Hello all......
everything ok here, Meg eats anything and everything you put in front of her, but if she doesn't get her 4 x 7oz bottles a day, she will wake up at 3am! She's not crawling yet although I put her down...come back a minute later and she's moved to the other side of the room.....very stealth like.....that or she has an ability and can teleport (Loving Heroes atm)

disney my dh took 2 goes to pass his hgv class 1. It is the hardest test to pass, makes the car test a walk in the park! He found that his instructor before his second test was a million times better than the first one...made a huge difference. He did the Stobart Training. Great training....rubbish company to work for.....

Welcome to sahm'dom pigley - I get a little bored sometimes now it's been two years, but I am looking to get a part-time job atm, as we are moving closer to my parents in the next few weeks, so they can help with childcare. We might be able to afford a holiday! When do you move?

Right off to sort out Megs clothes, she's in 9-12 months for tesco/asda etc....and 12-18 moths in next and vertbaudet! Little porker

thepuddingchef · 03/03/2009 09:41

Moths ?? wtf....I meant months...

Mummywannabe · 03/03/2009 09:59

Disney - sorry to hear about his test, next time will be the one i'm sure.

Pigley - at resigning from job, a week to go and i'm back at work.Max has generally fed on and off like this from day one, looking back in his red book last night. Seems to be every 6 weeks or so we have a few weeks of terrible refusing to feed. I'm wondering if he pigs out when having a growth spurt then backs off for a bit. Hoping my lovely HV is back today, she has been off for 8 weeks and only seen the NN assistant.

Ponto- thing Max's night feed (all 4 ouncs of it!) is making him less hungry for his day feeds too.

Purplejennyrose- sorry to hear your not doing well health wise, its hard enough being a mummy wihtout having poor health. Hugs to you.

bebejones · 03/03/2009 12:37

Pigley, loving Abigails laugh on fb, v cute! I am inspired to let P do some painting & as it is bath night tonight it seems like a good plan to do it today! Have got the finger paints out, we shall see if she has my creative genes!!! V about giving up work. I wish I could, DH has arranged for me to be self employed & work from home, just hoping i can be disciplined/organised enough to do it!!

My PIL have offered to take P a couple of mornings a week to give me a break. I'm still getting v tired with the MS & she is so demanding at the minute that I get nothing done at all round the house because she screams & shouts the whole time! None the less I'm still reluctant to let her go. They are fab & she adores them so I know she would love it & be fine, I just can't help feeling really anxious. Not least because she very much likes routine & any disruption seems to have a knock on after effect for days & she gets so cranky & is a right monster!!! (As proven by us doing 2 trips out to PIL & BIL over weekend, too much excitement & stimulation, you would think it'd tire her out....but no!!) PIL have got her 2moro am coz I have physio & I agreed she could stay on so I can do some housework & cooking but the thought of her not being here is really upsetting. I know it sounds silly & ridiculous, just don't know what to do for the best really. I have just been so irritable lately, probably coz I'm exhausted at the end of the day. I just ache all over & feel swamped with everything I have to do. I just want to do what's right for all of us & at the moment I am not entirely sure what is!

P has developed a love of rice cakes & gets very excited when she hears the packet rustling, its ever so funny! Her feeds are a bit hit & miss still, but touch wood the food intake/interest is improving!!! Still no moving here, I just can't wait for the crawling to start & the screaming with rage & frustration to stop!!! Her sitting unaided is coming on leaps & bounds she is getting so much better at stopping herself from falling...thank god!!

Sorry for the long indulgent post, off to get some breakfast (at half 12!!) while P is asleep!

disneystar · 03/03/2009 14:18

Rumpel · 03/03/2009 19:56

Hi All,

DISNEY sending your Alan good luck for the next time test ? all the best drivers pass second time

PUDDING ? good to hear how you are. Are you a pudding chef in RL? Or are you a chubby cook

BEBE ? sending you healing vibes and I think you should let your PIL look after her. They will get used to each others routine and a break will mean you feel better both physically and mentally ? you need to look after yourself. I always feel much more positive and happier when I have had my Wednesday child free ? doesn?t make me a bad Mother ? I just need my own ?breathing? space.

