well it seems i'm on a roll here tonight. i just received "the call". my grandmother has taken "the turn". hospice has been established for her care. they give her a week or so. tried phoning my brat of a db. he wouldn't answer his WORK cell phone! against my better judgement i left him a brief but detailed message regarding the situation. ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

so if i disappear for a few days, it's not because i don't like the new leopard skin rug.

morning

ts to hear about your grandmother {{hugs}}

ooops hope your traumatised boob is on the mend

I'm up and about on schedule today - got ds up at 7am as per the New Me. I live in hope that the 'routine' of up at 7am and bedtime routine for bed at 7pm will one day affect the number of times ds wakes in the night. I wont bore you with the details, suffice to say I need not have bothered going to bed last night.

Just realised I missed the mn book club discussion after actually managing to complete the set book in time

wish they'd hurry up and get that confused emoticon up and running, that's my fav one to add to texts ps would be scared to txt any of you if you dont like txt spk!! (pps I make mine up so it's even more confusing) [ppps I like the freedom from apostrophes in txts ]

Morning all.
Orders up we have....
Hot croissant
Hot pain au chocolat
Red fruits special K - but it is a new packet so all the red fruit at the bottom so really just rice flakes
White sliced with homemade jam (MIL made jam) - apricot flavour (Again jam not MIL)
Fresh coffee
Tea
Juice.

A good night Chez Steaky - Iz settled easily enough and asleep for good at 7, one feed at 1.30 and then not a sound until 6.45. la la la.

Steaknife · 29/01/2009 08:10

Sorry didn't mean to come over all smug, just enjoying the feeling of looking at the alarm clock when Iz woke for a second time and realising that it said 6.45 and not 3.30.

Sam stick with the up at 7 down at 7 - it works for us. Having said that Iz doesn't really have regular wake up times in the night - sometimes it is once and sometimes it is twice.

TS - sorry for your nan, a hospice is a very good place for her to be and hopefully will make these last few days more manageable and less stressful for you and your family.

Steaknife · 29/01/2009 08:15

Got to go, sounds like Iz has decided half an hour IS long enough to count as a nap.

Sibh · 29/01/2009 09:02

Matchsticks and strong coffee for you Sambo.
Try to nap today if that's ok.

TS-sorry to hear that news.

Kev-would you take a toddler as payment? Her voicebox is stuck on 'I don't WANT too', but I'm sure her sunny disposition could be restored with a bit of work.

TS Instructions for tricolour couscous please (or does it come like that from the shop?) Good luck with your family negotiations over the next few weeks btw.

Steaky that is clearly one nasty bully with issues about strong ladies (not to say your friend wasn't one but he's obviously ground her down to suit himself). Definitely set barrister bruv on him, he needs a good scare.

Yay, Kurt slept 10-6 last night. But DS1 woke at midnight covered in puke, he's fine now of course - same thing happened on Saturday, v strange.

7 Daily Sins still on track chez Bouquets and in fact last night proved the whole point of the exercise as DH was so shattered but we ended up having a right old giggle and chat after (and during).

cyteen · 29/01/2009 11:02

morning all

sad to report that we are made of fail chez cyteen as far as the 7 daily sins are concerned...both too knackered (as usual) although tbf there is a lot going on at the moment that is taking up a lot of time energy. had planned to take a deliberate early night together tonight but remembered this morning that i've got a fecking driving lesson at 8pm was really looking forward to a night off.

never mind, at least had a lovely 1.5 hour nap with DS this morning, totally flaking out of baby massage snuggling with my boy seemed much more important.

back soon - nappy emergency

Miamla · 29/01/2009 11:14

morning all

ts, sorry to hear about your grandma

steak, you can do breakfast again!

Miamla · 29/01/2009 11:52

my DP is wonderful He got up early this morning to give me my cards (he remembered to help DS chose and write one) and make me tea in bed! This may not sound like much but (a) he rarely remembers to get me a bday card (b) he will do everything he possibly can to get an extra minute in bed!

he is also a little barmy! for breakfast this morning i had a bowl of "lucky charms" (one of my pressies). Its an american cereal that selfridges imported and sell at a crazy £7.50 a box!! quite disturbingly, there are blue marshmallows in it that dyed the milk!

i'm now playing birthday baby bowling...

