sk i bet she loved it
i always imagine her with loads of energy always wanting to look and nosy around and being in a babywalker on a floor like that how could you stop her
how wondefull though i expect her face was a picture

Greatsweetkittyothepuddingrace · 20/01/2009 22:56

She did disney

I have never known a child to move as much as she does, I cannot feed her as she won't sit still long enough, she can sit upsupported for a wee while now but no wants to be on her front rolling.

minipinkscottish · 21/01/2009 09:19

Morning all! Well carrot was a huge hit... pretty much polished the lot off, little piglet!!

Disney, so glad little sam is doing ok, must be lovely hearing him shout! P never shuts up unless she is sleeping, her babbling has turned to actual sounds now like da and ba etc, we are constlay doing mummy and daddy at her but think it is still a bit early....then again who knows! If you ask her where Jaffa (the cat) is she looks straight at him and laughs!

Just updated my facebook with some new pics and realised just how porky she is looking!!

She has just woken from a nap so off to do feed before big nap time & lunch!!! TTFN

disneystar · 21/01/2009 15:47

bebe sam is the same if we say
wheres penny samuel penny is our little dog)
he will look all around the floor
if we say wheres the cuckoo he will look straight up to the clock

Greatsweetkittyothepuddingrace · 21/01/2009 21:05

Oh what a day I have had, do you want to hear it, since you all cannot answer I will tell you anyway?

Dropped older 2 off at nursery and B and I went to get DD2's birthday presents, anyway ELC is shut woman tells me they will be open in half an hour so we go for a mooch round the shops, of course B needs changing and it is everywhere and change of clothes is in oter bag at home (when will I learn?) so dumps vest n M&S changing room and snuggles her up in her snowsuit. An hour alter ELC still not open woman bit shirty with me so leave, then go to Next to return a supposed 6-9 outfit which had part of it 3-6 months but they didn't have 6-9 months in stock. Wasted journey nearly ran out of petrol too. Picks other two up go home cat sick over floor. Later on DD2 goes to toilet and shouts Mummy I can smell my poo, turns out one of the cats had been pooed in DD1's room so will finding this out stood in another pile of cat sick (threw 2 of the cats out), coupled with B not sleeping all day so v grumpy and DD1 and 2 fighting it's been a great day!

bebe - glad P enjoyed the carrot always seems to be a fav, B had a yoghurt and some banana tonight although she got so upset as she couldn't pick up the banana so I had to hold it an inch from her mouth whilst she decided to chew bits of it, I know BLWing your not supposed to hold it for then but I'm her Mummy and she wanted banana, you should have seen the size of the bits she was chomping off too - scary.

minipink - aww poor you I think it's normal to feel anxious. I remember it was coming up to the 6 month mark with DD1 and I was dreading it, we went home for a weekend and DP said "you know what why don't I ask for a transfer and we move back then you won't need to work" so we downsized the mortgage but upped our house size. My career is dead in the water and financially things are tough but I don't regret it (much) now with 3 littlies chidcare too expensive so here I am.

libralady · 21/01/2009 21:13

Hi Ladies,

I am still here (thanks to Jodie I think for missing me)

Just struggle to keep up with the goings on on a daily basis now with everything that's been going on.

Congratulations to M2L. A lovely surprise.

DH is still away most of the time and I am beginiing to feel more and more like a single parent. DS1 has been quite ill with pnemonia so trying to juggle full time work, Luke and DS1 on my own (OK my M&D are around the corner) with both PIL in and out of hospital with their cancers has been pretty hectic.
My job officially goes in September but we've heard on the grapevine that the timelines are sliding already. The Indians haven't yet appeared in the office for their training and some were supposed to have been here 2 weeks ago. To top it off we have the auditors in as well. Deep joy.

Luke is now rolling all over the place and with 10 seconds of being put on his back he is over.

Started weaning which is going slowly compared to DS1 who I had to wean at 17 weeks.
L was weighed yesterday and at 30 weeks 1 day he was 19lb 6oz. DS1 at the same point was 23lb 2oz! To look at DS1 now you wouldn;t think it. He is in 5-6 year old clothes for the height but they are absolutely massive on the waist and chest. He's only 4!

Right heading off to bed now as I'm up again at 5.30 to go to work.

I promise I will try and post regularly.

All the best

LLx

Isaidno · 21/01/2009 21:18

SK - what a terrible day, poor you!
I don't regret giving up work either - I might moan but I like being a sahm, and childcare would be a nightmare - no family close and a dh who works every other weekend. Can't believe it's already time for some of you to go back!