POLEDRA ? yep highly recommended. DH loved it. Chat, coffee, scones to begin. Pair up then Chef demos and you just get on with it. Then you get to eat your own food for lunch and bring the rest home in cartons with a recipe pack. You can indulge in some vino too ? hence why I had to drop him off/pick him up. It was a chef called Alan he had ? said he was great.

PIGLEY ? Calvin can stand up too ? he held onto the back of the buggy yesterday and held his own weight. He just can?t sit up yet! Your wee Abigail is going to have you run off your feet before you know it!

REDS ? am of your sleeping through. My wee chappie was up from 3am to 6.30am this morning. I had to take him to the GPs today. He has been quite wheezy with the colds/cough and it just didn?t seem to be clearing and he has been out of sorts. His temp was up so I have to give him calpol for 24hours and take him back if he isn?t better.
Still you do deserve a decent kip after all this time so I shan?t begrudge you it

MUMMY ? if there teeth/gums are giving them jip it can out them off food for a while. You want to try not to make meal times into a big scene though ? it can cause stress for both of you ?easier said than done I know. A diary is a great idea. Hope the HV was helpful today.

CASS ? what does your DH do? Are you thinking of living in Glasgow or outskirts? I love moving ? it?s so exciting. Mind you I see you live in York at the mo? and it is beautiful. It is lovely up here and they have done a lot to Glasgow city in the past 10 years to make it nicer ? especially Buchanan Street, people are friendly ? although you do get your NEDs but you get them everywhere now. You can drive into Glasgow from Stirling in about 30 mins or you can get the train. Stirling is lovely ? I would highly recommend it. Depends where your DH is based though.
As for your kids I wouldn?t worry too much ? I was at 7 different schools in 4 different countries? it gives you a different outlook on life and means you can mix with people. I still managed to get all my qualifications too ? kids are very adaptable. You could always agree to giving it 2 years then if you aren?t settled and happy you could move South again? There are fab bellydancing classes in Glasgow too, good theatres, great shopping, restaurants etc.

MUMMY ? no use here I?m afraid Calvin still drinks quite a lot of milk.

PURPLEJENNY ? sorry to hear you are down too. We had all those bugs etc. They fairly knock you down. Do you take any supplements to support your system? I am a firm believer. I take 1gram vit c daily, with a zinc tablet and Echinacea. I take a multi-vit and mineral with dinner and an essential fatty acid or 2 if I am not having avocado. I take a vit B complex at the mo? too ? due to lack of sleep. I would recommend you take essential fatty acids for sure ? they should help with the Fibro?. Also try adding lavender, marjoram and neroli in a cup of full fat milk to your bath ? all great for muscle aches and uplifting your mind/relaxing your body.

SK ? 10mg doesn?t seem much I do hope it kicks in soon. Might not stop the girls fighting etc but it sure helps you deal with it. I always get really sweaty when I am anxious ? it?s horrible.

We?ve been invited to a christening on Sunday. DH is studying so I?ll go with C and A. My new friend with the girls whom Amber plays with. I?m quite chuffed actually to be invited and have made a good new friend. Girls night out Friday too ? oo er so many years since I?ve been out am a bit nervous!

Got Calvins? finger print pendant back yesterday ? it?s lovely. Will get DDs done next month.

Well must go watch Lost with DH before bed early as am shattered.

Take care all and sweet restful dreams and sleep all you littlies.xx

TheRedSalamander · 03/03/2009 20:24

Rumpel your posts are always so thoughtful. And even though not aimed at me I love the lavender marjoram neroli and milk in the bath- where can i get neroli from?

