Very quiet in here tonight

Poledra - oh poor you, hope it gets better real soon

Disney - yes I think you have done your bit newborns are addictive though

I just get so gushy over Bethany, she's just so lovely I think having two big toddlers running around then this little baby who is just starting to assert herself and just smiles at me constantly is fab. She is so fiesty though she follows the other two everywhere in her walker and tonight was at the bottom of the stairs shouting up at them. She might be wee but there's no way they will be able to leave her behind.

disneystar · 15/03/2009 07:34

hi guys early sunday for us again nothing unusual there
samuels chest is still bad,its just infection one after the other now,
his breathing is laboured and he cant really so much as it takes so much effort to breathe but he holds his glow worm. its quite sad really has in movong his head you can see its way too much effort.

were taking the boys to thorpepark theme park
they are very excited and were all looking forward to today.
just have to take all samuels equipment with us and he will be fine
its easy to be scared and not to go anywhere just incase, but i have to think differently because of the other dc
anywhere we go we have to know where the nearest hospital is.

im taking my grandson brandon as well hes 3 and a right naughty monkey (for his mother) poor little guy is scared of dh voice all he has to say is brandon and he drops his head,
sound mean but hes a very screamy i want it NOW kind of boy,imo just a bit spoilt and has never had to share and no pre school to learn how to share
but hes a cutie and what better way to learn how to turn take and share out with my brood....
anyway got to go and shower and get these lot ready, pack sams gubbings.......
see you later....

bebejones · 15/03/2009 15:39

Our stupid pc has done a windows update & lost EVERYTHING we had saved on it! No idea whats gone on, have virus scanned & there is nothing on it (plus it does an automatic scan every night at 1am). Really annoying, esp for DH he has lost loads of work

Very quiet on here this weekend, everyone obviously out enjoying the beautiful weather!

Disney, hope you had a great day out!

Must go do the tesco shop......online! Isn't the internet marvellous?!

disneystar · 15/03/2009 19:05

well were back and had a great day out weather was very warm and kids are all tired out.

bebe i hate it when that happens but there are ways you can retrieve your lost data....

i carried samuel on the carousel and he just lied there smiling at the wind blowing in his hair he was smiling all day and you could tell he enjoyed it. i have a very beautiful pic of sam and his daddy il upload it later

hope everyone had a lovely day in the sunshine
off to get the boys washed and dressed for bed now...and a well deserved rest......ahhhhh

sweetkitty · 15/03/2009 21:14

Is still very quiet in here. we had nice day today too went down to our hometown, went down the beach and the girls went paddling in their wellies, DD1 went a bit mad and I had to pour the water out of them when she was done, they had a great time even though it was blowing a gale. We then went to SILs for lunch and MIL came round then I went to visit BF in her new house which is lovely and she has a 3 month old DS who is just scrummy and nearly as big as B. Of course with all the sleeping in the car B is now up and wide awake!

disney - glad you had a lovely day out and thank you for sponsoring DP if you post your link up I will of course sponsor you

bebejones - nightmare about your PC I know nothing about them so cannot advise.

ponto · 15/03/2009 22:11

Where has everyone gone? I am still having internet connection issues, just tried again to sort it out, but the call centre people are so rubbish, they just suggest a possible solution (which always means unplugging the phone so getting cut off), then if it doesn't work I have to call back again (and spend ages on hold), apparently there is no facility for them to call me back. This from a phone company!!!

Bebejones, you have my full sympathy with your computer nightmare, sorry I have no advice but I'm sure I've heard that data is never completely lost from a PC, just very well hidden, someone with a bit of know-how may be able to sort it out for you.

Disney, your day out sounds great.

SK, your house sounds like mine, Bryony in her baby walker trying to keep up with the other 2.

We have been a house of sickness this week, dd2 and Bryony have had some kind of virus which has given them a high temperature and a spectacular rash - not sure exactly what but they are getting over it now. DD1 was sick with a high temperature yesterday so I'm wondering whether she is going to become spotty too.

