Hello.

Trace I went with your idea!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EffiePerine · 05/03/2009 22:10

it's a red rash around his neck and on his forehead mostly - prob due to multuple chins and poss woollen hats (will try cotton to see if it improves)

LadyThompson · 05/03/2009 22:20

Evening everyone,

Well, I survived the haircut and it was surprisingly relaxing having it done at home (and very cheap indeed). Still got the colour to have done and am almost emboldened to try the hairdressers in the village for that (yep: one pub, one shop and a hairdresser ) but that might be a step too far. (I might end up with a blue rinse). The guy made a right horlicks of DP's hair though...But DP expects hairdressers to read minds. Also, the hairdresser had really bad hair himself. I nearly ran off when I saw the state of DP. But mine's quite good. Anyway, DP spends his working life in a wig anyway so what does it matter. If you'd told me I'd be having my hair cut in my own kitchen a year ago, I'd have told you it was simply impossible

Veggie - loving the tales of Munich. I'll have some veggie sausage.

Kayz, I am horrified that your sister is living with damp, that really is shocking. Is Crufts this Sunday? Enjoy yourself if so!

WG - that really is a cautionary tale. I am so glad you got it sorted but I must admit I did laugh at their utter cheek, emailing your mates to say you'd biffed off to Nigeria and were a bit short.

Daisy - hope your DS is feeling better...

Jam - Venison? You could probably catch your own round here. If you are a sufficiently bad driver that is...

Turnip - have a FAB time in Dublin, we will miss you!

SuperCat - good luck with the AD's. I really hope you don't fee too rotten before they kick in.

Lal - TWO chaise longues? Cor blimey! There's grand.

KMP - she still faces me in the Bjorn. Tbh, it foxes me a bit and I am always getting in a tangle with it, so can't imagine doing anything advanced like making DD face the other way...

ZJ - I was taken aback by your fantastic renovation project! Wowzers. Mine is child's play compared to that and you will all still have to put up with my whinging all summer, no doubt! It's you who should be on Grand Designs, my dear! (Kayz, do you know, being on the telly really is my idea of hell so wouldn't be able to cope with being on a homes programme, but I love (Re)Location Location Location. I just HEART Kirsty and Phil, especially Phil. He is so gentle and lovely. I quite fancy him. But let's not get started on weird crushes again )

Enjoy your night out Syb!

Effie - what is it about Mums and yellow and green? My mother's dining room was yellow and green at one point, it was rather bilious. I think she was hoping it would be spring like.

Right, only just sitting down to supper, it's small wonder I am so fat. It's only soup though. Homemade parsnip.

LadyThompson · 05/03/2009 22:28

I know that some of the grammar is duff in the above post. Forgive me. I am a little tired. Incidentally, we had the Michael McIntyre dvd for Christmas and only got round to watching it last night. I thought it was most amusing. It actually made me laugh quite a lot. (I'm a tough crowd )

Oh, and I just love all this talk of interiors.

Arti, haven't forgotten about the pictures - will confirm one way or t'other tomorrow. How is your sale progressing?

Isn't Michael Jackson a freakaloid? (Just watching him on the news). I used to live next door to the Hempel Hotel and when he was over in 2006 presenting an award, he stayed there and it was AWFUL - crazy fans were sleeping in the street, litter everywhere, paps everywhere, police everywhere...

lal07 · 05/03/2009 23:51

Next door to the hempel ladyt... that's proper. our two chaises are only habitat - and pre-baby cure for squabbling about who got to lie on the cushion side. needless to say they are both covered in grubby finger marks now. am v cheerful as my mum is staying and DH and I went to the very lovely pub at the end of our road and have had far far too much to drink. Was lovely - like reconnecting with former selves. Spent most of the time laughing at too cool for school students. Slightly sobering to be so much older than everyone else. But hey. Not so sobering that I can master consistent capitals.
Wishing good nights for everyone (or more realistically goodnightsiloveyouallyou'remybeshfriends).
Turnip am v of Dublin trip. I absolutely heart Dublin and am still pissed off I never got to go to Uni there (had a place at Trinity but couldn't afford it in the end being only plastic paddy).

kayzr · 06/03/2009 07:26

Morning,

Turnip I love the F&B colours. Might have to see if I can get something similar in Dulux or crown.

Lal V V of 2 chaises. We had to sell ours because when we had to move it wouldn't fit into the flat we moved too. If I do win euromillions tonight I think it will be the 2nd thing I buy.