And don't be too of the "sleeping through"- ha! and double ha! Did the same routine last night and was rewarded with two wakings between midnight and 4.50am, when he decided it was time to get up (hence stupidly early post this morning with complete lack of grammar

Cass- meant to say your potential move sounds hugely exciting. We'd love to do something like that, a real family adventure. And as Rumpel said, you can always move back if things don't work out. I have friends who have moved abroad for a couple of years, then come back because contacts ended etc- and it feels like they were away for all of 2 weeks!

Little tinker has just woken up again, off to settle him. grrr.

purplejennyrose · 03/03/2009 20:36

Aah, thanks guys for the good wishes! Rumpel - I really should take some supplements - I'm rubbish at remembering!! Have a load in the cupboard so I think I will have a really good go. And the bath milk idea sounds lovely!

Had a good day today actually - got dd1 off to playgroup and after weeks of either not settling or not going due to illness etc, she gave me a kiss and a hug and skipped off for 3 hours! I went into town, did some shopping double quick and then had coffee and cake at the baby cafe! Space from dcs is definitely a v good thing!

Good sleep and good health to all - bebe / disney hope you two feel stronger soon. x

sweetkitty · 03/03/2009 20:46

Another really bad night here last night tonight not going well either am typing this one handed whilst cradling B, have tried putting her down and gave up, she's so snotty and her gums are red raw where her new tooth came through. Still eating and feeding well though.

Weighed her on the WiiFit tonight and she is 17lbs

Rumpel - poor C he is having a time of it, I totally agree what you say re Glasgow too I don't think 10mg will be enough but am willing to give it a go, GP didn't want to give me anything stronger due to me BFing.

disney - sorry to hear about your DHs test, onwards and upwards and theres always next time

bebejones - loved your videos on FB too, how do you do that digital camera? (am rubbish with technology) I agree with Rumpel re having a wee bit time to yourself, I get very little but I get 3 mornings a week without the big two and I have to admit I lok forward to it even if I just come home have a shower and a cup of tea, still love to go pick them up though.

puddingchef - good to hear from you and glad Meg is doing great, I know what you mean about the teleporting, they cannot crawl yet somehow they get around the room

pigley - loved the video of Abigail laughing and the painting one too, I hardly allow the older two to paint never mind B, she would eat the paintbrush, your very brave.

ponto - poor you I know how stressful doing the catering can be for a Christening, take any offer of help thats going. Sounds like you are going in the right direction re the sleeping too

Right best be off and relieve DP he looks very stressed rocking B x

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 03/03/2009 21:33

Hi all,

Well, so much has gone on, this will test my memory, I hope I don't forget anyone....

Disney I agree with Rumpel, all the best people pass the 2nd time round! He'll be OK!

Pigley Abigail is so sweet, ou are very brave letting her paint, I guess it's the nursery nusre in you! Ive been meaning to ask you for ages, how's your DH's new job?? Oh and big thumbs up for SAHMdom!

SK Glad the doc's managed to sort you out and I hope you start feeling better soon.

mummywannabe I agree with everyone else, keep a diary. How was the HV today

M2L Sam's day goes a bit like this, milk, breakfast, milk, lunch, milk dinner, milk so 4 feeds a day.

Rumpel Good to hear you are OK...

PJR Sorry to hear your not OK...

Sorry if I've missed anyone

I've become 'tough love' mummy, after a shit weekend, (up at 3 until 5, by which time DS1 was up Fri and Sat night agghhh) Sunday he woke at 10, I tried everything, Calpol, shushing, patting, feed, I got so cross with him I just left him to cry, problem solved! He tried the same trick last night and I just left him (well, kept going in every 5-10 mins, not that it made any difference) and he was asleep within 20 mins! Lets hope for a good night tonight.

He now has 8 teeth! and I think 9 and 10 are coming, (the fangs) Oliver had trouble with these ones too!

