Anyone elses lo not sitting up yet? Toby is so frustrated (and it is really hard to feed him as he bounces like mad in his bouncy chair)

PetitFilou1 · 23/02/2009 12:56

He hates lying on his stomach - I think I am going to have to persuade him it is a good idea as I don't think he's got the muscles...

ataraxis · 23/02/2009 13:09

Hi pf, we have the same issue - she can't sit up yet (gradually getting there), will not lie on her back (immediately rolls) and gets very frustrated at being on her tummy (mainly as she isn't moving yet, only gradually inch by very slow inch ).

A nice, quiet, sitting up (and still) baby would be fabulous. Not sure how long it will be that ds2 knocks her down again "playing" with her though

Sausageandmash · 23/02/2009 14:10

Hello all - I have scanned the thread but, if I don't post now (and read thread fulsomely) it grows whilst I'm reading and I feel like I can never catch up!!!!

Firstly, Pertelote, sorry to hear that you've got to have a stint at GOSH. As you might remember from the meet-up, I live very close to the hosp and would be delighted to put you up or, if you are staying in the hospital (likely, I imagine) or the patient hotel, I can offer hot shower, bath, coffee, lunch, supper, etc. Please 'use' me in anyway you can, even just to give you a break every now and then. Let me know and we can e-mail details.

Whilst scanning, I noticed a couple of things which made me laugh - 'joy of bubbles', 'children for sale' and 'emergency flake'. You are all women after my own heart!

Now, back to the case in point. Yes, Ataraxis, it's not just you! Ds has no intention of being able to sit anytime soon. If it weren't for being able to squidge him into his bumbo there'd be no way for me to 'feed' him at all!

On the weaning front, thanks for all the advice on what to/what not to give. I've been pureeing like crazy and he now has sweet potato, squash, apple & pear to spit out, as well as banana and the new one, avocado (a bemused look and an fairly instant posset - so that'll be a grower methinks!)

Oh, and Happy Birthday TS!

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 23/02/2009 14:26

hey sausages... can you email me please (miamla at hotmail.com)

LOL Kurt is the most unleolike leo I've ever met ... so far.... Leo men are particularly big show offs aren't they? Leo women are pretty ruthless/driven, the ones I know anyway.

AnnVan · 23/02/2009 15:41

DP is a leo, and he's stubborn asa mule!

PF no Seb hasnt had the MMR (yet). Does the 3rd batch of jabs include an MMR?
Oh I'm rather bored. Going to wake little man.

PetitFilou1 · 23/02/2009 17:55

annvan Of course he hasn't had it (muppet emoticon) It is far too soon for him to have had it. But you are still bf aren't you - in which case he will be getting protection via your antibodies to some degree at least

Have just been battered for commenting on weaning again - why do I never learn

LoveBuckets · 23/02/2009 18:30

Well Ikea was fairly hellish, would never ever do it with kids! Could only find the laptop wall cabinet thingy in the right colour so will have to keep Mumsnetting in the dark in Kurt's room for the time being.

DD and DS1 are having a whale of a time playing Transformers together, feel bad for calling time on them but tis a school night.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 23/02/2009 19:25

Hi everyone.
ts hope you are having a lovely birthday.

ann hope seb is ok.

sausageandmash Hi, missed ya.

sazzles how is dd1 rash?? Is she feeling any better??
Marcus can't sit properly yet either.
Today he has started sitting/pulling himself up in his seats/swings and chairs.

Both dc fast asleep, dh gone out to pub to watch football. Bless on his own, no one he knows can go out as he says they are 'under the thumb'

dizzydixies · 23/02/2009 20:00

hi sausage lovely to have you back onboard!

No1 I also have 3 sleepers, DH at work and I'm only on here till girls are asleep then I'm off upstairs to tackle our room and the ironing

I have however just sold a top on ebay for £75 so am thrilled, have listed a load of other stuff too so will hopefully manage to bring in some money this month

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 23/02/2009 20:14

Thats fantastic dizzy well done.
I also have a pile of ironing that I said I would do tonight.

Tis very quiet in here, the sofa looks neat and tidy.

Bless your dd sazzles
well done on the cleaning front too.

Was it oops that said she had a better night as not gave to much solids yeaterday, very strange as yesterday, Marcus wasnt bothered either (only had small tuna sandwich) not bothered at breakfast or tea and he slept better too.
Only one wake up at 4am instead of every 2 hours.

dizzydixies · 23/02/2009 20:20

lol, my house is an absolute tip and I shouldn't be on here at all BUT when I start selling stuff on ebay I become a bit manic wanting to see who's watching/bidding etc

the dining room/kitchen looks like a bomb has hit it and I can't see our bed for ironing was a nice day here today again though so all systems go for banishing winter and welciming spring (fingers crossed) the girls were out the back playing when DD1 came home from school so hopefully the fresh air will knockthemout be good for them

DH on late shift but has been well warned that he's getting up in the morning to help scrub/clean/hoover/hidy etc before his parents turn up - ALTHOUGH I am beginning to wonder whether or not this is a good idea, maybe if they turned up and saw the place in its usual perpetual chaos they might help out a bit more

expectant I loved you email about the kiddies quotes, made me smile. My mum used to have some books by Sarah Kennedy from BBC2 about all the funny things that kids say and she used to love them

PetitFilou1 · 23/02/2009 20:43

dizzy I am of you managing to put stuff on ebay - I have TONS of stuff that needs to go on- it may have to wait for NCT sale... cannot seem to persuade dh to help me do it!

sazzles that is exactly what I felt - anyway the op has posted again and said I wasn't fierce so I'm not feeling bad now! None of the other people in my village have even heard of BLW. It is a fashion just like everything else isn't it. I say just do what is right for you. I read the book, considered it, but Tobes is happy on puree for now and no doubt will spoon refuse at some stage so I'll be going that way when he's ready anyway. Ratatouille sounds good - Tobes had courgette/potato/cheese today (and he's not 6 months until the end of the week but dh said what's a few days) and he loved it.

dizzydixies · 23/02/2009 20:47

pf its my only way of making money at the momeny as seeing as I pass the PO every morning to take DD1 to school I thought it might by a way of getting rid of some of the clutter in this house AND bringing in some money

we only have one NCT sale a year here and I can't be tripping over all our tat stuff until then so off we go

well, it saves me doing the housework too if I'm being honest

sazz I used to ebay a lot but got annoyed with it, they've changed it all and its now SO much more user friendly I was delighted at the change, these things are the first things I think I've sold in a couple of years !

I have put my matty tops up the loft for now you never know !!!

hotterpotter · 23/02/2009 21:02

Evening all

I too have piles of uselesscrap stuff waiting to go on ebay, in fact poor DS will never get his own room unless I get my finger out. A lot of it is baby clothes though and I'm torn because

  • baby clothes don't seem to sell too well on ebay
  • I secretly still want one more baby

After the lovely weekend we had without DD and the tired tantrums we have had today I must be mad to consider it, LOL! Doesn't really matter as DH will never agree.

Sazz how are your thorn-pricked fingers today? I too was fighting a couple of climbing roses yesterday and my hands are cut to shreds.

PetitFilou1 · 23/02/2009 21:09

hotter I am saving the baby clothes for my little sister (little being 30 ) I agree they don't sell well on ebay. I think people need to see them. Maybe they go better at NCT?

dizzy The funny thing is we need the money too but dh can't be arsed!

dizzydixies · 23/02/2009 21:13

pf I promise its sooooo much easier now
