Got a couple of questions I need your ideas on please ladies.

1 - I think we need a new car as this one may get through an MOT but if it doesn't it'll be a huge job as its the clutch being very noisy. Had the same noise on my last car and they said the only way to fix it would be to replace the gear box. EXPENSIVE
I want to get one this year but DP wants to get one next year as we're having the holiday this year and can't really afford it so i've said why dont we sell mine while its still got some tax and MOT (should get about £500 for it) and then buy a newer car with less mileage etc now instead of waiting with fingers crossed that it goes through the MOT.
Now in all fairness if it does go through then it'll save us some money but if it doesn't weve technically lost out on £500 if ya get me.

2 - If we were to get a new car (bearing in mind we'll be having another baby soon) what would you suggest? I want a vauxhall zafira but am willing to listen to other suggestions.

Thanks

Oh and lily am super broody

Lilyloo · 14/03/2009 22:07

Lucky tough one and me being super expert on crap cars at the mo
If you being reccomended to get rid i would imho!
No idea on Zafira but if i was getting a new car for no2 i would get one with 3 actual seats (no idea if zafira does)
Ask about zafiras on here i did with my touran and got loads of positive feedback on here!

But Lucky why am i broody [hhm] Gingeme where are you

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 14/03/2009 22:10

I'm not being reccomended to get rid, I just recognise the noise. It got through the MOT last time with the noise but its louder now so am a little more about it.
Could you be broody cos M isn't so little anymore?

simpson · 14/03/2009 22:20

Lilyloo - read that thread yesterday and the bit about having to uncurl them to change nappy made me go awwww.

Lilyloo · 14/03/2009 22:43

yep Lucky that would def be it!!
Simps sooo cute !!! Do you think being broody ever goes ?Gingeme says yes ?

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 14/03/2009 22:51

Nope broody goes NOWHERE in my head. I want at least 4 but DP says 2 is our limit so I think I should be able to persuade for 3 then we're meeting in the middle

Lilyloo · 14/03/2009 22:55

He is so so cute but I didn't feel 'ah I'd love another one'. I went to mothercare world today too to get Edward some 2-3 year vests and saw all the pregnant and new borns no broodiness.
Sorry ladies

Gingeme · 14/03/2009 23:07

Envy me why ?

Gingeme · 14/03/2009 23:13

Well ladies I'm off to bed. No doubt another early satrt tommorrow and trying to keep everyone entertained.
Sleep well xxx

LuckySalem · 14/03/2009 23:14

Wow Ginge that is a BIG gang
Just cos I'd love to have a huge family and I know I won't get one.

LuckySalem · 14/03/2009 23:34

you've all gotta listen to this song someone's linked it on another thread and I listened to it and sprouted tears from nowhere. Its called in my daughter's eyes.

JustKeepSwimming · 15/03/2009 06:36

Morning

6am start here (well 5.55 but i'm being generous!). H was up in the night twice crying
first time he went back to sleep on his own, second time DH got up and gave him some water, he guzzled loads, then signed sleep and went back to bed.
why is he getting so thirsty in the middle of the night? no calpol of any sort last night as i felt they are both over the cough that was waking them.
so it's just thirst?
is he too hot i wonder, he wears a sleepsuit & a sleeping bag. he has a blanket in bed with him but tends to end up sleeping on it rather than under it. what are yours wearing in bed now? maybe time to ditch the sleeping bag and see what happens.

G - great pic of all 7, fab i'm actually glad to hear that you can get over broodyiness - see myself with hundreds of kids otherwise!! i really would like to have the 4 i've always planned but i am considering stopping at 3 as life is hard when dh is away so much. will see...
In mothercare yesterday i was definitely broody!
actually wanted to be back at those days of 1st pg wandering around with not a clue what we would need!!

Lucky - well maybe see if it gets through the MOT first, you could lose out on the 500 but it might not be that bad? we have a scenic which is good, don't know anything about zafiras sorry.

Lily - does M have big feet or H small? think if you're properly broody there's only one cure.....

Simps - you ok? calpol night has added antihistamine that causes drowsiness so it helps them sleep better. say they have a cough but it doesn't hurt so much as just disturb their sleep, calpol night is v handy.
Anyway it used to be safe for 1+ i think, then it changed to 2+ now it's 6+ and the pharmacist in Asda told me it will probably change to 12+
i mean either it was safe or it wasn't. i feel torn between feeling bad about giving my dcs something unsuitable for them and feeling mad about stupid nanny state rules.

