Kurt's just not been himself at all last 24hrs, was up at 3.30 with a slight temp, wouldn't settle. Eventually took spare duvet downstairs and cuddled up in front of the Baby Channel, he perked up and went down in his cot 10mins later. Today he's been quite shouty and upset, was biting his lower lip trying not to cry at one point! Has also had tremor-y hands at times and blueish lips for a few mins but no other cyanotic signs so not panicking yet. If he wakes I will turn light on and examine him head-to-toe just to piss him off more). Of course I won't bl**dy sleep tonight worrying.

I realised I'm on holiday for the next local NCT sale so have sorted all my baby clothes into age bundles for Ebay - this is a quicker way to sell, as long as you've got a label or two to mention in the title. Have done photos, just got to get round to actually putting them on...

Annvan That's progress with the sleep, nice work both of you. You won't like this but I'd suggest setting your alarm for 8am and waking him after you've had your breakfast. Pretend you've got a schoolrun to do and go out for a brisk half hour walk, s'good for ya!

TwilightSurfer · 24/02/2009 20:32

PF all i'm doing is purees (baby jar style). Twice a day now but see that going to three meals by the weekend. She loves it.

pf I'm giving oliver 3 meals a day, well I was until he was poorly a few days ago...Now I attempt to give him 3 meals a day and he either eats them or screams...
Very roughly:

  • porridge (made with formula) about 8ish
  • puree of some description, plus a yoghurt around 11.30
  • puree of another description, plus a 'desert' around 5

However, at nursery he has:
8.30 breakfast
10.00 snack
11.30 lunch
1.30 snack
3.30 tea
and somewhere in there they try to squeeze a milk feed in too Maybe thats where I am going wrong?

CaptainCaveman · 24/02/2009 20:36

aw thanks for your kind comments on my gorgeous boy. Of course I think he's adorable but I am a little biased
However All aug 08 babies are utterly gorgeous

Sazzles I'm liking the look of your day. Am thinking I withdrew a feed too quickly, hence the increase in night wake ups. Am hoping that if O takes the bottle regularly this may help to fix things and allow us to carry on bf morning and evening.

LoveBuckets · 24/02/2009 20:40

PF I too can't work out when I will ever have time to feed Kurt 3 times in a day! Thinking one puree meal and 2 self-service BLW meals? No way can I fit in breakfast for him at the moment, the big two have brushed their teeth about twice in the last 2 weeks.

CC Good work you two, hope this helps perk things up for you a bit.

Bum, I missed VickiChristinaBarcelona at the baby cinema thanks to half term, was looking forward to developing my Javier Bardem fantasies. Will go see Milk tomorrow I think if Kurt doesn't have any more scary symptoms.

Sorry BLW meal should really be in inverted commas considering the microscopic amount that seems to go down.

sazzles So how old is Emma now and second question - how do you fit in naps for her (or is she a short nap person - I have a feeling she is)? Toby normally has one short sleep and one over two hours or two hour and a half sleeps. That with picking up/dropping off the others means I have no fecking idea when I'm supposed to cook let alone feed.

Today was 7.30am bf, 10am bf, 11.30am fell asleep as had been up far far longer than normal and slept until 1.20pm, bf 1.30pm, asleep again at 3.30pm until 4.20pm, puree at 4.30pm with a drink (not that he takes much) (pf feels guilty for how long he's been without a bf at this point) and bf at 6.30 when he went to bed. See - it is a all a bit random. In between this I have dropped dd at nursery, ds1 at school, been to toddler group, picked ds1 back up from school, picked dd up from nursery.

buckets Glad I'm not the only one then!

TwilightSurfer · 24/02/2009 20:50

Okay Reese's Feeding Schedule
If she takes a bottle (formula) at 5am (5-7oz) the rest of the day goes as follows:
9am bottle (6oz)
12-1pm puree baby food (and maybe some finger stuff)
2pm bottle (3-4oz)
5-6pm puree baby food (and maybe some finger stuff) followed by a bottle (3-4oz)
8-9pm bottle (6-7oz)
12am bottle (5oz) she skipped this last night

TwilightSurfer · 24/02/2009 20:52

Hi All

DD is 6mo on Saturday our schedule is roughly:

5am bf
7.30bf
8.30 porridge and/or fruit (I grate fruit into D's porridge and she has a chunk or 2)
10.30 bf
2.00 bf
4.30 ricecake/breadcrust
7pm big bf
11pm bf
and recently bf every 2 hours in the night!

Although today I left her with a friends 9year old DD when I went into the kitchen and came back and she had been fed greek yogurt with kiwi and plum chunks in it - no gagging or choking. I was a bit [shocked but the girl in question said DD was grabbing her spoon and opening her mouth everytime she took a mouthful. Toast was on the floor! Now being all PFB i spend the next 3 hours looking for dairy reactions as she isn't 6 months yet .

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 24/02/2009 21:03

buckets tht sounds scary,poor Kurt
Hope he is ok now.

pf sorry you are feeling fed up.
re weaning.
Marcus is still mainly BF and has some food as and when he sees us eat and shows interest.
so for eg.
6am ish BF
7,30 ish BF
then porridge mixed with BM with or without fruit.

9.30 ish nap of around 30/40 min. (huge meltdown if I miss this window of opportunity)

11.30 BF
depends where we are for lunch,if home may offer rice cake.biscuit.bead/sandwich etc...
if out its BF
2.30ish BF

4.30ish BF then offerings of whatever we have blwshort nap around 4 for half hour.
6.30 BF and bed.
(day time naps vary from being in or out)

PetitFilou1 · 24/02/2009 21:03

Hmmm see she sleeps a lot less than him. He is getting very hard to get to sleep unless utterly knackered (whereupon he goes out like a light). Normally he would have 45 minutes in the morning and then a couple of hours (at least) over lunch. Oh I don't know (wails) I'm finding it tricky not having a routine - its ok prior weaning but once you start you do need a bit of one.

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 24/02/2009 21:03

Buckes out sleeps are as follows:

9.30 - 40mins
12ish 40mins
3ish 40mins
NO sleep after 4pm unless we are staying up late
bed at between 7.15 and 7.30

Off to make pancakes - yummy

Sorry for my earlier poo message I was just very relieved (as was she)

dizzydixies · 24/02/2009 21:04

oh lordy, we don't have much of a schedule so I think I'll let you all get on with it and not embarass myself

PetitFilou1 · 24/02/2009 21:05

Ok off to phone dh, will ponder on all the information - thanks all

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 24/02/2009 21:06

sazzles ds naps very similar to yours.
oops ds was feeding every 2 hours for a week up until 2 nights ago. Wondered if it was growth spurt. I am sure there is one around 6 months.

Also meant to add, I always offer Bf before solids. unless he sees us eat and then wants what we have instead.

cc so gald O took a bottle for you. I had similar feelings of resentment last week when ds was feeding in night constantly, but not feeding properly and I was soooo tired.

so sorry about your sis though, ann is right no one can make her, she has to do it herself.

pertelote and vg hope you enjoy your nights.
I have only left ds once, with my dad and step mum overnight.
I have only left him with dh once, but only for about half hour
I am so very ready for a night out with dh though.
sazzles I know exactly what you mean, when you said you couldnt put her down. I do that with ds when he has had his last feed.
