Oh LaT - I'm sorry I dont know how to help but just for you. When she's ready she'll do it. She is still only young really.
It may just be the floor? She's too scared? Try taking her somewhere with carpets? I dont know what Spain is like but do they have anything like a soft play around you?

Lilly - fruitshoots mcD's How very dare you

Lilyloo · 27/03/2009 22:06

Hmmm Swimming again? Should I? hmmmmmm Might just cheer me up after the stupid hospital I spose but then £4.10 Dont think I can afford that. Hmmmmmm.

BUT GREGGS I'm there!!

JustKeepSwimming · 28/03/2009 06:38

Now i fancy a McD hash brown!

LaT - she will do it all in her own good time. Frustration seems to be a necessary part of development - it spurs them on i think. if you try and 'help' her she will likely get peed off with you as she knows she wants to do it on her own!
(like trying the help them eat when they want to feed themselves!)
the tile floor may be putting her off a bit but it won't once she gets going (though the bruises and bumps may mount up...)

H was so excited when i put some food on his fork for him yesterday and he could 'feed himself' - they are funny aren't they?!

H went to bed absolutely fine thanks G - yes he just loves his sleep - as do i....

T up at 4.20, dh got up, he cried, want mummy , i put him back in bed.
4.40 up again, came in with us for a bit but was chatting so i put him back in bed and said i was getting cross! (i was well pissed off at thinking my day was starting then tbh!!!)
anyway he just got up at 6.30, so that's ok.
H still asleep.
maybe tomorrow we may even get a 7am start

Hoping that H does his normal naps today and sending T & DH out for lots of jobs & activities so i can get on with things (try not to MN too much, lol!) - need to sort some online photo ordering before tomorrow night....

have good weekends all

Gingeme · 28/03/2009 11:16

Morning ladies.
Another 5.30am start today so George and Edward are back in bed now. Pools open till 3.30 so will go after lunch.
I got my mn book today but can't find my quote in it yet. Have read some bits though and its very funny. I got the toddlers one. Wonder if it was the baby one !!
Well thats about it for now.
Have a good weekend all. xxx

simpson · 28/03/2009 12:35

Hi all

I had a night out last night with my old work mates. I have not laughed so much in ages

But no shouting today am feeling a bit delicate

Bought some crafty things to make DS's boiled egg thingie (although DH says he wants to do it with him so may be happy to delegate )

Having a lazy day today as my hang over needs it and DS is tired too

Trip to bottle bank later....DS's favourite thing ATM.

LaTrucha · 28/03/2009 16:23

Hi all - thanks for the chorus. I know she will. I think it's just a cobination of being scared of the tiles and the fact that she always has hands to 'walk' her when she wants to at the moment. She's really throwing herself around with the rolling!

Ok. Then. I have another question. Can any of your LOs get up to a sitting position if they are lying down? SOmeone told me about 6 months ago that Sabela should be able to do this but she has never even thought about trying it.

Sorry, don't mean to turn this into a 'beauty contest'. It's just I've been thinking about it a lot lately.

She is beginning to move in ways she hasn't before, but they are so odd I can't really describe them. She does a lot of sliding up and down various parts of my body!

JustKeepSwimming · 28/03/2009 17:15

G - you are so lucky that both G & E will nap at the same time
Did you go swimming? well done, i don't have the energy!

hey Simps
would love to delegate craft stuff sometimes to DH but he's not that good! i would have to interfere so best to just do it anyway.
LOL at the bottle bank being an activity - sure ds1 would love it too!

LaT - 1st thing, stop worrying ok!?!
H can get up from lying down now but it took him ages. he also didn't roll for ages pat the 'normal' point for rolling. he's now standing on his own for long periods of time but won't walk, always drops down to crawl.
I'm lazy so don't want to always be there as a pair of hands (friend who panders terribly to her dd1 is now going through this again with dd2, does terrible things to your back!), but will walk holding one hand and H is good at this now.

Also just thinking about it more, H has to roll over onto stomach, then get on all fours, then climb up to standing on something/or sit. is this what you mean?
cos i can't imagine they could easily sit up straight from lying down? i can't but my stomach muscles are shot, lol. (at least i don't think i can, may try later when i feel more energetic)

as long as she is learning new things all the time she is fine. she will eventually put different moves together into different moves. I often find with both boys that they 'plateau' for a bit, then learn loads of different things all at once. is she on a plateau or on a surge of new things?

Have being doing lots today, DH been working, we made it to barbers and all 3 boys had their hair done - H's first time, not a fan
doing easy tinned pasta on toast for tea and all knackered!

simpson · 28/03/2009 18:18

Hi all

Feeling a bit better now

LaT - do you mean straight from lying on back or rolling first?? DD kind of gets on to her side then manages to sit up. But TBH think she has only been doing it for a few weeks...

