After yet another sleep deprived night I had to include the sleeping thing! By the end of this thread maybe I will sleep through the night too!

Thanks for the new thread sbbp

Back to work on Monday whoever asked (can't remember)

Can't remember anything else, and really must wash uniform before then

pureeandpearls · 31/01/2009 09:47

Confident you will Sponge- IME nursery completely exhausts them! Babypearls goes one day a week and we pay £214 per month. I think that they'd be happy to do the split-shift thing but the problem would be making sure they had space. (Babyp has been on the waiting list since I was six months pregnant.) I mention this only in case the argument is useful in fighting against spit-shift. If not, please ignore!

pureeandpearls · 31/01/2009 09:48

x-post HH- will be thinking of you on Monday.

spongebrainbigpants · 31/01/2009 09:56

Thanks P&P, I don't want to work split weeks so will keep quiet!

I had hoped that the crawling would exhaust him but nothing doing! Keep hoping . . . . !

Back to our usual rubbish night last night. Lost count of how many wake ups. Probably 5+.

Thanks for the thread Sponge. Re Monday, I think snow is forcast so I will keep an eye on the weather before heading over your way. Should put this on email I know, but I am feeling lazy .

HH enjoy your weekend. Will be thinking of you on Monday. In fact I think there are quite a few going back this week (Amber). Good luck all of you.

Quiet day today. Tomorrow I am having lunch with a colleague who is my work bf to find out the lowdown about what has been going on. I feel very removed from work at the moment, although my boss sent me an email for the first time yesterday with an announcement that one of the big cheeses is "stepping down". I think some changes are afoot.

SW London ladies: yesterday I went to RHS gardens at Wisley j10 on m25/a3 for a walk. Maybe we should meet up there sometime. They had lots of exotic butterflies in their glasshouses this week. It was good to walk round even though I had to carry Peter because it was too crowded to take buggies inside. He really is too heavy to carry for more than a few minutes. He wasn't terribly bothered by the butterflies but did like the fans on the ceiling . I am even considering taking out annual membership of the RHS, which would finally confirm me as properly middle aged

spongebrainbigpants · 31/01/2009 11:00

Ali, no worries just let me know on Monday.

My parents love Wisley (just to add to your feelings of middle age! ). But the carrying thing would put me off too - us mummies of big babies have to think of our backs!

Sorry to hear of rubbish night .

At last, I have managed to put Peter's second video on our blog. You need to scroll down a little from James's "sabotage" post. What he says isn't true: he is always welcome to post, but this is the first time he has shown any interest.

LOL Sponge, I have been fighting middle age since I was about 17 I think. I have to admit that I do quite like being in my thirties.

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 31/01/2009 12:27

Paro Your move sounds very exciting! Will you work when you get there or have an opportunity to stay at home.

Still having bad nights here!

Really prod of DS this week and shmaefully showing off Within the space of a week he has leart to cralw forwards, pull himself to standing, cruise around the sofa and do a few steps with his walker. I'm amazed he has learnt to do it all so quickly!

whinegums · 31/01/2009 14:15

Hiya, just adding to my threads I'm on. Still trying to get used to new look mumsnet - not v keen on the redesign so far... Oh well.

Special hello to Mooocow birthday buddy.

5 - my niece (10 weeks older than B, so getting on for 10 months now) doesn't sit either. The doc checked her out, especially her hips, and she's fine - maybe just a bit too laid back! B can sit for a little while unaided now, but really not long.

Goingtohaveagoodnightssleep (what is the shortened form of your name?!) - well done to DS, must admit, I am dreading B being able to move much further than he can now - bad enough with the rolling off!

poppy34 · 31/01/2009 17:22

just marking this thread (thanks sponge and here is hoping sleep gets better for you ).

5 - edie not keen on sitting up ..much prefers rolling about and can't do it unsupported without lurching forward. Only just got a tooth but its 50:50 in NCT - some of them have more than one and some have none...

Not sure about hte new look m/n

PiggyPenguin · 31/01/2009 17:47

Motly marking my place on new thread, but J hasn't got any teeth either. He does sit well but can only crawl a little and only backwards, does pull himself up and loves his feet though!

Amberc · 31/01/2009 20:18

Hi all. Five Luke has no teeth - he laughs in the face of teeth. I feel he will still be teething at primary school! Saying that I met up with PP today and Ryder's got two top and bottom and they are super sharp, like little razor blades!

Going - wow!!!!! Luke's still going backwards in his attempts at crawling bless him.

I have lost the plot on the thread as I haven't been able to catch up on the pages so apols if i've missed stuff out.

I am on day 5 of having hardly any sleep and I am exhausted. Typical child that it is the week before I go back to work but I know that these phases stop as quickly as they start so will not allow myself to get too disheartened.

abdnhiker · 31/01/2009 21:33

oohh! g2hagns Is this our first pulling up to standing baby? Fraser's a long way away from that here! Oh wait, just saw that sybil's J is doing that too! How exciting.

Fraser went swimming today (as did we all) and loved it. We ran into a friend of Duncan's at the pool and they all had a blast. If only the whole changing experience wasn't such a hassle!

amber hugs! It's not fair that you're not getting sleep this week when you could probably use it most... I'm impressed you're managing to be reasonably calm about it.