Verso I hope you managed to get some sleep last night.

Crufts is tomorrow and no blooming camera!! It should be back in the next 2 weeks apparently. Well it better be back in time for DS1's birthday!! I am still worried about falling asleep and ending up in London or Plymouth or somewhere else.

Well Mum dyed my hair last night, not sure if I like it or not. DH says it looks really good.

I'd love to go and see Michael Jackson but I am expecting the tickets to go very quickly.

Hope you are all ok.

kmp1 · 06/03/2009 07:33

Morning all, arti thanks for the schedule -i def think B isn't getting enough sleep. zoe and lal hi and thanks for the concern - yeah i'm feeling much better - dh got off work early and took me to the pub yesterday. B was asleep and I took a bottle with me but he was still asleep when due a feed, so let him sleep right through. He ended up havin the bottle at 8pm rather than 6pm. Bath and then another bottle at 930p then asleep at 10! Up at 6 though prob due to full nappy and / or dh's bloody alarm which he hits snooze 17 times it seems!
SL your LO sleeps loads too! Right sky man coming today - one room not working and so there is danger of me not getting out of bed where the only sky box is working B in bed with me now watching last nights recorded shows - he loves a bit of American Idol double !

lal07 · 06/03/2009 07:39

blurgh. good idea at the time...am not so perky now. kayz have a brilliant time tomorrow. could you get one of those disposable cameras? or borrow one?

meant to say yesterday zj am so impressed you built your own house. in theory i'd really love to but takes me so long to decide about what colour to paint a wall think we would have to live in a caravan for years whilst i changed my mind a thousand times.

also ages ago kayz and I think veggie your DS1s were getting up in the night. ours to and we finally decided to keep stairgate on his bedroom door all night. that and promised him pancakes for breakfast if he stayed in his own bed. has totally worked - he doesn't get up and doesn't get upset when he finds the gate still there. so we're now getting a bit more sleep.

kayzr · 06/03/2009 07:41

Lal It really works doesn't it. DS1 has only been up once since we put the gate on his door and that was because he had been jumping on his bed and made himself sick.

Morning all

DD has started being a lazy latcher and has stopped taking big gobfuls of nipple and is now just sucking on the end and I?m getting very sore and didn?t enjoyed last nights feeds at all. She?s always been pretty good so I don?t know what?s going on, its worse on the right side so I?ve double checked I?m holding her correctly etc that way. Does anyone have any tips to get her to latch on properly again? I?ve just been letting her get on with it for so long I can?t remember what I should really be doing!

Kayz at your DS1 jumping on the bed, cheeky little fella! Have a fantastic time at crufts ? we want a full report of all the dogs

Hurrah for every one going to the pub ? lal, kmp, sl ? I think trips to the pub should be free with our maternity prescriptions

Kmp my DH snoozes his alarm about 17 times too, and doesn?t get it when I suggest he?d feel more refreshed if he set it half an hour later an got extra uninterrupted sleep [cross]

Lal/ladyt just to clarify, we didn?t build our house, we paid builders to do it for us! And you get moved out of that caravan, cause its so blimming cold, even if the builders are still working on the house round you, all the walls are an attractive shade of bare plaster and all the floors are concrete.

Effie I have eczema and found aloe vera cream cleared it up and kept it away, despite reading just last week that it is totally ineffective for eczema. However I used it as an adult, so don?t know if its suitable for little babies skin. Hope it clears up, must be quite sore for the little lad

DH will be home at lunchtime today ? hurrah, only seen him briefly on Wednesday night this week, so we?re looking forward to having him back

LadyThompson · 06/03/2009 08:30

Morning all

Lal, I am sending you some virtual 'Resolve'...Yes, I absolutely loved living in Lancaster Gate/Bayswater. It was a very nice square indeed. But that place had to be sold after my husband died as he had kids from his first marriage. I would like to buy a flat in Cleveland Sq or somewhere nearby, instead of my current one in Maida Vale, but all things considered (including the fact that my London flat is a pied-a-terre now rather than a home ) that'll have to wait for few years...Futhermore, we in our building are hoping to buy the freehold, which will enable me to convert the loft above said small flat so it's worth hanging around for that. Not that I will have the money, as ALL my savings are going to have to be spent on doing up this new house I am buying. Oooh, it's like Property World on here, isn't it?

