JJ That's hilarious!! (ear) I always wake up to him wimpering when he can't find the nip - and he's usually sucking on his hand or my bra strap! DS has been in our bed too - almost every night - I start feeding him and get so tired i fall asleep - my mother in law told me off - do you think it's dangerous? I'm terrified i'll squash him, but i'm more terrified i'll never get him to sleep in his cot as i've tried and he screams - may have to do the "Ferber" thing. Thoughts anyone? Will it matter at just 6 weeks? When will it be too late as i want my bed back soon!! I must read that sleep thread now...
6 week check all fine - light exercise ok but no serious crunches until 3 month mark....

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 15:24

LT lol at that list lady!!! I like the idea of write extra things on and cross them off!

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 15:37

JJ just read the sleep thread.... your dd sounds EXACTLY like my ds!!!!!!!!!! I hope this is a 6 week growth spurt as it's quite a new problem... i don't actually think he's hungry as he falls asleep (now) while feeding after 5 mins max, or gets really fussy and shakes his head then pulls off and plonks his head down and sleeps practically with a nipple in his eye!!!! But the second i put him down off me he wakes up and cries!!

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 15:41

oh and right before he pulls off he squirms around a lot and thrashes his legs etc like he's really frustrated - i've checked and there's def milk coming out

LadyThompson · 20/01/2009 15:42

Have you started any exercise yet KMP? Don't know about the bed thing.

I did my Davina dvd the other day but she is so blimmin' irritating, mugging to the camera all the time. Also, the big problem with exercise dvds is that I can never seem to follow the steps. I am the movement equivalent of tone deaf. Also, the living room has huge ceiling to floor windows and even though only Harvey the Horse and the chickens can see my duff moves, and I doubt they are overly fussed, I feel a bit daft.

I am cutting down on the grub though, and the cheerfulness (or as much as my soul can withstand. I gave in about 11pm last night and had a thimbleful of very, very, very, dry sherry. I think it's psychological as much as anything.) I have lost about half a kilo in the last couple of weeks. Wowzers. Only nineteen and a half to go then.

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 15:59

Um - haven't done any exercise technically - although sometimes walk the dog with ds strapped to me when it's not raining! I know what you mean about those DVD's - i'm not to good on the moves either so I don't even attempt them! I thought about joining a gym but most of them won't take babies in the creches until about 3 months, and then i'd feel guilty about the dog. I gained 15kg all up but i was 3kg heavier than normal when i started. I've lost 10kg since coming home from hospital - probably the BF helps and a lot of fluid etc, but still have 5-8 to go. I want to lose it all before thinking about trying for a 2nd GP prescribed me the mini pill today, but didn't get it filled yet. He insisted I need to do my pelvic floor exercises - of which i rarely do any and I could read between the lines that he was getting at the fact that being 'mid' 30's I really should make an effort with it! I've been so slack in that department!!

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 16:03

oh and if anything i've stepped up the cheerfulness - which reminds me, my supply is dangerously low (as in none left) that's not very cheerful - I don't really have very much though as since i had none not much when pregnant, I can't handle more than a glass or so at a time!
But I have completely lost my appetite from when I was pregnant which is great!

kayzr · 20/01/2009 16:06

The only way DS2 really sleeps during the day is in his vibrating chair or on me. Which means I get nothing done so in his chair he goes.

I must start doing some exercising. I do have a Rosemary Connelly DVD but I have to close the curtains to be able to do it. My mum is giving me her cross trainer too as she doesn't use it.

LadyThompson · 20/01/2009 16:09

Yes, my appetite has definitely decreased. I was a good 5kg over my best weight when I got pregnant, then put on about 17 on top of that. Awful. I only lost 3-4kg after delivery I think.

I was ok at doing my pelvic floors when I was pregnant. Forgotten about them now. Hmm. Must crack on.

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 16:18

ok -- he's in the vibrating chair - doesn't have too much head support though but so far so good....... he's stopped!!! Might give my boobs a chance to refill now!!! fingers crossed!!!!!!

