Stefka congratulations! That's great news. And you did well not to tell your sil where to stick her opinions. You are putting your families needs above what you would want - that makes you head and shoulders over her in my book. Not an easy decision for you but the right one for your family. Well done xxxxxxxxxxx

No more time to post as mil staying - be back later maybe

I am so glad you had such a good day Inzi - god knows you deserve a break! Sounds like loads of fun

LisaLessLumpy · 21/02/2009 20:35

I think I know the reason behind Ben's squits... he has chicken pox, he is covered in red spots although none have turned to blisters yet but I can'#t think what else it might be.

Also last night Sam came out in hives an hour after going to bed. Didn't know what it was to start so phoned nhs direct, whilst waiting an hour for them to call back, DH googled the symptoms and it was exactly as described. Apparently it is quite common in young children and can be down to an allergy or viral, it must be viral as he hadn't eaten anything different or done anything different

So now it looks like a second week off nursery if Sam gets the pox too I was so looking forward to him going back this week too

Stefka · 21/02/2009 20:40

Oh no Lisa - that is horrid! I hope they recover asap!

LisaLessLumpy · 21/02/2009 20:53

I just hope Ben doesn't suffer from itching too much, he is bad enough with his ezcema, but his legs and arms are covered in spots with about 5 on his neck and a couple on his tummy. None on his back as of yet. He is going to look delightful isn't he, red dry and scabby! My poor boy. At least he doesn't seem ill with it, but it must be why he was throwing up and having the squits all week.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 22/02/2009 07:35

Stefka - sounds typical of your sil. At least you know what she's like so yes, ignore her - you are putting your family first and making sacrifices for them.

Inzi - glad you had a good time with your friend.

LLL - at least you know why Ben's been ill now. Hope both he and Sam recover soon. Isn't it chicken pox that it's better that they have it as young as possible?

Well I took Anya out for lunch with a couple of friends yesterday. Poor thing must have been suffering with her teeth yesterday as she spent most of lunch cuddled on my knee in between bouts of wailing. We all came back to mine for coffee so I could give her some calpol and try and persuade her to have a nap (she hadn't slept in the morning) but she just would not go to sleep. She settled down a bit but every time she looked at my friends her bottom lip started to tremble - they are not remotely maternal and she must pick up on that as it's happened before with them - very very strange, it's not as though they don't make the effort with her, it just doesn't come naturally. Anyway, she got through the whole day without a nap , then fell asleep while I was changing her nappy after her tea - stayed asleep all night, about 13 hours straight (sorry to all non-sleepers...)

LisaLessLumpy · 22/02/2009 09:03

Well not sure what is going on with Ben... the spots haven't changed this morning, they are still faintly there but are not a fraction as red as last night

NeedCoffee · 22/02/2009 19:29

I'm back from the red light district! just posting so i can remember what i have read so far.

LLL-hope Ben is ok, you'd better get him to docs, prob a virus?

Stefka-great news!!! you will get school holidays off wont you? You're sil is such a silly moo, you're so much better than her

try and be back later xxx

FloriaTosca · 22/02/2009 23:34

WWAJC;13 hrs sleep!!!! I hope Anya tells Alex how it is done when we see you tomorrow.

LLL; indeed ....??????...I'm as baffled as you. Hope it clears up soon whatever it is.

Stefka; [eye rolling/head shaking emoticon] at your sil... what an insecure, jealous, shallow and pathetic person is she? (and thanks for the support on the other thread)

J20; sounds like you are certainly seeing all the sights!

Crochet; Am I correct in thinking that it is your birthday tomorrow? If it is I hope you have a fab day...many happy returns! (if not sorry )

Stefka · 23/02/2009 07:04

Happy birthday crochet if it is today!

Hope you had fun needcoffee

Aye that SIL is something else. I just don't get her at all. It's not like she needs to be jealous or anything - her career is miles ahead of mine, they have much more money, a better house etc etc. Everything has to have a dig in it though for some reason.