Supposedly it only changed to over 2's because some parents were overdosing their kids because it makes them sleep so they were giving it to them when they didn't need it iykwim? makes me mad as i'm so careful with doses.

will ask my brother's gf as she's a pharmacist and see what she says.
when dh went into our local chemist they let him buy it and they know how old out boys are.

sorry long post!

madmouse · 15/03/2009 08:44

ooooh no!

Nathan had a temperature last night.

And was a bit warm this morning and screaming with pain/upset over breakfast until he had ibuprofen, now he has eaten half and is knawing a bread crust. Snot everywhere.

Please tell me it is teething.
Please

Cos I have reached the end of my tether. Dh says i am being silly. But I am getting to the point of wanting to walk out and not come back for a few weeks

madmouse · 15/03/2009 09:47

sorry for that outburst

Am overreacting

Just have enough that is all.

He is happy as larry now, had great fun stealing my towels and rolling away with them while i had a shower and is currently emptying his toy box.

JKS glad you had a good-ish night. Maybe H has a bit of a blocked nose and is breathing through his mouth (I think they can do that now) - making his throat very dry.

Gingeme · 15/03/2009 10:39

Morning ladies.
Yes madmouse I feel exactly like that some days I can tell you. George is just a total snot pot at the mo too but I can see the tip of his upper canine so I do give him Medised at night before he goes to bed. Is the same as Calpol Night realy. Has antihistamine in and makes him drousy but does a good job of drying the snot.
He slept through last night again gonna have a little shifty round in the boys room to accomodate the cot tommorrow
JKS two of my auntys have 9 kids (well adults now) and my Mum actualy asked if I was going to have that many at one point. I did lose a baby before David so had that pregnancy survived I would have 6 children .
How are things with you today Simpson? A bit more positive I hope.
We were off to the park soon. Well not all of us. DH and his son are going to play a round of golf with his eldest son soon so just my boys. David wants to take his bike. He's been inspired to ride it without the stabilisers by Peppa Pig wish me luck

AngeChica · 15/03/2009 11:20

I think it is teething Madm. Alek gets this every time. Runs a temp and runny nose. Calprofen really helps. We also had some calpol night but DH went to Asda and they won't sell it for under-6's now!

more later.

LaTrucha · 15/03/2009 11:37

LOL - MAdmouse. It might be US who were separsted at birth, not our LOs. I was feeling exactly the same this morning - although for different reasons.

Gingeme - God! I'd LOVE a brood like that. You lucky thing!

Lucky - broody here too, as you know. I'd love a load too but think we can only stretch to three. Would think of fostering later on.

JKS - HAha beat you - up at 5am most mornings

Lilyloo - Go on, have another one!

Sabela was super cute this morning and actually almost got me out of my foul mood - pretty much permanent at the moment. At least she got me to the point whee I can just look at myself and think - 'you're in a bad mood old fish'

Anyway! Lying in bed, early morning. Sabela playing with my jelly tummy. She likes to poke and squidge it.She Decided to put her head down on it, bent forward. I was stroking her hair and she stayed like that for ages, and that was enough, until my tummy did a rumble, she looked at me as if to say 'What on earth was THAT!' And well, Sabela has a new game now! Her head was up and down, like nobody's business, looking for noises!

Got to run, we're going for lunch in the sunshine at the edge of the Mediterranean sea!

simpson · 15/03/2009 12:06

Hi all

Going to my mum's today for Sunday dinner

Even nicer when I don't have to cook it

Weather lovely here so DS playing outside...

Back later....

Gingeme · 15/03/2009 12:10

Aw LaT thats so sweet Why the fowl mood though? Sorry silly question
I think George has someone elses feet on today. He was just sitting on his little chair having a hot cross bun and he slipped back and banged his head on the floor then a bit later he fell forward and managed to catch his chin on the little table resulting in a bitten tongue two spoons of Calpol and he is asleep now. Poor love.
Yes they all like to poke and squidge my jelly belly too. They also seem to find me funny when I am just in my undies. They all point and laugh . Does wonders for my self image !!

LaTrucha · 15/03/2009 18:58

Umm - good question Gingeme- this chemical pregnancy - which it seems to have been and now waitng for the AF - has got me down, but really only because it's come on top of mum's death / brother nearly killing himself / Dad's operation and not being in my own house and my MIL seeming to be in a permenantly bad mood at the moment.

It's not the straw that broke the camel's back because I'm not broken - I don't feel that bad. But it is QUITE ENOUGH thankyou very much.

Oh! and by the way PLEASE hold me to this, ladies. I am never going to do a pg test again until I'm 5 days overdue. Just not worth the stress.

LaTrucha · 15/03/2009 18:58

Am quite at times, honest!