M now desperate to practice her new trick of standing and wants to do it everywhere

Earlier she pulled herself to standing and helped herself to J's lunch luckily just ate the raisins!!

She pulls herself up standing against the large toy box J has in his room then proceeds to empty the whole thing!!

JKS - Awww on the hair cuts especially H's fitst one!!

DD has also been wheat free for 3 days now and there definately seems to be a difference but am totally racking my brains with what to feed her...

JustKeepSwimming · 28/03/2009 18:25

Oat stuff?
Rice bread type things?

Dunno really - what about looking on that site where you got the rice pudding from (was it rice pudding?)?

simpson · 28/03/2009 18:37

JKs - have had a look and will order some stuff but it is so pricey!!

Got her some wheat free pasta so she will have that for tea tomorrow.

I just want something easy from the freezer iyswim ie fish fingers etc for the days when I can't be bothered to cook

JustKeepSwimming · 28/03/2009 19:34

Oh i know that feeling well!!!
fish fingers come out at least once a week here - and that's just for the dcs! i love them too, esp a sandwich with ketchup, yum

DH went and got a curry which was yummy but prob not great for diet, but hey i can't be boring all the time!

Boys went to be beautifully, so much easier when DH is here.

G - hope your boys go to bed ok tonight and sleep later in the morning for you!

Remember everyone clocks go forward tonight

Lilyloo · 28/03/2009 19:51

Evening all
JKS bet you so glad for a relatively normal start for the day tom!!

Simps do you not get any help towards paying for dd's food? Is it worth looking into ?

Well we went swimming today and M loved it. We travelled a bit further to a pool with slides , jacuzzi and wave machine!
H was off with dp on all slides , it is so much easier when they can swim!
Me , L and M spent most of time in jacuzzi it was really warm
M loved it , she had pair of armbands on and was jumping into the water and not even bothered about it going in her face etc!
The other two were never really water babies so will have to do it more.
The getting changed afterwars is a logistical nightmare though!

H and L sat engrossed in Primeval with popcorn! M was in bed at 6.30 abs shattered!

LaT M can sit up from lying down but sort of crawls up on to her knees first i think!

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 28/03/2009 19:54

Lily - please GOD we reach 7am.......
all the swimming sounds fab! we must make more effort to take the boys but i agree the getting changed bit is no fun.

Simps - i meant to say that about the money side of things. following on from Madmouse's DLA is there any kind of benefit for food allergies?
though you might need to get Pead on side....

simpson · 28/03/2009 20:04

I must take Dcs swimming as DS loves it and DD has only been one

Don't think I would get any money as technically DD has intolerances rather than allergies iyswim which means no financial help but more chance of her growing out of it

I have to decide really whether to keep DD off wheat (Is it a co-incidence she stood 2 days after not having any?)

or put her back on it as I don't think she had tummy ache etc like with the milk/soya so she doesn't lose out on nutrients and so she can eat more variety and its just me that is getting pissed off with changing the nappies, doesn't bother her too much unless bum very sore...

JustKeepSwimming · 28/03/2009 20:06

In fact Simps - i have a friend who (shall we say) would know the answer to the financial side of things question.

What we would need to do is come up with a formal 'question' and she can find out the answer.

Something like:
'Are parents of children with food allergies/limited diet entitled to any financial assistance when it comes to purchasing 'safe' foods for their children in a market where these foods are significantly more expensive than 'normal/unsafe' foods form the average supermarket?'

Can anyone improve on that???

JustKeepSwimming · 28/03/2009 20:07

How are the teeth atm?

If teeth seem calm, maybe reintroduce wheat from Monday? and keep the food diary going.
add a 'nappy diary'

simpson · 28/03/2009 20:14

Somebody in the allergy bit of MN said it might be a secondary intolerance ie not so serious so maybe I could just limit how much wheat she has ie no bread but fish fingers/chicken nuggets/pasta once a week or so

simpson · 28/03/2009 20:15

Forgot to say still 3 teeth

Bad mummy keeps forgetting to brush them before her bedtime

JustKeepSwimming · 28/03/2009 20:16

Oh so do i!!!

and with the 2 DCs you'd think we would remember!

simpson · 28/03/2009 20:21

M has also been having her first proper temper tantrums today.

Is quite funny to watch
I know I shouldn't laugh

She pulled herself to standing and emptied DS's toy box and got really cross when she couldn't reach the toys at the bottom

JustKeepSwimming · 28/03/2009 20:24

That's sooo funny

H has started stropping too. if T takes something away, or even comes too close sometimes, he looks at me and wails!!
i just laugh and say 'you're fine....'
