Just for reference for anyone else wondering or a bit like me about periods and breastfeeding. I found this and am now reassured www.breastfeed-essentials.com/menstruation.html Quite interesting too about the milk during a period.

ha ha Birt-day. Can't even spell in my OLD age.

Dizzy I love going to the dentist. My dentist drives a Harley Davidson and has a pony tail. He's a hooot!! Charles and I go for our six month cleaning visits together so we can swap out the kids. The staff love us. We always have the same dental hygenis (hygentist...whatever the word.) She's wonderful too and I'm always bumping into when out and about. Nice Nice lady. My Teeth are Proof. I'm suppose to have a root canel and new crown installed soon. Just trying to figure out how to fit it in. That extra day in the week I ordered seems to be backordered till Fall.

{{{HUGS}}} TO EVERYONE!!!

Thanks for all your hugs and kind words

Poppy as everyone else has said thoughts are with you - certainly puts my problems into perspective.

DS really been a little monkey with the sleeping recently. Think must have something to do with me being back at work. For the past few nights he's woken up anywhere between 9 and 11.30. He'll then go back to sleep on my shoulder but when I put him back in the cot he wakes up and smiles at me. I try turning out the light and leaving the room but as soon as I do that he starts crying. We repeat this little game about 5 times. Last night I'd had enough so after the third time I left him to cry. He cried for about 2 minutes and then it all went quiet so I went to check and he was fast asleep.

He's definitely started babbling a lot more and we now get definite ba-ba noises and am quite convinced he said Mama yesterday although DH not quite as ready to agree as he thinks he should say Dada first!

Think I too will be bf for a year. New cups arriving from the UK today though so you never know he might decide he likes them. I do wonder where he gets his stubborn streak from - is it a typical Leo trait?

Expectant · 23/02/2009 03:30

Don't usually forward e-mails and the like but this one tickled me and thought you might all appreciate it:

JACK (age 3) was watching his Mum breast-feeding his new baby sister. After a while he asked: 'Mum why have you got two? Is one for hot and one for cold milk?'

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, 'If you don't remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six.'

STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mum good night. 'I love you so much that when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window.'

BRITTANY (age 4) had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mum explained it was a child-proof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: 'How does it know it's me?'

SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. 'Please don't give me this juice again,' she said, 'It makes my teeth cough.'

DJ (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: 'How much do I cost?'

MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: ' Why is he whispering in her mouth?'

CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried. When his Mum asked what was troubling him, he replied, 'I don't know what'll happen with this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in it?'

JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: 'The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.' Concerned, James asked: 'What happened to the flea?'

TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mum knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, 'Why doesn't your skin fit your face?'

I think this Mum will never forget this particular Sunday sermon...'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended towards heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust...' He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, 'Mum, what is butt dust?'

Morning all

Happy Birthday TS!!!!*
Thanks for the cake, it's yum!

cyteen, sorry to hear you had a bad night.
On the bright side, you win the prize for the first one to stop waxing lyrical about their other half so here is a big hug for you as you needed .

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 23/02/2009 09:26

Morning

Yesterday I decided to stop the weaning to see it was having en effect on DD's sleeping - Sleeping poblems have only started since cot and doing foodie bits late in the day. So just BF yesterday and she was okay with it. she fed at 7, 11,4,5 then woke at 7.30 fed a bit more. So better this morning I had to give her her porridge, she sat watching Dh at his and she opened her mouth everytime he took a spoon, so I made her some porrige with pear and she had her mouth open from the moment I took the bowl out of the cupboard! For the first time she seemed to really want her food - not just eating it as because it is there.

