She works Jam (she is only 55) and wouldn't come for a long stay anyway. She does not go anywhere without Dad. I think she will find it difficult to come alone even for a short time, that is why she wants me to stay there (easier for her)

I think she does realise how upset i am especially over my sister. We did use to be very close.

It is sad, i can't see a compromise really. I wont stay in an atmosphere like that.

They do not get on with dh really, he is forthright and blunt and wears his heart on his sleeve, feelings at the surface. They clash, with Dad especially.

B is still screaming too, he just gets a nod from me now and marches off to the stair

Sorry mrsjb posted before refreshing page.

I remembered you falling out It must be so hard living together.

I find the whole thing infuriating, if my bloody sister just behaved like a sister we may not be in this mess Of course it could have all happened anyway who knows.

Tillyscoutsmum · 25/03/2009 18:56

LG&T - I can understand you sticking to your guns - what your dad and sister have done is unforgivable. for your mum though - she's sort of stuck in the middle I suppose. I remember my dad and step mum staying in touch with my ex h (round for Sunday lunch etc,) and it was really hurtful and it wasn't even as if he'd done anything wrong really (unlike your ex). Family is family and you're supposed to stick by them ...no matter what

I think we have the molar issue here as well - lots of whingeing (I can't stand whingeing - give me screaming, shouting, tantrums instead. Whingeing just drives me insane). We have had two full nights sleep though without Calpol so hopefully things are looking up

elkiedee · 25/03/2009 21:54

Eeek, sorry mrsjb and lg&t to hear about your family troubles.

Well done AM re assignment.

Catchastar, I know 52's a disappointing grade but even though all the feedback sounds like negative comments, if they at least explain what is wrong you have something to work with. I once had an essay grade like that and it was only some months later when I went back to read the comments before writing 2 essays for the other half of the course that I begun to think he'd done me a favour - I had other tutors who didn't really offer me feedback on what I needed to do to get better marks.

Hope your next assignment on that course turns out better, anyway.

JamInMyWellies · 26/03/2009 14:13

Hi all,

LG&T am so sorry things are shitty with your family. Offload on us as often as you need.

MrsJB same to you.

I am liking the father sized lockable cupboard it would come in very handy. There is one good thing to come out of bloody annoying parents we can try our damndest to not be like that for oue children when they are older.

TMAM any rain yet you can have some of our tis pishing down and I have to take the hound out. By the way how is your dog ours is still mental he is being threatened with doggie borstal he has taken to running around with dead rabbits in his chops.

AM congrats on your assignment.

Catcha I am exactly the same cant be arsed if someone just rips something to shreds. Hope contacting the tutor has been helpful.

Scoot hope DH gets the right results today.

Oh and the tantrumming screaming constant whinging is still present in the jam household Everyone keeps saying its a phase but its been going on since he was about 2wks old surely it will come to an end soon. Its a good job he is funny and can make me laugh. On the other hand Lachlan although a complete bugger at night time is a joy during the day eats sleeps and plays quite happily all day long.

Hey elkie hows the feeding going?

TheGreatScootini · 26/03/2009 18:01

He passed .I am so pruod of him.He first started this course when I was abot 3 months preg with L which feels like a lifetime aqgo, but he has stuck at it through two babies, two house moves, a promotion at work which has made his 9-5 even more difficult, and now .I think he is amazing..and as you know its not like me to gush about DH

Unfortunately we cant go out and celebrate as all our potential babysitters are home with their kids who have....chicken pox..and am pretty sure ours are about break out in spots too..what was that I said last week about mine never having it?

Typical

I will go and have a catch up now..hope everyone is ok..

Themasterandmargaritas · 26/03/2009 18:17

Hooray for MrScoot Maccy D's all round.

Nope still no rain..........

I can't believe my baby boy is going to be 5 tomorrow, it's gone so fast. I wish J was 5, then he would go in the car without throwing a major wobbly every time.

School holidays for us from tomorrow, hurray! A whole month of no school run. Bet your bottom dollar it starts raining tomorrow

AprilMeadow · 26/03/2009 19:55

Great news Scoot!!

Happy Birthday for B tomorrow TMAM

elkiedee · 26/03/2009 22:43

Well done Mr Scoot

Thanks Jam, GP's appointment yesterday and hospital consultant today for C - both went really really well, hospital thought his weight gain was fine and suggested I get him weighed less and that they'll give me another appointment in a couple of months. No further suggestion of giving him formula.

