new thread - so soon -

CaptainCaveman · 28/01/2009 12:27

rubbish night here - think its the gums bugging him

kevTheBuilder · 28/01/2009 12:29

Twilight, not my nail gun luv. I saw that Dizzy woman with it last. She was muttering something about it being an effective sleep training aid

Sibh · 28/01/2009 12:29

Kev YABU.

Jesus, the sound just came through on VG's link and gave me a heart attack (a slow dialup kind).
I hope you feel a bit better this afternoon vg.

I think I'd hold off too TS-rashes do tend to come and go at this age, but they are unnerving. It does hhelp to have a sense of why Reese got upset the other night though. Is your reunion this weekend?

Steaknife-- do fess up on the details. It sounds intriguing.

And I hope things are better today PF-yesterday did not sound fun at all. An overworked DH and 3 DC has caused some trickiness here too.

Alieight- how are the settling in sessions going this week?

The entire tent interlude has ruined my pelvic floor by the way.

Sausageandmash · 28/01/2009 12:44

Morning all,

Cyteen, I think you might be right re: teething cause and affect - ds's is a lot pukier at the moment and it does seem to have coincided with massive amounts of hands stuffed in face all the time plus a heck of a lot of dribble. Surely a link?

VG - glad you made it back with no hassle and a bit of Janet S-P - you are now well and truly a celeb jet-setter! Thank you so much for letting me have a rummage about your portable jumble sale. We only have girls in our family so hand me downs are just a bit on the pink side for my incredibly butch and manly son(!)

RIght, must now tend to the lilttle dolphin shrieking to his heart's content on the mat. Rolling is not an option at the moment because he is SO excited by his feet. And jolly lovely they are too!

TwilightSurfer · 28/01/2009 12:50

I missed the post about teething and puking but I ran across this when reading stuff last night. Might help.

Sibh · 28/01/2009 12:51

SausageandMash-little dolphin is an excellent name for him. It was good to hear that you've had excellent support from the dietitian.

Cyteen teethng often makes the nappies change, not least because the babies are swallowing so much saliva with all that dribbling and chewing.

Steaknife · 28/01/2009 12:52

Okay - I will try to tell without too much waffling.

Last winter I went back to UK to work - things not too rosy with DH so needed time away from each other.
Anyhoo, friends BF has a company with his dad and wanted some writing work doing for their website.
I agreed to do it - paid natch.
Things were going well, I sent them 1st draft and never heard anything more - in the meantime I found out I was preggers (obv gone back to GC to see DH) and couple of months later went back to GC.
I never followed up and neither did they.
March last year they start putting my copy on their website. I invoice and say if any more goes on will invoice for those too.

Hear nothing and keep chasing eventually they respond and don't want to pay.
Blah blah blah dispute - with them saying that the work isn't mine and that they dictated it to me. I say yes it is mine and send them letter stating they are infringing my copyright and eventually they take copy down.

Blah blah blah - sometime in Dec they loaded part of my copy and some really badly plagiarised versions of it onto website.

I send them another letter asking them to take it down.

They replay saying that they are tired of my delusions and asking me to pay for them seaking legal advice.

Their lawyer says that IF the copy is theirs then they can sue me for copyright infringement - which is true, except that it isn't theirs I can prove it is mine.

And breathe.

Got to go and sorty grumpy baby - will catch up later.

CaptainCaveman · 28/01/2009 13:51

cheeky feckers steak - if you can prove it's yours then stick to your guns gal!

cyteen I remember a convo I had with my dsis when her dd was little. She told me she could tell Bex was teething because her bottom was sore. I was like is she growing teeth in her arse? Obv not. Her dd always used to get nappy rash when teething.

Right, I'm off to the charity shop armed with 2 bags full of 3-6 month baby clothes . How'd they get so big so quick?!

PetitFilou1 · 28/01/2009 14:45

ts Hope Reese is feeling better. I get viral rashes myself and dcs always have - I hope that is what it is (and not chicken pox!)