Have set a date to return to work - 27th April, only 6 weeks away. I only work 2 days a week though and my mum has the children so it could be a lot worse. How are all those of you who have already gone back finding things?

pigleychez · 15/03/2009 22:20

Just a quicky,

Had a hugely manic day today as it was DHs party. Thankfully all went well. Had a lovely meal then little party at the in laws house. The Poker themed cake I organised looked fab and he loved the present we all cubbled in to get him.- A racing day driving various super cars and a formula ford single seater.
The country house where we had the meal was beautiful and we had lots of family pics taken in thier lovely gardens.

Abigail hardly slept all day dispite us trying. Far too much going on! Had the odd screaming 5 minutes as she was soo tired but slept the whole drive home (about an hour) and didnt hear a peep from the moment the engine started!
She looked very sweet with her bunches and wearing her pretty monsoon dress and shoes

DH has the day off tomorrow as its his actual birthday then. We plan to head off to a local National trust place (we are members). Should be fab as the weather is forcast to be great as it was today.

Fab day but im now knackered!!!!!

Poledra · 15/03/2009 22:44

Pigley, what a lovely day - hope tomorrow goes as well

The drugs are kicking in now, and my joints are feeling much better. My hands still ache, and I have trouble clenching them into fists but since I don't often punch DH, that's not too much of a problem. I also have old ladies' knees, so I look a treat going up and down stairs.

Have had a pottering-around day today, DD1 had a birthday party to go to, so I made cakes with DD2, who was a bit disappointed to not be going too . I know she has to learn that she can't have everything, but it is hard to watch them learn.

DH was playing with Orliath today and you should have heard her laughing - it was a proper big belly laugh, the sort that makes you smile just to hear it .

Disney sounds like you had a good day too - you and your DH do so much with your kids, I wish we were more organised to get out with ours more. There just always seems to be so much to do at the weekends.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend, and here's hoping the lovely weather hangs around for a bit longer for those of us who had it today, and arrives for those who didn't.

Poledra · 15/03/2009 22:45

And that should say The Young Folks, of course. I really should preview my posts!

JODIEwantsanewname · 15/03/2009 23:08

Hi all,

It's been quiet here over the last few days...

We've been busy and I'm shattered! DH went to Twikenham today for the rugby and he's still not home. I spend about 3 hours in the park trying to wear DS1 out! It worked, but I'm shattered myself now though!

I have finlly got rid of all Sams 0-3 month clothes from his wardrobe and drawers, he's shuch a dot he's still in his 3-6 month stuff, although 6-9 months doesn't look too baggy now! I had him weighed this week and he is 17lbs, so still on 9th centile.

SK I was abit 'phew' but also abit too. Funny isn't it! I'll get round to sponsering your DH very soon I promise!

Ponto Works not bad really, took abot of getting used too, but it's nice to be my own person again IYKWIM, although I work from home, it's nice to have the place to myself! Hope all the little Ponto's feel better soon!

Poledra Glad the drugs are kicking in... I love to hear Sam laugh, it's the best sound in the world!

disneystar · 16/03/2009 07:19

just a quick one
samuel slept throught the night for the very first time i cannot believe it or actually think he will do it again but it proves he can do it.
9.30pm -still asleep......

pol yes i think we do loads too my theory is we are creating memories the housework will still be there who cares if the cars not washed.....etc etc....
having fun making them laugh is my most important job, noticing something new everyday, saying a new word and explaining it to them everyday. just stuff like that.
hope everyone is well and it sounds like were all feeling ok doesnt it
all of us seem happy and all the illnesses are going.....
well best be off lunches to do and my boys can never look smart if they tried
they have to wear ties and blazers to school even the 4yr old and they always look great in the morning and like tramps in the afternoon.....

Mummywannabe · 16/03/2009 09:49

Jodie - Max is in 9-12mth clothes. More his length than anything but he is turning into a bit of a porker!

