I hold the record for heating the same cup of tea in the mircowave in one day I think it got to 7 times ...never drank it in the end !!

Ceebee74 · 24/02/2009 20:19

I guess that is the advantage I have of not drinking hot drinks at all (apart from one cup of tea in the morning with brekkie)

Just wondering - with you all discussing bumbos/bouncy things/jumperoo etc - should I be worried that Sam does not have good head control yet?? There is no way I could contemplate putting him in any of these as his head is far too wobbly yet all your babies seem to be using them

Tinkerisdead · 24/02/2009 20:58

Ceebee, I wouldnt worry at all they all do things at different rates, i dont even look at development milestones etc as i worried when Sophie didnt coo and doesnt attempt to grab toys.

my mate is gonna lend me a jumperoo next week so hopefully that'll put a smile back on soph's face. she even cried in the bath today mind you she's asleep upstairs snoring so i cant have it all. Rosa i never thought to microwave it

ChocOrange05 · 24/02/2009 21:05

Ceebee M isn't that great with head control yet - and I get headbutted A LOT (esp when he's tired)! He is 15 weeks now. He can roll from his tummy to his back though when he's naked . Have any other reuseable nappy users noticed that the nappies seem to prevent them from rolling as they are quite big??

LackaDAISYcal · 24/02/2009 21:08

ceebee, it's hard not to compare your second to your first regarding milestones, especially if your first hit them sooner than later. bumble has been much slower at things than the older two, but he's getting there so I'm not worrying. As a friend of mine is always saying, no-one will know at 5 that he didn't hold his head steady until whenever.

bumble is 16 weeks now and he is only now holding his head well and enjoying being on his tummy. He has just in the last week got good at holding things as well; but I'm sure DD was doing it much earlier.

Ceebee74 · 24/02/2009 21:18

Thanks ladies - you have made me feel better already!

Daisy you are right - I am comparing him to DS1 who hit his early physical milestones (head control, rolling, crawling) early but hardly ever cooed. Sam, otoh, coos for England (when he is not being Mr Grump) and also grabs hold of his crib bars when in bed - to the extent that I have to prise his fingers off to get him out

LackaDAISYcal · 24/02/2009 21:19

there you go ; they all do things differently!

OP posts:
MerryMarigold · 24/02/2009 21:22

ceebs, i am deliberately holding mine back from developing . they have sat in bumbo a couple of times briefly but heads still bobbed a little so haven't let them sit for longer than a minute or so. i don't put them on tums as dd hates it and ds2 just throws up! i don't want them to crawl anytime soon anyway. i'm gonna need eyes in the back of my head, absolutely dreading it. i do sit them facing me and stand them in my lap to talk to them, but that's about it. as long as they smile a lot i'm very happy!!!

Tinkerisdead · 24/02/2009 21:25

ceebee be glad its his hands prised to the bars, a couple of weeks ago when sophie was cluster feeding at night she started mewing and whimpering and i was like " god, not again sophie, you cant possibly be hungry!" shone the light of my mobile phone at the cot and her little face was stuck between the bars mewing and staring at me!!!!! now she is in moses basket in the cot.I felt like a right cow! ha ha

LackaDAISYcal · 24/02/2009 21:30

oh, poor sophie. DD wakes up like that most mornings.

bumble's new trick is biting...of sorts. He clamos down on my nipple and then pulls his head slowly but determinedly to the side . I have said No firmly, but he has no idea what No means and just laughs at me . DD was a problem biter for a while but not till she was much older.

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 24/02/2009 21:33

pmsl sophie does a thing like that...she clamps down and pulls her head back which stretches my nipple out like a kid stretching liquorice or a wham bar or something. thing is it doesnt hurt, i glance down and there she is head back with long stretched nipple between us!

Dozymare · 24/02/2009 21:33

evening all!!

drswife I missed you as well!! how is that gorgeous little namesake of mine????? Being a pickle by the looks of things!!

As for toddler groups, please persevere...with DS1 I dreaded going but made the effort and now have lots of friends because of it. Plus, today, made a new friend! She is so up my street, just moved here from Dubai, doesn't know a soul but so lovely. We just clicked and I am going to show her the town an all!!!

Just want to let you all know, I will be looking for sponsorship sooon...have been folish enough to sign up for the London 10,000 in May - just waiting to hear confirmation but very excited, at least I have something to aim for now! (and if anyone wants to join me, please do!)

Have a great evening all!

PS ceebee I was so worried about DS2, he was late to develop physically compared to DS1 but was like your DS2 so much Chattier....He is fine now BTW! Stop comparing

LackaDAISYcal · 24/02/2009 22:01

Hello!

Firstly love to ladybuzz hope you will be able to find a bit of peace of mind with some space around you. It's so unbelievabley hard but hopefully the future will be brighter whatever the outcome xxx

drswife hope that some of the excellent suggestions here will help with the daytime nappage. Am in the same boat and have no advice!!

