Think DS must have missed that particular section of babiesnet...shite night here for real, serious teething issues combined with insane hunger led to the whole works - screaming wake-up at 8.30pm (god bless Calpol), fruitless 45 minute attempt to settle without feeding at 11pm, so then feeding at midnight, 2am, 4am which last was also accompanied by leaky nappy...at this point DP got up and (at my request) took him downstairs for a few hours. Haven't had to resort to that since he was tiny!

It's probably cabin fever from having spent all but one day of this week indoors, but am going a bit mental from never having any reasonable stretch of time to myself. 40 minutes naps in the day, 2-3 hours waking in the night...I had to ask DP to take him off this morning just so I could have a few hours sleep without the underlying knowledge that I had to be on the alert and get up when called, iyswim.

Bring on the hen weekend.

Oh, and DP's interviews went well, thanks for asking Sibh Fingers crossed now - he will hear back next week. Trying not to get hopes up.

Love the hair Ann, I'm still dithering about mine but that is a fantastic look - well done for making the jump.

oopsacoconut · 06/02/2009 10:58

Sazzles - How is DD1's rash now?

Cyteen - Sorry to hear you have had a rubbish night, hope you manage to get some sleep whilst the boys are out.

ataraxis · 06/02/2009 11:06

lol sambo, DH did it already, which is how I heard about the 'lmb' in the first place. I just sat there and went 'oh look, we have no satellite reception

cyteen, sorry you had a bad night.

How do I get DS2 to leave DD alone? He actually said to me earlier, 'well, if she is on the floor I am allowed to stand on her' !

Have also realised I am (for the first time) going to have to babyproof as previously we didn't really have lego, magnetix, dice and a multitude of items made specifically to choke a baby lying around on the floor...

ataraxis · 06/02/2009 11:07

LNB even - see?

oopsacoconut · 06/02/2009 11:14

DD is driving me nuts this morning - everytime I leave the room I may as well have gone to China - she screams blue murder and has huge tears running down her cheeks! She is now in her door bouncer blowing rasberries at the cat - who has learnt to run away from her since yesterday's ear sucking incident.

I have to confess Ataraxis if that was said to me the response would have been - so that means if you/your lego/magnetix are on the floor I am allowed to stand on you/lego/magnetix. I worked occasionally when I was at work but then I was apparently a mean nanny.

rotterpotter · 06/02/2009 11:17

Wow Ann your hair looks fantastic, you were very brave

Sazzles it's already so picturesque where you live even without a blanket of snow, it must make you want to pop looking out of the window today tempered slightly by the lack of heating

Yay for the slow improvement in some babies' sleep, empathy and matchsticks for those of still left on the bad sleeper sofa. DS up at 11, 3, 5, 6.30 last night so have had worse but have had better too . Getting really grumpy, when oh when will my boy ever sleep through????????

Well DS is 26 weeks today, and did such a good job of chewing my gardeners world magazine yesterday that I decided to give him some food . Tried him with a chunk of banana which he gummed, bit a little piece off then spat out. He looked interested though so I mushed some in a bowl, gave him a couple of spoons but he gurned and really didn't like it. Then proceeded to throw up all his milk too . So that didn't go according to plan! Not sure what to do, whethwer to try him with something else this afternoon or leave it a couple of days before another attempt. Babies eh

poppysocks · 06/02/2009 11:21

Sorry to hear about your rubbish night cyteen. Know exactly what you mean about being on standby all time. Definitely the thing I find hardest, overall, about this parenting malarkey.

DD1 under the weather here. Hot head but nothing else obvious yet....

AnnVan · 06/02/2009 11:23

Thanks ladies!! I like it too. Didn't really take much courage to get it done, I've always preferred short hair anyway.

Good to hear about some good nights. to cyteen and Joe.
We had a decent night her - two wakeups, but Seb was easily resettled with a dummy both times.

Cyteen what nappy were you using last night.

sazzles glad you're surviving the cold. Fingers crossed you get your oil soon.

No snow here. Tis all gone.

PetitFilou1 · 06/02/2009 11:25

Right am going to kill all my children minus one (guess which one - it isn't hard)

There is a major whingefest going on and when it isn't whingeing it is shouting

dh will be home at about 4pm after two nights away - I will be going off duty at that point

At least a friend has now picked up ds1 to go and play in the snow with her boys. That is the benefit of living in a friendly village

Back later

PetitFilou1 · 06/02/2009 11:27

cyteen I am SO with you on the time to yourself, time not on duty. Believe me it gets worse the more children you have - why oh why did I have three of the little darlings

oopsacoconut · 06/02/2009 11:28

Cyteen - I am using bamboozle with a prefold to boost (DD is a big wetter with all the extra feeds)and an airflow wrap and is lasting 12-14 hours.

AnnVan · 06/02/2009 11:28

Oh and I definitely know about that feeling of being on standby all the time. I think it's why I have trouble getting off to sleep - every time I hear a whimper or moan, It jerks me back awake again.

poppysocks · 06/02/2009 11:31

Sympathy ataraxis re: older sibling abuse of the baby. Know ALL about that this week! Good retort though oops I too have surveyed the numerous baby choking hazards that seem to constitute toddler toys and shuddered. The refereeing of them is bad enough without adding that to the mix...