Floria I really hope you can turn around some of those attitudes. BF is so special and no one should be putting you under pressure to stop.

LisaLessLumpy · 23/02/2009 07:52

Happy Birthday CRochet

Well what a fun night, decided on an early 9pm night for me as hadn't been feeling great all day, put the boys down at 6.45pm as they had both been up since 6am after not going to bed till 9pm the night before

Sam not been well all day either. Bens skin is doing weird things so am hopefully going to get him to see a doctor today. The red spots he did have are now gone, but he has had more appear that are three times the size and more blotchy rather than round spots. He woke me up at 9.30, 9.50, 10.15, 10.40, Sam woke me up at 1.10, bless him he managed to get to the loo and had an almighty blow out. settled him by 1.30, then Ben woke at 3.40, 4.20 and 5.30am, by which time Sam had also woken up at 5.30 and this time not managed to get to the loo in time He wouldn't go back to sleep so bought him downstairs at 5.45, then Ben woke up again at 6am, by which time dh had the attack of the guilts and got up with them. so I managed to have a doze until 7.15am.

Phew, 'Oh what a night' should be my theme song for last night. Luckily I don't feel too bad at the moment. But I don't think either of them will be going to nursery this morning after half term last week I was so looking forward to them going back though!

FloriaTosca · 23/02/2009 11:00

LLL : oh my goodness! What a night indeed!((hugs))) Shame Dhs attack of the guilts didnt happen sooner I do hope they give you a better night tonight.

Well I have just been to the dentist...(to have the preparation work done for a crown fitting next week) SIL is one of the dental nurses and normally looks after Alex while I'm being treated without problems ... unfortunately today the door to the surgery was ajar and he saw me in the chair...I dont suppose the masked dentist and nurse and the noise of the drill helped... but he had a major attack of hysterics, panic stricken, terrified screaming... I couldnt go to him... sil couldnt calm him...it was heart wrenching to listen to....20 mins later,as soon as the procedure was over sil brought him in to sit on my knee in the dreaded chair, still weeping and he clung to me like a limpet!..I bfd him to calm him down and he fell asleep in the car on the way back but he has been weeping/hiccupping in his sleep ever since...I hope he hasnt been put off dentists for life...and I hope his mood lifts for our outing to Crackpots with WWAJC and Anya this afternoon

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 23/02/2009 20:36

Happy birthday crochet .

LLL - oh my, how have things been today? What did the doctor say?

Inzi - think you're doing really well even trying potty training. I'm not even bothering to face that yet!

Had a lovely afternoon with FT & Alex - was so cute watching Anya & Alex playing together. Alex tried to give Anya hugs and kisses but was a bit enthusiastic and pulled Anya over instead (sweeping her off her feet ?) She got quite jealous too when I picked up Alex a couple of times - looked rather furious/upset - not seen that reaction before.

strawberrylace · 23/02/2009 21:05

Hello everyone!
Happy birthday Crochet - hope you've had nice presents, and no more illness...
Stefka - congratulations! And frankly your SIL sounds the most pathetic and insecure person that you can imagine - don't know how you put up with it
LLL - hope the boys are better soon, and that you get some sleep
TLES - ouch - your back sounds bad
Floria - your trip to the dentist sounds like a nightmare - at least you and WWAJC had a nice afternoon
Inzi - glad Jane's sleep is better at the mo

Waves to NC, WWAJAC and the rest!

I'm having an early night in bed tonight - have my bad cough and cold back AGAIN - have had this off and on (mostly on) since before Christmas - and it is DOING MY HEAD IN!

