honeymoon sorry I did not mean to sound funny when I said you very lucky re DH, I meant really I wished my DH did that He does help at bath time etc and sometimes helps with tea but his diet is naff so never a substantional meal! it must be hard for you when you used to DH being there then he is not. SOmetimes you feel like a single mum and it gets to me when DH leaves in the morn and we in pjs and comes home and we all putting them on again and its like we have been the same all day!

I am not sure re the feeding in the night, I stopped early and Phoebe just went back to sleep (with the help of a dummy!) Not sure about the rocking, it may become habit and she may only sleep when rocked, sorry I cant be helpful, hopefully someone else can help you.

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/03/2009 18:59

Sorry that you had a rubbish night too aubergenie. I've given up on the Amby altogether. I was wondering earlier whether it would help or hinder to move ds out of my bed and into his own room. There's absolutely no way that I could cope with the current number of wakes if I had to get up and go to another room for them, but if it would reduce the number of wakes then I'd hate not to try it. Decisions decisions...

It seems that some of you have working dh's who still do more than my currently non-working one . Mine is doing a bit more (but still not enough ) around the house now, but he would choose that over looking after ds any time. He says he doesn't know what to do with babies - he was the same with dd. He will change nappies no problem though. On the bright side, he is spending more time than ever before with dd, not least because he's sleeping with her!

Honeymoon - sounds perfectly normal to be concerned about stripping off, but you can rest assured that he won't give it a second thought (unless of course you turn up in crotchless panties and a peephole bra ).

Your mil sounds a little dopey jenwa. I wouldn't consider ham and yoghurt to be a full meal either.

hmm - I feed ds when he wakes at night. You're just hitting the 4 month growth spurt, so I would def roll with it at the moment, as she needs to get your supply up.

Jabs for ds tomorrow afternoon .
Have added some video of him laughing to the group. I adore laughing babies .

DH was lovely tonight and came back from work early and let me have a bath whilst he stayed downstairs with kids then they all piled up and got in the bath.
He sorted DD1 and made me dinner so was fab tonight

csws I love it when babies laugh too, they have such a chuckle. DD2 does it and it is just soooo cute. Will have a look at your video. Thanks re MIL, I was starting to wonder if I was missing something! As a result DD1 has not a nice poo today !Ham overload I think!

Good luck with jabs tomorrow csws DD had her today and I did give her some calpol earlier as she started to get warm. They did say that they usually react worse to the 2nd ones and 3rd ok, bless her she screamed though today and cried for ages, tears rolling down her cheeks and such a painful cry, horrible to hear

Honeymoonmummy · 02/03/2009 20:55

I didn't take offence Jenwa! I do take DH for granted and he is brill. Glad your DH looking after u tonight x

Thanks CSWS an thanks for comment on my FB photo, that's my fave, only taken the other day.

I've just added more pics to the group including our Vegas wedding

aubergenie · 02/03/2009 21:04

Glad it all went well yesterday Myjob!

Sorry to hear so many of us had terrible nights.

I was in a grump with dp this morning because I'd had such a crap night, but actually he's great with ds during the daytime when he's here. He also cooks and cleans a lot too. I know what you mean about needing a break Honeymoon. Sometimes I think you have to really make it clear what you need (or rather, I do). We seem to barter with each other for time, but it works most of the time!

Ooh, bargain of the day! I got a couple of silicone cake tins, one butterfly and one teddy bear from the 99p store. I can't wait to start making cakes with ds when he's a bit older.

nicewarmslippers · 02/03/2009 21:33

Thanks again all for all your comments about your dc's nights. ds last night was really good (for the first time in ages)-but of course then dd (aged 3) was up twice!

ahh yes cooking with them is such a joy. dd got really into washing up (well playing with water int he kicthen) really young (about as soon as she could stand). All these joys to come. I can see why mm's is thinking about number 3. I am broody again allready (sort of-its more like bieng sad he'll not be a baby for ever really but I know each stage is even more exciting!)