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 23/02/2009 09:29

Cyteen - sorry about the bad night lastnight DD woke DH up for the first time since she was born boy was he grumpy and it was only at the 11pm wake up!

dizzydixies · 23/02/2009 09:44

morning all

cyteen boo for poor night, hope you manage a snuggly nap at some point

watching DH and DD2 pootle about in the garden while I do the banking more like robbing Peter to pay Paul!!!

actually, DH pootling. DD2 waving a garden cane about and terrifying everyone within 10mile radius

TS have a lovely lovely day

right, back later, hidying and robbing to do

CaptainCaveman · 23/02/2009 09:54

Happy birthday TS I hope you have a fantastic day - what are your plans?

golly I seem to have missed a lot in a couple of days, as ever, no hope of catching up

O has reverted to a newborn in his sleeping habits. Woke up 3 times for feeding last night, then at 4am decided it was time for everyone else to get up too . I am blaming it on the lack of food due to him being poorly. I am now beginning to dread going back to work next week if I have to survive on this little sleep

LoveBuckets · 23/02/2009 10:18

Happy Birthday TS Hope Midisurfer gives
you a break today. BTW Dentists in Britain tend to work in converted over-the-shop appartments and look sinister and amateurish from outside. Plus you often have to drive miles and miles for an NHS one so beggars can't be choosers. Dentists are up down there with lawyers and estate agents in the UK.

PF I grated courgettes and carrots into the spaghetti near the end as I knew she'd eat those and they'd kind of disguise/muddle the sauce. There was about 5tbsp sauce stirred in 250g pasta, took her portion out then added the rest of the sauce.
DS's nappies are like your description btw but then he doesn't really chew at all. Have you ever been tested for food intolerance? My kit was about £42 from Cambridge Nutrition something, called Food Detective.

Sazzles Ikea here cunningly opened just before half term, hence my agonizing wait, hoping that termtime Monday lunchtimes are not too bad.

Dizzy will FB you.

VG Have you tried googling yurt holidays? More expensive than camping but a bit more luxurious. Some in Wales and Cotswolds I think.

OOh that Bumgenius site has 3prs baby legwarmers for £20, am v tempted for sling and summer crawling purposes.

My DH is very kind and tolerant (we were just laughing at how many peculiar friends he has), knows everything I don't know which is v handy (I get cross when he occasionally doesn't have the complementary knowledge I require), self-sufficient and makes my leg jiggle with excitement when I think of him (had to stop wearing noisy ankle bracelets when we met). Right now however he is pissing me off trying to record some bass in the kitchen with cables everywhere and hadn't thought to load the dirty dishes first.

We got some daaaaadaaaaaas here this morning so Kurt obviously likes him too.

Sibh · 23/02/2009 10:42

Happy birthday TS. I'm not sure I'm ready to invent an extra day after my abject failure in growing spare arms ...

I had to teach DS to calm down by talking him through it-he had no off switch. It took ages, but it did work, and hopefully the therapist will be able to make the results show up sooner.

I am so tired it is ridiculous. DD2 is waking every hour and has terrible wind at night. Like oops I tried stopping feeding but she was having so little anyway I can't see this is the issue, and she's a skinny little thing anyway.

My DH is fab too- clever, funny, gorgeous, (an odd thing to say but) moral and he has a childlike sense of wonder which is just delicious. He is prone to offering helpful advice when hugs are needed too Cyteen, and according to him, singing 'Mummy's on the verge of a nervous breakdown' to the tune of 'drunken sailor' is unhelpful.

Sibh · 23/02/2009 10:45

Black humour is my way of battling the dooms by the way ... I didn't mean to be tactless. Sorry about that.

CaptainCaveman · 23/02/2009 10:46

Apologies for any typos - O is on my lap 'helping' me to type

Dh swears he got a daadaa from Oliver on saturday, and that he held his arms up as he said it. It made dh's day anyway!

My dh is my bestfried, he makes me laugh out loud, has the same daft sense of humour as me, is a jolly good cook, very sensible with money, and does his very best to look after our family. I love him to bits, even if he is grumpy in the mornings

Ha ng on, Oliver wants a word... ,uigv h mfggededee d g m p-/@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

pertelote · 23/02/2009 10:46

Morning all. Sorry for bad nights CC and Cyteen

My DH is also lovely, obv., and to prove it he brought me breakfast in bed every day until DD was 6 mths. However yesterday he referred in all seriousness to someone on MN as 'one of your colleagues' Now I suppose in a way we are embarked upon a joint venture but I did feel as though he'd forgotten that I do actually have a job!