Just got in from the gym, so I'm off to bed. See ou in the morning [sending sleepy vibes to all MN babies]

pigleychez · 03/03/2009 22:16

Hello

We were up at 6.30 this morning too- Yawn! DH fed her as he was up anyway getting ready for work then she came into bed with me. DH went off to work and by 8am she had gone back off- so so did I. I woke at 9 and got everything ready to go out to baby club and Abigail didnt wake till 9.30... quick dress and off out.
I do love those extra doses in the mornings

We are far off sleeping through although it has improved a tad lately. Have been getting 4/5 hour stints.
Im quite of all you mummys doing tough love and not feeding in the night. I would love to do it but i really do see it working with Abigail at all... just lots and lots of screaming!.
I yearn for the day she sleeps through!

Pudding- Glad Megans doing well We are hoping to exchange contracts within the next 2 weeks so will hopefully have a date soon but its looking like beginning of April. I cant wait! Its getting more exciting now we are getting removal quotes.

Mummywannabe- Did you get to see the HV today? What did she say?

Bebe- Did you attempt the painting? What did Pheobe make of it?

Rumpel- Glad your making new friends

Jodie- I agree, being a nursery nurse for 9 years I think ive just become immune to mess! Thanks for asking about DH.. He is enjoying it now he has a project to get his teeth into. He's currently got a government "top secret" job on at the mo, so even im not allowed what it is.. Or he'd have to kill me- As he enjoys telling me! Found out recently that his old Company are having trouble with funding so may not even be about soon... so he may of made the right move at the right time.

disneystar · 04/03/2009 07:18

morning all well another terrible night with mr samuel,
jodie i really think im going to have to go tough love on him hes quite naughty, sounds weird thats but its true
if he sees me he screams and cries cos he wants me,so if i back away and dad tries he actually knows we are switching and arches his back in temper pushing him away ,well usually i take over then im way too soft
but dh said no enoughs enough and stayed with him and samuel was asleep in 2 mins
man hes alittle monkey......,
he knows how to play me already.....

so today we are going to have "cot" nap im putting him in there awake but tired start softly for me and toughen up as i go along.hes really got to know whos the boss ,hes strong willed and knows what he wants,dh says hes just like me

rumpel i also think your posts are lovely and thoughtfull,
pigley sorry i didnt ask about your dh new job il admit i forgot, terrible really i also try to be thoughtfull, still got my pregnancy addled brain.....

my boys do painting but only on the decking as they are way messy but danny will sit happily for hours with painting by magic books just adding water...they do paint by numbers usualy though.

my 17 yr old is having his 1st driving test today a 2 hour one he works and ive said il pay for 1 if you pay for the other one
so good compromise i think also trying to keep him motivated, hes worried he wont fit in the car though
its a c2 and hes 6ft 4 and 23 stone hmmm the instructor never asked
anyway going now sorry for the long post my son charlie is here and said mum stop now youve said too much.....

disneystar · 04/03/2009 07:20

sorry i meant driving lessons start today thats my dh taking his test on my mind

TheRedSalamander · 04/03/2009 07:48

good luck disney jnr! I took ages to learn how to drive, I was away at uni in Nottingham and didn't really need to drive because the busses were so good. Was 23 in the end I think when I passed (2nd time ) Wow he's tall too, must be lovely when he tucks you under his arm for a hug. Can't wait for my boys to do that, probably at the same time as saying "here you go mum, it's only a little bag of washing I've brought home for you..."

Talking of which, I outsourced the European Washing Mountain yesterday. Yes, the washing pile which was threatening to achieve critical mass in our room was taken to the laundrette for a service wash a la dot cotton. To my shame, I dropped off two huge blue ikea bags yesterday morning which were overflowing and got the lovely ladies to wash and dry the lot, picked it up at 4. Money well spent, especially as we had a viewing later! I spent the whole day tidying and cleaning, nothing major needed doing apart from washing and our machine broke on Friday, then we were away at the weekend and so couldn't sort it then either. (Plus had all the usual weekend away dirty laundry to wash from our overnight bags)

And I normally really like doing laundry! Just couldn't keep up with it. First time I've seen the bottom of the laundry basket in months.