Chompers W is doing this at the mo and it is doing my head in. He bites nipple then moves his head down - yowch!

So. Sang W to sleep today - that was so nice, something I'll remember when am old and grey

Lady in shope tried to tell me how to soothe W as he was crying ('Give him some boiled water love') so I made face at another woman but it turned out it was her daughter

And William had moved himself from being the normal position in bed to lying side to side - I woke up because he was kicking the side of the cot! How's he done that then???

How are you Daisy? Was wondering how you are coping today? How are you managing with your new diet/ pain? x

LackaDAISYcal · 24/02/2009 22:06

oh, bloody hell. LB, how rude of me

I read your post earlier, and didn't get a chance to reply, and then forgot when I logged back on. Sorry that it's come to this, but hopefully it'll give both you and DH some space to work out what you both really want. I hope the DC aren't too confused by it. You know where we all are if you need to talk it out

PinkyMinxy · 24/02/2009 22:11

Hello
Thanks for kindnesses, I'm feeling very up and down. Been chatting to the lovely statley homes ladies.

Just wanted to give support to LB. Hope you can start finding your way soon.x
drswife she sounds like she'll be walking at 9 months! Im is a bit of a puddin, bless her. But she has a good grip and loves to chat, laugh and smile..

Daisy hope you are doing ok.

love to all.

Tinkerisdead · 24/02/2009 22:18

my mum said ohhh maybe she'll be like you, you crawled at 5 months before you could sit! whhaaaattttt?? i made her get my baby book out of the loft to prove she hadnt made it up.
oh god she cant get mobile, i have beautiful pebbles in storm lanterns on my hearth from my wedding reception... i refuse to move them out of reach..yet!

ladybuzz do let us know how you are this evening

LackaDAISYcal · 24/02/2009 22:50

lol DW....you will need to childproof your home soon enough

our shelves are unsurprisingly top heavy at the minute, and the bottom has been given over to children's books and some nice wooden toys.

pinky, glad you are chatting about things online with others who have been through it. I hope you are doing alright and hopefully getting closer to some sort of resolution (if that's the right word )of it all.

did we decide on a date for sheffield?

LadyBuzz · 25/02/2009 07:30

Morning,
Thanks for all of your support ladies.
Well he went last night, I cried, he cried. I suppose I just never thought it would come to this
In the cold light of day I realise it is a good thing. We both need space to clear our heads and it isn't fair to ask him to wait around with me while I sort myself out.
I have an app for the doc so will see how that goes.
Vbab my BF promises not to remind me of what MIL said when I am storming round to a GF of my DSs in 20 years time
I do understand she is upset she is just very harsh!

Daisy how are you feeling?

You too Pinky i'm thinking of you.

Jay had his jabs yesterday, poor little mite was asleep bt he was fine he whimpered and dropped back off - brave boy .

He loves being on his tummy - DS1 hated it.
He too is a very different baby from DS1 Ceebee I also have a grump, it takes alot to get a smile out of him.

Hi to everyone else

Oblomov · 25/02/2009 07:52

Morning.
No developments here. And I mean NONE. Hates tummy time so don't do it. No grabbing things. NO rolling over. No movement at all, to be honest. And you know what, I REALLY don't care. Couldn't give two hoots.
Love to LadyBuzz.

Oblomov · 25/02/2009 07:57

LadyBuzz, am I allowed to send love to Buzz Lightyear aswell ? Is that o.k. ? Its just that I think about you. But I think about your dh aswell. And I feel sorry for him. Is that o.k. ?
Shall I make you both some of my buzz lightyear chocolates ? would that help ? ?

LadyBuzz · 25/02/2009 08:06

Obs course you can I feel sorry for him too, he is definately the innocent party in this awful mess! Buzz chocs sound good

I don't care either about milestones, with DS1 I wanted him to do everything. Now he never sits still or stops talking and I wish he couldn't .

Dozymare · 25/02/2009 08:32

Gosh yes, FORGET milestones........ds1 was quite advanced physically (still is), DS2 was not. I compared, was worried. DS2 was speaking in full sentences by 2. ds1 was closer to 3. All kids are different and will reach milestones at different times. fret not, they all get there!!!!

tiger also HATES tummy time, I don't do it either....only when putting on one of her fancy frocks that button at the back, then she does tummy time and cries all the while.

pinky small footsteps, lead to giant leaps (this is my weight loss mantra but can also apply to pretty much anything, including you sorting things out in your head)

Oblomov · 25/02/2009 08:37

Dozy how is the weightloss going ? Are you half the woman you were before
will I recognise you on friday ?
I , myself seem to be putting on weight and I feel all bloated. Do you think my period may start ?
