Must be a rather exuberant debate M going from crying to whimpering to mumbling still!!!

Nathan's gone quiet - that's what men do when the ladies chat

Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 21:48

think he may have called an end to it

Oh and forgot to say L got into my first school choice today which is big relief as it was very oversubscribed and we on the edge of catchment area!!

A is asleep (not till 9pm though) am knackered today.
I seem to be tired ALOT lately.. Slept from 11:30 till 8:30 last night and even another hour this afternoon yet I still feel tired [yawn]

FINALLY sent off A's passport today Man behind the counter said to ring them if not back in 2 weeks as thats what the PO check and send thing is meant to guarantee (even though the form says they "aim" for 2 weeks)

A's been drawing on the yard in chalk today - well on Mum's yard and she pooped on their carpet. LMAO. I told them she was gonna poop but would they put the nappy back on? NOOOO! lol

LaT - I'm agreeing with everyone else and saying it sounds like a pregnancy to me but will keep quiet for a little while longer.

Have definatly decided that I can't afford to go see Jacko. Have been trying to work out where I can beg/borrow/steal the money for the £75 ticket as will be able to afford in July but I want to have a good holiday so am not borrowing money from anyone and am not taking it from that.
I'm a little upset about it but at the same time I thought years ago that he was never gonna tour again so I've kinda made peace with it.

Going to the carboot tomorrow - have no idea why other than to pass some time as I can't think of anything I actually need.

simpson · 07/03/2009 21:55

Yep, Molly gone quiet

Lilyloo - when does L start school, in Sept?? So does J he will be the youngest in class

Congrats on school place BTW J got his acceptance letter 2wks ago...

LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 21:56

Glad to hear that Lilly

Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 21:58

Lucky beware you end up spending loads on things you don't need

Are you pg ?? The first sign with me for all 3 was being v tired ?

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 22:00

No am on the dreaded monthlies at the mo so not preg Never mind I knew I wasn't going to be this month. Maybe I'm sleeping too much. lol

Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 22:04

yeah she starts this Sept she def ready though as she has Jan birthday.
Actually getting sucked in reluctantly to the things she can / can't do before school looking at these other threads here.

Ironically ds was a younger one (April) and he couldn't write name etc when he went and is the top of his class now.
Still doesn't make me stop worrying about dd even though she can write her name and colour much better than ds who could never be bothered.
Why is that ???
Although some of these 'my dc can write essays and read whole Harry Potter books alone' threads on here raise the insecurities!

OP posts:
Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 22:06

Lucky !!!

I didn't realise that annoying dancing , singing kids thread was the cbeebies one everyone was moaning about

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 22:08

I've never noticed the advert to be honest. lol.

Lily - Ignore all the other threads and concentrate on what he can do. If there are things that your overly worried about then spend as much time as you both can on helping him do that but tbh he's not going to lose out if he can't write his own name.

simpson · 07/03/2009 22:11

Those annoying dancing children p**s me off!!

Complaint to MNHQ I think

Lilyloo - So will L and J be in same yr?? J only at pre school now 2.5hrs per day.

He had parents evening last wk and they don't expect them reading or writing for when they start...

Just to do practical things ie feed themselves, open lunch box, clothes off/on for PE etc...

Lucky - who got the horrid poo clean up job??

Ds went through a phase of pooing in the bath which was pretty horrid!!

LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 22:13

Dad had to clean the floor and I made mum clean A cos they insisted on leaving her without a nappy.

I'm thinking I may try to find a better way of storing her toys (at the carboot tomorrow) as at the moment the WHOLE corner of our room is full of toys - hang on I'll upload a pic and you can see what I mean.

simpson · 07/03/2009 22:16

I know I shouldn't but LOL at your parents!!

Molly was out of a nappy for about 30 seconds this evening before bath and weeed all over carpet on landing!!

Waiting for pic....

Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 22:18

yeah they will both be in reception in Sept.

She only at pre school now in the mornings.

Lucky it was H who was never interested before school.
I am still shocked at how much he learnt in the first year of school.

DD L is much more keen and able than H was.
I am trying not to encourage any of the reading herself etc for the time being. I just think the time they get to play and have fun rather than working at school is all too short.
Still find it hard though ....

OP posts:
simpson · 07/03/2009 22:23

Lilyloo - that is exactly how I feel...

J does love his books though and likes to read flashcards with me.

He can read about 5 words mummy, daddy etc but nowhere near ready to write and TBH would rather leave it to experts as am sure I would teach it wrong

My only worry with J is he will be the youngest in class and gets very tired ATM with just half days so don't know how he will cope with that.

But I guess he will have to!!

If he was one day younger he wouldn't start school until a yr later

LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 22:26

Lily - In all honesty she's probably picking up way more things now in being able to play than she will in school anyway. I honestly think that although school taught me alot of things I've learnt much more through "life"

Right here's the pics and you'll see what I mean - Bear in mind that all 4 boxes that you can see are FULL to the brim.

  • ignore the cat who ADORES aaliyah and her toys (Still needs a home by the way)
another another
Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 22:27

Two of H and L friends on our street are both Aug 31st babys.
I still think they should have retained the two term entry system for this reason.

There is a world of difference between a nearly 5 year old and a nearly 4 year old imo!

I honestly believe that H had a love of reading from a very early age has really helped him get to grips with his literacy.
Luckily he has quite a numerical mind unlike his mum

Not sure about L but she just really loves writing , drawing etc as girls do!

OP posts:
Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 22:31

wow doubt you will find anything to hold that ball
Other than the walker , trolley , leap frog table etc you could put the rest in a big toy box.
We have a leather one with a lid that sits in the window.
However ds has a cheap wooden one that we painted in his room.

OP posts:
simpson · 07/03/2009 22:33

J likes books and according to teacher on Tuesday very numerical too.

Again don't know where he gets it from.

My concern is that if I feel he is too tired to go to school when he starts f/t I will just keep him off TBH then you get the letters about attendance dropping below 95%

All the kids in pre school start off in bronze group when they start then progress to silver & gold as they get older etc DS won't even get to be in gold as he will be starting school f/t before then

Lucky - and I thought my Dcs had a lot of toys!!

Only clicked on the frigging dancing kids...again!! Grrr...

LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 22:35

Can you not have words with the school about him being tired - I personally think its ridiculous to expect a nearly 4 year old to keep their attention for the amount of time they are expected to.

I'm not so worried about the bigger things (although they are taking up ALOT of space) I just want my table back!! lol

simpson · 07/03/2009 22:42

Lucky - do you have a loft to put stuff in for when A out grows walker etc?

Then you can keep it for next LO.

Spoke to teacher on tuesday who wants to be kept updated and we will assess nearer the time. He will deffo start reception in Sept but I want him to start maybe 2 full days at first then progress iyswim.

Lilyloo - I agree, one of J's friends was 4 in Nov and they will be in the same year but he is closer in age to other friends born Oct/Nov time who will be a yr behind.

But I guess they have to draw the line somewhere...

LuckySalem · 07/03/2009 22:45

Yeh thing is she still plays with her walkers at the mo. lol and i've seen kids in silly barts (soft play) of 2/3 playing with the walkers so i'm not sure if she will EVER grow out of it!! LMAO.

Read something in the paper today (completely off topic) that obese people can get disability allowance? WTF?

Lilyloo · 07/03/2009 22:47

Simps at our school they did stagger the start dates with the younger ones starting first in a group of 6 for a week and so on.
Reception is very much play orientated.
DS always fell asleep in the car on the way home.

However i think there is so much stimulation they don't stop for rest at school.

He will likely surprise you am sure.