  1. arrange bday cards on the floor in a pattern of your choosing
  2. put baby on floor 3.5 metres away from cards
  3. release baby and smile at his determination to knock down all of the cards!
Buckets · 29/01/2009 11:56

Aaah, perhaps you could suggest a hot bath and a well-fed baby waiting for you when you come back from driving lesson? A glass of wine and a chat in the bathroom is better than nothing.

On that subject, my new bathroom plan is back on, yay. Well, the Wickes sale ends next week so my Dad is buying all the bits and storing them at his house til DH does a bit of plastering and we can afford a fitter. Whole new suite (double ended bath - best investment in the world!), vanity basin, mirrored cabinet, shower and shower door for £650. The spare pedestal basin is going to a friend so that's my good deed done for the year.

TwilightSurfer · 29/01/2009 12:03

Happy Birthday MIAMLA!!!!!!!!!!!! The disco party yesterday was FAB! Jetting home I could still hear the sweet sweet sounds of Boogie Oogie Oogie playing in my head. Will remember it always.

Buckets, yep, it comes that way from the store...like tri colored rotini. Tastes the same just looks prettier on the plate.

Glad most of you seem to have had a good night. Reese followed suit. She such a perfect child most days. DD1 slept well too. She only got up when I got up to leave for Boot Camp. Gave her organic chocolate milk and CHEETOS because she said she was hungry (mind you i was in a hurry). Then let her crawl into my bed since I wasn't going to be there anyway.

Thanks for the kind words. Most you know it's been a long time coming so we are all prepared. The quicker she passes the sooner she'll be completely free. Alzheimers is CRUEL!

Today marks the MIDPOINT of my BOOT CAMP experience. WOO HOO! There's a chance the same drill instructor will be offering another session immediately following this one. I'm considering continuing on. I've also be offered the chance to take a semi-private pilates class with a very good friend. She's waiting on the call back now from the instructor but it all goes well that will be two days a week (not conflicting with my boot camp times, of course). I must say, I wish I had been this active following the birth of dd1. I fell into such a rut after her birth, even a little depressed. This time round I feel great (with only one little exception ).

Now off to get the fam up and out the door. Tis morning!!

Ya'll have a GREAT DAY!

TwilightSurfer · 29/01/2009 12:06

Miamla...LUCKY CHARMS!!! Now that's a TOTALLY AWESOME BREAKFAST. Red hearts, yellow moons, green clovers, blue diamonds (i think that's right)!!!!! As a child I was bad about just eating the marshmellows and leaving the cereal.

AnnVan · 29/01/2009 12:10

hello all.
ts sorry to hear about your gran. hopefully the care at the hospice will make these last few days easier for her and the whole family.

Miamla* happy birthday!!!

cyteen · 29/01/2009 12:55

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIAMLA!

TS sorry to hear about your gran, wishing you all strength and peace to her in her last days.

Buckets am rather of your new bathroom suite. double ended baths do rock, we used to rent a place that had one. spent many an evening in there as the rest of the house was so bloody cold!

like your idea re. this evening, will email DP forthwith

DP was on the phone to his folks last night and apparently my MIL reckons that Joe is ready for food because "he's sucking the life out of [me])" Now before you all raise up the pitchforks, I should clarify that I love my MIL to bits and she's really lovely, so I don't take any offence at this comment whatsoever, but it did make me laugh.

Buckets · 29/01/2009 13:13

LOL, your DP will be gobsmacked I bet, men have no clue how much we get out of such a little thing like that. They're all about the big gesture (thinking all those brownie points can be carried forward - Ha!).

sambo303 · 29/01/2009 13:52

happy birthday miamla

very of your thoughtful dp - I got up on my birthday last month to be asked, do you want me to go get you a card and present? erm...no, the moment has passed

alittlebitshy · 29/01/2009 17:32