Read that your DS is 26 wks today rotter and thought that he was an 8/8 baby too. Doh! How did they get so old?!

Miamla · 06/02/2009 11:48

DS is chatting away to me most of the day. its really lovely but i wish i knew what he was telling me!
His new game for today is to see how high he can arch with all his weight on his feet and head. He has an amazing amount of balance!

he's definitely too old for the local baby group now. his exploits this week included lifting up a girl's skirt, almost kneeing a baby in his face, grabbing the ear of another baby (she was 10mths though so fought back!), and being a smiling charmer to whoever paid him some attention! Is he too young for a toddler group?

Buckets · 06/02/2009 11:57

Yay Sambo and you don't need an excuse to go stay with your folks and regress for a bit, I'm always round mine, sleep or no sleep. BTW polar fleece works under Kurt, pretty much anything is warmer to the touch than 100% cotton! Plus possets just wipe off and you can bung it in the wash with your nappies (when you remember.

Ataraxis, I have an ancient playpen waiting for Kurt to make more definite moves as neither DS1 nor I can be trusted to keep a room babyproof for more than 10mins.

Sazzles are you in any way regretting your quaint pictureseque village lifestyle now?

Got to go face the sleet and pick up DS1. Oh, shopping alert - have beautiful new purple and black mei tai sling now! Will do a pic soon as.

Snow Snow Snow
Glad ya'll have it there because I don't want to see any more of it this year.

PF YEAH for that tooth!! Reese is still toothless and in pain.

Shall we create a support group for Wild DCs. I'm taking mine to the doctor today to rule out ear infection, sinus infection, poor iron, and whatever else she can think of. DD1 is well aware that her terrorfest has caused this trip and is trying to be extra nice this morning. She told me yesterday she'd eaten some mean beans and they were still in her tummy. I then replied we'll go POOP! Will probably get the doc to line up the full testing series to rule out ADD and such. The kid is brilliant so there's no telling what they'll come up with.

Oops we need to sit our girls down for a talk. They need to understand it's okay if we leave the room. Reese doesn't even want others to hold her now. Made her Great Great Aunts feel terrible this week as they ALL passed her around....CRYING. She only smiled for her Great Aunt and I think that's just because she's very close in age to me so not much difference.

New appliances being delivered today. THANK GOODNESS!! I am so sick of carry out food. I'm ready to cook a FEAST!

vg poor you and litte ds2
My ds is on anti-biotics for his ear infectins. he loves them though . I had a quick lick and shuddered but hey ho.

ataraxis and poppy i keep shuddering at the toys and things just sitting in wait to choke ds. We have had 2 incidents in the last 24 hours. Last night i walked into his room - left him on change mat (on floor). He'd rolled and rolled and was eating a napy sack . Then today, also in his room, he'd rolled again and pulled the witre of the baby monitor and pulled it onto his head. i'm lucky it wasn't his bedside lamp .

ann loving the hair- it suits you so much!

ts ds is another one who won;t be held by anyone else. he'll tolerate daddy, though if he sees me he stretches for me and cries. ANyone else (maybe my mum is ok sometimes) and he wails like he's being murdered. Has done it since he was about 6 weeks old. dd was so different and never really had any sort of separation anxiety ever. Then again, she never got into any rolling/fiffling/curiosity related mischief so I know exactly how different they are.

sambo hope you manage to go to your folks. Also hope dp stops being such a twit about ear plugs.

cyteen lots of hugs for your night.

The being on standby thing is one of the hardest. I love my bed but I'm always on edge knowing i may have to get out of it.

Saying that though - the last 6 nights have been gooood. 5 of them he's slept through (a couple of those nights we woke, mumbled and went back off on his own), and the 6th he had one 20 min feed/resettle.

vg what did E wear for his baptism in the end? And no1 what is M wearing for his on the same day as ds's?? I've got this for ds after all - from good old johnlewis

PetitFilou1 · 06/02/2009 14:38

Poor ds vg the thing is unless they go floppy and grey and start to get unresponsive dh says they are not actually THAT ill. Mind you, from what you are saying it sounds like you probably caught all those things just in time. for both of you

I can't believe Toby is first with a tooth. He is one of the thread's youngest. Surely not???

I'm counting the hours until I can clock off. Currently have ds1 and friend, dd and Toby here (and decorator but he isn't causing me any trouble ) Ds1 has been fireman's lift carried to his bedroom twice today - he has been FOUL. TS You have my sympathies in spades...

pf afraid he's not the first! DS's tooth appeared on the 12th of Jan (just had to check the date!) But i'm pretty sure Dizzy's monkey had her's by then already

albs I believe your DS was giggling with me when you visited

i've just looked over at DS and he's sitting up Last time i looked at him (ie 10seconds before) he was crawling. He's just sat up for the first time (with a nappy on) by himself! (previous efforts where when i was changing him so he didn't have a nappy on)
Lol, he's chatting to the white wall now
He definitely has the intelligence of his father!!

Miamla · 06/02/2009 15:07

VG poor DS2, hopefully the drugs will start working really soon
