Welcome kensgirl

Poledra · 27/02/2009 22:57

Hello kensgirl and welcome. I never think about anyone else lurking on this thread as I assume no-one else is interested in our minutiaeof 7 mos babies but it's great to see you here.

SK do you feel any better just for having taken action on how you're feeling? Sending you positive vibes - it must be so hard without any support other than DP. I know I don't have any family locally, but my mum and/or my big sister phone me every day and I get lots of support that way. And of course DD1 is at school too.

Am totally knackered. DD2 is throwing massive tantrums just now. DH measured her last night and found it she's grown 3cms since the end of Dec . Might explaing why she's been so tired and such a little madam recently.

Disney smiled at Samuel's 'do - you bad mummy!

Too tired to post anything else - DH has just made me a cup of tea, so I'm off to bed now. Night all

libralady · 28/02/2009 00:26

Need to go should be making lunch

Isaidno · 28/02/2009 13:00

hello kensgirl x

had a terrible night with Poppy last night, she kept drying, would only settle for boob, then insisted on getting up at 6am. gave her some calpol (which she insisted on feeding to herself...) in case it was toothache (still no teeth here.)

now she is mushing an egg sarnie about and looking tired so fingers crossed for a decent nap.

cass66 · 28/02/2009 13:28

hi all. I have a hot tired squitty baby in my arms. hubby taken the girls to the beach. I hate it when they're poorly, he was up 3 times last night, as was dd2, so I'm shattered and feeling guilty about lack of exercise and enthusiasm. and I'm not yet dressed and have a yucky nappy to change now.

Momma23 · 28/02/2009 13:34

Hi ladies
HAving a quick look in b4 DDs crash in on me.

SK
Were have horrible (or should i say i am, as DP sleeps through) nights here too. DD2 wakes every few hours with here ears! Getting gromits in and i can wait. DD3 is still waking looking for a feed. I got 5 hours stright last night and feel hung over today from all the sleep i did get!!! (5 hours stright is good in this house!)
So i do hope it gets easier, so i understand how it is for you. Hope the ADs help you.

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 28/02/2009 13:37

Hi Kensgirl and welcome x

M2L I have a P&T too (thanks to SK!), fab, fab, fab.

I have a poorly baby/babies too. Sam was up at 3.30 and did 2 big poos, wouldn't go back off, DS1 then got up (aggghhhhh) so had them both. Sam went back off at 5 and DS1 and I went back to my bed at 7, then slept until 10 (DH got up with Sam at 8) I'm tired and emotional!

DS1 I think is just abit run down, he's had a cough for 3 weeks now and it wakes him up at night (the only time it bothers him)

sweetkitty · 28/02/2009 14:11

Isaidno - Bethany was the same last night would only settle for boob she must have been up about 6 times I lost count.

Momma23 - you sound exhausted too, your have it harder than me too, hope you get some rest today, this lack of sleep thing is a killer.

I am having a debate as to whether to sell my P&T, DD2 is 3 now and walking everywhere, I haven't had the doubles seat on for ages now, we are more of a drive then go for walks family so we tend not to do huge walks which a big pram is needed for IYSWIM, it would be handy for days out but a double pram just for the odd day out? It's a great pram and fine as a single although quite big, bit of a nightmare to fold compared to a traditional single. It's only 7 months old and I reckon I could get about £280-300 for it, this would buy a nice single for Bethany and leave some money over. I quite fancy a Petit Star Zia (Isaidno how do you like it?) or another Maclaren.

cass - sorry your little man is poorly must admit I am a bit at your girls going to the beach, it's pouring and freezing here today

pigleychez · 28/02/2009 14:15

Hello everyone,

Disney- How crap about your Husbands job Hope the HGV thing comes good though

M2L- How exciting!

SK- Hope the AD's help and you start feeling more chipper soon!

Kensgirl- Welcome, what a long time to be lurking, you should have said Hello a Long time ago! We are a chatty bunch! Are you on Facebook? We have a group on there- July 2008 mumsnet babies.
Is Sophie your first?

