Hey everyone,

Just popping in to say so so sorry i've not caught up in ages, just feel i've gotten so far behind I can't catch up properly. I have been following what everyones been up to though..

Stefka - Good luck tomorrow

Inzi - Thats so sweet what Jane said

Needcoffee - So sorry Rich might be moving away, I hope you can both talk it through and come to a decision you're both happy with (((hugs))).

Floria - Sorry you've had such disturbed sleep lately, I don't know how you cope!

Come to think of it ((big stmpathy)) to all having sleeping/teething troubles. I can say thats one thing we don't have at the moment but then Dylan is only just getting his 4th tooth! He has 2 at the bottom and one has just come through at the top, the one next to it is almost through but he doesn't seem to bothered so far . I think it's just putting him off his food a bit but thats an ongoing battle anyway so nothing new there.

Inzi - (((big hugs))) for what you are going through with your grandad being ill, hope it's not too stressfull for you. Good luck with ttc and your 2ww!!

Not sure how behind I am or what I have and haven't told everyone... I'll try fill you in a bit.

Dylan went to see the paed and has gained 1.3lb in about a month so he's doing well on the new milk, he's now a massive 18lb, woo hoo

We went to visit my parents with Dylan again last sun and it went ok, my mum was irritating at times but I managed to ignore her and leave on a good note.

We're (supposed to be) going to Cornwall on sat to see my bro's new house and stay with him for a few days, hope the weather allows it!

Dylan's walking now, Yippee!

We had decided to give ttc a break this month as we didn't really want the next lo born too close to Dylan's birthday but had a 'slip up' the other night so we'll see what fate decides.

Muppet - lol at Henry's 'quack', Dylan makes lots of animal noises but not always for the right one. For eg, he'll pic up a duck and make a minkey noise . He also says bye bye whether your arriving or leaving despite my attempts to teach him 'hiya' lol.

I've done something to my back whilst tidying up today, feels like a trapped nerve between my shoulder blade and spine, hurts if I look left or right . Dh has been massaging me and pulling my arms but it's no better...

Alice - Hope things work out with the house sale, it's so stressfull buying and selling houses, you have my sympathy. Last time I moved I vowed never to do it again, think I might have to at some point however! Fingers and toes crossed for you anyway.

LLL - Sorry you've had sleepless nights. Sorry Ben's skin has flared up again, is it excema he has? Just asking cause I had it quite bad when younger, still get it a bit now...

Pixie - Sorry you've had a tough time with illness etc, hope things get better soon x

Les - Happy bealted Birthday wishes x x x x

WWAJC - How annoying your client didn't show up, very rude!

Well, i'm sorry if i've missed anyone but have to go to bed now. Will be back on before I go away, or should I say if I go away. Hi to anyone i've missed, night night x

Woooozle100 · 06/02/2009 00:01

a quickie from me just before I go to bed (so much for getting as much sleep as possible and going to bed when the kids do )

glad you got the book inzi - hope its of some use. Found our copy (in the loft - haha. Just where you keep things to hand. Twas with another book I'd got from cerebra postal lending library and needed to send back so good job I found) That's dead sweet yr a princess. J just says mama when he's pointing at something he wants.. or maybe I'm so knackered and sick looking I look like a banana. Hmmm or maybe nana, mama just sound the same. Hope yr grandad's birthday goes well and you have a nice day - all things considered what with the consultant meeting. All the best for that too.

My grandad not well either. In hospital and having a ct scan tomorrow. Not sure exactly what is going on. He's just not himself at all. V withdrawn.

best of luck for tomorrow stefka

hiya Dal.. and all round to everyone else. Cheers for yr kind wishes to dd - she's not too bad. In fine spirits. Will catch up better tomorrow.. bed is beckoning. Ni night

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/02/2009 07:20

Hi folks

not been on for a while but i have been trying to keep up with you all.

Dal - i hope you get to go on your trip. It sounds as though you're really looking forward to it.

Stefka - i hope the new job is going well. Let us know how you're getting on.

Sorry for everyone going through the sleep deprivation. I'm in the club too

Can anyone help me with this

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 06/02/2009 11:50

Inzi - at Jane calling you a princess - that's got to be the best "mummy" moment ever. lol at Jane getting bathed in the kitchen sink! Hope your bathroom's coming along nicely.

LLL - what?? what's happened with Sam? Hope you enjoyed the sledging. We have no snow here at all now - am quite .

Alice - shame about the offer being not what you need. Hope you can work something out, or that somebody else comes along soon.

NeedCoffee - is Rich's job offer a permanent one? Or is he looking at being over there just for a year or 2 (long enough I know)?

Stefka - how's your first day gone?

Dal - glad the next visit to your parents went ok. And well done to Dylan for walking! How's your back today?

Pixie - hope your grandad's ok.

LES - lol at Zach's reaction to a chicken.

My dad is round today so he and dh are busy doing complicated things with pipes and hoses and radiators. I'm staying well out of the way!

