I want a plastic one. Been trying to get one off freecycle or a cheap one off ebay but not working yet (dont really have the money but she enjoy the house and the kitchen sooo much)

simpson · 03/03/2009 22:14

How much do you want to spend??

Have got Molly a kitchen (its in attic for Xmas or 2nd birthday) from The Entertainer for £17 unfortunately now gone up to £24 but still a good deal I think

DS's plastic house is in the garden and was from toys r us (for his 2nd birthday)and cost £40 but just checked web site and its now £79 for the same thing

However have just got DS a bike half price on amazon so check there....

This is when we need woolies

barristermum · 03/03/2009 22:58

Ok, I have a work crisis so am not working but on an avoidance mission and in as to how much us ladies still like to chat. Am also feeling small and cosy as weather is just RAGING outside.

JKS - am glad it wasn't just be thinking that msg was weird - I think she must've thought my name was offensive - given they were something like droopEwiener I think pots and kettles but hey-ho.

On presents theme we are thinking of getting Cerys a balance bike for easter as DH off-road motorbike fanatic and loves those cool scoot steel ones but I am SHOCKED at cost. Any thoughts from others?

I hate the mess of eating myself - love the fact nursery deal with it and I get a bit control freakery at home and C and I play tug of war with spoon. Mostly we each have a spoon and compete to see who can get the most food into her. If she feels I'm winning she grabs my spoon too with a fearsome growl.

Nighty night - if others have disturbed nights think of me as you tend to your children - I shall likely be still pouring over skeleton argument.

JustKeepSwimming · 04/03/2009 08:52

Morning - up with ds2 for an hour in the night, eventually he fell asleep in bed with me then i put him back in his cot as i couldn't sleep with him next to me.

Thank goodness DH was here for the 5.55 shift with ds1.

Though he's making noises about staying in London tonight as he has lots of work on...could it be the thought of a solid night's sleep perchance?

right, off to pre-school & PO. then can relax with just H and a cuppa

simpson · 04/03/2009 09:32

Morning all

Dcs didn't wake till 8.30 this morning

Barristermum - we sometimes chat on FB too so even more talking going on

I got DS a balance bike for his 3rd birthday from tescos direct it was £30...but is quite tall though.

Have just got him a raleigh bike for his 4th birthday which is not till Aug but was half price on Amazon so might be worth checking them out.

I still get shocked at how fast DS goes on the balence bike deffo one of the best things we have bought...

Molly has let me spoon feed her porridge (thank God) but drew the line at her fruitapura pot and then fed herself some toast...

LuckySalem · 04/03/2009 10:29

Grrrr. Letter from barclays bank today to say they're charging me £8 for having to return a DD payment DP normally transfers money over for it but because of where the weekend fell this month it's not cleared in time I'm sooo annoyed and I've just looked and the ICS course that they were meant to be cancelling and refunding they're still taking money out of my account for

Sorry to start on such a horrid note but am so annoyed.

madmouse · 04/03/2009 11:01

Lucky use the direct debit guarantee to get the ics money back!

Lilyloo · 04/03/2009 12:41

Lucky bummer i hoping that my switch payment for car yesterday wont come out until tom.
We have a cheque to clear then but went over £18 yesterday so will have £35 charge for that
You should get reimbursed for course money though and any charges incurred because of that.

LOL at all babies not wanting to be spoon fed
Luckily M never really has let me and after our last fight to give her a yoghurt where i ended up with it splatted on my face i have let her do it.
We have many stained clothes though! Am finding tangerine a nightmare at the moment.

We had more snow here this morning

Morning ladies.
Simpson the 11th sounds the best for me. Are you bringing Molly? Do you think the balance bikes are any good? I mean do they learn to ride a bike quicker than all the faff of stabilisers? I can't ride a bike myself but the two things I insist on my boys learning is to ride a bike and learn to swim.
Thankyou LaT for the nappy advice and other bits to take with us. I have now written the names of the Spanish nappies down just in case.
JKS George has now taken to waking at 5.30 he slept through till then, had a bottle then slept for about another hour has done this twice now so if he could go just a little bit longer it will be great.
Edward was back at nursery today after his poorly week. He was so glad to be going and the play leader made such a fuss of him. She is lovely
I have a busy week ahead. Mu Mums coming tommorrow as we have a funeral Friday. She is staying for the weekend. Ladys day planned for Saturday me thinks. Monday DH's son is coming to stay for the week Thursday I have my pamper day then next weekend my big boys are staying. Phew!!
Right lunch time.
See you later ladys xxx

Lilyloo · 04/03/2009 12:55

Gingeme i did post some things to do in Tenerife on here last night.
Just in case you didn't see it given the amount of yakking that goes on here

Gingeme · 04/03/2009 12:58

Yeah I did thanks . We have been before and went to Loro park and the aqua park. We went with our older boys last time (about 8 years ago) so this is going to be a whole new experiance for all of us with three little ones. The place we are staying is right next to the sea too We stayed in Los Gigantes last time and it was gorgeous. Oh I'm so excited...

Lilyloo · 04/03/2009 13:07

When are you going ?

OP posts:
simpson · 04/03/2009 14:41

Hi all

Ok Gingeme I confess was looking at wrong month in calender last night and can't do 11th as DS got hosp appt.

Can do 12th, 23rd or 31st March...sorry!!

Probably won't bring Molly...will see!!

Have just got back from supermarket in the hunt for dairy free pesto (failed mission ) as I read on Aitch's website last night it does exist!!