Poppy is driving me mad with her busy hands - she can't see anything without trying to grab it, the car keys, phone, cup of tea, anything remotely edible, paper, hair. I could go on. When I am bfing her she is shoving her hands in my mouth and pulling at my teeth.#

Baby products - I agree with SK about the bumper and quilt stuff - useless! The sleeping bag - now that is a great invention! The most useless thing must be the bath seat like this - tried Poppy in it and she hates it, just like DS 1 and 2. That is going on freecycle.
Also the stupid padded highchair with crevices - already freecycled that monster.

OP posts:
Greatsweetkittyothepuddingrace · 21/01/2009 21:19

libralady - you know what I thought of you today and wondered how you were, poor you sounds like you are having a hard time of it, sorry to hear about DS1 and your PIL too. Bummer about the job too what are your plans, are you looking for something else? DP finds out in a few weeks about his, he works for one team but there is another team in another part of the business that does the same thing so he thinks they will combine the two with reduced numbers so they will probably all be reapplying for less jobs which is horrid (been there done that), also no profit share this year as they are about 80 billion or something in the red and all the shares are worth about £5 right now

Hope you can pop in more we miss you

Isaidno · 21/01/2009 21:20

x post LL - glad to hear from you, even if it's not all good. Hope your ds and everyone else gets better soon x

OP posts:
Greatsweetkittyothepuddingrace · 21/01/2009 21:24

Isaidno - x-posts, that was the seat DD2 hated too. Have you tried a nursing necklace? I was thinking of getting one as B is the same. DD1 had a cute habit of holding my hand as she was feeding which turned into a comfort thing, now she will seek out my hand and suck her thumb.

breastfeeding necklaces

Poledra · 21/01/2009 22:27

I like the look of the bfing necklace SK - Orlaith's favourite trick is grabbing a handful of my breast and kneading it as she feeds. Not too bad when she just gets breast tissue but agonising when she sinks her nails into my nipple . Still, lets me know when she needs her nails cut....

Got a busy week here - DD1 is 5 on Monday and her party is on Sunday. It's a reasonably big affair as she's at school now but we're doing it a soft play place. However, she's decided she wants a pirate ship birthday cake! So, I've bought the tin and I and MIL will be attempting this feat of cake creation on Friday - wish me luck.

O is getting on fine with food (purees and finger foods) but is a bit greedy - she was a bit sick this afternoon which I tihnk was as a result of pushing waaaaay too much toast in at lunchtime . She still seems quite small to me (15lb 7 today) - must get out the other 2 DDs' red books and compare.

Libra sorry things are so rough for you just now. Hope all your family are feeling better soon.

Has anyone seen Rumpel around lately? We don't seem to have heard from her for a while.

Off to bed now. Hope everyone has good night's sleep (did you hear that, Orlaith??).

PS Disney don't you dare apologise for your posts - we are all here for you and Sam. And I love hearing about his progress.

disneystar · 21/01/2009 22:29

LL sorry to hear about your ds hope he gets better soon, what a worrying time youve had
hope things improve soon hun x

sk well what a day, ok i know it was a bummer of a day but i did laugh at the part where you threw the cats out............
poor you hope you have a better day tomorrow

ponto just re read your post sorry i did mean to mention how lucky it was you smelt gas when you did, thats what always worries me here....what a bill for repair though

me and my dh are being fat pigs tonight lol eating profiteroles with hot choc sauce in bed, yes thats the only place the choc is going as well....on the cakes....

Poledra · 21/01/2009 22:32

Actually, disney, I think you need to apologise for that last post - I want some profiteroles now

disneystar · 21/01/2009 22:33

pol was thinking about rumpel to

come say hi rumpel we miss ya

Isaidno · 22/01/2009 08:13

am I the only person in the world who hates profiteroles?

OP posts:
mama2leah · 22/01/2009 09:20

probably...
ahh i went to se emy old midwife, who told me to report my gp, i got my bookin appointment for next wenesday, went to speak to my health visitor and get leah weighed ( 13lbs and 26/27 weeks) and she was tellin me to start breakfast aswel? altho i havent reali established lunch, actaully missed it yesterday?! hmm...BAD MUM i knw...
so shud i start on breakkie too? this weanin is confusin more me....

oh yes!! SHE ROLLED!!! about time too, woohooo!!!

Isaidno · 22/01/2009 09:31

M2L - from the beginning I have offered poppy something to eat at every mealtime (whether she ate anything or not is a different matter.) This is generally the way blw goes; puree method generally starts with one meal, then increases to 2 meals after a week or so, then to 3 meals when you think baby is ready. Just trust your instinct and judgement.

Has Leah really only just rolled? I could have sworn she was one of the early rollers? Must be getting all confused.

Disney - will post your nappies tomorrow as I will be in town 9they shut my local post office just after Christmas - grr.)