LisaLessLumpy · 06/02/2009 13:39

WWAJC - nothing bad has happened with Sam he has learnt the 'why' word and is driving me nuts with it

muppetgirl · 06/02/2009 14:39

Hi all

we've had loads of snow again last night so dh working from home. We walked to borders for a coffee and Henry went in the baby rucksack which he loved. Met half our street down there as most people were going a bit stir crazy not being able to get out and about. One of our neighbours is a midewifre and she said the local hospital was 2 midwives short yesterday and the late shift were coning in with over night bags
glad lo is due in July

Had kunch at home then took Ollie sledging with his mate, they both had a great time but then got stupidly cold so came back winging and whining!

Now in the warm watching toy story 2 -DH is working and Henry still having a nap.

Henry slept till 6.30am this morning and I do think with him he stirs as he is hungry so we packed him full of food yesterday and although I know his teeth are hurting I don't think having a rumbling tummy helps.

Supposed to be going to a christening tomorrow in London but really don't fancy the travelling in this weather...also not bought a pressie as we've had snow all week. Will have to see what the weather's like in the mroning.

Stefka · 07/02/2009 07:16

It was stressful. I was up till half 11 last night working and I will be at it all weekend so you won't see me much! I hope it settles down soon.

Have a good weekend all.

muppetgirl · 07/02/2009 09:41

ahhh, well Henry woke up this morning with a horrible red rash on his cheeks that is also on his leg. Phoned nhs direct and are waiting for them to ring back. Not going to Christening as too many small babies for him to pass whatever he has on. Runny nose, chesty cough (always has a chesty cough though) and not eating as much as he normally does but is still eating. Keeps pulling at his head so maybe a headache? Not sure when they're teething but I do know this rash isn't teething as he's never had one before. Ollie has Scarlet fever, chicken pox and tonsilitis going round school so lets hope it's none of those!

Stefka - glad you survived yesterday and I'm hoping the workload will ease x

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 07/02/2009 17:36

LLL - oh lucky you with the "why" questions . Have you so far avoided saying "because I said so"?

Stefka - hope you settle into things soon.

Muppet - hope Henry is better soon. What did nhs direct say?

Central heating seems to be working at last - hurrah! Am planning on working on my family tree tonight - I've only just started so not got far yet, but dh's brother emailed some stuff on their family today - he's been doing it ages and has managed to trace one branch back to 1566 !

Mine · 07/02/2009 17:37

Hi Muppet, any news on Henry.??

What did NHS direct say?

I hope it just teething, and noting more.
x

muppetgirl · 07/02/2009 17:54

Hi all!

Nhs direct siad to take him to a drop in centre or our gp on mon )what is the point of nhs direct as that's waht they alsways say!!)

He woke from his nap with a very angry red rash that has spread from his cheeks to his forehead and bottom lip. He has a few on his hand and his lower left leg is covered.

We took him to the drop in centre and they really had no idea -3 nurses all looking at him nd saying rashes are difficult things aren't they! - so they think it's excema. Never had it before, no one in the family has it so that was a surprise but as he has a runny nose, watery eyes I am going to take him to the dr's on mon to see a dr. Ears fine, temp fine and chest clear so that's all good.

He's tired but not overly so she did think maybe scarlet fever but said the rash wasn't sandpaery enough (feels very rough to us)

LLL - sam has bad excema, does the skin have angry red pimples on it? They are red, raised individual spots. I don;t have any experience of excema so don;t know.

Off to bath in warm water back soon

xxxx

Woooozle100 · 07/02/2009 18:07

muppetgirl - that sounds lots like dd's excema. Hers flares up loads more when she has any viral infection. Ibruprofen also makes her look more blotchy on top of it too.

Have you got some aqueous cream or have they given you owt stronger? Cotton clothes all the way as well.

tbh - agree that nhsdirect is a bit chocolate teapot. Specially with little ones they just tell you to go and get checked out.

Hope he's feeling better soon x

muppetgirl · 07/02/2009 18:37

Hi Pixie, no they didn't give us anything just told us to put moisteriser on. I asked what type and they said e45. We also have some emolliant bath cream which we got when ds 1 was wrongly diagnosed with excema (it was imeptigo) we've used that and his skin is soooooooo soft. I've changed his bedding so it's all clean. We only have cotton sheets and cotton cothes for him -lambswool jumpers from monsoon from ebay. I always try to use natural fabrics when they are babies but I have been using a fleecy balnket which I think has been overheating him Several times this week I've got him up and he's been seating and a bit red. His room is difficult to heat being at the top of the house and he's a big chap with lots of padding to keep him warm. Tonight I've put him in his cotton babygrow and put the ceular blankets on him with a linen/cotton mix blanket I made.

I have looked at some photos of excema online and I have to say it does look very similar to Henry's cheeks at the mo...

muppetgirl · 07/02/2009 18:37

sweating!

