Oh Arti I'm so pleased about the bottle it give me hope did you order it online? I really want it to happen this time. I need to do quite a bit of training for these swim races and they will be long sessions inthe pool so need to leave ds2 t his dad to feed if necessary.

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2009 18:52

Oh and LT on long haul flights the time zone rule is, there is no time zone, it can be whatever time you want to be.

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2009 18:53

I'd never heard of the alcohol no time rule for christmas day though, I'd heard of the no calorie rule only.

kmp1 · 20/01/2009 18:58

oh i thought the Xmas Day rule was just my family since we start with a champagne breakfast! Oh Qantas new Airbus ad is on - now i'm homesick! Does it make you homesick Veggie? BTW Veggie or anyone - have you actually got your passports for your latest DC's this time yet? Just trying to gauge how long it will take....

yay for Arti's DD taking a bottle

and good news on the hoover Cat.

Re doing stuff in the day, DS2 zonks out as soon as we get out and about, light and noise seems to calm him down , it's the dark and quiet of the night that gets him to wake up.

Veggie: I keep forgetting about nappies as well - poor DS2.

DS1 finally took a nap this afternoon so we all got some sleep - he woke up in a foul mood and is being placated with telly

Exercise: after a large coffee the other day I did have wild thoughts about starting running, then thought I'd better wait till my 6 weeks check . DVDs and classes are no good for me, too uncoordinated. I need something I can do at my own pace with time to think (and no irritating music).

Did we have a venue for the meet-up next week?

Turniphead1 · 20/01/2009 19:12

Love the Airbus ad too Aussie girls. I have never been to the antipodes but intend to when my 3 DC are a bit bigger. We have various friends in NZ and OZ and would love to take a month and go...

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2009 19:21

No not yet ad still sorting out the photos have been a bit slack. Was hoping to go to Munich with dh in feb but don't think we'll have his British passport even by then. DH seems to think they can do it in 2 weeks if you need it in a hurry, may just cost a bit more. You can apply for the British one online and send in the extras but the online app doesn't seem to comprehend that some British citizens were born outside the UK so it would except any other proof that dh and I were Brits

waitinggirl · 20/01/2009 19:39

turnip - have sent you an email, but yes, it was LOVELY to see you too, as well as your LO and GORGEOUS house.

cat - have emailed you my address.

it ended up being a tricky day - dd vomming all over the place - first time dh out for the afternoon and either i pannicked or dd does have a little infection - ended up talking to the HV who advised sugar and salt solution (dioralyte) but then went to emergency doctor's appt and found a WONDERFUL doctor who completely put my mind at rest and have now had a couple of spots of cheefulness and things seem better. but today was my first day for walking around the house with tears streaming down my face as dd screamed in my arms for what felt like hours.

must not be scared of her crying - it is normal, it is normal. very intersting to have spent time with Turnip - when her dd cried, i heard it and felt sorry, but didn't react with that gut wrenching visceral stab which i have iwht my dd. hmmm....

waitinggirl · 20/01/2009 19:41

meant to add... no wonder nannies work so well - they can look after our LOs without our maternal crazy instincts kicking in - to be dispassionate seems to me to be pretty helpful in all this looking after a newborn lark.

oh, and turnip - she's miracle blanketted as i speak/write...

artichokes · 20/01/2009 20:04

WG - it i amazing how your own baby's cries is always so much worse than anyone elses. I always think other babies sound so much less upset than my DDs, who, to my ear, sound like they are being tortured with every scream.

DD2 has just been hugely sick, so much so that it spurted out of her nose as well as her mouth. We have both had to have full body changes. I wonder if it is caused by the bottle feed??? Or my first caffeine?

waitinggirl · 20/01/2009 20:25

arti - what with today's hellishness i have just dabbled in many spots of cheerfulness - hoping that won't have too similar drastic repercussions tonight. although dd has vommed so much today, very little will surprise me.

my mum blamed her whisky addiction on me - some doctor once told her the best way to gt me to sleep was to drink whisky before bf me to sleep... hmmmm...

anyone know of a good way to arm yourself against the effcts of your own LO's cries? am beginning to think i need hypnotherapy to get over the sense of failure i feel at every cry. i know tracy hogg says a crying baby does not equal a bad mother, but i have felt like that all day. i think you need to have balls of steel to be a good mother - and i don't have them.

kayzr · 20/01/2009 20:38

Does anyone's lo still have hard breasts/pecs? DS2's right one is really hard and his nipple is really red and looks completely different to his left one. I'm going to ring HV in the morning but just wanted to know if anyone else's lo was the same?

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2009 20:45

WG the very fact that it hurts you so much to hear those cries means you are a great mum. I have found myself shouting back at poor Jordan when he is squealing at me on the highest octave possible.

traceface · 20/01/2009 21:05

kayz - don't know about the nipple thing - is he well in himself? mo fever?

someone was asking how quickly you can get a british passport - well I got one before Christmas for dd1 and it took about 3 weeks - but that included me forgetting to send the birth certificate, them writing to tell me, then me sending it on to them!

WG - you are not a bad mother

turnip - you are not alone in putting weight on! I lost all my baby weight within the first 4 weeks - although my shape is different so I still can't get my old jeans on - but this week my appetite has grown immensely and I've put weight on! Doh! I need to exercise because even though the weight has gone, the wobble remains! Must cut down on the chocolate, but don't want to risk not getting my extra 500 calories!

kayzr · 20/01/2009 21:09

Yeah he seems fine and is acting normally.

I am attempting to excl BF him tomorrow, don't know if it will work or if I will have him permently attached to me but we'll give it a go.

traceface · 20/01/2009 21:16

wow - you go girl! Hope it goes well. The more he feeds from you, the more you'll build up your supply, the more he'll be satisfied...will keep my fingers crossed for you xxx

kayzr · 20/01/2009 21:19

Thanks. Freddie's godmother is having him for the day so I can just concentrate on BF Dylan. But the housing association are sending someone to look at the damp so hopefully Dylan will be asleep when they come.

Turniphead1 · 20/01/2009 21:23

Kayz just a quick one for best of luck tomorrow. If you can get hold of some fenugreek capsules from the health food shop and take 2 between each feed that have a quick effect on upping your supply which may help you tomorrow. Take care!

traceface · 20/01/2009 21:23

weigh day for Phoebe tomorrow - i think she'll have put lots on. She seems to be having a growth spurt - either that or she's trying to torture me - feeding every 1-2 hours - she's been doing that for 3 days and 2 nights now! If this is a growth spurt then I'm expecting her to be 4 foot tall by tomorrow morning! Have got a mega headache today, probably a combination of lack of sleep and too much chocolate! Am off to bed now. Hope the babies all behave themselves tonight - especially for cat and wg - you deserve some lovely settled sleepy time

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2009 21:25

That's brilliant Kayz you should be proud that you have got to this stage with the BFing well done, don't forget we are all here to chat to if you need it.

kayzr · 20/01/2009 21:25

Thanks Turnip I'll take a walk down to the shop tomorrow and see if they have any.

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2009 21:41

Oh Trace sorry to hear about the headache don't blame the chocolate though you probably neededvtbe sugar, I get a bit of a headache when ds2 ups his intake I think I can't keep up my fluids and get a bit dehydrated.

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2009 21:44

Kayz does DS2 get upset if you touch it?