Sorry to hear about all of you with poorly babies. Its horible isnt it

Momma23- We are the same here- 5 hours is great! Its usually every 3 hours Although -touch wood- The past few days its been stretching to 4 hourly so there may be hope!!

Momma23 · 28/02/2009 14:27

Were going away for a few days just me and DP and i can tell you i am sooooooooo looking forward to sleeping a full night and getting time out from the girls. This trip away is the only thing that is keeping me going right now..

SK
Defo would sell the p&t and just go with the single buggy. Plus you can use a buggy board for the long walks...

DD3 is having the longest nap ever DD1 and 2 feed and watered now a nice cuppa and chocie buscuit is in order.

Mummywannabe · 28/02/2009 19:32

HI all

Welcome Kensgirl

Poorly babies - hope they all get better soon, its rubbish when they are poorly isn't it.

Disney - surely they can't change his hours cause of that? That can't be legal? Might be worth giving ACAS a call for advice but it depends on whether he wants to rock the boat i guess. Makes me mad when i hear people treating employees badly.

Well today i left Max until really hungry to feed him his food, and hey presto not screaming! , but now refusing bottles he really is a stubborn little bugger like his mum . Gone to bed with a whole 3 ounces in his belly! Oh well, another night of feeding coming up.

TJuice · 28/02/2009 19:38

hey kensgirl - i remember you. congratulations! hope things are going well.

sk - glad you got the ads - hope they work well.

disney - good luck for your dh's driving test.

well, i am tired today but self-inflicted - went out bar-hopping last night and drinking too many cocktails until 2.30. luckily dh has been ace with Elodie recently and got her up so i could lie in - he's been home ill with pneumonia but has been volunteering to do all the feeds, bathing, putting down etc. Its almost like his paternity leave . . .

she's doing really well, still snotty but sleeping 7 til 7 again. Eating is okay but she's being a bit lazy with the finger foods and just wants to be spoon fed?! Quite weird. I am going to drop the last bf feed very soon - now doing every other morning. Have mixed feelings about it - she'll never be dependent on me in the same way again. And its such a good comforter when nothing else works . . .
but I kind of want my body back now. I am quite proud of actually keeping it up for 9 months. Didn't think I would make it this far after the debacle of the first few months.

Its such a good age right now - dh and I just sit and marvel at her like sappy parents. Her dexterity, her expressing her personality and her chubby caramel limbs . . .I just want to bite her every time I bathe her. My mum is going to go bananas when she sees her next week.

Not looking forward to flight back - its at 21.30, so way past her bedtime. She'll be knackered and she doesn't just conk out on me like she used to.
Any tips, experienced mums?

Hope you are all having nice weekends.

Isaidno · 28/02/2009 19:53

sk - I like the zia, is great just for little walks to shops etc. I don't do any off road type pushing!! My only criticism is that I can't hang too much shopping on the back as it has a tendency to overbalance as it is so light.
Poppy always looks comfy in it and I like that i can recline her when she sleeps.

OP posts:
Poledra · 28/02/2009 20:39

Just a quick one to say Tjuice, bfeed Elodie on take-off and landing. It helps her equalise her ear pressure and, if you're really lukcy, she might fall asleep during take-off [hopeful emoticon]

sweetkitty · 28/02/2009 21:12

I agree on the BFing on take off and landings.

Isaidno - good reviews on the Zia, only thing I have concerns about is that my little madam likes to be upright at all times and nosy, the Zia looks as if it reclines a bit even in the highest setting, she would hate being reclined, the P&T is very upright and she likes that.

Tjuice - you should give yourself a huge pat on the back for BFing well done. Am so on the sleeping front though. 2.30am the only time I'm up that late is feeding madam.

Oh we have tooth number 3 poking through, upper front right, I thought her gums were raw, she seems to get them in pairs so number 4 will be right behind it, may account for some of the grumpiness.

