well done Kayz Effie lol at your Bond villain!

kayzr · 04/02/2009 20:28

Trace I had something to ask you. What is the food like in the Slug and Lettuce? I might take DH there for an early valentines day meal. It was really nice when we went.

Hello new thread , I can't believe that we have filled a whole post-natal thread. We are so mature!

LadyT and I met up successfully for lunch. Our friends on the fatties thread will be pleased that we both opted for salads despite the many temptations of the food court. It was a very civilised affair with no baby interruptions at all - in fact O and N slept through the whole thing and looked most unimpressed when we tried to wake them and introduce them to each other. Both LadyT and O were stunning, just as people have already said.

N is a bit snotty and has slept almost the whole day. She sleeps alot anyway but today she topped any previous record. Gosh I hope she is still able to sleep tonight. I did the sucking out snot trick the one of you recommended. It was rather gross but very effective. The look on her face as I sucked on her nose was really quite amusing.

daisydora · 04/02/2009 20:43

arti good on you for snot sucking...I couldn't face it

Right at least I'm on the new thread, thanks kayz for the new thread

Have been trying the 90 min sleep cycle today and so far we have avoided a repeat of last nights meltdown, DS fast asleep in his cot. I'm off before I jinx this tranquil hour....

Veggiemummy · 04/02/2009 20:59

Wow only just made it on the last thread we filled it right up.

Hi Syb, that is horrible about your anaesthetic how scary for you, I bet your dh was freaking out. It's good to get that skin to skin eventually it's feels so soft and scrummy. I still do it now with ds2 in fact the ds1 caught us having a little nudey cuddle one day and promptly ripped his gear off and joined us.

Had a bath with the boys tonight I love bathtime. Dh and I take turns having a bath with them cos we love it so much. Ds1 was showing his little brother how to splash tonight was so cute. Ds2 adores his big brother he kind of looks at him and his dad like they are made of gold, ds1 who is quite used to being adore takes it all in his stride, but quite likes being the 'grown up' boy.

kmp1 · 04/02/2009 21:21

Veggie I'm going to send off the Aus citizenship application tomorrow - I think I just send it to the High Commission at the strand London, but they aren't too clear on the form?
Yes it will be interesting to see how long they take. I have heard the check and send from the post office is only taking about 6 days so we'll see. Did you use that?

On our trip: Not sure about our trip home in a couple of weeks... I think I am most worried about the dog as I have never put her in kennels before, and I also don't know which one near us is a good one. I guess I am trying to talk us out of going because of leaving her which is a really silly reason I know - it's just that I can't tell her we're coming back!! Might put her in for a trial overnight.
Arti and ladyT glad you were able to meet up - wish I could have made it but wasn't the best of days.
Veggie with the bath thing - I want to take him in the bath with me but I'm worried he'll go under or something! Do you just fill it really shallow or something? I have one of those bath support things but it'd be freezing if it was really shallow!!

Cat I am sort of doing the same thing - B has been so fussy and irritable at night and although I don't subscribe to these theories that what you consume affects the BF baby, I will give it a go. So I am drinking only decaff after noon, and have just expressed before i had a spot of cheerfulness, just to see...
On the rock hard boob thing - I would express it before bed. I think it will get far too painful before it will slow down production - but I don't know for sure...

Veggiemummy · 04/02/2009 22:16

Cat expressing will just make it continue it should only take a day for your body to work it out. If you want it to not be too explosive in her mouth when she feeds you can hand express a little off as that doesn't take as much off as with the commercial expressers but will settle the enforcement a little. Otherwise you could express and mix it with the formula as this will make the formula easier to digest for her and be using the expressed milk so your boobs hopefully won't stay engorged. But you will need to express each day.

Kmp I'm sending it tomorrow with the check and send, was going to do it today but Jordy was a bit poorly. Was the check and send easy? Did it take long.

We were the same when we had to put our cat in the cattery and I also didn't know who to go with. I decided to ring around and see who sounded nice, the first place I rang the lady was lovely so Leo is a regular there now and loves it, she has this cool little play area and combs him before we pick him up.

LadyThompson · 04/02/2009 23:12

Hello girls. Phew, what a tiring day. Arti, it was so lovely to see you and dear little N. And you forgot to say that, not only did we lunch on salad (though mine was giant) - I am sorry to say that we only drank water. It wasn't even fizzy! So no bubbles whatsoever. My biggest evil all day has been a decaf cappuccino. Er....hang on, no, that's not true. I've just remembered I had a large glass of wine with supper. Ah well, did some rowing machine.

Katie, I am horrified at your shunt. Glad you are ok.

Cat, every week I cross my fingers that the crying will diminish. I will keep crossing them.

The vein consultant appointment - the treatment sounds painful, expensive and rather drawn out. I suppose I will go ahead, as I actually do like skirts and wearing jeans or floor length skirts for the rest of my life does not appeal.

