. It's getting desperate because the old knackered pond is filling up with frogs and we need to give them somewhere else to make froggy love before we fill it in and turf over it.

alittlebitshy · 08/03/2009 10:20

cc wow what a good night for you!!! woo hoo!!

vg glad no1 is bearing up.
Also vg from my days as a classics student yup you've got the right death for poor ol' hector.

I put ds down for a nap at 10 (started earlier but as usual had to feed him to calm him - argh). I'll have to wake him by 10.45 to get to church but last week he had no nap in the morning so i had to dash out the door as soon as the service was over, leaving the cakes and tea behind m (waaah) as he needed bed that second. Not missing cakes a second week!

hotterpotter · 08/03/2009 10:54

Looks like we may be too late with the pond, there are about 100 frogs in there now, all writhing around and making frogspawn . On the plus side there is one frog in the new pond

AnnVan · 08/03/2009 11:56

VG that was Hector (being dragged by a chariot)
Ialso agree about that version of Dracula. What REALLY annoyed me about it (apart from KEanu's wooden acting and terrible accent) Was the fact that the continuity wrt his hair colour was just rubbish. Anyone else noticed this? It's constantly changing from black to grey to white to ust a streak of grey. Really wound me up.
Happy to report another decent night chez van

cyteen · 08/03/2009 12:17

morning all, pleased to see so many babies giving their mums and dads a break good night here too despite Joe only having slept for a total of about an hour during the day - poor little thing was so tired by bedtime he didn't know what to do with himself, we were quite worried at one point as he seemed very glazed and not himself. however, after DP eventually got him down at 8ish, he went all the way through till 3am when i fed him he still got up at 5.30, but hey ho, we all had fun, then he and I went back to sleep between 8 and 9. lovely!

i know MN general opinion is that food and sleep aren't linked, and i do agree that night waking is unlikely to be one of the signs that you should wean, but once they are eating it makes sense for a link to exist. Joe is eating 3 meals a day alongside lots of milk, therefore he is less hungry in the night.

porridge for breakfast here, good god what a mess went down well though after initial suspicion. now he is sparko on my lap and i am meant to be find accommodation for 2 nights in York for an upcoming wedding. any recommendations from the holiday gurus?

no1 if you're reading this you guys are on my mind a lot. really hope all is well and you're just enjoying some RL family time...please give that gorgeous boy of yours a big hug and kiss from all of us xx

Re. Dracula, yes, laughably bad - the very definition of 'craptivating'. i do love a bad film though, it has to be said. sometimes there's nothing better than kicking back with your best mate, a bottle of wine and some sackfood, and watching something utterly rubbish.

Wanting kids, well, I just knew I had the right man and was at the right point to maybe make a decent fist of it. had the biological urges for years but was waiting for my self to catch up, iyswim. now that he's here, it's like finding a doorway to a whole other dimension, where everything is brighter and more real (or is that just the sleep deprivation talking, lol).

i know this is so emo it hurts, but he has made me believe in magic again i hadn't realised how grey life was without it until he arrived.

so i definitely want more although 1 or 2 would probably do me. think DP will be happy to stick at just another one, but we will see scarily i could actually contemplate ttc again soon although that's just my body talking...the 'me' part of me is thinking 'fgs woman at least get a few decent holidays under your belt first'

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/03/2009 12:34

Hi all, sorry have been away for a few days (away from mn not on holiday lol)
Have missed you all dearly and have had withdrawel symptoms too

I needed to step away from google.....and I didnt want to keep bleating on to you all, You all have your own worries and daily stresses. However I would like to thank you all for concerns and thoughts. Once again you are all wonderful
I still dont have any results, but I will be phoning first thing.
If I am honest I am worried even though I tell myself I shouldnt be.

Thoughts and hugs to all that need them too.

so sorry for not replying to everyone, has took an age to catch up, but thoughts to all of you.

TwilightSurfer · 08/03/2009 12:43

{{{HUGS}}} No1.

Glad the babes are sleeping more. Ladies you sound a bit more alert and chipper.

VG it was the floundering back in forth feeling that made me stress the snip snip with dh. Now that's it's done my mind can rest and we can more on to other things in life. There was only two in my house and for me two is a good balanced amount. I will consider a dog soon though. I forsee an austrialian sheperd in 9 months.

Time change here today. I lost an hour. CRAP! It's not enough that there's not enough hours in my day but then they go and take one away.

You know on the that kids/pets topic...before dd1 i adopted three cats and then after dd1 i adopted a forth so i've basically been adding babies to my life for 10 years (1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008).
