My little man is currently onmy lap gumming a baby rice cake. So far today I have mmanaged to do two loads of laundry and a bunch of washing up, hung one load out to dry, put nappies outside to sun stains out and made two batches of puree.
Not bad.

alittlebitshy · 06/03/2009 15:19

He went bqack off btw - been asleep for the last 40 mins - so he's now had over an hour in total - thank goodness. Wonder when he'll wake up. I was dubious that he'd go off again but hey he was tired. V proud of myself (and him).

Have been on Mn since then - poor dd is watching tv .

pertelote · 06/03/2009 17:16

Well done both of you! Not much achieved here. Apple bread didn't rise .

I thought the doughnut was brilliant because she couldn't escape it (unlike the bumbo) - our kitchen floor is so hard that I worry about her falling even just from sitting. Apart from that she doesn't really need propping up anymore. But now she is definitely trying to get out so don't know what to try next.... we have a bouncer but I don't think the doorway is really wide enough for it. Ho hum.

dizzydixies · 06/03/2009 17:18

travel cot pertelote, brilliant things for containment!!

pertelote · 06/03/2009 17:31

Genius Dizzy, of course! We have one somewhere, second hand and unused by us as yet... will dig it out and see where I can squeeze it.

LoveBuckets · 06/03/2009 17:42

Cyteen She sounds like she was fun.

Sazzles My mum sacked a cleaner after she asked 'How do you get away with it? Doesn't your husband mind?' To be fair was actually a cleaning couple so her husband was probably a bit mental re cleaning.

My doughnut has a puncture, annoying because Squirt is just at the right stage for it and was really enjoying it. Think someone 3stone+ stamped on it.

Sausageandmash · 06/03/2009 17:52

i would like to add to the puree batchers call - swede and parsnip today. sadly he kept his mouth firmly closed for the former but was, hurray, wide open for the latter. however, this is nothing in comparison to the soya yoghurts - when i crack one of those open he looks like a little fledgeling bird and i can't shovel it in fast enough!

thanks for the couscous tip - ace idea.

hope you all have lovely weekends dripping with happy and/or sleeping bairns.

I think we have found our new home.

It isn't modern or modernised, but has a really nice feel to it. The apartment is the first floor of a detatched house - but purpose built rather than conversion. I like the fact the kitchen has little double doors into the living room and there is a balcony all along one side. Also a pantry/laundry room and a garage for all our crap crap

Going to it again with the FIL next week to make a fix-it list and then hopefully negotiate reduced rent for the first month in return for us doing the work, and I mean us in the loosest possible sense.

So busy yet productive over here.
Going away for the weekend to meet some more of DHs friends and mother flying out on Monday.

I was quite hoping for a bit of a rest but life isn't like that is it?

dizzydixies · 06/03/2009 20:59

steaky it looks great

shall we have a meet up in Paris girls?!

hotterpotter · 06/03/2009 21:02

Evening all. Sorry I've not been on all week, it's been a shit week in the hothouse . Ended up with both DC at the doctors on Wednesday, poor DD was sick from coughing and barking on Tuesday night so badly she couldn't catch her breath, DS just so full of snot and coughing he could barely sleep. Well the doctor listened to their chests and it's just a nasty cold and there isn't anything to be done but ride it out . Things do seem to be looking up a bit today though, only one minor tantrum due to tiredness (not mine!) so perhaps tomorrow will be OK .

Sorry to be a misery guts, it's so minor compared to some of your troubles . Pertelote I hope you're bearing up OK and DD doesn't get bumped again.

Dizzy don't worry we are getting nowhere with weaning too. Am very when I hear of other babies relishing all sorts of stuff, DS clamps his gums tight over almost everything, and has been coughing/retching every time I give him something to hold and chew. I am consoling myself with the thought that it won't go on forever, and there is some consolation in the fact he's still getting almost all his calories from me

Must stop moaning anyway, hope you're all looking forward to a lovely weekend

It's wine o'clock, hurrah!!!!!!!!!!

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 06/03/2009 21:08

dizz a meet-up in Paris? wonderful idea! without DCs though
re DD2 could have been worse, she could have put a brick in her stocking before hitting the dog with it!

hotpot sorry to hear about your poorly DCs. hope the weekend brings lots of snot free noses

steaky that apartment looks lovely! i love the lime green kitchen. seriously, if DP would let me, that's the colour i'd have mine!

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 06/03/2009 21:08

Wine o'clock - he he he - I just told DH and he piped up with a hopeful "sex o'clock?"

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 06/03/2009 21:11

oh no that's not it no the one with the lime-green kitchen. That was the one we hated!!! Though I did quite like the kitchen.
That one is tiny with no storage and really badly finished decorating.

No tis this one

hotterpotter · 06/03/2009 21:16

Not sex o'clock here, much rather drink a bit too much wine, eat crisps and watch telly

Steaky that apartment looks great, you must be very excited at the thought of your own place as a family . How far from the coast are you? Near enough to organise a meetup in Nice?
Miamla how is your amazing standing up DS today? He is putting all the other August babies to shame with his physical prowess

dizzydixies · 06/03/2009 21:18

steaky its a dog toy christmas stocking, she's not yet mastered taking her tights off and smacking people with them - yet loving the apartment, the double doors and big windows are great

paracetamol not working on sore tooth so may take heat pad and go to bed roll on dentist on Monday

hotter - sorry to hear all poorly, fingers crossed for improvement overnight again

hotterpotter · 06/03/2009 21:23

Ouch Dizzy there's nowt worse than toothache . Do you have ibuprofen?

Wow Steaky that one's even nicer. See you have opened a whole new avenue of property porn now

dizzydixies · 06/03/2009 21:25

am going to give the paracetamol some time to kick in and then if not am I allowed neurofen plus? I think thats all I've got other than the kids stuff!!

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 06/03/2009 21:25

tis early to bed o'clock here too.

I was co-sleeping with Izzy when we were in England and she has taken a couple of nights to settle back into her cot. She seems to have got rather used to just whacking me in the face to wake me up to feed her.

Hotter we are a couple of hours from Marseille - three and a half from Nice.

Yes very much looking forward to a PIL free zone. PILs are trying to sell their house so MIL is in a hyper-tidy frenzy at the moment. She re-makes our bed and sprays room freshener before visits, but has to go out as she finds them too stressful. Bless her she would have a fainting fit if she knew of all the hidiers out there.

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 06/03/2009 21:32

Just for you hotter here are all the flats we saw today - except the last one as that was out of our budget and there is one that isn't on there too.

I can waste hours on Right Move looking at places.

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 06/03/2009 21:38

tis all from me, night all.

hotterpotter · 06/03/2009 21:39

I love the look of the one above the bar, but I bet the novelty would soon wear off . We are hoping to move next year, I will have to let you all help me look!

Dizzy I think stuff with codeine in is not really recommended if you have an alternative, but should be OK for a one-off. Could you get drunk instead? Although I had a bad tooth last year and drinking was really painful shouldn't have been drinking though, as I was pregnant . Wish I had just had the fecker pulled out straight away