Weaning going a bit better here since a friend gave me some foam wedges she'd used to prop her daughter up - they had the same highchair as us and the same problem with slumping! So far clementines, cheese, porridge are all popular; top hit though has been bread soaked in mushroom soup.

Aaaaaand..... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TS! Hope you have a great day.

CaptainCaveman · 23/02/2009 10:48

dh is of course not Bestfried but he is my bestfriend . who knows, he might be nice fried too!!

cyteen · 23/02/2009 10:51

lol I am feeling somewhat improved after ingesting a bucket of tea and some breakfast...Cavey and oops I think there's a lot of sleep disturbance about just now, and thinking about it there are so many reasons. E.g. last night would have been alright had Joe not (a) wee'd through his pjs and sleeping bag at 4.45am, thus necessitating a wakey change, and (b) then done an enormous clay-like poo at 5am, after which there was no hope of getting him back off. He never used to poo at night but obviously the weaning is upending his digestion and things are just happening whenever they happen as his system adjusts; also, he seems ravenous for milk again at the moment, feeding loads last night, hence mega-wee; also he's been really fussy over his teeth today for the first time in ages; also he is v distractible in the day, so hard to get enough milk down him, so he feeds more in the night...

Aargh. Ordinarily it's fine but this morning I just had an 'everything hurts and he won't stay asleep' paddy, and I hate having those negative feelings around my darling boy. But it's all alright now, the sun is shining and Joe is having a nod in his cot

Feel a bit bad as well, as came downstairs to discover that DP had done all the washing up AND cleaned the crusty cooker top a job he knows I hate Plus he did make me a calorific dinner last night...I must find some way to reward him...

PetitFilou1 · 23/02/2009 10:57

TS
lol - I think you have to be extra fierce at this age as imo what is happening with ds1 is going to school has made him realise he is making his first forays towards independence. Above all he seems to need boundaries even more than ever. After I sent him to bed with no dinner last night, he slept from 6.30pm to 7am and was a model child this morning. He got dressed without being asked, said sorry for last night and was generally extremely good. He knew he had really pissed me off! PS I have threatened both ds1 and dd with the cold shower if they don't get out of the bath a few times and have not yet had to use it

buckets You have not met a fussy child if your fussy child will eat grated carrot and courgette ds1 is awe inspiringly fussy

I know I need to try a food intolerance test but dh is about them and I have no money atm so no chance until I start working again and can pay for my own! After waking up in severe pain last night and some other ssymptoms I won't go into today, I have also realised chocolate (a lot of) is a trigger too (how depressing!)

PetitFilou1 · 23/02/2009 10:59

TS And Happy Birthday (and forgot to say I also have to remember to give ds1 a lot of praise too when he deserves it)

AnnVan · 23/02/2009 11:17

Happy birthday TS!!!! cyteen sorry to hear if bad night. My DP also has the habit of having a go if I have an early-hours meltdown
That said, Little man went down about midnight and slept till 10am. Didn't even have his dummy.
Sebs been doing dadaDAAAAAAs for over a monthnow. He also does yayaya and lalala and deedeedee. It does look funny though

AnnVan · 23/02/2009 11:38

Aaargh. great. jus had a message from bf group. Turns out one of the babies there last week has measles. At least they're finally telling people not to bring ill babies to group. I had decided to stop going because Seb keeps catching stuff of poorly babies that are there.

PetitFilou1 · 23/02/2009 12:38

annvan Has Seb had MMR as fingers crossed he will be ok if so?

Not such a bad thing for him to catch things (although not that) generally as he needs to develop immunity at some point! Otherwise when they first go to nursery/school they will catch everything going. Imo . dd particularly is pretty much teflon these days and only generally gets a bad virus about once a year (touches wood)