KMP, I think you were saying about B being in 25th centile. Well, my LO is ff and she is still only in 27th and I am not worried a jot. She looks quite chubby to me anyway and has a healthy appetite. When she was born she was only 6lb12 anyway, which is 25th, and she went down to 9th after she was born. I think you know if your baby isn't thriving and all this centile business just induces anxiety.

I saw the HV to get her weighed yesterday. How that woman annoys me. She was palpably disappointed when I didn't have any problems and kept trying to prompt me ("Yes, but is she THIS or is she THAT?"). Also, she very patronisingly said "Ooh, you've really got the idea now. I could tell you were unsure at first, perhaps a little unkeen." That is total rubbish and actually a bit hurtful. When I first saw her I was probably tired, recovering from my cs and a bit resentful at a) having to have this nosey woman in my house and b) annoyed at being dicked about by Oxfordshire Health Authority, because we were, but I wasn't 'unkeen' about my darling baby! DP doesn't want me to take DD there any more but I don't think one can just opt out If only. At least the practice nurse who does the jabs is lovely.

Off to Shropshire this weekend with a bunch of friends for a 50th. (He is a very cool 50 year old.) We go a few times a year as the birthday boy has a little country house there. It's a really nice part of the world and I always find it really relaxing to go. Bit of a Busman's Holiday now I actually live in the country full time! But it will still be great and evokes fond memories of doing my D of E bronze expedition (in Church Stretton...)

I have got an old copy of the Annabel Karmel Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner, if anyone wants one, by the way. I will pop it in the post so just let me know. Not that DD is anywhere near weaning, but I have been trying to read up.

In case I am not on again until Sunday night, have grand weekends all! Looking forward to hearing about your trip, Kayz.

kayzr · 06/03/2009 08:44

I have just remembered I took some pictures of DS2 before the camera was sent away. I have just added them to my profile.

I want my camera back!!

Turniphead1 · 06/03/2009 08:57

ladyT can you send me some of your virtual Resolve also? DH and I went out with some parents from DD1s class. We were a bit apprehenaive but it was great crack. Only rolled home at 10.45 (rather than 10) so DD2 was late being fed but she hadn't woken. Going for the 9am nap with her in a min!Hope DP's hair looks better today!

Lal - we could have been at Trinity together! DH and I were there 91-95! Love the fact that I have given birth to 3 plastic paddies...

ZJ your home project sounded fab.

OK - roaring crying, have to go and get DD down for nap and Mama too!

LadyThompson · 06/03/2009 09:15

Turnip, I am just glad it's not ME needing the Resolve I have been broadly good this week (I was cheerful on only one week night, and then only cheerful to the tune of about a glass and a half). Oh, er, and I had a glass when I was out for lunch yesterday. Hmm. I am glad you had a good time, I have just read a thread about how awful other women in the playground are and what a minefield it all is, so nice to hear it's not all doom and gloom...As for DP's hair, he has decided it actually looks quite nice But this is the man who tried to go out in flip flops yesterday (I actually went back to get some socks and boots for him). We have an ongoing dispute about 'summer shoes'. He wears nice boots in the winter (which is good and he has many pairs) but in the summer (or spring onwards) it all falls down as he only wants to wear flip flops or bad trainers or those funny things that are a cross between trainers and walking boots that geography teachers wear. He has offered to get some sandals (NO). So...if ANYONE can come up with stylish alternatives I would be grateful I want him to get some leathery sort of boat shoes but he thinks they are too public schoolboy Right, must go as DD has filled her nappy with something noxious.

Too many , I know

traceface · 06/03/2009 10:07

hello!

verso hope all goes well with the GP today. how was the hv?

I woke up with 2 eyelashes in my mouth this morning

Phoebe is rather puketastic. she did an enormous one in the night which resulted in fresh pjs for her and me, new sleeping bag for her and change of bedding for me! then she did another one this morning, still a happy soul though!

yesterday someone swapped my chilled out smiley baby for one who screams and frowns a lot, but they've swapped her back again today. phew

i was proud of myself last night! i put Phoebe to bed at 6.55, went down and started eating my tea and she started to cry - not really upset, just moany crying. i usually leap up at this point and put her dummy back in and settle her back down but i decided to wait until i'd finished my tea. i scoffed my pasta bake at lightening speed (7 mins!) and by the time i'd finished she'd settled herself to sleep! woo hoo!

