Tis 2 hours after waking here too, and I missed it this morning and boy does he scream, if I miss it.
I have to put a bit of the muslin in his mouth and he falls asleep like that.(like a little dog)

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 24/02/2009 21:13

I offer water too from a doidy cup, and some of his bf are very very short, so he is either very efficient as I do feel let down,or he is just quenching his thirst too. IYKWIM

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 24/02/2009 21:14

I expect him to drop his 11.30 ish bf as dd did.

god I am rambling tonight.

have toothache again, definately not a passing ache so am going to have to phone dentist and make an appt

all 3 girls asleep, DD1 did her Rainbow promise tonight and I missed it by seconds - she was facing the front though so am not sure she noticed I wasn't there and I've managed to get photos of her holding her certificate sitting under their rainbow - definately no FPG award for me tonight

DH on late shift, the only room I've manage to do prior to PIL visit is the girls room but then there is always tomorrow

had a bit of a blow to the old 'getting away from my horrendous job' scheme today so feeling a bit low and think rather than consume my body weight in chocolate I'll just go to bed!

CC - Sorry you're having a tough time at the moment. Your boys are so, so gorgeous though. And so like one another (think I may have said that before )

Ann - I'd second what others have said. We faced the same thing with DD1 and started by getting her up at 8am every day and then having a cast-iron bedtime routine that we pulled earlier by 15 mins every few days. Did it over the course of about 6 weeks iirc. She was younger though, so you maybe able to do it faster?

pf- you've probably got what you need now, but here's how our days usually pan out.

8 - bf
9 - brekkie: porridge/toast/banana (the latter 2 are if I have stuff I need to get on with as. Toast crusts = 40 mins )
9.30-11.30 sleep (this is if we're at home. If out and about she will be grumpy but somehow stay awake until we're home. On Monday she managed until 2 before going down again )
12 - bf or puree, depending on where we are
1.30 - bf or puree - whichever one she didn't have earlier
Somewhere in this bit there's usually a 20ish catnap in carseat/buggy
4ish - small bf
5 - puree
6- small bf
7.30 - full bottle of formula

poppysocks · 24/02/2009 21:38

Sorry Dizzy - x-posted there. about the tooth and your cunning plan. Hope the dentist at least can sort out some of the problems .

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 24/02/2009 21:38

No1 - DD sleep with a muzzy corner in her mouth - when she was little we had to tie a knot in it so she didn't stick too much in and choke herself.

Dizzy - sorry about tooth - please get it sorted before it turns nasty. What's up with work?

Ann - I was going to suggest similar to Sazzles, move bedtime 30 mins ofrward every 2/3 nights carrying on the same routine every night. Wake as close as possible after 12 hours (no letting him sleep because he looks sweet, you fancy a shower etc..)

dizzydixies · 24/02/2009 21:40

poppy, how did today go with DD1?
thank you Sazz, chuck in a packet of pork scratchings for good measure

No1 its all really very boring tbh

oh oh, have bought a new cake book its receipes from the Hummingbird Bakery in London and I cannot wait to try some of them out - they look gorgeous! all successful ventures shall be posted on here of course

sambo303triesforScotland · 24/02/2009 21:49

hello ladies, have missed you all

ts congrats on being 38, it's a great age

cc re your dsis..my ex was also an alcoholic, and I was fortunate I could divorce him - family members must be so much worse. Hope work goes quickly well for you tomorrow. ps O is very handsome

dizzy I missed your photo!!!

ataraxis lovely pic of your beautiful dcs

cant remember much else as skimmed quickly, hope all are OK

Trip up north was good, was lovely to show off ds - he has got so much more gorgeous suddenly, doing so much more, he's a little boy now, sitting up and gagging chomping on toast. Nights have improved (touch wood) - last night was typical with a bf at 9pm then 1.30am then 5.50am. Still feel tired though.

Took ds to his first rhyme time today, he was puzzled

dizzydixies · 24/02/2009 21:51

sambo you didn't miss much am sure by next week he'll love rhyme time, Dylan comes to DD2's music class on a thurs morning and she squeals with delight now

glad you had a nice time

hotterpotter · 24/02/2009 21:51

CC nothing really more to add but just so you know you and your sis are in my thoughts My sis is a bit of a liability and a part-time drunkard, so I can imagine a bit how you must be feeling .

Oh you are all so organised with your routines . The only thing we have set is bedtime at around 7.45-8, depending on how much DD arses about. On a good day we have three naps - short long then short again, but he can have 4 if earlier ones go wrong. Am still BFing to sleep at nap time unless he falls asleep in the pram, and offer food when we're eating. Have given up trying to spoon feed him so it turns out we're BLW all the way

Dizzy poor you having toothache , at least they will be able to treat whatever is up with it. While pg I lost a filling, had to have it replaced three times and was in agony several times with toothache worse than any labour pains I've ever experienced. Dentist said she'd crown it once DS was born. Of course, once he was born and she x-rayed it, there wasn't actually enough tooth left to crown so out it had to come . Still, the relief of knowing it won't hurt anymore is fantastic.

Sazzles of your night out. Have only ever left DS with DH and no plans to change that in the near future. I think we've only been out two or three times since DD was born (Nov 2005 ) but we do drink at home, just us or with friends

hotterpotter · 24/02/2009 21:53

Hey welcome back Sambo

TwilightSurfer · 24/02/2009 22:00

Sambo you sound very relaxed. I glad you had a nice trip.

I think I am in full PMS mode. I've opened about back of nacho chips and a jar of salsa. I think this will be my dinner. I'm sure there's chocolate around here too.

DD1 & Reese are plopped in front of the tv listening to a dvd my dad made. He sent her a book for her birthday but before sending it he videoed himself reading it. Neat huh!

Slattern me???

cyteen · 24/02/2009 22:11

CC that's brilliant that O took the bottle - clever as well as handsome, I see! You're right, all the August babies are total stunners. Ladies, we should all feel very proud of ourselves and I invite you to join me in a collective preen

pf thanks for the tip, I will try that in future. We tend to try and catch him before he wakes himself up as he has proven very adept at that in the past - lots of eye rubbing and flailing about - but of course things change and it may be that we're not giving him enough of a chance to settle himself. The old short term/long term conundrum (accept a bit of disruption to see whether the long term situation will improve, or be unable to face it and just do whatever it takes for a quiet life now ).

Our routine, if you can call it that, is quite changeable. Generally it looks like this:

7am: bf
9am: nap (40 mins-1 hour)
10am: bf
11ish: meal (BLW, so mostly sticks of fruit and veg, have just introduced yoghurt which he loves)
Midday: nap (rarely more than 40 minutes)
1-2ish: bf
4-5ish: bf, often followed by nap on lap
6.30pm: bath
7pm: bf and bed
11pm(ish): bf (will leave out details of night feeds )

But sometimes he will have breakfast as well as lunch; he's had fruit with DP at 5.30am a few times when they've been up. Joe is only just approaching 6 months though so we're taking things gradually, although I'm not sure how I'll know when to scale things up.

Sazz ahhh at the snuggly sleepiness I love that. Joe's been falling asleep on the boob at bedtime again recently and I love hefting him onto my shoulder and going round saying goodnight to the room with him snoring away in my ear [melt]

Nights out, yes, very important. We're going down to see my dad this weekend and hopefully stepmum will watch Joe while we go to the pub (my dad is playing a gig, haven't seen him play for ages so would be nice). Not to mention the hen weekend I'm going to at the end of March...we will be staying here and I must confess I am really looking forward to it.