Bad morning here - Toby has been really unhappy and screaming. I dosed him with calpol and teetha granules and one of them worked as soon after he was all smiles again (he also has a horrible cold) - pity I don't know which it was!

oops I think it was you talking about the similar to weaning nappy. Tobes has these when I eat a lot of cheese - I'm assuming that means high fat breast milk if that is any use......

Off to take ds1 to gym (with others in tow...) See you later

Steaknife · 28/01/2009 14:50

ARGHHH - cheeky feckers now want my address for "formal correspondance"

cyteen · 28/01/2009 14:56

do you have a lawyer? give them their address

Steaknife · 28/01/2009 15:02

Eldest brother is big cheese counsel for Goldman Sachs - not sure he'd be able to help though.

Steaknife · 28/01/2009 15:06

Otherwise, no don't have lawyer and don't have money for one. This is so stupid, maybe I should send my address so then at least I know what they are going on about.
Can't see how they could even squeeze the lawyers fee out of me as I don't live in UK and so it isn't as if they could go through small claims.

I think they are just being bullies.

Steaknife · 28/01/2009 15:07

oh bums really beginning to worry now. Haven't told DH about this yet.

Steaknife · 28/01/2009 15:12

Actually I can't see how they can sue me for copyright infringement if I haven't published the work anywhere (having hastily updated my online portfolio)
Still don't know what to do for the best and am just venting now. bums bums bums

TwilightSurfer · 28/01/2009 15:49

Steak What Idiots!

Pertelote, there's no way it's chicken pox...totally different bumpiness plus she's been fully immunized for it.

DH just phoned. He went to see our new family doc this morning. Doc is scheduling his SNIP SNIP. YYEEEAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!

Sibh · 28/01/2009 15:58

Steaknife-Can you go back through email records, documents etc. and see what you have in terms of evidence for 1) a verbal /informal contract 2) the date your original document was written /sent etc.
Then you would be able to see where you are with the whole process. The legal/money matters board here would be able to offer advice on the basis of all the facts. They seem like shrewd women.
You can check UK copyright law on line too. It is strict but fair ..

My guess is they are just threatening to get rid of you because they figure that in the list of creditors they have the one who strung words together is easiest to swat away.

The copyright line they've come up with is just a frightener. They are claiming that you are plagiarising them plagiarising you ...Don't give in at all. Cheeky feckers.

kevTheBuilder · 28/01/2009 16:02

anyone got any more biscuits? i've run out, oh, and another cuppa'd be great, ta

cyteen · 28/01/2009 16:11

TS great to hear that you'll soon be back in the saddle, as it were

Ladies who were at the meet yesterday, I think I may have identified another possible cause for Joe's unhappiness: today we have had hardly any puke but five or six green poos. I'm thinking he was a bit under the weather yesterday with whatever has been working its way out today, and that on top of all the excitement was a bit too much for one small person to handle.

Sibh - this is the crazy thing - I'm not even asking them for money - gave up on that in July. I pulled all documents together last time, though some missing, but enough to prove that I created the documents before they published them. Webhosts are pretty good at taking down copyright infringement but usually it is between two websites, a bit more tricky when it is me saying "I wrote this" and them saying "but we dictated it"

Ultimately I do not want to give them my address here. I had a quick check on the legal boards, but will probably post there later.

Feeling a bit done in as Izzy hasn't really napped today, just waiting for Mr. Steak to arrive then it is bath and bed for her. Hope he has remembered to buy a new bath plug and if so it will be the same for me.

sambo303 · 28/01/2009 16:41

hello all, quick post before dp arrives home - he has complained of being an mn widower so trying to give him a bit more attention in the evenings

cyteen glad to hear Joe now ok - Felix was more than a bit grumpy during the day (combo of excitment and tiredness), calmed down in Bucket's creche and finally conked out from exhaustion once we left Giraffe