Disney - fingers crossed the settled nights continue. in answer to your earlier question Max had to have 2 puffs 4 times a day for 2 days and now 2 puffs when needed. Its hard to tell when he is wheezy as he has been like it for so long i'm sort if used to it. On the plus side he is so much better since starting them.

TheRedSalamander · 16/03/2009 09:51

Righto this might be a big post I've got so much of your news to catch up on!

Pigley- for you at your mums expectations. I agree with what others have said, you are doing a fantastic job so don't let her knock your confidence or shake your beliefs, you absolutely know best not her (or your sister)

Mummywannabe- Glad Max was ok- how are you finding work?

Glad Mr Disney passed his test, must be a big relief (Like the Walt idea Poledra)

On the meat thing- we are carnivores here although we don't eat loads or red meat. However DS1's friend at nursery kindly explained to him that animals get chopped up by a killer and then put in a big mincer to make sausages. Thanks for that. So ds has decided that he is not going to eat ham because it's "not very kind to the piggies". Quite proud of him having such empathy at just 4, although he hasn't quite got the gist of it as sausages are still fine and so is chicken . BUt it is hard knowing how to tell him the truth without broaching on subjects we'd not previously touched on- e.g. death (but he's started asking lots of questions about this recently and has been a bit worried that although we've said mummy and daddy aren't going to die for a long long time, he's still frightened that we might die when he is still little and before he is all grown up and a daddy himself. poor boy)

POnto hope all your brood are ok now.

Hello to the rest of you too!

Well our break in cornwall was brilliant, the weather was great and we all had a lovely (if windy and cold!) time on the beach. I had a shocking sore throat though, think it was tonsilitis- throat bleeding and couldn't swallow without it really hurting, so may have even lost a few pounds . plzcewe stayed was lovely, village was unbelievably posh though and so out of our normal league! Nice to see how the other half live.

Just mountains of washing here now, and unloading car/sorting holiday stuff out. But lovely weather so should be able to get things on line, hurrah!

Mummywannabe · 16/03/2009 09:57

Thered - bless DS1 - have no advice but he is obviously a very thoughtful boy. Glad you had a nice break, sorry to hear you were poorly (my mum has had an awful throat too, went to the doctors which is unheard of!)

Work is ok, feel a bit lost as my boss has had his girlfriend in doing my job and he wants to keep her and me on too, so one day wasn't even able to sit at my desk! Sure it will all settle down, will have a chat with him this week and try to sort it out. We have always had a fantastic relationship so hoping i can be honest with him without causing too much bad feeling.

Mummywannabe · 16/03/2009 10:04

Couple of quick asthma related questions. Gonna see my lovely HV tomorrow but just wanted to see if the wisdom of MN could help.

Is there a difference between a volumatic spacer and the aerochamber. When he had bronchiolitis we had the aerochamber now have a volumatic (find the new one harder to handle).

Also he has been chesty for so long find it hard to tell when to give it. Worry cause in the past when i thought i could hear an audible wheeze doctor couldn't and this time he told me he was really wheezy and i couldn't hear it!

disneystar · 16/03/2009 10:07

red sounds like you had a great time which is lovely you really sound refreshes IYKWIM

about the death issues
now i know its not for some but im a very religious person, and daily prayers are normal here and also for sick people and lots of other things that are important at the time.
they understand about heaven even the 4yr old but we dont say too much to the dc,s as small children can only comprehend so much so little by little you can tell them so they understand at a pace which is good for them

awww bless about not eating little piggies...

last week i was teaching the dc,s about charles darwin and science vs religion twas a very interesting conversation we had and the 7 and 8 yr old really threw some complicated questions at me, but very relevant to the living and death topics....
my dh often comments that our meal times are like question time.......(of the tv)

disneystar · 16/03/2009 10:20

mummywannabe personally i didnt think there was a lot of difference
we have the aerochamber for his ventolin, samuel has 10 puffs in the morning and 10 at night and whatever in the day
but i cant really use samuels as a guide for max as he has his oxygen mask in the day as well.
im glad hes a bit better theres nothing like worrying over your child is there and as parents knowing somethings up but cant put your finger on it....
but as they say mum knows best.....