TheGreatScootini · 27/03/2009 07:10

Great Elkie!Thats really good news..Well done you for sticking with it

Tantrums here averaging one every two hours, either M or L or if they are being really special, both at the same time..its grim...This too will pass this too will pass..I feel like death warmed up still and have beaten my previous poor record by already losing my temper-and its not even 7 am yet

Im gald you spoke to your Mum Gin.At least she was a wee bit concilliatory. My Dad struggles to express himself, except through getting cross. And when he does he always says something absurd that is unhelpful..so much like yours by the sound. Can I just say though that your behaviour has been exemplary throughout.Be very sure about that. And I suppose in that there may be [scant?) comfort..I wish your sister would see sense..

Did the tutor reply Catchastar?I think your are very sensible to email her.I would never have dared-I just didnt have the confidence and would've just carried on getting lambasted and not improving..you are very brave.Well done you..

All the people in DH's office bought him lovely champagne last night before he left and his boss has scheduled a meeting with him to 'talk about his money and where he is going' on Monday..so hopefully things will be on the up and up I dont think he will get much more straight away but maybe enough for us to afford to get a cleaner and an ironing person which will be a life saver Im so pathetic..ive only got a wee semi, but I jsut cant summon the energy to clean and iron properly at weekends..princess, me?
They are taking him out tonight as well and for once I have been invited which never happens on a McNight out..still no sitter though so a night in with the telly for me..think will buy self some chocolates to keep me company

SKYTVADDICT · 27/03/2009 09:23

Thats great news scoot. Fingers crossed for a pay rise x

I may have been a bit hasty in thinking I could claim my Accident Sickness and Unemployment insurance as I have been made redundant! It may have been a useless insurance all along as somewhere in the last five years they have decided to slip in a clause that says "to be eligible for this insurance you must work at least 16 hours a week". It was not in the original policy document but it is in the latest one. They sent a letter last year saying there were changes with a table of the changes attached and what I thought was another copy of the policy document. There was nothing about the 16 hours thing on the table of changes. Unfortunatley the wording has changed in the document. I am only contracted to work 15 hours so unless the very nice man at work just happens to tick the wrong box I could be buggered and in very desparete need of a job - I could cry.

In fact I did cry this morning when DD2 said I could take some money out of her account to pay for a stage school thing she wants to attend at £165 for 12 weeks at 3 hours a week. This doesn't sound much for what you get its just that I really don't have it!!

Then there is DD1s ski trip + the fact that she still has some very rich friends and wants to be included in their birthday presents etc - two have bought for another friend and spent £18 each! That is a lot for a friends birthday imo! DP says she has to say she cannot be included this year - i.e. I won't buy for you and you don't buy for me - but that is really hard for her - I could cry again!

I am going to go away now - sorry for moaning x

TheGreatScootini · 27/03/2009 09:30

Oh SKY .I am sorry to hear that..what a nightmare.Do you know the person at work who ticks the box well enough to ask for a favour?

You are not moaning..its horrid.

very un mumsnetty hugs to you..

And there me blithering on about cleaners.I feel a bit ashamed now.Sorry Sky.

twelveyeargap · 27/03/2009 10:24

SKY, I'm sorry. If the theatre thing is TheatreTrain; don't touch it. Rubbish. (The amount seems to be similar to what I paid.) Check it out. If it's any sort of franchise then it won't be worth the money. Also forget it if they put on a "big" production with paid tickets at the end of the year. A lot of the money goes into hiring a theatre and sets etc and not into training your children. Could you look into any amateur dramatics companies nearby? Usually they are free. What age is DD again? Secondary schools often have after school drama clubs. IME, the cheap and cheerful small classes are far better because they tend to be run by people doing it for the love of drama/ dancing/ whatever, than for making money. Does that make sense?

LG&T, I am so gutted for you. I'm glad that your mum is making at least a little effort, but can totally empathise with the rubbish family. It's the unsaid things and atmospheres that are killing me.

Hooray for Mr Scoot! Really, really thrilled for you. Thank God that is all over. All the stress of that on top of everything else. You all deserve an easier time of it.

