Lilyloo - I think you are right (PFB maybe? ) Teachers do seem very approachable which is good.

Apparently they do do more play orientated stuff in the afternoon...

Lucky - will go and stuff myself with 100s donuts and see what happens!!

Uh oh Molly awake again, most unlike her

LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 22:53

Can I ask your opinions on something.

DP's mums pub is holding a charity event on Friday night where Dp's bro is shaving his hair (think my length of hair) but it doesn't start till 8pm do you think that's gonna be too late for DD? I'm gonna have to leave at around 8:30 anyway to be back for DP to have car and she'll prob fall asleep in the car on the way back but what do you think?

Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 22:55

Lucky she does go to bed at 9 doesn't she ??
If you will be back for then i don't see wny not.
I wouldn't for M as she is in bed for 6.30 -7

Simps that was my thoughts exactly. Apparently I'm obese already so shouldn't take long to make myself morbidly obese to get some more money out of the government

simpson · 07/03/2009 22:58

I wouldn't for Molly either as she doesn't sleep in buggy and goes to bed at 6ish but A can last till 9 so I would go for it!!

If she does fall asleep in car on way back it may delay her bedtime for a bit as I have noticed if we are back later than normal DD likes to "play" Its like she is telling herself she is home again iyswim.

simpson · 07/03/2009 22:59

M back asleep again, was sobbing in her sleep... God knows what she was dreaming of

LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 23:00

She's normally in bed for 8pm but sometimes (like tonight) its later. She'll prob fall asleep in the car anyways so was thinking of taking her PJ's and then just transferring her from car to bed.

Not entirely sure i'll do it yet as I'm a little annoyed with his family. lol but just wondered whether you thought it was a bad idea.

simpson · 07/03/2009 23:02

No I think it will be ok as a one off as sometimes she can last longer...

Can you try and get a later daytime nap into her??

Not always easy I know!!

LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 23:03

She'll prob sleep on the way there anyway so that'll be a little extra sleep for her.

Ok so if we do go it won't be the end of the world. I'll have a think.

simpson · 07/03/2009 23:07

TBH sometimes I wish DD would stay up a bit later so we could eat out in the evening as a family etc...

DS was exactly the same and i remember the stress of trying to push his bedtime back from 6.15pm to 7pm because a witch HV told me to.

If I had known better, I would have told her to stick it!!

LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 23:09

I ignore alot of the HVs advice.
Like on Tues I asked how best to stop DD's tantrums and all she said was they aren't tantrums at this age so dont worry about it. hmmmm. Yeh thanks for that.

simpson · 07/03/2009 23:15

I wish I had known about MN when I had DS TBH.

I am with you on the tantrums thing Molly definitely has tantrums, and the latest is not being allowed the TV remote (she buggered it up last time)

She has also now refused to drink water from a cup with handles as DS doesn't so will only drink water from a cup with spout and no handles

Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 23:18

LOL don't you just love HV

I'm old enough to know better....hungover today and feeling really rough
combo of hangover+cold+lack of sleep = not great!

going to go back to bed when H does in a minute and DH taking T out for a bit.

so silly.

Simps - have you considered deferring J's school start to next year?

Lily - good news about L

Lucky - as A gets older you'll find that you get older toys for her and she plays with the younger things less so you can put them away. when you have number 2 though and get them out again she'll play with them again! and then you have 2 sets of toys out!

urgh, feel yuck. hope H gets tired soon. giving him a treat of Night Garden while T plays with his toys in the other room

mixedmamameansbusiness · 08/03/2009 11:46

Hello all,

Had so much to say in repsonse to you all and now cant remember very much.

On the schools thing.. I agree that play time they have now is important. OTOH I am a big reader and DH (and allhis familY) have the attitude of reading being boring and laugh at me for reading (well not Dh so much anymor) so I do spend a lot of time trying to make sure the DC look at books. I also want to send them to school with a few french phrases as the schools I (hope) to get them into do french from primary and I want them to enjoy it and have a (perhaps warped) theory that if they already have key words they will feel more confident and more likely to continue, maybe they will hate languages but it is something I really want to encourage.

So proud of DS1 today he got one his books out and told me he wanted to read it himself (of course he cant actually read)he sat and "read" every page.. there is a lot of repitition and he had memorised it, he even asked me to turn off the TV cos he wanted to read.