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 16:21

I don't think his vibrating chair is horizontal enough (though good for the wind) but he's looking around and flapping his arms way too much at the moment for my liking.....

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 16:25

now he's licking / sucking on his babygro - sucking off the excess gripe water he spat out I think....seems to have vibrated down the chair a bit and now his feet are hanging over.... better prop him up again - now he'll think i'm going to pick him up and then get pissy when I don't i'm sure.... here goes.... will strap him in i think..... he doesn't look thrilled.... dog just licked him too... nice parenting by me!

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 16:54

well..... lasted almost half an hour - just kicking off now....

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 16:55

must check nappy - perhaps it's just nappy? [optimistic emoticon]

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2009 17:01

Kmp I always forget the nappy ds2 will be kicking off and be trying to shove a boob in his mouth or juggling him around and shushing only to find that he his actually very unimpressed with the fact that he is sitting in his own excrement which I imagine must be quite unpleasant.

Oh and I'm sure dog saliva is good for the immune system I'm sure my boy is going to start coughing up cat hairs soon yuk.

Kmp the website is paspix.com they do British and US and DH has sent a link in an email to them for the Aussie biometric specifications to double check they can do those.

JJ I love sneezing.

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 17:03

never been so happy to see such a disasterous nappy until now!!! Although he did have a bit of a grisle putting him back in the bouncer, but so far..... fingers crossed.... I still think he's on the fence about it all though....

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 17:08

thanks for the website veggie will have a look....
well, altho the nappy was a disaster area, he's got issues again... probably genuinely hungry now though, since i've been trying to get him to settle in this vibrating chair for so long!!
oh well....

artichokes · 20/01/2009 17:44

Has anyone else been watching the inaugeration? I tried to impress its importance on DD2 but she mainly refused to pay attention.

Very jealous at decreasing appetites. My appetite is a force of nature. I am constantly starving and obsessing about my next meal. I think it comes from BFing a HUGE baby. Although I am nto losing weight I am maintaining the same weight while eating 3 large meals a day, 3 mid-meal snacks (Usually as big as a meal) and at least two puddings . I have never consumed so much.

Feeling a little less trapped today. I was glad to read I am not alone and I am goint to get that book. I think the main boost has been that DD HAPPILY TOOK A BOTTLE!!!! A whole bottle. Its playtex from the US and it looks like nothing I have ever seen. DH and I took her to a coffee shop earlier and he got the bottle out with little hope and she just gobbled it down .

kayzr · 20/01/2009 17:47

YAY ARTI!!!

I have been watching it too. DS1 and DS2 are not at all interested but I have really enjoyed it.

rosmerta · 20/01/2009 17:53

Arti that's fantastic!

Ds1 also let me watch the inauguration between racing cars! I did try to explain to him the importance of it but he wasn't really impressed!

Cat My DH would only sleep with the hoover on. My MIL said they had to sleep with it on until he was 6 months old.

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 18:33

I can remember my brother saying that - they would have the vacuum on all night and sometimes even have to take his ds out and drive around in teh middle of the night until he was safely asleep....
Arti great news about the bottle - and on the weight thing - at least you are eating what you want (it sounds like) and not gaining anything - I haven't tried that - although I have had the odd sticky toffee pudding but that's getting cut out!
Arti did you decide on the US move? I may have missed that conversations outcome!

LadyThompson · 20/01/2009 18:42

Thrilled about the bottle, Arti. Hooray

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2009 18:45

Watched the inauguration here too. Ds1 loved all the clapping and flag waving. He joined in with the clapping and chearing was very cute. Ds2 just stared amazed at our tele he is really getting into bright lights so 42inches of bright light is quite exciting for him.

Took ds1 to gymnastics today I quite like I cos all mums sit outside and have a chat. I've managed to group up with quite a nice group of them, they're not too...mummyish if you know what I mean...I hope that doesn't sound snobby. Some of the Derby mums are a bit like that and I'm used to London mums. Oh now I feel a but mean.