I don't know how you run in that heat TMAM. I also did 8 miles this week. Except for various reasons too long and boring to go into, I started at 10pm on Tuesday night. Then had a hideous night with O involving spare bedrooms and almost no sleep, then personal training the next day. I gave up last night and blew off boot camp. I had to help DH set up his DJ stuff anyway. He agreed to play at someone's party last night and needs my help nearly every time to set up the software and wire up the bits. I should start charging a fee. Then he forgot the charger for his laptop and I was actually in the car at 10pm ready to drive the East End with it so the power wouldn't run out before the end of his set, but thankfully someone found a Mac cable there, else I might have brained him with it. Particularly, since I'd gone for a lie down after settling O, such was my fatigue and got up again 5 minutes later when he couldn't get the headphones to work. I was completely wired after that and ended up watching telly til 1am. Meh.

Am going to Ireland for the night tomorrow for a night out with the girls. Hopefully I will have time to pop in to the hospital and see my nana before visiting hours are over. She went in earlier this week with an infection/ weakness and they've now found an irregular heartbeat so they want to anaesthetise her today and shock her heart to regularise the rhythm. Fingers crossed.

Have to take A to the GP this afternoon. She has absolutely awful nappy rash. Started after she fell asleep for her nap with a poo in her nappy. Didn't realise until she got up. Broken skin etc. Have tried everything from airing her bum to calendula ointment. HV suggested it might be an infection. Poor thing. Keeps saying "Sore bottom" and clawing at the skin every nappy change.

TheGreatScootini · 27/03/2009 11:17

Have a great night tomorrow TYG..Hope your Nan is Ok..

What is it with sleep at the moment?Mae is up between 3 and 4 every night. And then L got up at 5 today-but think thats coz she is ill-she has gone back to bed now and is sparko. No such luck with Mae though who is clearly feeling rambunctious as she is clambering everywhere and getting ALL the toys out.Ive never known a child make such an almighty mess as she does.

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 27/03/2009 11:21

Scoot - did you get my msg. Only prob is that it's a double room. All the twins were gone.

AprilMeadow · 27/03/2009 11:46

oh yeah MrsJM

Ella is up at 5.30 every morning at the moment - joy! Wouldnt be so bad but she wakes J and that puts him in a foul mood for the day.

Off to Center Parcs at Longleat this weekend.

twelveyeargap · 27/03/2009 11:56

Don't worry about the early waking. They'll be waking an hour later as of Sunday morning.

AprilMeadow · 27/03/2009 12:00

TheGreatScootini · 27/03/2009 12:31

I beg of you.Mae will prob adjust her clock accordingly..

I dont mind sharing Mrs JM..

CP seems just the place to be this weekend AM Its ruddy freeszing here.I cant get warm.

SKYTVADDICT · 27/03/2009 12:59

Have been and given myself a kick up the bum! There are so many people worse off than us! We have four lovely healthy children and are not on the bread line apparently according to DP.

TYG - the theatre thing is a franchise I believe but run by her favourite teacher at school with the singing part being done by another teacher at school. Think we may give the first 12 weeks a go and see how she gets on. Hope you have a lovely night out - sounds like you need it.

I have received the claim form in the post today and the employment part asks for "average hours worked a week". Think as I used to cover 4 weeks full time holiday I should just about wangle being able to put 16 hours which hopefully the finance man at work can also do for me. Will keep you updated.

SKYTVADDICT · 27/03/2009 13:02

Does anyone know what age a buggy board is suitable from?

I gor one from a friend and have had two interesting walks with C and am thinking 23 months is a little too young - i.e. friends had to push L back to the car as I was visibly struggling. C liked the idea, but also liked the idea of jumping off as and when he felt like it!!

TheGreatScootini · 27/03/2009 13:11

Ah, well that seems a bit more hopeful.

MmeJaffaB · 27/03/2009 16:15

It's clear.............;

All normal, friends Lungs!
Thank F for that I was at hers this afternoon when the phone rang, she has caller ID and it came up saying Lim... hospital. I lost my stomache at that moment along with my friends colour but found it moments later when a huge grin and a thumbs up came from her direction. There were tears of time left after I tell ya!

Have a nice weekend all.

Themasterandmargaritas · 27/03/2009 16:42

Hooray MrsJB What great news!

TheGreatScootini · 27/03/2009 17:04