AngeChica · 08/03/2009 13:33

Ladies, I have been to buy some new running shoes (old ones got consigned to the bin as I ended up using them to do the gardening in) and have started a support thread on teh weight loss club pages, if anyone cares to join? Madmouse & anyone else who is running. Only concern is CS when DS was napping yesterday DH and I shot out and filled the skip and my scar hurt for about an hour afterwards does anyone else still have this?

Oh JKS how's your hangover? I won't shout Only advice for friends with DC with builders in is to stay out of the house as much as poss and chill out if you can about them getting dusty feet etc

feel a bit haunted re the PG friend still although it is not a close friend, I think she is going to be brave too and carry to term despite the expected outcome, as already 6 months on.

well DS been snotty, off food and out of sorts all weekend. I think teething combined with jabs, and he clearly had a sore leg yesterday.

simpson · 08/03/2009 14:10

JKS - hope you are feeling a bit better now...

Was all ready to go out here (been waiting all morning as DD been sleeping) and now the heavens have opened

About 30 mins ago it was lovely and sunny here

Am tired just reading about all these people doing exercise!!

JustKeepSwimming · 08/03/2009 15:29

Mixedm - agree with you re books, my family are BIG readers, DH's not so much. Luckily DH & I agree that books & reading are v important so think my family trait will win

Ange - not sure my friend will be able to chill about the builders tbh. her standards are higher than mine
Think i would want to continue with the pg too, go through labour and meet my baby properly. all v sad though
my scar doesn't hurt anymore but it does sometimes itch. think it's where it;s still healing bit by bit.
a while back i turned over awkwardly in bed and it did 'pull' a bit so maybe similar?

Simpson - i'm recovering thanks! shouldn't have drunk so much, talked so much, probably made a slight t*t of myself. all with DH sober as he's on a non-drinking thing. ho hum.

same here, was sunny, finally got us out in the garden, started hailing

LaTrucha · 08/03/2009 15:32

Ange - my scar still hurts at times. And always when I poke it,wondering if it still hurts! I've been to the doctors twice - once a gynaecologist and they assure me everything is fine. Apparently, c-sec scars, as they have so many layers, get things called adhesions, where the layers catch on each other and this is what hurts. And anyway, I know from another scar I ahve that it took a year and more to heal.

I'm going to post this and try and read the rest but might not be able to as DH looking after DD and already been there two hours! I'm not very well today aith a pain in my chest. Have been asleep. Being a bit naaughty doing this.

LuckySalem · 08/03/2009 15:58

Ange - My scar still hurts at times but it is getting better. I agree that it is normally when I've overexerted myself.

I've been trying to be so good and put the washing out on the line but whereas I used to get 4 loads of washing washed and dried in a day I've only managed to get 2 loads done in a week cos of the weather. Getting fed up now. lol

LuckySalem · 08/03/2009 20:42

Gosh its been quiet on here today.

Well Dd went to bed at 7pm (she cut out her afternoon nap for the day)

Also had a mini break through today She's not been eating alot lately we've had to let her graze through the day to make sure she had enough to sustain her (weighed her this morning and she's gone down to 19lbs ) so we tried a different technique today. She had a banana and bottle for breakfast (ate all that) then we had chicken nuggets (2) and some chips for lunch instead of a butty at 1pm instead of 3pm. Then dinner of meatballs and pasta at 5pm all eaten all gone
I dont think this will work if she wants her afternoon nap back though.

Going to go to the library tomorrow I think as DP is off for 4 days this week (although he's got his "test" for promotion on Tuesday)

simpson · 08/03/2009 21:15

Wow Lucky - Molly weighs more

Molly didn't eat much tea either but its very hard to know how much actually goes in her mouth iyswim. I founds loads of peas in her nappy when I changed her for bed

Am dreading tomorrow as have smear test

My mum is picking up DS from school for me...

LuckySalem · 08/03/2009 21:17

Simps thats based on my scales upstairs I'm hoping that they're wrong so am going to get her weighed on Thursday (hopefully if the HV can be bothered to turn up rather than go to crufts )

DD does that with the nappy!! LMAO

simpson · 08/03/2009 21:30

LOL at HV going to crufts instead of work

Still not used to DD feeding herself TBH guess I have to learn to hand over the power to her!!

She did let me spoon feed her a chocolate mousse though!! Calling it "fruit pot" the whole time

Yesterdays meal was a classic, pasta dripping off her hair and everything, luckily I took your advice and fed her in just nappy then straight in bath

LuckySalem · 08/03/2009 21:31

See see it works!! DD had meatballs today and they went everywhere but was prepared and in the bath she went!! haha

Right I'm off to bed hope I've got more to read tomorrow from you lot