Ekka · 02/03/2009 21:43

Hi all - sorry its been so long, I'm desperately trying to catch up with everything, but struggling. I did request to join the facebook group (my fb initials are AH....). I hope that everyone's lo's are well?

We're ok here, Matthew's MRSA has cleared up and his head looks much more like a little baby's head rather than covered in 0.5cm of yellow crust! Mind you, its still got weepy bits and as a result of the scrubs we had to use all over him his eczema has flared up and he is red and itchy all over poor lad . So I'll be joining everyone on the dairy free diet as of tomorrow & we have another docs visit on Friday!

We had a good time at my parents, though we all came down with a D&V bug (except Matthew, so far), so it wasn't exactly relaxing! I'm shattered as Matthew is still feeding every 2 hours day and night. I'm not sure whether its related to a growth spurt (though he seems to have been doing this for months) or whether its because his eczema is disturbing him..... But no plans to start weaning yet as I'm dreading the hassle!

Ok, I'm off to catch up with the rest of the posts....

Oh god Ekka, you put me right off my bran flakes then! Good to hear the MSRA has cleared up.

Have you been DF before Ekka? I've been surprised by how easy it's been.

Ekka · 02/03/2009 22:04

By the way, is anyone with older dcs finding the baby stuff harder this time round? I'm struggling with the whole night waking and really longing for him to sleep through/be able to entertain himself for more than 5 mins, etc etc.... I feel a bit as if I'm wishing this stage away, which is sad as I do love his smiles and cuddling with him when he's happy. I don't remember it getting to me quite as much last time round (but that may be selective memory )

Ekka · 02/03/2009 22:09

Sorry hmm .... It was revolting I have to say! On the plus side, when I wanted a table in a restaurant all I had to do was pick up ds and the place cleared . I started to go dairy free before we found out about the MRSA, but then stopped while we dealt with that as I thought I had enough on my plate at that time!

Must go to bed as I'm shattered. I was supposed to be moving out of ds's room last night but dh came down with this bug, so I'm still sleeping in the nursery till at least tomorrow. Maybe by moving back to my room it will help him sleep longer between feeds [hopeful emoticon]?

Marthasmama · 02/03/2009 22:32

So glad everything's ok with DS Ekka! M had a hideous yellow scab covering her scalp too but she had so much hair it didn't notice. We put eczema cream on her head and the whole thing lifted off. It was disgusting! Lumps kept coming off. Urgh! Yes I do know what you mean about wishing for the next stage. I want her to be mobile so she wears herself out more! I am enjoying m more than I enjoyed DS as a baby though.

M won't go to sleep. She's still awake now!

Honeymoonmummy · 02/03/2009 22:42

Ooh look, we're on page 38 already! Hope you've got that spreadsheet polished up CSWS!

CherryChoc · 03/03/2009 00:16

Oh, hello everyone, I have missed out about 20 pages and just read the last few, hope you don't mind!

Ryan seems to have come through the growth spurt (it was about 2-3 weeks I think?) thankfully. I don't know why I'm not in bed though - NCT people are all coming to mine tomorrow, and I haven't quite finished tidying. I am feeling very disorganised.

My DP is rubbish. He barely ever seems to want to hold Ryan and I practically have to force him to change nappies - he does about one a week if I can be bothered to nag enough? The problem I think is I can't help criticising. I got better with the nappies and bite my tongue now but I can't just ignore him when he is sitting watching TV with Ryan on his knee screaming, or if he is just bouncing him up and down/trying to shove a dummy in his mouth saying "Shut up FFS!" He says he is stressed due to lack of sex

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/03/2009 07:31

CC - since you're right there, can you remind me of your stats for the new thread please?

MM - can I have yours too please?

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 03/03/2009 07:36

Ekka - I'm actually finding the baby stuff easier this time (dd was an exceptionally difficult baby though), but am finding dealing with dd and her constant jealousy/tiredness/stroppiness very hard.

