Morning, Oliver has now been asleep for 2 hours Unheard of in his terms. Nights still crap with 3 wake ups. This tiredness will end one day, won't it?

Proudly been tidying today and not hidying like normal. Dh away now til tomorrow so I plan to relax this evening in a nice tidy house

cyteen · 06/03/2009 11:19

Yes, I can see how that might have felt like it missed the point somewhat steak. My mum's funeral was awful, just the worst nightmare day - she was a lesbian feminist non-Christian hippy spiritual type but her parents were (completely non-observant) Methodists so for some reason we ended up with a religious funeral. It was the least appropriate, least representative service we could have had, not to mention that the guy doing it of course knew nothing about her as a person so it was a real 'insert name here' one size fits all job. I was fuming, as was my brother, and all my mum's friends didn't know where to look. Ghastly.

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 06/03/2009 11:26

Oh my Cyteen sounds horrendous. I think the poor fellow had a tough job. My aunt has very specific views on funerals - no songs, no readings - and as she is the oldest child my mum defers to her, but she did managed to have a hymn and persuade my aunt it shouldn't be a rota bod doing the service. Both my aunt and my mum are very active in their churches but have very conficting views over some aspects of it.
Aunt very anti women ordination, mum probably going to be ordained as a vicar in the next few years.

Ah well tis done now and hopefully there wont be any more for a while.

TwilightSurfer · 06/03/2009 12:16

I am glad I'm not the only one who has opinions about funerals. I'm a REAL type person who likes pomp but only if it's not just fluff. My granny's funeral last month had a 12 year old minister (maybe he was 20) who started off by saying he knew very little about our family but then went on to talk for a good 45 min. I don't even remember what he said BUT he did DeStRoY my name which unnerved me just a tiny bit. OH but the cake topper was the MUSIC. The gentleman who sang was very nice but his singing was preseason American Idol. OMG sadly I had to pretend I was crying because my giggle box clicked on. Stress does that to me.

Ann if it helps, Reese was up a million times last night....FOR NO REASON.

Cyteen I like your term ELASTIC. Good description.

It's FRIDAY!

indeed it is DP has duly been instructed to fulfil my needs

just had a call from the DSA, they have rescheduled my driving test to...dun dun DAHHHHHHH.....friday the 13th batten down the hatches and stay off the roads!

AnnVan · 06/03/2009 12:26

cyteen that funeral does sound horrendous. My dad is a methodist minister, and does a lot of unerals, but he spends a lot of time meeting the family and talking to them etc. Once a new girl started at my work and it turned out my dad had done her gran's funeral. She couldn't stop telling me how great my dad was and how much he helped them. Unfortunately not all ministers are quite so thorough and do as you say 'insert name here'.

TwilightSurfer · 06/03/2009 12:32

LOL Cyteen that's great!!!

alittlebitshy · 06/03/2009 12:36

ann yeah my dh does too - he makes sure he knows a fair bit about the person, their life etc etc. he hates one size fits all funerals. he always gets complimanted on the service and so he must be doing something right... I think a fair number of retired priests do them for the dosh to supplement pension and they are often less scrupulous

Allezlesbluessteaknife · 06/03/2009 12:38

Off to french class and then viewing rental apartments - wish me luck.

alittlebitshy · 06/03/2009 12:44

cyteen - oh that is brillaint! lol! d'you reckon they'd had cancellations on the date???!!!

argh - ds flipped at the thought of a nap in his room. left him crying -been about 3 mins. will go and cuddle him now.... thought he might drop off. no joy. not into leaving him to cio or cc (though did a bit with dd - he is so different personality wise) but want him to get the idea that i'm not giving in and going to take him out of his room....

alittlebitshy · 06/03/2009 14:05

ended up feeding him practically to sleep. we'd got past that - he would just roll over and go to sleep like he does at night. argh.

dizzydixies · 06/03/2009 14:09

f'king 'ell Sazz what are your standards when you've had cleaners in and everything remind me never to let you in my house

DH finally taken the hint that I'm about to loose the plot and taken DD2 and Dylan out for a wee while before he goes to work - just in time for me to go and collect DD1 from school and get her ready for her riding lesson - some help eh?

alittlebitshy · 06/03/2009 14:11

thanks ALBS, I know but its just I'm trying to get this presentation done before Tues, I didn't have a great night and granted he got up BUT with the singing kettle blaring on the TV and then once all up he went back for a nap and the house looks like a bomb has hit it so will have to do it all anway

sorry, I shouldn't moan, he IS trying. I think I'm just a bit stressed

sazz I know how you feel, I have decided to think of this house as a living/breathing part of this family and as such shouldn't have to endure a bath/shower every single day and shall allow it a pyjama day mostofthetime on occassion

am only going to collect her majesty and get her ready for her riding lesson.

oh oh and I get to go to the post office too - now don't be too envious all at once ladies

half a farkin hour sleep. ARGH! he woke up still sleepy. I fed him (anything in the hope of more zzz!), he dozed off but woke up screaming. have left him for a few mins now.. see if he dozes off again. Am going insane. after bad nights, bad days are the worst!

alittlebitshy · 06/03/2009 14:35

sazzles . have you used them before?

pertelote · 06/03/2009 15:05

Phew! Back at last - lost internet yesterday. Thanks for all the good wishes re postponement.

ALBS so agree re bad day after bad night - horrible. For some reason (cabin fever?!) DD decided yesterday that she didn't want to sit in her usual place (a sort of inflatable doughnut) in the kitchen while I washed up/cooked etc and she's keeping it up today. Resorted to dragging the highchair in instead so let's hope that remains acceptable...

to everyone else who needs them. Baking continues apace - so cake all round, here you go....

alittlebitshy · 06/03/2009 15:08

pertelote ds escapes his nest/ring/doughnut. dd called me in cos he was stuck earlier - his feet were still in but he was practically on his head wedged between the nest and the tv stand . I dashed to rescue hinm but had a bit of a giggle. Am sure dd only escaped it once....