Finger crossed now that the people who came to see our house liked it enough to put in an offer...

Pigley, I'm glad your house move seems to be going well. Like you I've been up ages too, seems that 5am is the time of choice for Louis . Going to put him back to bed now. Am far too soft to do the tough love thing though, all I can hear in his voice is "Mummy! I really need you to help me go to sleep! Please come and cuddle me " even though I am sometimes swearing under my breath!

Mummywannabe · 04/03/2009 09:06

HI all.

Thanks to everyone re:feeding. HV was fab (as usual). He actually put on 8 ounces last week (which is the amount he lost the week before). Have no idea how? She told me to swap to progress milk as it has slightly more iron in it so if he takes less its not too bad. She told me off for night feeding, telling me it is just creating a cirlce of never being hungry enough in morning etc. Told DS no more feeds in the night and spookily last night didn't need one ! Made some lovely Annabel Karmel recipes for him, and thats made me feel more positive about feeding him. He loved the ones i've tried so far. Also fed him less at tea (but ensured it was a milk based dish) so he had more bottle before bed. All in all feel alot better about it. Apologies for the slightly hysterical post earlier this week .

Question - does anyone know of a baby suppliment that doesn't contain peanut oil? The abedec (sp?) ones the HV recommended do.

Aplologies for the me me me post but wanted to update all you very helpful mummy's who have helped keep me sane this week!

Will read all the posts later, as off to nursery for a visit. But quickly:

Disney - Max sounds like Sam, he does the arching back thingy for daddy.

Jodie - 8 teeth! wow, max has none. 3 right there but not coming through yet!

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 04/03/2009 09:54

mummywannabe Glad to hear that it's OK. Your post bought back memories, DS1 started waking in the night at anout 10 months (ish) and I fed him the first night and he wasn't hungry for breakfast, I went to the HV (coincidentally had a check up that day) and she told me off for feeding in the night too, likened it to us getting up at 3am and eating a sausage and egg sandwich, we wouldn't want breakfast at 8 either! I'd forgotten about that! Said if it was a problem, offer him water, he'd soon realise that it wasn't worth disturbing me! Seemed to do the trick anyway!

Tough love worked (for the time being) I didn't mean to do it this way, I am a big softy really, but he just wouldn't be consoled, so I left him to cry in the cot, rather than in my arms coz I figured if he did fall asleep in my arms and I woke him by putting him down, I'd be back to square one, so falling to sleep in his cot was that best place for him (I think it was just a tantrum, he did the back arching thing, going red in the face thing too, it wasn't an upset cry IYKWIM) Anyway, he went t obed like a dream and woke at 6 for a bottle, I can live with that!

I knew I'd forget someone last night cass You'd be very brave to move, but isn't it a little exciting? I suppose I'd be thinking about the kids school too though. (Not very helpful I suppose )

thepuddingchef · 04/03/2009 10:22

Rumpel - Yep in the days of working, trained pastry chef/ head chef... now just chubby home cook

disneystar · 04/03/2009 11:01

red yes my son is tall and im just 4ft 11 theres a huge difference between us. but hes a lovely lad and so looking forward to today but boy does he go on and on about the same stuff,he is autistic but mildly so gets fixated on the same subject, phones, cars and stereos.

just bought samuel some clothes hes shooting up fast now and in age 1 9-12 is too tight, and 12-18mths way too big,hes got short legs like his mummy, poor poor guy.

how you doing today sweetkitty? where did that name come from ?

going online ok i know im online....lol but i mean later for some toys for him what can you reccomend for hand held toys, rattly things etc.... he loves my keys so i bought him some baby ones he just threw them on the floor............

oh yes sk where can i find your dh fundraising page please

Poledra · 04/03/2009 12:35

On here for some sympathy = I'm sick . I've got a terrible tummy bug, can't be too far from the loo (sorry if TMI). I feel completely wrung out. DH got the 2 big girls up and out to the childminder's this morning for me, He also got Orlaith her breakfast then brought her back up to me. So she and I are still in bed, me feeling very sorry for myself. I'll need to get up and take DD1 to swimming this afternoon though, as there's no-one else to take her.

