oh cyteen very very of that.looks beautiful.

dizzydixies · 24/02/2009 22:15

Cyteen, looks fab

No1 - ironing still not done here either

am only up waiting on my ebay listings to finish so I know if I've to go the post office in the morning - then I'm for bed as pooped

cyteen · 24/02/2009 22:17

Yes, I am completely done in, the only reason I'm still up is to finish my wine

By the way girls, just finished a brilliant book - The Brutal Art by Jesse Kellerman - fantastically well written twisty thriller, quite ruminative and strange, and unexpectedly very moving (or is that just my hormones). Anyway, I like to share a good read so that's my recommendation done.

dizzydixies · 24/02/2009 22:18

as soon as I'm finished my hunningbird cake books Cyteen I'll give that one a look thanks

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 24/02/2009 22:19

I tired too, just been waiting to here from my friend with the twins. We went out today and the boy has very bad cough still like M. I told her to get second opinion if not happy, so she did and they got sent for chest x rays. She just text to say they are coming home. He got infection and inhalers.
Off to bed now. I can here dd crying.
night all

sambo303triesforScotland · 24/02/2009 22:19

cyteen that 'cottage' looks fab, hope you make full use of the pool!!

no1 - what is this ironing?

I'm off to bed now as just given ds his last feed of the day and if I'm quick I might get 3 hours straight sleep...night!!

hotterpotter · 24/02/2009 22:27

Mmmmm wine

Cyteen did you put in for your driving test? I still haven't booked my first lesson must must must get my job application done. Just found out today that it's being advertised on 23 March, so by the time the interview comes round I will no longer be on maternity leave (on annual leave until June) so will lose any mat leave advantage I had over the others. Grrrr.

Already had to go and soothe DS once tonight, he and DD both have terrible barking coughs (don't think it's croup ) so better be off too incase it's a return to shit sleep tonight.

Night-night all

dizzydixies · 24/02/2009 22:32

right, two out of 4 tops listed have sold so that was good - another £15 to add to the kitty - its embarassing to think what I've paid for them and then never worn them but at least this goes some way to getting something back

right ladies, have popped some paracetamol so off to lift the ironing back off the bed onto the ironing board so I can clamber in and go to sleep

wishing us ALL pleasant sleep filled evenings

dizzydixies · 24/02/2009 22:33

oh and before I go, did nobody else think that those cottages Cyteen linked to would be great for an Aug 08 meet up

hotterpotter · 24/02/2009 22:35

Dizzy they didn't have the prices up so I'm guessing it's waaaay out of my league! Come on you fecking lottery numbers...

Sibh · 25/02/2009 00:46

I should be in bed, but instead I'm online googling pics of a syphilitic penis for my Dracula class. So i thought I'd pop in to say hello. I'll try to catch up properly tomorrow night.
Let all the babies sleep tonight ...

hotterpotter · 25/02/2009 07:41

Sibh I hope you didn't dream about them, ewww.

Coffee's on porridge to follow shortly. No lovely pastries today; it is the first day of Lent so am trying to be good. I want pancakes

Not too bad a night here considering the amount of snot flying around. DS awake at 12, 2 and 6, up for good at 7 but we've managed to get downstairs without waking DD so she will hopefully be a bit more cheerful today . She got arsey with me on the way home from nursery yesterday - there's a low wall she likes to walk along and when she got to the end she wanted a piggy-back. I said no because I had DS in the moby, and several book bags etc, at which point she started yelling and wouldn't hold my hand. Fine I said, we'll just stand here all afternoon, at which point she did a massive wee , no warning or anything. hen I asked her why she'd done it she said 'because I'm a tinker' . She's never done that before, I'm about 90% sure she really did it on purpose, although she denied it later. Made her walk home with squelchy shoes though

hotterpotter · 25/02/2009 07:47

I forgot to say, Buckets I really hope Kurt is OK today, and that you managed to get some sleep

Morning VG. Glad you had a good time last night. Who said anything about wine?????? Cakes maybe, on a school day, and no chocolate, at least until I forget to take an apple with me when I'm out for a walk and no toast with butter apart from on Saturday... see that's why I'll never be size 10 again

Better go, DD up now. Lovely day everyone

cyteen · 25/02/2009 08:39

Sorry hotpot but I did lol at your DD 'because I'm a tinker'

Morning VG, glad you had a good night out. I was wondering why Maria stopped posting here as well, I know she's still active on the puree lovers' thread (don't ask why I go there, I have no life ).

Thankfully being a godless heathen I don't have to give up anything although I have been doing a good job of reining in my cakey excesses so far this week.

Buckets how is Kurt today?

Things are better here, DP and I had a chat yesterday evening and both feel a lot calmer - we had started to niggle at each other which is never nice, so it was good to clear the air. DS still awake a fair few times in the night but I feel ten times better because I managed to shush him back to sleep instead of having to pick him up - I think the getting out of bed and increased manual handling was what was really killing me, rather than the broken sleep per se. Body feels less like it's made out of rusted Meccano

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 25/02/2009 09:11

well i don't have to give anything up for lent because i'm already purer than the driven snow

Hi All

Well lent is here and wehave started off quite well ( for all 3 hours we have been awake) We have agreed not to 'give' anything up but to make time for things so there will be a bit less MN-ing in the evenings and to all eat together for breakfast and dinner at the table. We started this morning it was great - we all chatted and DH shared his breakfast with DD. DH also got up with DD at 7.30 so I could get a bit of sleep they woke me at 9 for breakfast which they made for us! DD slept okay until midnight, then awake from 2.30 until 3 when she fed then, 4, 4.45, 6 she came in with us slept until 7.30 when they got up.

Sibh - yours was the first message a saw this morning eeeeewwwwww

VG - pleased you had a good night.

Buckets - echoing the 'hows Kurt?' thought

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 25/02/2009 10:03

VG... oh you do have such a way with words, if only i knew what you were really trying to say

oops.. that's such a good idea re making time for things

exciting news from the miamla household
DS has worked out how to go from standing to sitting without bumping his head on the way down!
His new trick last night was to traverse his way down the sofa It was sooo much easier when he stayed where i plonked carefully placed him

Morning everyone.

Not very well here. Sore throat and sneezing. Had a bit of a temp last night. Just generally grotty really. Ando course Seb decided not to go to sleep till one am, then woke just before six and didn't want to settle.

miamla what exciting news! Seb isn't even crawling yet.

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 25/02/2009 10:30

VG - are you lining the pastry and weighing it down with beans before baking? Also you should prick the pastry with a fork all over before weighing down to let the air that builds up can escape. When putting it in the tin put a sprinkling or flour in the bottom of the tin to stop it sticking. On the burnt edges - how high in the oven is your tin? Is it in the centre of the shelf? too far to the back or side can have uneven heating causing the edges to burn. the blind bake only needs to be about 7-10mins in a 170deg normal/160deg fan oven, middle shelf then remove the paper and beans give it another 2-3mins , take out add filling and bake until filling is set about another 20mins normally. fill the pasrty case right to the top or the edges might catch.

here endeth my pastry sermon.