NeedCoffee · 23/02/2009 21:16

Happy Birthday Crochet! xx

alicet · 23/02/2009 22:02

Dalrymps · 23/02/2009 22:05

Just popping in to say happy birthday to crochet, hope you had a nice day

Woooozle100 · 23/02/2009 23:19

just a quickie tonight for me as well. Have read last messages. Big wave to everyone

Congrats to heinz and stefka (i think she sounds jealous as well btw)and birthday loveliness to crochet

grrr that the pox is doing the rounds. for ben (if it is that - my friend's ds only got it v v lightly) I know the earlier the better and all that but rather it just not show its scabby face at all! Hoping that's not what our sicky lurgy is going to turn into

tara a bit

Woooozle100 · 23/02/2009 23:23

Oh quick for LES. My mom's had that

She is now having acupuncture on nhs (had various physio / surgery / pills etc)

she thinks it is vile but helping a tad

LisaLessLumpy · 24/02/2009 06:27

Morning ladies [yawn]

Well Sam was poorly all day yesterday, he had what Ben had last week so S&D. Took Ben to the docs and apparently he has just got a virus that is showing itself on his skin but nothing can be done. I did some more new cream for his skin though, I think he has become immune to the stuff I was using.

DH and I went to see Al Murray last night in Nottingham, it was really good and nice to get out, it seems like months since we last went out together.

Boys slept better but still only managed approx 5 hours sleep, didn't get to bed till midnight, was just dozing off and Ben woke at 12.20, but I then slept till 5.30 with one wake up where I thought I heard them but didn't. Ben then woke at 5.30 and I couldn't settle him and he woke Sam up, so here we all are, up at 5.50am and they are eating brekkie!

LES - Hope you get your back sorted soon, its bloody awful at the best of times, never mind with a toddler

FT - I so hope Alex's experience at the dentist doesn't subconsiously put him off them before he has even been for himself

Inzi - can't believe you are trying potty training already I would just say don't try and rush it even if she seems semi keen. I know a few people who tried doing it this early with their girls as they seemed ready but further down the line they had problems with the girls going backwards rather than keeping it up.

Mine · 24/02/2009 08:40

morning everyone

LES - how are feeling today?? Hope it eases soon.

LLL - I love Al Murray!! I saw him once at a comedy club... v funny indeed

Stefka i hope you;re enjoying work. You SIL sounds like my aunt. She's a handful too. Her problem is jealousy. Even though they look like they have everything, the one thing they don;t have is inner peace IYKWIM... they are just consumed with a sense of inferiority. I just try to stay away from her as much as possible!!!

WWJC - loved the image of Alex sweeping Anya off her feet Maybe this is the start of something........

Not much news from my end. I'm going a psychometric test tomorrow for a job i applied for a while ago. I hate those things, they are sooo '80's and poncy. They tell you nothing about whether a person can do that job or not, but ii have to do it

Not much planned for me today... i need some inspiration..

Dalrymps · 24/02/2009 10:28

Hey everyone,

les - Hope your back is better soon

LLL - Sorry you had a poor nights sleep and your boys aren't well ((hugs))

Needcoffee - Hope you enjoyed the 'sights'

Mine -Good luck with the test, i'm sure you'll do great

Pixie - Hi! Hope you're doing ok

Stefka - I agree with everyone elses comments re your ridiculous sil, you're 10 times the person she is, just ignore her stupid digs.

Strawberry - Hope you feel better soon.

Alicet - Hope things with the house are going ok.

Floria - I wouldn't worry too much about Alex at the dentists, he was probably more bothered that he could see you but not be near you itswim. I remember the dentist giving us stickers when I was younger, it was a fun place to go, hopefully he'll see it that way!

Inzi - ((hugs)) re the potty training, I agree there's no rush but if she seems ready then I guess it's just perseverance. I watched a potty traning dvd the other day that said it can take between 3 and 8 months so don't lose heart. Have you tried ginving her something to play with shilst on the potty to keep her there?

WWAJC - lol at Anya being swept off her feet

Well, Dylan is not well today , he had a temp all yesterday which I managed to control with calpol and he's the same today. He seems lethargic like he can't be bothered and just wants to sit and watch in the night garden all the time (he keeps waving his makka pakka at me to request I put it on). He was a bit sick after his morning bottle but not too much. Not suer whats wrong yet as he doesn't have many symptoms, gonna take him to the docs this aft at 2.30 so they can check him over.

Hi to everyone i've missed