I'm going to be really rude and not answer anyone else's post - feeling too grumpy and sick

bebejones · 04/03/2009 12:38

Disney - P loves stacking cups (or her bottle lid) She cant stack them but loves to hold them & bang them on stuff. She also loves her Linkies which are great coz you can attach them to stuff & she can thrash them around too!

My SIL is in labour (induced) so exciting, but so far hospital have been a complete shower of shit (sorry) they have now put her drip in wrong & it isn't working, so are deciding on whether to take her in for em C section feel so bad for her she went in at 7am Monday to be induced coz baby is so big (gestational diabetes) & she was really worried & hospital have been crap. Yesterday doctor was supposed to see her at 7am & he turned up at 1.30pm, spoke to MW & told them to just get on & give her another pesary (sp?), didn't even examine her!!! Fingers crossed she has LO soon, she is going nuts!!

Re tough love - we have been fairly 'strict' with P since the beginning really. After about 3/4 weeks we didn't feed her at night, she just started sleeping through a couple of nights out of the blue & after that we decided when she did wake not to feed her coz we knew she could go all night IYSWIM. She caught on fairly quick (a week or 2) & we haven't looked back. The first week or so was hard but usually she would go back off after about 20mins at the most. Felt very mean but it really worked. Now it's rare for her to wake & if she does she usually (not always) settles herself. I expect it will all change when she starts teething, although apart from red cheeks not alot of signs for that!

P is with PIL right now, is really weird & quiet, I'm off to do some painting, bought some canvases for bedroom, so gonna have some 'me' time & do something I enjoy!!

bebejones · 04/03/2009 12:38

Pigley - meant to say didn't get chance to let P paint will try at weekend me thinks!!

Isaidno · 04/03/2009 12:59

disney lamaze toys are lovely

poledra - hug xx

OP posts:
bebejones · 04/03/2009 13:31

Oooh I agree P has the Lamaze Balancing Bug Stacker & she loves that...good for chewing apparently! She can almost stack them & have really helped her hand eye coordination (i think)

pigleychez · 04/03/2009 16:02

hi all,

Disney- Hope Charlie enjoys his lessons!

Red- Isnt it a nightmare getting washing washed and dried when you have house views! Im so glad we sold quickly as it was doing my head in! I was using the tumble dryer loads which I dont really like doing too much.
Are you getting many viewings?

Mummywannabe- Glad your HV is helpful. You sound more relaxed about it all now
The HV's around here are crap! Ive never been asked anything about weaning, feeding, sleeping anything. I get her weighed every 2/3 weeks so plenty of opportunity. Good job im pro active in finding out for myself. I pity any really shy mum that doesnt like to ask and doesnt know what shes doing.
No ideas about suppilments- sorry.

Disney- Abigail loves these .They are the perfect size for her to hold and chew. They come everywhere with us and are fab that they clip on the carseat, buggy and highchair. Which saves toys getting thrown at other diners heads! Cheap too!

this also keeps her attention for quite a while.

Poledra- Hope you feel better soon!

Bebe- Hope your SIL's LO arrives soon.. How exciting. A cousin for Pheobe!

Abigail was a littel madam last night. Woke at 11 for a feed but didnt take much.Woke again at 2am, went to fed her... two sucks the refused any more and refused to go back off. I was trying for ages and was getting wound up so DH came in and took over. She instantly took the bottle her him and went back off!
Woke again at 6am, did Exactly the same again to me!! Ive now told DH since she prefers her night feeds by him then he can do them all from now one!! He wasnt too impressed!
Been feeding ok for me today so not sure what thats all about! Odd thing.

Weighed today and Abigail has put the weight on that she lost before plus more so alls good again.

Heard some sad news today. My Uncle is just been diagnosed with Lung cancer He has an appointment this week to find out about treatment ect.