Although it has cashew nuts in but spoke to dietician this morning and she said to try it...

But I did find some chicken nuggets that Molly can eat so guess what she is having for tea??

And there seems to be no ill effects from boiled egg yesterday which is fab news!!

Must dash Molly trying to climb in washing machine

Gingeme · 04/03/2009 14:48

Lilly 9th - 23rd August all inclusive. The only thing I'm realy worried about is the flight. Trying to keep the boys entertained for 3 hours
George looooooves to climb. Can be scary sometimes. Erm 23rd would be good Simpson!

simpson · 04/03/2009 14:48

Forgot to say lilyloo am getting M weighed on Friday so will let you know.

She was weighed 2/3 wks ago (I forgot which ) and was 18lbs 6oz

countesscaloriecounter · 04/03/2009 15:08

Hi everyone

Quick question

Have all your LO's had the MMR yet? Toby due to have his in a few weeks. The original appointment got cancelled. Were there any side effects to those of you whos LO's have had it. I know I'm being pathetic worrying over probably nothing but you read so much confusing stuff on the subject don't you.

simpson · 04/03/2009 15:40

Gingeme - ok will pencil in 23rd!!

Countess - Molly booked to have MMR at end of the month...

Think Lucky's & Lilyloo's LOs have had it ok.

DS had his 2nd part of MMR (pre school booster) last wk (he is 3) and he was fine but just a bit pale the next day. No fever or anything...

Gingeme · 04/03/2009 16:09

Countess George has got his booster next Tuesday. No side effects realy. Gave him Calpol anyway.
Ok Simpson

mixedmamameansbusiness · 04/03/2009 16:49

countess - DS2 had his first one the other day, compeltely unbothered and didnt bother with any meds in the end as he seemed fine.

GIngeme - I flew 3.5 hrs to Turkey with them both last year and was easier than I imagined it would be. DS1 was quite happy to watch in flight stuff altho we have a portable DVD player so he watched Ice Age. DS2 just slept. I suspect he wont sleep the whole way this year so got to find something to keep him occupied. DS1 did keep dropping things tho, like cars etc which was a pain. If you can get a portable DVD for a reaosnable price it is a life saver.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 04/03/2009 16:50

what was harder was the keeping them occupied whilst at the airport waiting.

madmouse · 04/03/2009 17:24

Hi all

Nathan's eyes are definitely on the mend. But he has a snotty cold now, and a nasty cough, and he is teething. And he has no appetite grrr I do not want to see that tummy disappear again. He is happy enough nibbling cream crackers and rich tea biscuits though, but the crackers make him cough

Heard from A (who came to the meetup) that I should really apply for Disability Living Allowance, which I had been telling myself Nathan did not qualify for, guess a bit of denial there. It is a loooong form where you have to give the same information over and over again to show that Nathan needs more help/supervision than other kids of his age. We will see what they see. Will tackle the rest of the form tonight.

Love all the assertions of independence in the food department. Would love to peer in all your kitchens . Nathan loves broccoli. He was 'helping' me cook yesterday (aka sitting in his bumbo messing with serving trays twice his size ) and when I turned back from the cooker he had managed to lift a whole head of broccoli to his mouth with one hand and was chewing it , so cooked him a few pieces in the microwave. A boy so desperate for his greens needs to be rewarded.

By the way spoke to my 'absconder' today and what he felt unable to tell my colleague (not always the most understanding type) is that his son went into hospital on the anniversary of the death of his first child . Needless to say no disciplinary from me!

countesscaloriecounter · 04/03/2009 18:14

Hey Madmouse

Just a quickie about the Disability Living Allowance. We get that for one of our foster lads. He has epilespy and numerous other health issues. The form is a total pig to do, but worth persevering with. We also got turned down the first time but appealed the decision and now get it. So, if you get an initial letter saying you're not entitled to it, it's worth fighting for. Sometimes I think it might be standard practice for them to turn you down first time in the hope you don't try again!

Thanks everyone who's commmented on the MMR jabs. It's good to know those that have had it have not had any major side effects. thanks.

simpson · 04/03/2009 18:16

Madmouse - good luck with the long forms...

Molly loves broccoli too will eat it before anything else. Can't see her doing that in a years time

Chicken nuggets a big hit

Having lovely Irish stew that DH has cooked for tea going to save some for DD tomorrow.

Her first meat ball with no teeth!!

countesscaloriecounter · 04/03/2009 18:17

Also to add about the DLA Madmouse. I was advised to fill in what the worst day is like, and not try and minimise the issues we have.
I think when you deal with the issues day in day out you don't realise how hard you have to work and the time you have to put in looking after a child with extra needs but you have to look at it from an outsiders point of view, and note it down accordingly in the form.

JustKeepSwimming · 04/03/2009 18:42

Madmouse for the bloke at work. what an awful day he must have had.
Definitely apply for DLA. My mum post-cancer treatment was told to apply for various things, some of which she gets now and felt all guilty about it but the nurses told her she was entitled to them and the money is hers so not to feel bad.
From what i've heard the DLA form is awful though, and depresses whoever fills it in

good day here, friends came over this afternoon and one stayed for tea - well her DD had tea. they've been over lots recently as her DH works odd hours away in London too & she has a second DD a bit younger than H so have lots in common.
her 2 are terrible sleepers so we compare notes about how little sleep we've had!

Dh coming home later, should think about something for dinner really....he's the cook normally.

nearly bedtime.....
