New home!

So sorry neenz. It's not surprising you are feeling low under the circumstances, babies (even lovely ones!) are hard work at the best of times, let alone when you're dealing with something like this and could probably just do with some space and time to yourself to come to terms with what's going on. Glad writing it down helped, we are all thinking of you and your family.

systemsaddict · 03/02/2009 16:48

That's shocking Five. Can you ring them and try and negotiate it down a bit? Especially as it wasn't your fault. Some may remember I did a ludicrous pregnancy-brain bank error and went overdrawn with charges last spring, the bank cut the charges in half for me once I explained the circumstances - and that was my fault.

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 03/02/2009 16:49

NEENZ I'm not suprised you are feeling low at the moment. I go through stages when I am really fed up of being at home and yes it is like ground hog day.

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 03/02/2009 16:51

Five WHich bank charged you so much. I had a Natwest account and they were total bastards when I was overdrawn.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/02/2009 17:28

Tried as well, will go in and see them in the bank next week.

ahedgehogisHibernating · 03/02/2009 18:46

5 I dealt with my first request for charges back at work today and unfortunately had to refer them to Head Office, but I agree that they (banks) can be unpleasant to deal with.

neenz hope you are feeling better soon, and hope things settle down with your grandmother

deb I only had a chance to express once at work today and realised once I got in the car to come home I had actually leaked onto my top, luckily had seen no customers.

ernest good to hear from you again. Isaac has only recently started rolling (2 weeks ago) so Adele is just on target.

Really don't know how long I am going to be able to stick full time work. Even day two and I am dreading going in tomorrow.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/02/2009 19:07

HH didn't realise you can be on the end of rants, must be very difficult for you. I suppose we are lucky in that yes we can afford it (don't want to) but no wonder people are getting into so much trouble if this the amount they charge.

ahedgehogisHibernating · 03/02/2009 19:55

5 working in a branch you get everything because people don't like calling 0845/0870 numbers so you have to deal with everything and I have been since I picked up the phone at about 9.45 yesterday morning. Scarily it is like riding a bike - you don't really forget. It all has just slipped back into place

neenztwinz · 03/02/2009 19:59

HH, sorry work is so rubbish - is it your employer or your circs that mean you have to work full-time?

Sorry for moaning about being at home with my two. I feel better now, thanks all for helping me realise this is a difficult time so no wonder I am low. I was worried I was hating being a mum. I have loved it up to now so is a shock to start thinking that it is all too much like hard work. Dealing with the two could test anyone's patience at times I am sure!

5, hope you have some luck with the bank. In those circs I would expect them to let you off at least a bit.

ahedgehogisHibernating · 03/02/2009 21:08

neenz employer rejected request for flexible working, although having looked at the policy I don't know if they did it correctly. So am constantly looking for a new job, but very little out there for a P/T mortgage advisor

neenztwinz · 03/02/2009 21:15

Yeah I remember now HH. Sorry . You should appeal. It can;t hurt. More info on appealinghere

neenztwinz · 03/02/2009 21:19

Why are people on MN so annoying? I asked about tap covers in Products cos I am now thinking of times in the day when I have to leave the DTs on their own eg before bathtime when I get their stuff ready, so when they start to crawl I can make stuff safe. I am not babyproofing the whole house or any of it really cos downstairs we have a safe half of one room cordoned off, but upstair it will be more tricky. Anyway I asked about tap covers and some snotty cow comes on and says 'we never had them in my day and we survived - it's all a bit OTT' Was she a twin??? Does she have twins??? Don't fecking tell me what's OTT!!!

Try that instead

pureeandpearls · 03/02/2009 21:32

Neenz
Am absolutely hopping about that stupid woman's comments- you know you are in trouble when someone says "each to their own!"

HH- so so sorry it's so hard. Keeping fingers crossed that something will come along soon. If not, there's a very nice TTC thread....

5- bloody annoying. DH has got some of his charges back successfully so hope you can too!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/02/2009 21:34

Neenz - I really would do some of your cupboards unless you are planning to keep your cleaning products out of reach.

ahedgehogisHibernating · 03/02/2009 21:44

P&P which TTC thread? I find them all a bit scary to be honest.

neenz my mum used to say the same - never had those in my day, could just use terry squares but since using all my different cloth nappies she is a convert, so you have to do what you think is best for your children.

sorry bit random there

neenztwinz · 03/02/2009 21:49

LOL HH, I think it was a joke about you getting PG again!

Hi 5, we have a massive kitchen and I have cordoned off a large corner of it (about 12ft x 15ft - honest it is about the same size a some people's actual kitchen) with a babydan room divider so they will be in there when they are downstairs - away from the cupboards! Will bear it in mind though when they start moving.

ahedgehogisHibernating · 03/02/2009 21:57

neenz am seriously considering number 2 already, was hoping for an 18 month age gap so need to have number 2 Nov - Jan which means some serious ..... well you know

neenztwinz · 03/02/2009 22:01

HH, I was thinking of doing that too - getting PG straight away after going back to work, but I think that would be a bit crazy with twins already! I thought I could go back full-time for just a few months and then have full mat pay again... but thought better of it. I haven;t even had a period yet anyway

I wrote my letter requesting flexible working today (well, an email).I was going to write in it that I was planning to get Pg again (thinking they would be glad to get me down to one day a week then) but I didn;t in the end, just said all my wages would go on childcare so what's the point in that?? Spouted a load of bollocks about how my job is very important to me blah blah (I just don;t want to do it )

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/02/2009 22:06

TTC threads are very friendly.

ahedgehogisHibernating · 03/02/2009 22:09

neenz - am v of no periods, I got mine back when Isaac was 4 months and ex BF. If I put my manager head on I can see why they rejected the request - vvv small branch, only 4 staff, team unity v important. However my manager and area manager seem to be robotic - don't seem to understand how hard it is for me to leave DS, and they are both parents and pg due within a week of each other in May, so yet more upheaval then for me as well. Would just like 18ish hours a week doing something boring like admin or clerical within 10 miles of home - sure I am not asking too much.

Right must go to bed now, Have to take Isaac to childminder and then go onto work tomorrow as opposed to being dropped at work and then Isaac being taken my DH/DM.

Hope everyone has better nights - sending lots of lovely sleepy vibes to all the babies [zzzz]

neenztwinz · 03/02/2009 22:14

Yeah me and G43 (as she was) hung out on the TTC boards together. They are a bit tense cos everyone is so desperate (I was anyway!) but very friendly.

HH, will they not even advertise for someone to job-share with you just to see what interest there is? I would have thought it is the least they can do. The bastards. Hope tomorrow goes better.

DebInAustria · 03/02/2009 22:16

Any more news about your Nan Neez?

neenztwinz · 03/02/2009 22:23

It's not good Debs. Thanks for asking . I was there today and we think she had a little stroke in her sleep - she woke up slurring her words. It was very upsetting and I was very low this afternoon. But she has asked to be sedated now (a blessing) and will be moved to paliative care soon where hopefully she will pass away quite quickly in her sleep. That's the best we can hope for. I am feeling a bit better (just feel selfish really for being upset when it is her who is suffering) and I am feeling more positive about looking after the twins now too.