Like the necklaces SK, but being a cheapskate I might put on the long plastic beads I already have somewhere and see how she likes it!

Poledra - with you on the cake making; it's DS2's bday next thurs and i have to produce some kind of cake. Scared to ask what he wants because it will be way beyond my capabilities! Got family coming for tea this Sunday so have lots of tidying up to do. It's piddling down here, so can't go out for a walk to avoid the housework!

OP posts:
mama2leah · 22/01/2009 10:12

she rolled a few times before wen she was 8-10 weeks, then stopped!

okay, will offer her food, my hv was abit abt blw...i dunno

TJuice · 22/01/2009 10:30

ponto - hope you got your boiler sorted. v. lucky you smelt the gas. I am a bit paranoid about that myself because elodie's tiny room is off the kitchen and we have a gas cooker. i must get a gas alarm installed.

well, i'm in a stand-off with dh right now. he's being so patronising these days and i decided at the last minute to meet some friends after i put E down last night and got a right lecture from him. he doesn't think childcare is a real job and seems to be really snippy with me at the moment.

anyway, had a fab time in a japanese restaurant with my friends. i think its necessary to get out without baby now and again . . .

sorry for the moan.

Poledra · 22/01/2009 10:37

Ooooh, don't start me on that sort of thing, TJuice - DH goes out every Wed for a few drinks. No problem, he only goes after the chidren are in bed. Tonight, I have to go to a committee meeting for the DCs' playschool. DH is not going to make it home early, so I will have to get the children fed, bathed and into bed then he will come home and I will go out. And he thinks it's a 'night out' for me!! FFS, it's a committee meeting - I only do this as I feel I ought to give something back to a playschool which DD1 used to attend, DD2 is there now and I want it to keep going till DD3 goes too! And, without wanting to sound unpleasant, these people are not my friends - they are the other mums who care enough to work on keeping the playgroup going, but I am not in the 'inner circle' so to speak as I am not a SAHM (I'm not complaining, BTW, of course they all know each other better as they see each other all the time at playschool/school drop-offs etc).

Well done you on having a nice night out.

pigleychez · 22/01/2009 12:40

Hi, Hope everyones well.

Abigail is 6mths olds today! Where has the time gone!?!

Had her weighed this morning and she 15.10 now- just above the 25th line. Not overly impressed with my HV's as they have never asked anything about Abigail. Just weighed then thats it. My friends HV asks lots of questions about her LO's development, weaning etc.
You would of thought that as she 6mths now they might have mentioned weaning.. oh well... good job I care enough to do my own research and not rely on them to tell me.

Sorry - Rant over!

Still having viewings on the house and getting good feedback but most arent actually in a position to buy or cant afford it- Most annoying.
One viewing yesterday went very well and we have been given an offer which is great!- Bad news is its 10 grand under the asking price No way we will accept that as we wouldnt be able to afford what we want. Currently in negotiations so watch this space!!

Tjuice- Sorry to hear that DH is being a pain. Thankfully my DH is great and very understanding. He cant wait to take over when he gets in from work.

re cakes- Im another one looking at cakes for DH's 30th in March. Not going to attempt to make one myself as we want a proper iced one with a poker theme which is wayyyy beyond me. Trying to find a local cakemaker who doesnt want a fortune!

Abigail has slept pretty well lately.. much better than the normal 3 hours.
The other night was bed at 8 then 12 then 5.30.
Last night was 8-2-7.45. Heaven!

bebejones · 22/01/2009 13:33

Just taking the oppurtunity to post while P is sleeping! Am LIVID with DH!! I have been saying for ages about chasing child benefit and he has been ignoring me/fobbing me off/grunting....he has finally admitted he didn't post the forms off. FFS that was all he had to do! Now we wont get all the money we should have got and we really could do with it! Am so cross! Plus he lost forms so now have to fill them all out again!

Also wanted a little 'medical' advice/opinion.... Since birth Phoebe's lower eyelashes have had a tendancy to stick to her eyeballs. Her lower lids seem to push them upwards. HV and nurse have never seemed bothered just said they would sort themselves out. As she is now more coordinated she rubs at her eyes and makes them water which of course means the lashes stick to her eyes more, and then she rubs them more! Her upper lashes have never been a problem. I am worried that she could end up with an infection or worse. I clean them 3-4 times a day when they are bad but am not sure what to do. Is it normal...am I overreacting...will the doctor think I am neurotic since HV & nurse weren't bothered??

Going to start P with breakfast at the weekend...any suggestions? She has had a bad few nights, think her teeth (gums) are bothering her, been slapping on the calgel which seems to be calming the red cheeks down!!!