I am so not calm these days - super hormonal. DH is keeping a wide berth and let me spend £10 on very expensive chocolates to try to improve my mood. I hope this is a phase for me, but we've dramatically decreased the number of daily breastfeeds (from 8 to 5) so I'm guessing my body's just all screwed up.

Essie thought of you - we are now feeding Fraser the Hipp bedtime drink (I think Amber mentioned it) each night from a cup and we've found that we can get 3oz into him using a spoon - you've probably tried that with Iestyn for the EBM though....

DebInAustria · 31/01/2009 21:34

Thanks for starting the thread Sponge

Five - have a lovely guest free weekend, we've got 14 in, but not noisy students.thankfully

josey · 31/01/2009 21:34

.....or just being completely akward like Olivia addition to thread title!!!

Thanks for the wishes re my Mum she is ok though must have been in utter melt down as she undid her seat belt to fall to her handbag so she could get her phone.....not to phone 999 but to call work and say she couldnt open up......when the firemen turned up they urgently cut cables so it didnt blow and she just wanted to make sure all the kids toys were out the car

5gomad my DD1 got her 1st tooth 5days short of 9months....dont knock it the later for coming in the longer they last!!

AH I have worked 5mornings twice, 1st was 9-1 which was great, after Rhianna I worked 10-2 which worked out well for school run for Kyle CM drop off/pick up and back to the school.......totally crap for anything else though.

Our other DCs were away last night and Oli had the worst night she has had in ages, worst of it was she slept all day, I had to bath her this morning as she was sick in her hair and she slept through that, slept through shopping only woke at 3pm whats the odds of her sleeping tonight?

DebInAustria · 01/02/2009 07:02

did she sleep josey?

ethan has learnt the weekend trick of waking up earlier than in the week. when i have to get up he sleeps late but not today - typical.

Amberc · 01/02/2009 08:24

Well it is official. This is the worst week of baby sleeping since newborn - actually that wasn't too bad as we just fed him and he went back to sleep when he was born but last night he woke at 1 then 2 and then from 4am he wouldn't settle at all. i did try to take him in with me like some people on the thread do but he slept for 30 mins and then woke up. He has a cold but he's slept through them before and it's not that bad. Dunno what it is but I am struggling to type this. We tried leaving him to cry - didn't work after an hour! We tried feeding him with Calpol mixed with milk - walking up and down, you name it! I don't know what i am going to do next week at work. Hopefully they will go easy on me but I don't want to go in and immediately say the baby's been up all night so excuse my being crap. What a disaster. He was sleeping from 11 till 5 for weeks before. Fecking typical. [SAD]

Amberc · 01/02/2009 08:25

PS the night nanny is in Tenerife otherwise we'd get her round like a shot.

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 01/02/2009 09:39

Josey and Amber sorry to hear about the bad nights. amber I hope you get at least one good night before starting work.

No teeth here either but DD1 was 11 months and DD2 13 months so not holding my breath. The all came in very quickly after the first one and didn't cause much trouble so hoping for the same again please!

Rolf · 01/02/2009 12:12

I'll join the no-sleepers. Thea wasn't too bad but DD1 was awful and woke Thea (and everyone else) up . My period has started - first one in 16 months - and I could really have done with a good sleep. I couldn't even get downstairs to get some painkillers as there was such hysterical pandemonium from the girls. DH was grossed out enough (so heavy, darling, and clotty") to be "persuaded" to take DD1 out to rugby with him and DS1. So I'm sitting here with DS2 making a pyramid out of modelling clay and DD2 is asleep. I never ever ever do crafts with my children so will brag at every opportunity .

That cream has really helped Thea's leg. So glad it's clearing up.

I've forgotten what I was going to post to people individually..sorry...will have another look.

abdnhiker · 01/02/2009 13:38

Amber I promise that the week before you go back to work is worse than the week you're there... Hope you get some sleep though!

Josey yes, I'm hoping to switch to school-run hours in a couple years too. It may not be ideal but if we don't have to pay for after-school care it'll be worth it...

abdnhiker · 01/02/2009 13:39

oh and we can't really join the non-sleepers as Fraser's been okay recently but we're still only getting one five hour stretch at nights. A woman at church today saw how tired we looked and promised that it gets easier - not "these are the best years of your life" but "I'm glad I'm passed that stage!". Her youngest is 10.

josey · 01/02/2009 13:48

Yes she slept went to bed at 8pm amuzed herself till gone 10pm and I put her pump on and that was her till 10am

Also very proud mummy I had her on her tummy across my tummy in bed this morning with her knees on the bed and she rolled over and sat down 3 times

Then she sat on my Knee without me holding on with her head right up for what seemed like ages, her head is still so heavy for her to support for any lenght of time, but when it does bob forward she picks it straight back up........Im starting to feel a true glimmer of hope

Amber my other DCs went through a spell of that about 8months, it makes it so much worse when they have slept you seem so much more exhausted.......I think if I remember its an attention faze so the less you give the quicker they go to sleep as its boring

ROLF PMSL I have a vision of you DH turning green and pulling a man face while running out the door with 2 children

Do you think we can work out a sleeping spell?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 01/02/2009 13:50

Woo hoo

DD slept until 8.30, DS until 6.45 then had a bottle and went back to sleep until 9.30. I didn't get out of bed until then.