this thread is making me realise I am completely ignorant on many matters...
I know nothing about...
interiors (Cheap paint from B+Q)

dogs (to me they are classified as big, small, fluffy, friendly looking, ugly...non of this knowing the names of breeds)

opera ( never been - my only live musical experiences have been seeing Shakin' Stevens and Jason Donovan)

cheerfulness (I don't drink - my cheer is entirely chocolate induced)

London (if it's south of Manchester then it's all one big area known as London. In my head you all live just a few streets from each other)

it appears I'm much more ignorant than I thought!

oh and Effie - dd1 had bad eczema and Epaderm was the answer for her (like Veggie said) - and she had to wear wraps on a night to keep the moisture in but it had a fab effect. And oilatum baths too. Good stuff. dd2 is getting dry so am starting with E45 but will go for Epaderm if it doesn't work.

Supercat - how are you today?

and new thread... how about "dec 08 - Nanny Anne's apprentices!"

traceface · 06/03/2009 10:11

A Nanny Anne title only with Turnip's approval of course.

kmp1 · 06/03/2009 10:21

since it's property ladder on here i'll add my bit! We spent 18 months revovating our henley flat all ourselves! Lived there the whole time, including when two walls were knocked through. Got very tired of living on a building site and very upset when I only got to use my new kitchen with Smeg range for 2 weeks but it was worth the hard work in the end and looked fabulous!
Only wish we could sell it now!
Also someone mentioned Corfe a while back as I went back to re-read somewhere - I once lived near there in Dorset - Lulworth Cove to be exact... It was lovely, but just a short 6 month job after a big trip back packing around Europe - and many years ago. Lovely area.
ladyt where again is your new house? Enjoy the 50th! Yes i'm not going to worry about the centiles etc... DH has assured me he isn't looking hungry!
I've been a bit too cheerful this week - but it did pull me out of my slump! The weather is nice today, but got to wait for the bloody Sky TV engineer

SummerLightning · 06/03/2009 10:39

Morning all!
LadyT the cheek of the HV saying you were "unkeen". My god.
WE had a lot of work done on our house since moving in, and I have to second whoever said get a good builder to oversee the project management. That's what we did, I have no idea how I would have been able to coordinate plumbers/plasterers, etc to turn up on the right days by myself with no contacts, etc. I am sure it cost more but it was worth it, especially as we were both working full time so coordinating ourselves would have been difficult even if we could have managed it.
I am also not being very restrained on the cheerfulness front either! Never mind!
Anyway I am putting off doing anything useful so I will go now and try and tidy up my tip of a house.

LadyThompson · 06/03/2009 10:40

I think that thread title would be lovely Trace And by the by, if we all liked the same things life wouldn't be half as interesting as it is, would it? Oh blimey, I hope I don't bore on about London too much but it's a passion of mine.

KMP, house is in Charlbury. Lulworth Cove is lovely, it was me banging on about Corfe. You see, there are tons of places I absolutely adore, not just the Big Smoke Sorry about your flat in Henley. It will go eventually, Henley is a very popular place.

I don't know the North very well, I must admit. Well, I know Sheffield a bit because of friends. I have been to Leeds quite a few times which I also like. And Kirkby Lonsdale and the lakes. But I don't know Liverpool, Manchester, the North East. Or Wales or Scotland (apart from Edinburgh and that's basically like England anyway, especially at Fringe time when all my mates are there). But I love the Midlands as that's where I am from (in fact on my Dad's side they have been there since the 17th Century): Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Staffs, the whole lot. Even Brum! A much maligned city in my opinion.

Right, Must.Stop.Mumsnetting.Now

kmp1 · 06/03/2009 10:51

"revovating"!!

kmp1 · 06/03/2009 11:41

Anyone know of a good change / nappy bag that doesn't look like a change bag, but more like a handbag if you know what I mean?

artichokes · 06/03/2009 11:58

Trace - that is a lovely idea for a thread title. Is Turnip still around or has she left for Dublin?

I am afriad I have no energy for a proper post. I woke up with a fever and sore breast and have been to GP who prescribed antibiotics for mastitis. I feel shivery and horrid and am in sole charge of both DDs. I am proud that I made myself give DD1 a run in the park on the way back from GP but now I need to hide under my ducat and I can't. It's pants timing as we have a busy weekend planned, it is meant to be full of cheerfullness.

artichokes · 06/03/2009 12:03

Sorry Supercat, we cross-posted. Those side effects sound nasty. Sorry that there is no miracle cure and I hope the other options bring success.