DP actually complained that we spend too much time slobbing around in pj bottoms at all times of day and that when we have both lost weight, it ought to stop He specifically mentioned my jogging bottoms too. I told him that they were Juicy ones and Madonna wears them, but he wasn't at all interested and said in a stern voice "Velour is velour". He's right too.

Veggie, your boys sound adorable.

Ooh, Syb, before I forget - sherry and Skips. Ambrosia! I bet they just went, too.

Turnip - how does he suck the dust mites out? I am hoping not with his mouth.

Veggiemummy · 05/02/2009 00:02

Kmp we actually get in the bath with him, well not both of us at the same time, we wouldn't all fit but either of us then both boys then the other one gets a shower (we have a separate bath and shower like in the motherland). We run the bath fairly deep and probably a little warmer than recommended for a baby, but he likes it warm and I have train ds1 to like hot baths. Dh helps get J out of the bath so I won't risk dropping him as I get out I'd when dh is away I have a little rocker set up beside the bath to lay him on as I get out. That way in the bath I can hold him up easily and actually most of the time he tries standing up anyway so I just hold his hands. If you don't want to have a bath with him I can recommend tummy tubs, we used for ds1 and he loved it now we use it for ds2 if he needs a clean up during the day or when he was a bit unsettled in the first few weeks before we took him to the cranio we would pop him in the tummy tub and it would calm him down. Look it up on google it looks like a bucket but is shaped to sit them in all snug and doesn't use much water.

Veggiemummy · 05/02/2009 00:06

Lady you tell your dp that now you are a mum you are fully entitled to house pants (although you probably call them house trousers here) and if you have your rowing machine well you need to wear something around the house so that you can jump on the rower thing when the mood to exercise takes you. If you wait to change out if your jeans, well the moment might be lost.

Verso · 05/02/2009 07:43

Love the cakes (esp the Darth Vader shower one) - and the "velour is velour" comment. Gok would approve .

Thanks, ladies, for making me crack a smile today (a rare feat). I think DD2 is embarking on her 12-week growth spurt a week and a half early. The past couple of days have been grim and last night was AWFUL - up every hour on the hour again. I am pooped.

Can I just ask, why is it only my babies who have growth spurts? (and turnip's of course - I think you mentioned one on the last thread...) None of my 'real life' mummy-friends seem to have them. Mind you, one friend of mine is worried about her baby not having gained any weight for a while - and at the same time she's been very proud of him sleeping through for weeks (he's four weeks older than DD2).

Case closed, m'lud.

Verso · 05/02/2009 07:44

P.S. Loving the thread title kayz and trace

Verso · 05/02/2009 07:50

P.P.S. Have uploaded a couple of new photos. Must try to find the cable for my camera so I can upload the 'snow monster' ones from earlier in the week!

daisydora · 05/02/2009 08:15

Morning all, hope you've had good nights. Well DS had last feed at 7.30 last night in bed for 8 and never woke till 4.30 . He had a quick feed and was back down for 5 till 7am. I feel great today. Although my boobs were enormous through lack of feeding So I will try the 90 min sleep cycle again today and hope for similar results.

lady t 'comfy clothes' as we call them are allowed in fact I thought t was the law

cat I would also express to avoid any discomfort. Just do a bit if you are worried about increasing your supply.

daisydora · 05/02/2009 08:17

lovely pics verso you have beautiful children

kayzr · 05/02/2009 08:20

Morning,

Verso Your DDs are lovely. I think DS2 had an early 8 week growth spurt last week as he didn't really sleep very much.

I'm going to take DS2 to be weighed today. He hasn't been weighed in about 5 weeks. He is sleeping well and seems to be growing so I'm sure he is doing fine.

We finally found DS1's red book yesterday. He didn't weigh DS2's birth weight until he was 7 weeks old!!

Wow more snow, we have woken to about half a foot of snow and it is still coming down. Dh has has his Lpndon trip cancelled and at this rate I'm not sure if the plane will be able to take off for Munich but will probably be all gone by Sunday.

Someone said something about the LOs being out of sorts when is snows, ds1 has been really playing up this morning, we kind of hoped nursery would be closed so he could stay home with us but it is open. Anyway he was really acting up this morning and when I asked if there was something wrong he burst into tears and said he didn't want to go to nursery because he missed his mummy too much. Poor little man I felt terrible he was really upset. We had really big cuddles and now he is walking with his dad to nursery. He is such lovely little man and it's quite unlike him to be messing about like he was I hope he's not coming down with something he could have what J has.

Verso mine def have growth spurts. J had his on the dot of 6 weeks for sure.

EffiePerine · 05/02/2009 09:14

Cat: are you going to the Rio? What's on? Will email about Monday

Oh and mine def have growth spurts. Maybe if yiur baby's only last a day you don't notice? 3 days here...