LisaLessLumpy · 07/02/2009 18:50

Bens cheeks are very red and dry and bumpy at the moment and his legs and stomach are very dry with red pimples too atm, so it sounds quite similar to what Henry is experiencing but I don't think eczema just appears overnight though Ben has had it since he was born, I had managed to control it, but this past two weeks it has flared up and he is covered again

muppetgirl · 07/02/2009 20:08

Henry had this 'baby acne' when he was born, it appeared soon after. We were always told it was baby acne and that some babies get it and that it will go. It did stay for weeks and looked angry red as this does, could that have been eczema and not acne?

As I said no history in our family at all. The nurse said it was because everyone has had their heating up- hotter than normal this week. Could that have started it?

Woooozle100 · 07/02/2009 21:31

it would certainly contribute to his skin drying out

I think my dd got it pretty swiftly when she a bit under 1. before that, she'd had really awful cradle cap which in retrospect probably was excema after all (was treated with steroids) She was spotty as a newborn but was told that was to do with fair complexion / red blood cells. It only lasted a few days and never looked particularly angry

fwiw we found 50/50 cream to be a much better moisturiser - its petroleum jelly mixed with aqueous cream (hence 50/50 name) Was brilliant. Our pct won't prescribe it any more (long story) but sure you can still buy from chemists. He'll be quite a greasy little fella but it does the job

FloriaTosca · 07/02/2009 22:06

Oh dear. Sorry Henry is suffering (Ben and Pixies dd too).. excema is a nasty condition... I hope the emolient cream, natural fabrics and slightly cooler bedding helps ease things soon.

Hope you settle into things quickly Stefka and the work load eases.

Inzi I hope your grandad had a lovely birthday and the consultation went ok

J20;how are you doing on the no smoking front, are the cravings going away? Have you and Richie come to a compromise?

Alice; Have you accepted the offer?

We are busy again this weekend with the bathroom .. Alex now makes a bee line for hammers shouting "bang, bang" and tries to "help"

Woooozle100 · 07/02/2009 22:27

haha FT

Anyone else finding that 'helping' is one of the best ways to deal with our I-can-turn-at-any-moment-and-throw-a-full-on-stroppers? I've been wondering this last few weeks where my lovely happy baby went.. but see glimmers of him when I ask to fetch something or take part in what I'm doing (find yr shoes.. where's E's coat - can you see it?) My dh is better and more patient at this than me.

Oh only other thing I'm finding is that J's got quite a lock on this one book - its a night garden one. I have to read it over and over again. If I don't read it properly and with some enthusiasm (like point out the characters in weary half arsed way ) he whinges / grunts at me. Quite hard after 20 times. Its like groundhog day! Bit miffed as well cos we've got loads of lovely books - why's it that crap I've got to do over and over Much rather peepo or hungry caterpiller! Hey ho

muppetgirl · 08/02/2009 09:43

Morning ladies, no change to Henry's skin and I've put a few photos on facebook if you wouldn't mind taking a look if you know anything about eczma.
We only had one bout of screaming last night and then he calmed down, woke at 6.30am so not a bad night at all (Floria, fingers in your ears!)
His spot on his had he's scratched and is weeping but he doesn't seem bothered about his face or arms but HATES his nose (big spot on there) being wiped.

Dh taken Ollie swimming and he has read cheeks also but no spots.

It's wierd that we didn;t have tantrums with Ollie though now he's a right royal pain in the arse if we're not strict with him. Henry is a different kettle of fish though and strops for England. We're still very much at the baby stage with him as he isn't walking so we can't really distract him. We tend to take whatever inappropriate thing he's playing with away and give him something else to investigate

muppetgirl · 08/02/2009 09:44

eczema/excema

Mine · 08/02/2009 09:59

muppet - Just peeked at your FB picture...Eren has the same thing on his cheeks and sometimes gets it on his back and legs... in fact it keeps moving from one spot to the next... eg it will clear up on his back and then appear on his leg. My GP said its just dry skin and a mild type of eczema that he'll grow out of and just suggested E45 cream, and to stick to cotton clothing where possible.

It doesn;t usually cause Eren any discomfort but if he starts itching it he can;t stop so i try to make sure he can;t get to it IYSWIM....

Your GP will give you a better idea of what it might be when you see him this week i guess.

If the one on his nose is weeping.... can it be chicken pox....

Hope that helps
x

muppetgirl · 08/02/2009 10:24

Thanks Mine xx
Ollie has chicken pox at school and I thought it was the beginning but we only got the one spot and that was that! (Although it was a humdinger of a spot!)

Think I need to get him checked out tomorrow and will keep him in a babygrow today as I don't want the shuffling on carpet to hurt him x

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 08/02/2009 11:59

Have no experience of eczema Muppet, so have nothing to offer - hope it clears up soon though.

Anya actually doesn't strop much, which surprises me. She can shout very angrily though and she can whine for England.

Having a chilled day today - dh's other daughter round tonight for a chinese.