Mummywannabee - glad he ate something but don't stress too much, some babies don't take to solids straight away and it can take them a few months to get the hang of it, hope your not up all night.

Isaidno · 28/02/2009 21:39

The zia recline adjusts by tightening a strap, so you can get it very upright.

sweetkitty · 28/02/2009 21:47

Just what someone said on the Review thread

Now I just have to sell the P&T and buy a Zia, I want pink I don't care what DP says he never pushes the thing, you know I bought a denim blue changing bag as I thought it was quite unisex and it has one tiny pink keyring on it with Abbie on it, when he carries the bag he takes it off, I mean I see men pushing pink prams all the time, he makes me

It was on ebay for £100 seems a good price, I have my old Maclaren too, bit rusty round the brakes but still a good pram will use it for dirty walks IYSWIM

Isaidno · 01/03/2009 08:06

It's £90 from Amazon here

Isaidno · 01/03/2009 08:08

I bought my close sling in charcoal so dh could use it too, but he wouldn't even try it - should have got the raspberry I wanted! My mum is making me a ring sling and I chose a nice purple stripe fabric.

Got a clip in Poppy's hair - pic on facebook - prepare to be underwhelmed..

Mummywannabe · 01/03/2009 11:22

Sweetkitty - Max has no teeth at all!

He was up all night! Every 20 mins. Tried feeding, cuddling, should have tried calpol i think but hate giving it if i'm not sure. Then DH rolled in at 3.30am, very very drunk - don't mind him going out just jealous as i would never be able to manage a night out like that. But he did make me breakfast in bed today, think he took one look at my face and thought he had better do something to cheer me up!

Rumpel · 01/03/2009 14:23

Hi All,

JODIE

My internet has been playing up and I have been very busy too.

Welcome KENSGIRL

M2L - wow at being pg for so long and not knowing! That's great - your nealry halfway through already - would highly recommend the P+T.

SK - I have a petite zia - it is quite flimsy. I bought it for shopping excursions as it fits into the boot of the mini. It is very very light and really eay to fold up and down but very very flimsy. The shopping basket is non existent and you can't really hang much on the handles as it is so flimsy - it topples baby over. Your Bethany is a toter isn't she? So might not be the best in terms of shopping. Definitley wouldn't recommend it for walks. How about a Quinny Zapp? So glad to hear you went to the Drs - I have been thinking you should go for ages as you are always beating yourself up about things and just sounded 'down'. What you on? I have managed to cut my Citalopram down to 20mg now. Feeling much more positive and gone off the idea of having another LO due to severe gastroenteritis (again) and feeling so unwell (Dh actually called an ambulance - mortification I just thought no way could I cope with 2 Los and feeling the way I do when pg!
My 2 have had me up loads the past 2 months alos - snot/colds/fevers/etc etc etc. Dh is back to sleeping in a different room to get some sleep.

Haven't had a chance to look at any photos as yet - will get around to it.

Had a NM meet-up last Monday - more people came and I met a girl who lives 10 doors down form me - she's lovely. I actually have a girls night out next Friday - I have not been out at all on my own (with the girls IYKWIM) for 3 years!!!!
Had my little mans finger print put onto a heart pendant last week - picking it up this week and getting DDs done next month.

Dh had a day at the Nick Nairn cook school on Thursday and had a fab time and brought me home a delicious caramelised pear tart with real custard - YUM!

Am busy painting Calvins room, potting up seeds and just generally busy at the mo'.

DONUT - glad to hear you are happy now - boys too?

LL - sorry about your Granny.

HUBARB are you well?

Must go and partake of a hot cup of tea and Sunday cake before the DCs awaken and I have to finger paint! 9smile0

Take care all
xxx

Poledra · 01/03/2009 21:25

Oh RUMPEL would your DH recommend the Nick Nairn cookery day? We (my parents, sisters and I) are thinking of giving that to my brother's partner on his 40th birthday in July. Thanks for any info.