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 03/03/2009 07:41

Of course CSWS - Due Oct 17th, born 9th Oct by elect C-section, Martha 7lb 10. Is that all you need? I am finding the baby stuff easier, but because I am so looking forward to the fun bits, the talking, the walking proper cuddles, baby kisses.

We had a bad night for us, still not a bad night in the great scheme of things. M would NOT go to sleep. It took four and a half hours to get her into bed, then she woke up four times in the night. I am shatter, typical that this happens when DH is away. I could NEVER be a single parent, it is so so hard!

aubergenie · 03/03/2009 07:45

Great news about MRSA Ekka. Not so great about the D&V. You poor things! Good luck with the dairy free diet. How?s yours going Honeymoon (and I think there was someone else who just started. MM was it you? Sorry)? How long does it normally take before you can start to notice a difference?

It might be worth trying ds in his own room CSWS. I know what you mean though about getting up for all those night wakings. I can?t even bear getting up and going to the Amby next to the bed, never mind another room. The trouble is I think you need to feel reasonably OK to actually start something like that and see it through. Could you start it one weekend and rope dh into helping out as well?

We had a very slightly better night last night ? around 6 wakings. Ds woke at around 11 for a feed and seemed to think it was play time. He was squawking, squealing and laughing his head off! I couldn?t get him to calm down for ages. I was desperate to go to sleep. It?s a bloody good job they make them cute isn?t it.

Hello again Cherrychoc. Sorry to hear your dp?s not much help. It must be hard for you not getting that support and it would drive me mad if my dp spoke to my child like that. No wonder he?s suffering from lack of sex!

star6 · 03/03/2009 08:22

at dp cc! I agree with aubergenie, that would put me off, too.
We've only had sex once since Q was born and I already said, it was horrible. We do "other things" to keep dh satisfied, but I'm still totally disinterested (but don't show that of course).

star6 · 03/03/2009 08:26

We've never had crusty scalp here... a few times I noticed it was a bit dry, so I put a light bit of baby oil on his head overnight and it was fine (as a preventative measure). I don't know how we got so lucky! Knock on wood that it doesn't appear... this afternoon! That would be just our luck

star6 · 03/03/2009 08:46

has everyone moved to a new thread??

Honeymoonmummy · 03/03/2009 11:05

Yes we've all moved Star, why are you still on this one???

DF is going well Aubergenie, no drastic change to Poppy yet altho I don't seem to be doing as much laundry...

Sorry CherryChoc but your DP's excuse did make me laugh!

We only had one feed during the night between 9.30pm and 7am so I feel FANTASTIC today!! We went to the cranial yesterday after 10 days, normally weekly so I'm wondering if that has something to do with the interrupted nights and now sleeping through? It will be interesting to see what her weight is like on Thurs.

DH is off work today and he's finally catching up with his work so I get to spend some time with him this afternoon!

We are thinking of going away somewhere in the UK for Easter, anyone got any suggestions for something fairly cheap but easy for Poppy? I'm thinking maybe a cottage in the Lakes.

Does anyone have a double buggy? I'm getting a new car to try out today and a friend got me thinking that if I do have another quite close I may need a double buggy. Are they much bigger than the standard travel system? The travel system we have only just fits lengthways into our golf boot.

aubergenie · 03/03/2009 11:38

HMM - A friend of mine had a double buggy and it was a beast! We tried to go out for coffee once and couldn't get in anywhere because it was too wide. She couldn't even get it into our flat. Apparently it's only as wide as a wheelchair, so it really gave me an insight on what it must be like to be a wheelchair user. I think hers was particularly large though. Other people I know who've got 2 littlies have those Phil and Teds, but my friend didn't like the idea of the baby being so close to the ground.

I'm desperate to go away somewhere! The Lakes would be lovely. How about Dorset? We went down there last year and it was beautiful. We booked a place with Helpful Holidays. The advantage about going south is that you're more likely to get some good weather. I can't remember where you are though, so it might be too far.

I'm trying to decide whether I can be bothered to go to Ikea and have a look at that cheap high chair. I always plan to whizz in and whizz out again and somehow still seem to lose an entire day!
