no1 Marcus sounds just like Joe who is also mad for all food he can grab, all the time, and a nightmare to breastfeed unless at home (and even then it's a struggle). Think he might have overdone it yesterday though as today he only ate a bit of cucumber, plum and steamed squash, and chewed on a single piece of broccoli for about 20 minutes Lots more straining today, some upsetting, some not. DP reports that in this morning's nappy there was a single small piece of very solid poo, since then we have only had liquid ones (sorry for yet more poo talk).

What a day of highs and lows for the August ladies! CC very pleased on your happy house news but sorry for poor O and his poorly ear Also sorry to hear of ongoing struggles with mental health issues - I'm not fit to comment as such as all my depressive traits are a direct result of grief, but I do wish you girls all the strength and self-belief there is Do whatever works and helps to get you to where you need to be, is my thinking.

pertelote there is really nothing I can add to VG's eloquent comments...March 5th will be thronging with positive vibes for you and Marianne, you know that. I know I can't understand how you and your DP are feeling right now, but we are all here for you in whatever way we can be.

VG re. tomatoes, I always get itchy hands when I'm chopping or skinning them and an acquaintance who grew large tomato crops reported that she had the same thing when harvesting. They must just be an ornery fruit!

Have had lovely day today and now DP is upstairs getting Joe ready for bath so I will be back later.

albs Can't advise on taking the anti ds in the evening rather than in the morning (dh is a cardiologist so not much use on that front!) I suspect it may be to do with hormone levels - they may be higher or lower in the morning or something. Anyway if I were you I would ring Saneline and ask. The volunteers who answer are supervised by professionals and could get the answer for you I'm sure. Whether you'll find it easy to get through I don't know but anyway here is the number 0845 767 8000 and the link if you don't know about them (I used to volunteer for them years ago on their helpline) here

or otherwise ask your GP ....

petitfilowersandchocolates · 20/02/2009 18:51

Link doesn't work properly for some reason try sane.org.uk/SANEline

ataraxis · 20/02/2009 20:26

pertelote it has all been said by the people on here already, we will be thinking of you on March 5th and the time that follows.

albs and expectant, thoughts are with you. I hope that you are doing ok.

vg speaks wise words indeed.

vg, glad things went well, if not according to plan, with your ds.

sazzles, glad you got the referral finally. Hope that something sensible comes out of it.

oops - sucking the cat?!

petitfilowersandchocolates · 20/02/2009 20:33

pertelote Also wishing you all the best - I too would be terrified. This must be one of the hardest things to go through as a parent. She is in the best hands though and possibly even in the world tbh.

LoveBuckets · 20/02/2009 20:39

Albs, try 'em and see but do make sure you've got support on standby(friends/rellies) in case you do get side effects. If you do get any, keep taking them though, even if you feel worse. They only last a few days and the actual anti-depressant effect won't kick in for at least a week or two. DH's side effects on escitalopram were awful and he couldn't be left alone but we pushed through together and they soon kicked in. Friday night is a good time to start.

Pertelote, thinking of you. And that ancient Chinese curse 'May you live in interesting times'. Hope some banality is soon to follow.

CC, nice work on the house front.

No1 so good to hear Marcus has his appetite back with a vengeance.

VG Tomato intolerance/allergy is v common.

LoveBuckets · 20/02/2009 20:56

PMSL Have just started a game of Lexulous with one of DH's mates and my opening word was sperm. He's going to be so embarrassed but it was 22 points - how could I resist???

petitfilowersandchocolates · 20/02/2009 21:05

Buckets Only you could do that

Have not yet persuaded dh to resume marital relations in this house. I don't know what I have to do ho hum

Thank you all (again). All your kind thoughts mean so much. I know how hard it is to know what to say in this sort of situation so I really, really appreciate it all. That being the case, it seems rude to pick out one person in particular, but I hope you don't mind if I say - VG: I will be hanging on to that image. Thank you.

Okay will someone remind me why I thought IL's babysitting tonight was a good plan?? DD did her newly acquired 10pm wake up where we just leave her until she is asleep again. We asked them to do the same but have just come in to find DD wide awake watching telly and apparently she had been awake since I rang at 9.45 to check on everyone. Now I have one truely wound up small girl who has just been given some milk and put in her cot to talk herself out! She seems to have found interesting things to look at now she is in the cot, in the moses basket she was on the floor and below the line of sight for anything interesting.