Mummywannabe · 16/03/2009 10:26

Thanks disney, he hates having it but least i only have to struggle for 2! When he had bronchiolitis it was 6 x 6 times a day and that was hard. Think i'll get used to the new spacer (so will he i hope!). Your right though i knew his chest wasn't right and i'm sure doctor thought i was neurotic (even i did for a while ). As you say mum knows best (for the benefit of pigley thats you and not your mum!)

Poledra · 16/03/2009 10:33

Mummywannabee, Aerochamber and Volumatic are just different makes of the same thing (I work in asthma research). It's a case of finding which one works best for you and your child, and going with that, IMO. There could be a difference in the amount of drug delivered between the two spacers but I don't have time to do a proper search right now. I see no reason why you can't ask to use the Aerochamber for his meds if that's easier for you to use. Is he using the same sort of inhaler as when he had bronchiolitis, as it could be that the asthma puffer fits the Volumatic better?

Mummywannabe · 16/03/2009 10:37

Poledra - same type of inhaler i think. Was reading that inhalers only fit one type of spacer? Will take both to HV tomorrow! He seems of with both but the volumatic thingy is very long and i find it harder to do (but thinking about it could be cause he is 3 mths older now!) Thanks.

bebejones · 16/03/2009 11:39

My PC is still buggered (technical term!), apparently it's a problem with the registry??? No idea what that is, but it comes up saying that our profile in 'unrecoverable' My mum tried to explain (she is much better at the techno stuff than me. Just hope the geek (I mean fabulously gifted & brainy boy) in DH's office can help solve it! PC is usable but everytime you turn it off or it restarts it loses everything as it will only allow us to have a temporary profile. It is so annoying!

Think P is having a growth spurt. She has eaten everything put in front of her for the last 3 days & been sleeping for England! She just fell asleep during her 11am feed & she doesn't normally nap til 12! Hopefully it might make her clothes look like they fit her better (she is in 6-9months for length & they swamp her!) poor little thing is going around with the cuffs rolled up on everything & her feet dont fill the 'feet' on her sleepsuits IYSWIM! Don't think she is quite 17lbs yet she is just very tall, most odd as I am only 5'4" & DH is only 5'9"!!

Had better go do 'house' stuff while she is sleeping, she projectile vomited all over the rug in the front room the other day (filled her bumbo up which was about 3-4ft away!!!!) I cleaned it up but it has stained it so am going to vanish mousse it & see if that helps!!!

mama2leah · 16/03/2009 11:44

pigleychez · 16/03/2009 18:15

try to catc up here :

Jodie-Abigails stillin her 3-6 mth clothes too. Size wise they are huge round the chest and tummy but getting too small in the arms and legs.
Shes 17 llbs too.

Disney- Fab news about Sam sleeping through! Fingers crossed for DH for wednesday!

Red- Glad you enjoyed your break away despite being ill. Sounds like you all had a fab time.

Mummy- No advice really but I know how hard it can be giving the inhaler to a child who really doesnt like it wont stay still. I had this with a child at nursery once and I used to dread "Puffer time"

Bebe- Your computer sounds like a nightmare! Hope you get it sorted soon. My DH is one of those Geeks! lol
Impressive vomiting from P there!!

M2l- Hope your well.. cant believe how quickly is going!

Well last night after hardly sleeping all day Abigail slept till 5am!! Went to bed after getting in and sleeping in the car on the way home at about 9 ish and was sparko till 5am.She fed then woke again at 7.30am. I was so .

DH's birthday today and had the day off so we went Here Was such a lovely sunny day to be walking around the gardens and lakes.