Well we had a great time just sitting in a quiet pub having a few drinks and snacks, at first it was strange we didn't quite know what to talk about It was like our first date all over again!

Going to bed now all glowy with adultness (no Buckets not that kind of adultness!!!)

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 20/02/2009 23:25

Pertelote - VG is indeed a woman with wise words - she managed in a few words to say exactly what I would have loved to have said but it would have taken me 3 pages and lots of digging myself out of holes! {{{{HUGS}}} for you all.

hotterpotter · 21/02/2009 08:55

Morning all, blueberry pancakes for breakfast today if you can bear with me for a little while, I've never made them before.

Oops I hope DD went back to sleep without too much fuss last night. I'm sure it was worth it though, for some quality grown-up time. Haven't been out with my DH sans-enfants for about 18 months, eek.

Pertelote of course you should single out what VG said, she had me in tears and my DS is fine. I have a special place in my heart for your DD as I think of her (and Poppy's DD and Expectant's DS) as my DS's sort of twin and I just can't imagine how you must be feeling. Love to you xxxxx

Better go and get washed then think about these blooming pancakes...

LoveBuckets · 21/02/2009 09:05

Morning all. Have just set a cheery Kurt on DH who is being a teenager about getting out of bed.

Oops Glad your night went ok. LOL at MILs who usually bang on about controlled crying being great but can't actually resist a crying grandchild.

Albs Did you start your pills then? On a sympathy note I started a course of superduper laxatives last night so we could be pill-popping buddies. Apparently we in the West all carry around 10lb of calcified poo stuck to the sides of our bowels from eating rubbish food - this stuff is supposed to dissolve it [meep] over the course of a week. that this is my idea of fun but hey, better out than in. Ooh, better rush off now...

hotterpotter · 21/02/2009 09:36

Ewww Buckets, still I think it sounds less gross than colonic irrigation. You'll have to let us know how you're getting on, not in too much detail though

Still no pancakes, sorry. Must get arse in gear...

hotterpotter · 21/02/2009 11:09

Where is everyone? You missed a treat, the pancakes were delish

Suppose I ought to go and spend some time with my children...

LoveBuckets · 21/02/2009 11:13

LOL yes it is just like a colonic but cheaper! Fine so far, although I'm v hungry already as it said to eat easily digestible foods - not my usual massive bowl of Allbran, Oatibix minis and Harvest Crunch then.

LoveBuckets · 21/02/2009 11:14
AnnVan · 21/02/2009 12:50

ello all. h key is playing up.
not sure wat's going to happen. SIL is taking er laptop back tomorrow. wat will I do?

hotterpotter · 21/02/2009 18:49

Crikey I don't think I've ever seen it so quiet on here

Have had a lovely day, DD gone to Grandma and Grandad's until teatime tomorrow so we've been out in the garden clearing the patch where the new pond is going and just generally tidying up a bit. Hoping for another good day tomorrow, haven't done much out there really since before DD was born so needs some serious work, there are dandelions and brambles everywhere. I'm hoping the cold weather has killed most of the slugs; we'll just have to wait and see.

Hope you're all off having a lovely weekend

Ann do you have another computer? If not then tell your SIL she'll just have to fight you for the laptop!

AnnVan · 21/02/2009 19:46

Hello HP - it is rather quiet isn't it? Must be the improved weather or something. Everyone's out enjoying sunshine and the like. We're having burritos for dinner tonight. If DP gets to the shop to buy tortillas. For some reason he picked up naan bread instead of tortillas yesterday. He keeps suggesting we do an eclectic 'fusion food' version of burritos using naan bread instead of tortillas. DOes anyone think this would really work?

petitfilowersandchocolates · 21/02/2009 19:54

sazzles And they say men are supposed to have the high libidos don't they. Still at least dh has been for his op I suppose. The hilarious thing is that he has to ahem 'clear the tubes' 24 times before his first test. In May. I shouldn't have laughed but I did I'm looking forward to starting on that....... eventually....

It is VERY quiet on here. What is going on?

buckets So I can lose 10lb just by taking laxatives - what exactly are they called then? I have IBS so I doubt very much that I need those sadly. Hope they improve you though and make you lighter!

Has everyone else had a lovely sunny day today?

petitfilowersandchocolates · 21/02/2009 19:55

annvan Personally no I wouldn't go for the naan substitution. Sounds dodgy to me but let me know if it isn't!
